Sync folder is synchronize the catalog files?

So - the option synchronize the folder is an excellent feature that I use on all my readers project and great work.

Since it works very well - I thought that I use it on my "Pictures" (Mac) folder and let it auto sync them. The problem is that Lightroom files are there and he wants to synchronize all the 30 inch k LR files created for previews?

Is it possible to exclude this folder?

I just moved the files LR off the photos folder-all good now.

  • Is it possible to synchronize the copied file in the local folder with the original file in the network?

    Hello

I copied a file from the shared network folder and it is really important document, so I need to use this file as a file off the local drive connection and backup as well just in case where the cause accidental, but I don't want to save it each time and don't want to use the original file in the network.

Is it possible to automatically synchronize the copied file in the local folder with the original file in the network?

    Thank you

Absolutely without interruption would require a program to write that monitors files on the file locks and triggers a sync as soon as he sees a change.  So, since we cannot just write a program, the best thing is either:

    (1) an icon on your desktop that you can click each time you want to synchronize "synchronize my files now.

    or

    (2) plan the "my sync files' to run automatically every x minutes.  It could be a batch script that checks to see if the file is more recent and copies only files that have changed.  Although perhaps a little aggressive, you could plan this thing check-and-copy-a batch file - again to run every 60 seconds.

Batch files allow you to control the operations very directly, but Microsoft has also made a (not supported) tool called SyncToy who does all the same things, but has a graphical interface to select your options. It can be programmed to run automatically on a schedule.

  • How to synchronize the catalog between mac pro and imac?

I recently bought a macbook pro to work on the road.

Since I was a very big picture library (catalogue of 25 GB, + / 40000 photos), I enclose the keywords to make a nice database.

It is a hell of a job. But with my laptop now I could kill time and I am working on my catalog everywhere. This is the big idea.

I would like the same catalog to keep being synchronized between my imac and laptop. My Imac is still my main computer. This is attached to my NAS system and the database of photos of 6 TB.

All the images are in a catalog. On my laptop I don't need access to this database of real images. I just want to make selections, add keywords. Is there some way this can be done easily, without paying attention to the rather, I'm working on my laptop or My Imac, to avoid disrupting the catalogues.

When I import new images on my laptop, I make a new catalog and import/export this to my main catalog, once my files are on their place on my NAS system.

    Hi Wannesnim,

What you describe is more or less how I work all the time. I use Dropbox to synchronize my catalog and use Smart Previews (also synced via Dropbox) to work with my images. I use a MacBook Pro on the go and a Windows machine at home. I created a video tutorial explaining how this is done:

  • Question of location/duplicate the catalog files

I need assistance with my location of the catalog.  I restored from backup after resetting my computer.  Now, I have original photos on a D drive and I have a copy (maybe not a complete copy) on the C drive.

I already had my catalog and my original photos on D (I think).

Now when I add new photos, where should I put them?  I would like to put it on D, but all other pictures in the catalogue are on C.

I would like to have everything on D and do not have a copy of everything.

I don't want to lose one of the photos on D that are not in the catalog for a reason any.

    JoeBusher wrote:

I opened the catalog of pse14 to move D:\Pictures 04 04 2015\Joe (1 mod 23/11/15 285 MB).  The properties for the pictures are all over D.

    I also opened pse14 catalog at C:\Photoshop\Joe 1 (375MB mod 25/12/15).  Those are all on C.

Thank you for your help.  I feel that we are making progress.  What should I do next?

First, use the catalog to D: now to import new files. Make sure you set your preferences to import files from the card or the scans to the D: drive.

Then you can compare what is on C: and D: catalog to make sure that they are the same. You can use the Explorer / Finder to remove duplicates for free space on C:.

I guess that you always backup folder that you have used before: keep to make sure you have extra security before you do the cleaning on C:.

You can delete unwanted catalogs since the Organizer catalog manager.

  • CC synchronizes the same files over and over again?

I have a 2.63 GB folder full of I want to transfer files.

I tried zip but the Zip file was too big; CC apparently has the same size as the free services limit? Disappointing; I made the files larger than 2 GB single PSB.

So I copied the entire folder to the creative Cloud Files folder, at the request of my computer to wait 8 hours before closing off the coast (it would take 6 hours) and left for Thanksgiving.

When I got home, it was not done yet, some files have been synchronized, but not all. It says "sync files # 33", still going to last for 1 to 8 hours. Every day I start my computer, let it sync all day, and at the end of the day, he always says "Synchronizing folder # 33. I checked it often in recent days, it has been up to left 'file 22 of 33' with 1 hour, but it always resets to "Syncing file 1 of 33" with 6 + hours remaining. During today it seems not having synchronized a single file to another computer.

Bottom line, I've been running 3 days and even to leave the machine on during the night. The thing is supposed to be "timing", but I did not always transfer the skinny 2.63 GB. I suspended / rebooted several times I need sometimes width soundtrack using to the top. I could have delivered a USB key everywhere in the country now if I knew it was so unable. I feel to chip away by this system, I need something that actually facilitates collaboration.

    Hello

You can try and delete the two files that are originally a problem once we can check what are the two files is that from there, we can go. Have you sent in your log files? above details...

  • Files are missing from the catalog files

I have upgreaded to 10 items and when you perform the conversion catalogue many of the records in the new catalogue are missing the files (photos). When I right-click on these files and try to add the files that I can see the missing files, try to transfer but at the end I get this: files or folders selected to import did not contain not all types of supported files or the files are already in this folder "- BUT - files are not in the folder in the catalog. They are in the folder on my computer that I am able to access it easily - they simply do not end up in the respective folders to the catalog. I use Windows XP Pro and all my folders and files are on an external drive and are set in memory when I download pictures from my camera. I don't have this number before - how can I get these files in the folder in the catalog?-j' tried establishing a new catalog and tried to convert it again with the same results - please advise-thanks in advance

Convert selected your organizer to use 'Thumbnail View' and you should see your photos.  The "location" view folder does not show the photos if they are in the subfolders of the selected folder.

  • Vista backup care contains only the catalog files

I got Windows Vista the value to automatically save to a network drive.  I haven't used the computer for a couple of years, so he sat and the laptop battery has been cut.  I discovered more of my photo on my new computer files are missing and I tried to restore from my backup of this old computer which contained all the photos I had ever taken, but now some if these images went on the old computer also.  I use the original computer to restore the files as the new computer does not see the network drive.

  • Error copying file or folder: cannot read the source file or disk.

My problem occurs when you try to copy on the same computer I am on (or to a remote drive).  I get one of these messages in the dialog "error copying file or folder.

    box:

Impossible to copy 'Filename': data error (cyclic redundancy check).
Impossible to copy 'Filename': cannot read the source file or disk.

    Hey Norton victim,

    (a) what is your operating system?
    (b) what program file you are not able to copy?

As the files are copied, Windows verifies that the data that has been copied are the same as the source files. The cyclic redundancy check (CRC) error occurs when the copied data does not match the original.

This could be down to a mistake of the DVD, the disc goes wrong and has failed to 'read' the file properly or the file was placed on a bad sector on your hard drive. (Could be just down to a scratch or some marks on the dvd, maybe clean it if necessary and try again).

I would run a check disk (CHKDSK) against the drive to rule that, although lacking - you have another dvd player to try the disc again? If so, try the dvd in another drive, or even a completely different machine to try to pin-point the problem.

At the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    Chkdsk /r

Note: If bad sectors are detected when running check disk utility and attempt recovery of bad sectors is verified during the verification of the drive for errors, data in the bad sector can be lost as they tried to recover bad sectors.

  • How can you save the original with the catalog file file after edit

    OK I'll try boarding.

First of all, I shoot a game... According to 600 photos. Import the game in lightroom, I mark the photos I want and delete the catalog. I edit and rename and export the files I want the game. say 300 photos.

My question is; After saving the 300 photos in the catalogue how match the original photos with those exported if they match.

I think that the best answer is to change your workflow.

I never export photos except for a specific purpose (e-mail, web, print), and then after that I used the photos exported, I remove the exports. I do not export them just to have sitting around on my hard drive for some whose use is more later. In this way, the photo is still available in Lightroom, and if you want this photo retouched, you go into Lightroom and find and export as required. It is not question to match to originals with exported given that you do not keep the exported photos once they have served their purpose (e-mail, web, print).

  • What is the catalog file and how can I find?

    @

    Hi sylviac

A catalog is a database of the location of your photos and the information about them. When you change the pictures, rates, add keywords or other things to photos in Lightroom, all these changes are stored in the catalog. The photo files themselves are not affected. To create a new catalog: -.

    • Open Lightroom
    • New catalog, select file (Menu bar)

  • 5.6 Lightroom cc for Mac and Canon 6 d when adding to the catalog file corruption

    Hello

I was testing my newly purchased (August 5, 2014) Canon 6 d camera shooting through the window of a car in motion and also to wander. I used the setting scene Intelligence automatic, shooting in single shot mode and burst mode. I used the kit lens Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 for the 6 d. I use LR 5.6 CC to download the CR2 files in a catalog. Before you download, I check the images to preview the camera 6 d and all feature the exact pictures - color and image look. However, when you use LR, because I'm downloading the CR2s or convert to DNG for my LR catalog, I noticed on the miniature Strip changes some of the images that are imported into inches showing shifts of color and blank white areas. After that LR has treated images as DNG or CR2s the transformed is now resemble these corrupt inches. Many images came out with sections of each image showing a rectangular area of the negative image (i.g. that the sky was purple, the orange trees, etc.) Also two of the white images expect for the a quarter circle of color distorted and negative imagery.

When I try the software download from Canon, pictures are accurate, so I know card memory of the camera and, without doubt, the camera are not at fault. Any suggestions as to why I can experience this problem and how to solve?

I use a Mac Book Pro 2012 and have my LR catalog on a hard drive external.

    Thank you.

This only applies for the thumbnails? CR2 or DNG files look OK after using development settings? You create previews or standard full-size import? Have you tried to apply an import defined by default as your starting point?

  • Where is the folder in which the swf file for Extensions of the Illustrator

    Hi all

I can place SWFs in Photoshop and Indesign file panels and they appear fine in the menu of the extension, but everywhere where I place the SWF in Illustrator files, it just does not appear anywhere. Can someone tell me where should I place them?

    TIA Loïc

    Hi love,

The right way to install Extensions of CS is with an installer ZXP.

    The extensions belong to:

    CS5ServiceManager/extensions / [ExtensionName]

You need the manifest file in the subfolder CSXS, as well as the swf file in the main folder. The manifest file contains the individual app where/what it is to install the extension.
