Switchable graphics on Satellite L650

Hi there everyone!

I would like to really know if Toshiba plans (I hope!) to publish an update of the Bios for the Satellite L650, enabling the switch between the graphics card discrete and that soon included in the matrix of the CPU (i5 series).

The so-called "Switchable Graphics" is already available on some Acer (Timeline X), some Asus laptop and other brands, and I'd really like to see it applied on Toshiba laptops, at the risk of increasing the autonomy of the battery (double it or even more) and are just more efficient and "greener".

The Toshiba L650 I mean should have all the necessary elements: Calpella HM55 chipset, i5 and 5650 mobility (and Windows 7).
Why not take advantage of something that can be used even on this laptop?

Thanks to a bouquet. :)

Hi Dany

It is user forum and nobody here knows with certainty what Toshiba will do in the future.
As far as I know Toshiba has offered some BIOS updates for all models in the past so I think this will happen for your laptop model too but what will be new in this update of the BIOS is not easy to say.

So, you have to wait and see what happens the next few months.

  • Need for new drivers graphics for Satellite L650

    Hi all

I'll explain my situation, I think that many others have this same problem with the toshiba now.
There is 1 year and some months pass after I got my first laptop Toshiba Satellite L650-11F and at first I thought this computer will work without problems for at least 2 years. Well, today I found a 'BIG' problem with the toshiba... I can't install the new drivers for my graphics card AMD ATI Mobility RADEON HD 5650 driver AMD's official website.

Today I buy Battlefield 3 for my machine, but my drivers are old, cannot properly manage the graphics and the solution is to download the new drivers from AMD, but it is impossible. What I'm asking is for the Toshiba Dev new pilots ready AMD download as quickly as possible, because right now, I had in hands a game that was supposed to operate without a problem and the old drivers killed the game completely.

I get all the time new drivers for WIFI all the time, I don't need that. My graphics card is not updates for almost 1 year, is a joke!

It is well known that display or graphic drivers for mobile devices (laptops) should be downloaded from the laptop manufacturer's download page. The proposed drivers should be tested. Many people have reported the same thing, but in general, it is not new.

Mobile units have a specific design built in cooling system is designed to cool the material placed in laptop Briefcase. New strength of graphics card drivers can force a graphics card to run with more power and offer more performance. More performance means more heat. If the cooling cooling system canoe result graphic adapter will be overheating or even damage the equipment.

The reason why the manufacturers of portable don t which s provide drivers of graphics update so often that the manufacturers of cards designed for desktop computers.

Another thing: the series laptops are not the best machines for the games. I have used several laptops from Toshiba in the past, and this is my personal opinion.

  • Satellite Pro A300 - is a switchable graphics?

    Hello Forum Toshiba,

    I am owner of a Toshiba Satellite Pro A 300 PSAGDA-02000R.
My question is, if the laptop supports switchable graphics hybrid?
I was searching Internet for days, but I have not found an adequate answer to my question.
I found this brochure: http://www.bmstech.com.au/Brochures/toshiba/PSAGDA-02000R.pdf with specifications of the laptop.
I found this offer with a Satellite Pro A 300 with a different model number providing Switchable Graphics:

one is + SLI + which allow the graficcards to connenct 2
and the other + Intel Graphics Media Accelerator + located IN the northbridge to accelerate to access the ram and grafics

and what you want to do with that + "hybrid Switchable Graphics +?

  • Satellite L650-BT2N23: reading Blu - ray as part of the Intel HD graphics card

I'm considering the purchase of the Satellite L650-BT2N23 with Blu - ray player, but it does not come with a discreet graphics card.

My only option is the integrated graphics card Intel HD, and I fear that Blu - ray playback can suffer.

Can someone give an opinion on this?
    Thank you.

    Hello

Please read some information on the page of Intel on the Intel HD graphics chip.
The chip is called HD because it is able to process HD video which means it should eb strong enough to work with the blu - ray!

So in your case I wouldn't be afraid. The graphics chip is OK for video content high definition!

  • Satellite L650-11R - updated graphics card drivers

    Hello!

I have a Satellite L650-11R(that's what's written on the box) and my problem is that I found the latest drivers for my Mobility Radeon HD 5650 series and when well even as the site of AMD says that this driver is mobility graphics cards when I want to install the computer tells me that these drivers support not my graphic instrument and if I go to Device Manager the only card that appears is the VGA! So now the only drivers that I can install are outdated (8.753.0.0)
And im wondering why I am condemned to use these wwhen out-of-date driver clearly there's more recent avalible?

    I hope some1 reading this!

    Hi yusty,.

Why you are looking for on the AMD Web site directly to the latest drivers? All drivers for your computer is located on the Toshiba official European driver download page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

And I don t understand why it s a problem with older drivers. Not always the most recent driver is the best.
In addition, only the drivers provided on the official website of Toshiba are pre-tested and designed for your laptop. Install the other drivers that happens on your own risk

  • Improvement of the graphics card for Satellite L650

    Hello

I have a Satellite L650 and I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the integrated graphics card Intel one if all right a dedicated with at least 512 MB. I tried to look around and it does not appear if you can, however, I'm not the most technologically advanced person.

Also, if possible, would have a link provided to a graphics card that would work?

  • Satellite L650-16V - graphics update required

    Hallo

I have a Satellite L650 16V, with the graphics card card Intel(r) HD graphics.
Now, I've had this computer for about 2 years, so I still consider it new.

The problem is, he can't play a lot of computer games, many of them lagg like crazy, and some may not even be open. There is a website called canirunit, where you can check if you cable to run a game.
And when I check the games, the problem always is the graphics.

Not because my graphics card are not big enough, I meet all the requirements, but is still says:
Suggested update: Unfortunately, your video card does not meet this requirement.

So my question is, if there is some sort of update I do or so?
    I've updated my drivers.

    I hope you can help!

    Hello

Because there is a big difference between s computer laptop and desktop PC, design the graphics chip is not extensible.
In most cases, the GPU is a part of the motherboard and not removable.
But even if the GPU should be plugged only, the other GPU would not work and that it would not compatible.

So if you are a heavy gamer, its always better to have an office for the games because the desktop PC are more easily extensible and all parts such as GPU, CPU, motherboard, even can be improved.

Upgradable portable parts are: memory, HARD drive and in some very rare cases of the CPU.

  • Satellite L750D - configure switchable graphics don't is not updated

You just bought a new Toshiba Satellite L750D - AMD A8 - 3500M with AMD Radeon HD 6620 G today

Implemented, but have the problem where to put graphic properties to configure switchable graphics for some applications such as Skype. When I select high performance and click on update it back to Unassigned. And this continues to happen for other apps as well

    What's wrong?

    Kind regards
    Alex

    Hello

Do you mean switchable graphics AMD technology that switches between graphic internal Intel and external ATI GPU?
As far as I know that this is not supported. Only the switch between Intel <->nVidia (called optimus technology) is supported.

  • Satellite L650-11F - cannot install driver page of the ATI graphics card

I just bought a Satellite L650-11f and tried to update the drivers for my Ati hd5650.
The problem is the control of catalyst can I install without problem but when I try to install the site display drivers driver ati I get this error:
ATI catalyst mobility can t be downloaded due to the incompatibility of hardware/software on your computer. The version of your driver card is not supported. for an update of the graphics driver, contact the manufacturer of your laptop.

How should I update with the latest display drivers cause the manufacturer are 6 months old?

    Hello

You have a few problems with the Toshiba display driver?
Graphics drivers from Toshiba are modified for mobile use, this means that the Toshiba drivers support for GPU overheating protection.
ATI drivers don t support this protection and this is the reason why you get this message.
Generally, you have to take the driver of Toshiba page

Of course, it is possible to install the ATI drivers also.
But you would need to install the driver in Device Manager.
To use the Advanced installation procedure that would allow to choose the driver downloaded from the ATI page you simply forcing windows to choose such driver

But note; You can use these drivers ONLY at your own risk

  • Satellite L650-14F - model graphics card

Can you please tell me, what exactly is the Ati video version for this laptop? I bought a laptop 4-5 months ago and just now realized that on this site, model was HD 5145 but mine is HD4500.

Thank you and sorry for my language

    Hey,.

Satellite L650 is generally equipped with a different graphics card. Some models have only integrated Intel graphics card.

In any case, according to the technical specification of L650-14F it s equipped with the graphics card ATI HD5145 and I can t find out more on the official website of Toshiba.

If your laptop must have the mentioned graphics card and should be included in the display driver and Device Manager.
    Can you confirm this?

  • Satellite Pro R850-10V - switchable graphics ATI 6450 M / Intel HD3000

Unfortunately, right now the R series does not offer a switchable graphic option between the integrated graphics chipset (Intel HD Graphics 3000) and him dedicated ATI 6450 M.

I have a model R850-10V with an i5 - 2410M and there is no option in the BIOS to such a choice, who would help a lot to increase the autonomy of the battery using only the onboard graphics for example.
Could see us in the future upgrade of bios that would allow this integrated graphics?

It's a shame, because all other important producers (HP, Lenovo, Acer) who use ATI 6450/6470/6490 M graphics integrated solution, updated their bios to allow a switchable graphics option.

    Thank you.

    > Could see us in the future upgrade of bios that would allow this integrated graphics?
Very good question, but on the wrong place. This is the forum user and you will not get an official statement here.

Let's see if Toshiba is going to change anything, and perhaps offer some update BIOS.

  • Re: Satellite L650 PSK1JA: cannot read 2nd life due to the old GPU driver

    Hello

I have a windows 7, Toshiba Satellite L650 PSK1JA 0K 4017, ATI mobility Radeon HD5650 video card and I m unable to use second life (everything in the universe is a pink color) and its unusable because I need a display driver updated

I tried the AMD site and am unable to install their drivers as they say that they are not compatible and I need to get my driver from the manufacturer (toshiba)

Problem is that the Toshiba display driver is very outdated 15/03/2010
When will they ever update this particular driver and if not what anyone know a work around for this problem.

Why is the old driver. ?? If I can fix t this problem I'm going to buy a new laptop and it certainly won't be a Toshiba again. Useless, if they update their drivers.

    > When will they ever update this particular driver and if not what anyone know a work around for this problem.
I put t when drivers will be updated, but there is a workaround to install the driver AMD/ATI on Toshiba laptop. You must do so via Device Manager.

First you need to download the driver and need to save it somewhere on the HARD drive (IE desktop). Unzip the package. Then, go to the Device Manager, choose the graphics card and choose Update driver. Now, we must choose the 2nd install option that allows you to point to the downloaded folder and choose the location where the driver must be installed.
Then point to the driver folder saved on the desktop and the system should pick up the files automatically.

    Welcome them

  • Error of Minecraft OpenGL on Satellite L650 - 1 M 8

Hey guys, I hope you can help me.

So I have a Toshiba Satellite L650 - 1 M 8 Mobile and last year, I bought and downloaded Minecraft for play.
At the opening, I get the classic error of OpenGL.
I tried for hours searching the web for solutions to this problem that I badly want to play what I paid for.

I contacted Mojang on this issue, they cannot help because of different systems in the world, he is present to diversify for them, so that they are limited to billing and account. I have read several discussions on this issue and do not yet have a solution.

Recently, I saw a thread on the forums of Toshiba someone fixed it for their kids to play, but they are computer laptop was a different model to mine.

My graphics card is Intel(r) HD Graphics, there is no option for the display driver in Device Manager. This has been updated with the latest version of the Toshiba support, as well as my version of Java later.

    Please help, thanks.

Try the Intel display driver that you can download from the Intel page.

Additional note: there is already a thread on this topic:

So it of not necessary to open new discussions on the same theme.

  • Game Minecraft OpenGL satellite L650 - driver update problem - PSK1E

    Hello

I know that several posts have already highlighted this problem.

    I have a Satellite L650 PSK1EE.
Sorry if this is not the right place to post but I could not find anywhere else to start a new thread.

Essentially my children want to use * Minecraft * on this laptop. I downloaded it but get the error message that my graphics driver is not compatible opengl. I only have Intel. So I tried the usual driver updates, then I tried to download a generic Intel driver but I don't know which one is right.

Once I have selected * chart * then * laptop graphics driver * s then I get the choice between 2nd or 3rd generation processors, accelerators and mobile chipsets, which none means nothing to me and I'm stuck.

It seems that some people have managed to circumvent the built-in graphics card driver and update manually one this way, once you know what you download and then unzip and so on...

Of course, I can waste my time.

If anyone knows how to proceed, I'd be very grateful for any help so that I can stop spending hours Googling this.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

You must install the Intel HD driver.
Try this driver of graphics Intel HD for Win 7 and Win 8

You must choose the zip (NOT exe) for System 32-bit or 64-bit package according to the version of the system that is installed on your laptop.
