System preferences will not be locked OS 10.7.5

The Energy saver system preference is not locked. I have to reset each time I start up

Quit System preferences

In Finder, go to the "Go" menu and enter ~/Library/Preferences

Delete these files/folders:

/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences .plist

com.Apple.SystemPreferences.xxx.plist all of them if more than one.

Then, restart or log off and insert it again.

OK you have an ETHERNET cable? (cable for PC to the Modem)
    What OS do you have?

Heres to help, you need to an ethernet cable, or adapter wireless XBOX 360.

With the ethernet cable, connect one end on the XBOX and one end to your laptop.
You go to control panel > network and Internet > network and sharing Center > change the adapter settings. Then you select your wireless network and your local network. Then you right click and press 'CONNECTION of BRIDGE' (requires administrator privileges). After that your DONE! Just check if it works on your XBOX 360!

    System Restore will not work

    Hi FriendFriend,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. do you have security software installed on the computer?

    3. you receive an error message when running the system restore?

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state, and then try to clean boot.

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • System preferences will be open not or force them to leave

    MacBook Pro 2012, OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

Hello, as he tried to use time machine to back up my mac on a disk external I found that time machine does not open. I then tried to open the system preferences and concluded that it would not be, nor will it force quit. I tried to do in both the menu command/option/esc and inside the activity monitor, but none works. I can't reboot my computer until closing system preferences. Can anyone help?

What happens if you press the button at the top right? Essentially to try a forced stop?

  • Why my system preferences does not open?

Hey guys! I posted my system specs before you start.

Anywho, after a fresh clean install of OSX El Capitan (because my iMac crashed recently and I had to wipe my hard drive completely... Yes, there was a lot of tears), like, literally yesterday, I can't open my system preferences. As I click on the sign of the Apple at the top left, then go to System Preferences...

    This is what happens...

The small system preferences icon bounces just bounces... bounce... and then... nothing... to frikkin' ever. I have to force it to quit. I try again and again, same thing. So, I go in Applications run in 32-bit mode, try again and guess what? Celestial tracks. No problem... UNTIL I try to choose an option, any option, and he ALWAYS tells me it need to restart System preferences to open whatever it is, then proceeds to give me spinwheel thing... and then crashes and I have to force quit... again.

So, I suppose, in 64-bit and 32-bit, it does not work properly. And Yes, for the love of God, I already tried the delete your whole com.apple.systempreferences.plist, but also the other things that other forums will tell you to remove in system preferences.

Note: another issue, I felt at the same time, it's that for the life of me I can't Time Machine to notice my external hard drive. I tried updating all the disks on my external hard drive, repair permissions, first aid, USB 3.0 update, power cycling, rebooting with alt + cmmnd + P + R, single-user mode, fcsk, safe mode, most first aid,... like, what the hell is happening? Laughing out loud

Went to check internet and homepage made was different called Web search. I usually www.abc.net.au homepage. Went into system preferences in safari and zilch, not a thing. Still no way to open system prefs in Safari.

  • Two issues here, 1st system restore will not restore, also wireless do not detect all networks

Prob with system restore is everything goes well until the pc restarts, then get the restoration of of message without any changes have been made to your computer, this tent after several different restore points.

The prob with connection Wi - Fi (intel pro 2200 bg) is it doesn't find any networks, pilot verified also that his permit, any help there ain't a pc wizz so any advice appreciated

System Restore is not a panacea.  If this can help depends on what specific changes you want to cancel.

Which leads to the question: what is is happened just before things stopped working?

You do not mention if one of potential errors 13 to restore the system applied to you, or if none did, this error message you got when you tried to use the system restore.

    To do this:

Tried the keys that turn off wifi nothing not even the light that says its /running activated

say that the light associated with your wifi adapter is not turned on or off?  If Yes, I suppose that the light is 'off' now, correct?

Further, I guess that the wifi card is internal and you have a portable computer.  What is the brand and model of your computer?

Open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK)
Click on the + sign next to "network adapters."
If there is an icon of warning/error next to an entry, double-click the entry and to report to what appears under the "Device status" and "Use of the device" (both on the general tab).

Go to network connections (start > run > ncpa.cpl > OK)
Right-click on the icon for your wireless adapter and select Properties
You will see a screen like this, and if so, is the on your box is checked the--> http://screenshots.modemhelp.net/screenshots/Windows_XP/Network_Connections/Wireless_Network_Connection/Properties/Wireless_Networks/Index.shtml

  • System Restore will not restore complete

My computer started running verrrry slowly, so I ran to the restoration of the system. I ran it several times, both in and out of Safe Mode, with different restore points, but the food never ends. I've also run System File Checker, but the system restore does not always end. I made a new user who had no Favorites (of course), logged as a user and just copied user Jose Favorites to the new favorites of the user folder and they appear in IE and work very well.  Favorites are just text files.  There is no register of edition.

rpggamergal - is there a reason that does not work?

If your user original is/was really altered, apparently tidy to subsequently remove it and if you change your registry database to point to the folders and files in the "corrupt" user account, they would all stop working.  Changing the registry will work (I think), but it's almost like cheating to me.

If you change the registry, every time you make a new favorite, he will enter the profile that have been corrupted. Does make sense?   If it is really corrupt, I would completely RID.

I don't think you should have made a new user first return to page 1.  This is not the problem with your system restore.

How your system restore works now by the way?  This is your original problem.  Now you introduce new users, copy the profiles, change the registry, etc..  I've never had to do these sorts of things just fix SR.

I think that your hole is to widen my friend...

  • Reference Dell system detect will not download

I have a Dell Inspiron 3647 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. It has 8 GB of RAM. Recently, I flashed the BIOS on the Dell Support website. It was version A04, and I flashed to version A05, without any problems. The next day I downloaded Dell system detect to check my complete system. Dell system detects is listed in my as installed Control Panel. The installing Dell system detects ran a few minutes (15 or 20), and then I got an error message that says: "the version of the BIOS is same or lower than the current Version of the BIOS. The installation will not continue.

Can someone tell me what this means and what I can do to fix the problem? Do a new installation of my Windows 7 help me?

    Thank you

    Merton82

This means that you are OK. The update of the BIOS worked. This should mean that the downloaded update is identical to what you have. I don't like this update program. It's confusing, and many have problems. You should ONLY do manual downloads and installation of just the BIOS or drivers you need. However, it is rarely necessary to download a BIOS updated or drivers. If you have problems with a piece of hardware, a new driver might help. Never a update BIOS unless find you other users or Dell it is absolutely necessary. Pilots don't usually cause problems if you download one that you don't need, but an update of the BIOS could brick the computer if something goes wrong, like a power glitch during installation.
