  Hi all

  It seems that NI-VISA 5.3 does not support USB 3.0 devices. When I try to use the driver Wizard to create a driver for a USB 3.0 device, I get the error "ERROR-1073807178: device descriptor error - value not valid bMaxPacketSize0 (must be set to 8, 16, 32, or 64 bytes). I noticed that the unit has been giving wMaxPacketSize0 of 512 (2 ^ 9). But the driver Wizard treats the value 9. So I think that Assistant driver does not support USB 3.0 devices. If someone could confirm this?

  Unfortunately, USB 3.0 is not officially supported in VISA 5.3 when you use VISA Driver Wizard.

  A non-official solution is to work around the "information in the descriptor' by selecting 'Other' in the list of devices. You will need to manually enter the 'USB manufacturer ID (vendor ID)' and 'type USB (Product ID) Code. You will then need to find your driver in Windows Device Manager, right click and select "update driver software". This, however, is not a workaround solution guaranteed as NI-VISA 5.3 is not officially compatible USB 3.0.

I'll try to find a NI DAQmx C API function (or set of functions) to use in a VB application that will allow me to change / activate 1 or 2 (24 V) channels to the NI USB-9472 carrier - which is connected via USB with PC.   I used the DAQmxWriteDigitalLines function.

  Initially, I tried with the parameter: DAQmx_Val_ChanForAllLines and created the 1 task for all lines. But the param. writeArray (which is of type Byte) accepts - VB - only the values 0 or 1 (it should be between 0 and 255) i.e.:

  DAQmxErrChk DAQmxResetBufInputBufSize (TaskHandle)

  For example, when I assign Val. 2 (which equals '00000010' in binary), I get the following error message:

  DAQmx =-200562 error code

  Error message = side = attempt to write digital data which are not supported.

  If I assigned the values 0 or 1 to ByteArray, then everything is OK, except that I can activate the line 1 (when ByteArray = 1)

  For example, instead of using the param. DAQmx_Val_ChanForAllLines, I used DAQmx_Val_ChanPerLine and I created 4 spots - 1 for each of the 4 lines that I use to connect to the switches.

  In this way, I only need to use 0 (OFF) or 1 (ENABLED) for each line - and it works.

  The issue should be considered to be resolved.

  I just got a nice little ThinkPad R31 and I get the message that the usb device can run faster, but there is no hub high speed or device. I know with other systems that I needed something - update to allow the faster USB speed operations - but I've scanned all the drivers and tried without success. Can this portable high-speed usb transfer usb update 2?

  If you need USB 2.0, you can get a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card.

  I have a few questions I'm having a hard time finding answers to.

  Am all initially, am I right to say ESXi does not support USB?  If so, it benefits in the paid ESX?

  Secondly, does anyone know if there is a version of APC Powerchute Nework Shutdown for ESXi?  Or does anyone have any experience with it?  Is it really necessary to stop the ESXi host graciously, or can I use PCNS to stop guests, then the host left to die?  Are there other options to stop the ESXi host without using the NCP?

  Sorry, I have to disappoint you. Satellite 1410-401 has only 3 USB 1.1 ports!

  You can add USB 2.0 with external solutions like PCMCIA USB 2.0 card.

  USB ports support the 1.1 standard.
  If you use the Win XP or W2k and then the ports should be recognized automatically and you don't need drivers.

  I have a Tecra M3 (~ 6 months) and was very very surprised to see that the M3 does not support boot from USB hard drive.

  I tried to install Windows Vista and Linux etc on my external hard drive and cannot due to lack of BIOS support.

  The fact is that it is not possible to boot from the external USB HDD on almost all Toshiba laptops. I guess you can't boot from the drive external HARD because of the BIOS.

  Does anyone know if there is a version of BIOS for a satellite A20 that supports booting from USB devices (except the drive, because that is already supported)

  As far as I know that something like that does not exist. Your laptop is quite old and there is not much support for her especially BIOS support.

  Try to find the MS-DOS driver for this hard disk external. Start the laptop with floppy and use this driver for your external device from the device.

  I used HP compaq dc7600 PC with Intel Pentium 630, everything was fine, usb 2.0 worked fine, then I upgraded cpu with Intel D945 + updated my bios (1.61 Rev. (A) and then all of a sudden the usb 2.0 support went. I mean im running my usb devices on usb 1.0 or 1.1 and transfer speed is very slow. How can I get back usb 2.0? Ive tried to update the chipset drivers. Uninstall/install usb controller stuff, nothing seems to help. When I plug into usb device always said that "this USB can preform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port. Is it possible to fix this?
