Synology Diskstation Backup cannot be played on OSX

Hello

I have a USB external backup of a Synology Diskstation, I am doing on OSX 10.11

I remember doing it successfully in the past with OS x 10.10 and OSXFuse, a utility that allowed me to extend the Finder to read filesystems not natively handled by OSX.

In 10.12, when I pull the high disk utility, disk appears, but it is not recognized and it reports of a unknown file system, even if it seems that I managed to install OSXFuse.

Anyone who manages to get this working?

Thank you

NIC

I have exactly the same problem. With the help of the last OSXFuse, Mac OS 10.11.3 and a USB stick formatted on my Synology in EXT4.

I measured the speeds and get 3 MB/s reading and writing on wi fi. Direct connection to a gigabit switch that directly relates to NAS both via CAT6 - makes about 35 MB/s reading and 50 MB/s in writing.

I read a review that has measured the same device and got a 74.5 MB/s write speed and a 56.4 MB/s read speed

Is there a particular issue or the goal or the question you are interested in here?   It is clear that you are looking for performance and a few comparisons, but it's not clear (to me) where you're going with this.  Can also check with Synology people, too.

    A few generic comments follow...

In general...  A Wi - Fi connection is slow, and Wi - Fi with interference makes even slower connections.      Descent and with a tailwind, I expect a little more than 200 Mbps (megabits per second, not megabytes) with semi-recent-grade Wi - Fi 5 GHz dual-slot, assuming a backhaul wired on the gigabit NAS and assuming no interference from Wi - Fi or claim.

Rusty storage rotation is slow and subject to the configuration.

Red WD appears without RPM - "Intellipower", with some comments showing a player ~ 5400 RPM, which is quite slow and at no time access in the technical sheets.  If a seller do not post access time and transfer speeds for a disk drive, the device is not intended to be a particularly fast device.  WD indicates both in the note on the sheet, too.

For most RAID controllers, RAID-1 mirror means the two Scriptures - written to each disk in the mirror game - must fill in before the host i/o is complete.   This slows down the write speed.   If the RAID controller is intelligent - and not all RAID controllers are very smart, then it will give you the first available reading rates from the game of mirror, based on the position of rotation.  Many will just take a drive and give you the e/s as the sector turns around, so you will be waiting on average a demi-revolution.

If you want a faster access to the storage, stay off WiFi and use two SSD storage or upgrade these disks to 15 K RPM disks configured as a RAID 0 striped.   High-end and storage gear company - the older, hard-disk-based - gets its performance to have zillions of small discs of 15 K RPM configured with disk and controller wholesale large caches, controllers (by rotation-aware) smart and with RAID 10 storage configurations or similar.

To compare the performance of the device, the configuration of these benchmarks and what you are testing is important.  Reference material, as well as the speeds measured since the test of Windows.

  • Message: "some items in the iTunes library... no were not copied to iPod... because they cannot be played on iPod.

I get the message "Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on iPod."  The listed songs have always copied, sync would and played on my iPod. My iPod is old, but I've never had this message before. Go listen to songs on my Mac.

This looks like what happened a few weeks ago.  I quit iTunes, then he revived.  The problem disappeared and has not returned.

Same problem, cannot delete the backup if I do it on my iPhone or my Mac.

Apple support personnel I talked on the phone has confirmed that she could see several backups on my iCloud, even if I am only able to see a. It is also noted that she find it strange that my backups are not crash each time it backups and a few other backups are dated on the same period of time.

She said that this is apparently a known issue, and Apple is aware of it.

    Wonder how true it is.

    Hi IdahoMt,

    1. are you able to select the other readers?

I would ask you to set the computer to clean the start state, and then try to run the backup and verify.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow the steps as explained in the article to reset the computer to start as usual.

  • The backup cannot be restored, 5s

My 5s in a bad iPhone stuck and I had to restore to factory settings and delete everything. After that, I have connected my phone to iTunes through the computer and began restoring the backup. He started very well but the duration became longer and longer. I left my phone charge all night and in the morning he said that it would take another 17 hours. I had to unplug my phone because I needed it elsewhere. Nothing seemed to be coming, but later that day, some of my previous images has been published to my phone, but not all. After that I repeatedly tried to reconnect the phone to iTunes through the computer, but even that will not always work. When it works, I try to restore the backup and boot normally until a certain time, my phone is itshelf (without me even being close to her). I have all the updates, there are no other connected USB keys, I rebooted everything but nothing works. I have these images and some other information elsewhere, so I'd love to continue restoring the backup, but what can I do? Thank you

    Hello

It may be useful to follow the steps here, as the case may be:

When connecting your iPhone to your computer, make sure you use a certified by Apple or an Apple original cable / cable of the IFM. If you are already doing so, try to use another cable of the same type (that is, only it is authentic or certified).

Also check the port of loading on your iPhone and the USB port on your computer for debris.

  • Point is not available. This point cannot be played. On the devices only.

    Hello

Devices are iPhone 6 and mini iPad 3, both running 9.3 last have been re started and re set and sync with iTunes. They have also been included as new devices after back to the top and re sync. Therefore, I have to ask here, as Apple support constantly cut me and not remember unfortunately.

all my music plays on iTunes on my lap top without problem. However the music on my aforementioned devices only play music. The rest are grayed out with the error "point is not available. Cannot read this article»

So, can anyone advise how to get all my music on iTunes play correctly on all my devices without the error "item available, impossible to read this article" Please?

.. .to add, it started after the cancellation of subscription of Apple's music.

  • Vista backup cannot reuse the same flash drive

How can I reuse my flash drive to another backup? Vista knows it has been used before, even if I deleted the old backup.
    thanx

    Hi Joy77,

Is there anything else being stored on another flash drive backups? Otherwise, you might save a few headaches and just format your drive.

    Warning

    • Formatting a volume will destroy all data on the partition. Be sure to make backups of all the data to save before you begin.

    • You cannot format a disk or partition that is currently in use, including the partition that contains Windows.

    • Quick format is a formatting option that creates a new file table, but do not completely overwrite or erase the volume. A quick format is much faster than a normal format, which fully erases the existing data on the volume.

    1. Open Computer Management by clicking on the button start , clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools and then double-click computer management.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. In the Navigation pane, under storage, click Disk Management.

    3. Right-click the volume you want to format and then click on format.

    4. To format the volume with the default settings in the dialog box format, click OK, and then click OK again.

For more information about the formatting of a partition, see create and format a hard disk partition.

  • Windows 7 backup skipped image system because one of the critical-volumes backup cannot be included for backup. Make sure the volume is online and is formatted NTFS. (0 x 81000032)

After using the backup of Windows 7, I get the following error message:

Backup Windows jumped backup system image because one of the critical volumes cannot be included for backup. Make sure the volume is online and is formatted NTFS. (0 x 81000032)

The backup is set to include an image of disk system: RECOVERY, DRIVE (d), OS (c :))

"RECOVERY, DRIVE (d :))" in car is a partition of 2 GB of the hard drive internal, such as configured by Dell, and it is formatted in FAT32.  I tried to reformat the NTFS volume, but were unsuccessful.  I also looked at a certain way to omit this volume, but have still been in vain.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you.

Do not assign a drive letter to the partition recovery/player. Open "Disk Management" and decommissioning (without drive letter) and backup and restore performance.

  • Peope get a message "cannot be played back. Close for the day' to our email. Why?

Once send us an email to someone, they get it and they send a response. Then they receive an e-mail from us with the subject: "cannot play". The text reads: "Shut down for the day." Then we receive an e-mail from the person, ask yourself if we got their email (which we did) and wonder why they got that email from us.

When people meet, they send the message directly to your address (company), or through an intermediary (for example, marketing services that lists the response to emailing campaigns)?

How many computers have incoming access to your mailbox? If you share with other users, try to have everyone log to see if the message can be sent by the server , rather than from one of your individual email clients.

You can reproduce the problem by sending a message from a personal e-mail account? That would let you inspect message headers and see if there is an IP address, identifying a particular computer as the source.

  • 10 Windows installed cannot see my drive OSX

Google brought me here because I just installed 10 Windows via Boot Camp, and I can't see my drive OSX.  I can't remove basic storage as it is a merger.  I guess that this problem has never been fixed by Apple?

Is there any third party/app driver who can afford that?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Cannot install Windows 10 OSX Boot Camp 10.11.8

I wonder if a solution was developed for the installation of 10 64-bit Windows in Boot Camp again.  I have a hard drive 3 TB of fusion that I partitioned (1 TB for Windows 10) via Boot Camp.   When I start the computer in Windows install (on thumb drive) and choose the partition to install Windows 10 in, I get a message that the partition is formatted in GPT not NTFS.  I click on the format button, but it loop back to that error message about TPG.

I get no further than that.

I left and I restarted the mac OSX, entered the windows to manually thinking NTFS partition partitioning regular and formatted program that it would solve the problem.

When I rebooted on the thumb drive and restarted the Windows installation, I got the same error (INCORRECT FORMAT).

I read about the solutions of terminal mode using Linux command, but hey, Boot Camp should take care of this without all this extra work that could potentially break the fuser unit I am correct?

Or is this a Microsoft problem because the format function does not work in the Windows Installer?

If anyone can help us with that, I would be greatly appreciated.

    See you soon.

  • Cannot delete played podcasts episodes

    Hello

I used to put podcasts downloaded in a playlist named "podcast".

And sync with my ipod playlist.

When I tried to delete and delete played files, I used the [option] + [delete] to delete the iTunes library files and put them in the trash.

But now the [option] + [del] does not work. Do not remove the titles of the playlist. They stay in the library and do not go to the trash!

I don't understand why. No update, no change on my mac!

The combination (alt)-(delete) works with music files.

    All the ideas! Thank you!
