WerFault.exe continues running, using all the CPU, despite being switched off
Although even I turned off the Microsoft error (running Vista Home Premium) report continues to use all CPU, I read a lot of geek and tech stuff after googling the problem and thought that I had found the answer. I uninstalled a few programs that I did not, and he was glad that the problem has disappeared. After one episode a week, he started to reproduce. Even when I open Explorer and Windows Task Manager just. WerFault.exe executes two threads. All the answers? I hope of course! Thank you
How is your question about the Windows Update feature?
I think you'd better post instead in one of these forums:

When WerFault.exe turns that means that other tools have crashed. Reactivate the WER service and check the item 'Problem and Solution' applications that crashed the last days.

Western Digital My Book Elite treats WDFME. EXE by using all the CPU resources
System: Dell Studio XPS 435MT / 12 GB of Ram
Western Digital 1 TB my book Elite external hard drive USB connection
OS: Windows 7 32/64 bit
Problem: Computer works fine after reboot/coldboot but after entering Sleep Mode Performance is so slow reboot is required.
The Windows Task Manager that shows a file associated with the external hard drive (WDFME. (EXE) uses all the resources (100%) in the process.
Selection (WDFME. (EXE) under the process in Windows Task Manager and ending the process frees up resources and resources in use drops to
about 10 to 13 percent. I have used this external drive for over a year without this problem until recently.
I you'd be grateful someone out there with a solution would share.
Searching the Web for information and or solution, I found that other users have the same problem. Of course, as any material of 'good '.
company Western Digital chooses to upset their customers by not recognizing that a problem exists.
Thank you
Dennis
I'm having the same problem. I'm on Windows Vista 64 bit and I can not find a power management tab in the Device Manager either.

The best solution is to stop using the WD external drive software and install a third party about Acronis backup management is recommended by many people. I downloaded and installed and it seems to do very well and I have my machine is back to run fast.

Apple Mail only works when I restart in "safe" mode otherwise it becomes crazy, using all the CPU capacity without any correct output. Seems to be connected with caches. Any help?
Generally, if your Mac works correctly in Mode safe, but not normally, then you have a third-party software that runs at the start of the origin of the problem.
Safe mode disables most of the extensions of third-party startup and some Apple hardware, so it could be another problem for Apple, but I have never heard of your problem.

Windows XP, SP3, it worked fine. Suddenly Windows/Microsoft Update crashes and uses all the CPU while trying to assess what needs to be updated. The only way to stop him is to kill the process.
A ran Fixit from Microsoft (support.microsoft.com/kb949104), who said that he repaired the window update, but could not fix "problems installing the recent updates. Nothing else was not fixed.

If I look at the properties of the de...\System32\wuaueng.dll I have the most recent version for XP (7.6.7600.256).
I know that the support for XP will end this year, but I want to Microsoft Update to work down there.
Any help appreciated. Thank you
You are welcome.
How about that. Don't you love it when a plan comes together? Windows updates only or material for pilots also and then update windows is good, but for a more broad ability of other applications Microsoft, then Microsoft Update and Office update is good for a shopping for updates of every Microsoft product you have.
You suppose wrongly, and I thought I answered this before. Technically, you can re-enable the automatic updates but that will require you disabling updates every Monday just before black Tuesday and then manually download and install the cumulative security update newly released and restart before you activate the updates automatic (or notifications only) once more. It is more reliable just disable automatic updates and do not have the headache. Disable the horse of notification that is displayed in the status bar, and that you don't mind.
Please mark this thread as a response. Thank you.
To not argue the point, but XP users required the kind of brilliant 'support' who gave XP since the time of the IE7 to IE8 'false upgrade' users XP need like a hole in the head.

Normally, helpsvc.exe shouldn't use all CPU resources, if you use actually help and support and not much even in this case. It is possible, however, that you have a malware application using the same name.
The correct helpsvc.exe must be placed in C:\Windows\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries. The current version should be 5.1.2600.5997 and 727 KB in size. If your helpsvc.exe is located in another directory or a different size, it is probably malware. What is the real message of your Norton product?
There was a problem with helpsvc.exe exhausting the resources of the computer, but that the problem was supposed to have been corrected in Service Pack 2 (and you have sp3, correct?). http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/839017
If all else fails, you can disable using Windows:
- Start > run > services.msc > OK
- Scroll down to "Help and Support" and right-click on it and select Properties.
- Stop the service.
- Set the startup type to "Manual" (service starts when you click Help and Support) or 'off '.
- OK your way out.

Why msmpeng.exe consumes all the cpu
Why msmpeng.exe cause my computer lock in place... and consume so much CPU usage... and how can I fix the problem?...
Hi schuylerwoods,
- Did you the latest changes on the computer?
- You have a third-party security software installed on the computer?
- When exactly the computer freezes?
Msmpeng.exe process is used by the Microsoft Windows Defender to perform the procedures for scanning of spyware.
It is also possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.
I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

An App called AppleMobileDeviceService.exe constantly takes 50% of the CPU usage. I am not connected to iTunes and my iPod is connected to my PC when this .exe runs with 50% usage. Apple suggested that contact Microsoft. I use oper AX. sys. Apple has suggested to contact Microsoft.
Hi Armycyrus,
Have you done a recent software or hardware changes to the system?
Method 1:

Windows XP can be updated to use all the RAM on a PC?
Hi all
I have a question that concerns me for centuries. Then Windows XP updated so that it can use all the RAM on a PC? The reason why I ask this is that I find a bit strange that my custom PC has a total of 8GBs of RAM but XP only can use a 2.96GBs total or 3GBs if I use one of my two video cards (currently using a GPU SLI configuration). So is one such update for XP or I'd be better off getting Win7 or Win8 when it comes out?
If I'm not mistaken, you need a 64-bit o/s (hardware Inc.) to address more than 4 GB.
I hope this helps.

Activate by phone
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/84488-activate-Vista-phone.html
Please note this step #9If the activation service informs you that she has failed and cannot help with activation, then STAY ON THE LINE and your call will be transferred to an operator of activation which will help you to activate your copy of Vista. The operator will give you all the numbers to ID of Confirmation if they accept that your copy of Vista is legitimate.
NOTE: The operator just explain your situation and what you did to require activation. (EX: hardware upgrade, installed Vista on a new computer after uninstalling it from the old one, etc...) -
