Support processor for ESXi 5.0?

Our company is currently using vSphere deployed on ESXi 4.1 servers and we are looking to try out the new 5.0 before actually buying the upgrade, but we wanted a devil of a time finding a server it will run on. When I try to install on our servers, they say that the LAHF and SAHF CPU instructions are not supported on this processor. It's probably expect that the waiters are about 5 years, so I decided I would build my own server to test with. Looking at the page system requirements 5.0 ESX http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1003661 looks like it is said the Intel Xeon 3100 series is supported.

So my question is: is the supported Intel L3110 processor for sure?

I got the specs on this processor from: http://Ark.Intel.com/products/32709/Intel-Xeon-processor-L3110-%286M-cache-3_00-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB%29

You can perform a search in the hardware compatibility matrix below

http://www.VMware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php

But Ko say its taken care of, so it will be supported, give it a try and see... But as the hardware compatibility of vmware matirix said not his only supported on esx (i) 4.1 and lower version, could be the case, the HCL site is not updated. See the link on intel xenon 3100 and the version of esxi supported below

  • Support USB for ESXi

    Hello community.

There is very little son on ESX 3.0/3.5 and Console of service support for USB devices, so I won't re-collection of information here.  SC is really version of Red Hat Linux, USB support is incorporated.

(But not for the Virtual Machine hosts individual granted.)

My question is about support and USB for ESXi connectivity options.

ESXi does not have a Service Console based on linux but the implementation of BusyBox OS to help with management of the hyper-visiere tasks, how USB support built-in. Support must certainly be there for bootable USB and also more rack KVM now have USB keyboards.

Just a question how to go into the options of USB support?  If SC, then I could use commands #mount and #cp... but no SC as shown above, also no space available in most of the cases on local storage.

Thank you and I will reward points quickly.  Looking for ideas on how to use the USB of ESXi connectiivty options.

If you want the contents of the disc to be visible from the VI client, Yes, you can use VMFS3 as the file system.  If you want to just level console access to the contents of the device (for example a "not supported" or "Not supported SSH" connections), you can use VFAT.  The best way to create a filesystem VMFS3 on this is to use storage management in the VI Client.  I tried not to add additional USB drives, so I'm not sure it will work 100%.

In the CLI, you should be able to look in/dev/disks and see all the disks on the system.  You can use fdisk-l/dev/discs / vmhba32\:0\:0\:0 to see the current map of partition of a disk (in this case, disk0 on vmhba32, which is actually the USB on my ESXi machine).  You should also be able to use fdisk to create a partition (type should be fb) for a new store VMFS.  You can then use vmkfstools to create a file system on the partition that you create - for example: vmkfstools vmfs3 - C/dev/discs / vmhba32\:0\:0\:1.  Be careful with this command, you get the correct HBA, disk and partition number, as wrong could wipe out something important.

  • Dual processor Xeon Council for ESXi 5?

    Fellow Vm - ers,

I want to buy a motherboard the CPU Xeon dual, for use with ESXi 5. I've been watching these Intel motherboards:

    http://www.Intel.com/content/www/us/en/contentlibrary.html?customfacets=! : Intel + product 2FIntel % C2% 2FIntel % æ + server + products % C2% 2FDual % æ + Server + tips-Socket + Server + tips

They are supported by ESXi 5? Or is it perhaps the best candidates?

    Thank you

Here are some websites that address to ESX on a white box / motherboard combination. You'll want to keep your eyes on these sites that people more test their motherboards with ESXi 5.0 and publish their results.

In addition, if you use this for study purposes or for a laboratory, you must make sure that you get use processors having LAMELLA as feature (EPT for Intel, processors for AMD RVI). With SLAT allows you to nest the VMs 64-bit running as VMs under a 5.0 VM running on a physical ESX Server ESXi but also run alternative hypervisors as VMs under ESXi 5.0. This gives a lot more flexibility in a laboratory perspective and the study.

  • not supported for ESXi 4 NIC... Can I simply add a NETWORK card?

Maybe it's painfully obvious, but I don't want to assume anything.  I tried to install ESXi 4u1 this morning on a machine just to see if it would work, and I have not reported any supported network cards.  Can I buy a NETWORK card support and then ESXi 4 will work?  Is it really as simple as that, or is there some other stuff that I'm not aware of?

  • Using Windows 7 processor on ESXi 4.1

    Hello

If I assign a guest Windows 7 6 logical processors in ESXi it shows only 2.  I think it's because Windows 7 does support only 2 Sockets.  This means - it does not use the other 4 processors?  If so is there anyway I can set it to several carrots as a single logical processors?

    Thanks for the help.

    David

This message indicates that you are looking for because I think.  It shows how to move the VM to carrots instead of processors.

  • Is my processor for my HP Probook s 4720 extensible?

I don't know if this is the right place to put this, but I was wondering if the extensible processor for my HP Probook s 4720. I obviously will not do it myself, but if I had to take it to a store or something that I would be able to buy a better processor to put inside my laptop?

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://bizsupport1.Austin.HP.com/BC/docs/support/SupportManual/c02046514/c02046514.PDF

Please refer to Chapter 1 page 1 for the list of supported processors.

Since you don't mention what processor you have in your laptop, I leave to you to decide whether or not is of value in upgrading to the maximum supported processor (i7 - 620 M).

You can expect to pay at least a few hundred dollars or more to have a shop change the processor for you.

  • Pavilion 500-270: looking to get a new processor for games

I'm looking to upgrade my processor for games. I currently have:

CPU: Intel Core i3 4130 (dual-core) synchronizing to 3.5 GHz (socket LGA 1150)

    Mobo:HP 2AF7, Intel Haswell H87 Chipset rev 06

    8 GB RAM

Graphics card Intel HD Graphics 4400, but also a NVIDIA Geforce 3900 GS graphics card

Is there any particular processor (preferably less $ 200) which would be good for gaming?

Please let me know what you recommend.

    Thank you

    Hello

Review the processors that are updated approved for HP 500-270.

I suggest that you consider using a discrete graphics card before the upgrade of the processor.

Consult this publication of the article.

The NVIDIA GTX 750 graphics card would be a good choice for the games with high settiings game support.  Looking for a 750 that does not require a power supply connector 6-pin PCI-E auxiliary.

  • Windows XP 64-bit supports processors intel core i3?

just a simple question. is there a version of windows xp 64-bit, I can download to try before you buy?  and it supports processors intel 64-bit? I am an i3 and Windows 7 4-bit, but a lot of my old games fail to run properly under him...

    Thank you

Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site and check for Windows XP "64 Bit" drivers for your specific model number.

If there are drivers Windows XP then download to a folder on your hard drive, burn it to a CD and then install all of them (if XP started ok), starting with the card mother/chipset, SATA, LAN, Audio, drivers, and so on.

Impoverish suggests that you create a backup of Windows 7 Image before starting the installation of XP.

  • upgrade processor for p6514f

I want to upgrade the processor for this system.

    HP Pavilion p6514f

    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

    500 GB HARD drive

    5 GB OF RAM

    Socket LGA 775

I checked the specifications of the card mother IPIEL-A3 (Eureka3) which States that the processor can be upgraded to a Core 2 Quad processor. I bought one that's a Q6600, Slacr Malay, 2.4 GHz / 8 Mb/1066/05 a - L846A603

When I installed the new processor, the system did not want to start and the message displayed briefly on the screen, said that the processor was not compatible with the system.  Where am I wrong?  I thought I did everything right, but now I have a processor with nowhere to go.  Good blood!

I could not find any discussion about this upgrade on this system, so I hope someone might know the answer as to why this processor does not work with this system.

    Thanks for any help!

    Here are the specifications of the card mother IPIEL-A3 (Eureka3) in your computer. According to the specifications;

Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:

    TDP: 95W

Series Intel Core 2 Quad (Yorkfield core)

Series Dual Core Core 2 Duo Intel (core Wolfdale)

From my research, the Q6600 processor you bought is based on the core Kentsfield. According to the specifications of the motherboard, your system supports processors based core Yorkfield. Based on this information, your system should work with the Yorkfield based Intel Q8xxx and/or Q9xxx processors.

  • best upgrade processor for Dell Optiplex GX620

    Hello

What is the fastest processor intel core 2, I can buy for my dell optiplex gx620?
    It has a pentium 4 2.8 ghz LGA775 socket

I've heard of bieng capped at 800 mhz fsb and I was also wondering if I could buy a dell optiplex Board that supports intel core 2 processor or if there is a way to Flash the BIOS for this

    concerning

    Ash

The GX620 does not support processors. The chipset could theoretically make some of the low end, but the bios should recognize the processor and then more or less allows dajuster the voltage supplied to the CPU motherboard.

The best you can get is a Pentium D I think. The first Optiplex with main support was the 745 if my memory serves.
