T500 warranty questions

I just bought my son, who is leaving for college in a week, a soft T500 (2055) the decision-making of Lenovo. It's a machine 'new' as defined by the decision, which means that it was never delivered to a customer.

(1) according to the status page of the guarantee, the guarantee comes into force on 25/03/2009, instead of 8/XX/2009. Is there something I need to do to get the reset date of warranty? I would not lose the guarantee of 5 months.

(2) can I put the guarantee for protection against accidental damage? It does not appear as an option on the web page upgrade guarantee.

Thank you!

(1) guarantee starts on the day it left the factory, what you see is the fact that the laptop has been delivered to the store in March. You can update the date of warranty by calling the customer service Lenovo and fax a copy of the invoice.

(2) you can upgrade protection against accidental damage within 30 days of original purchase, so get your warranty reset and then proceed to the upgrade of the guarantee. You must call lenovo for this.

  • Hard drive replacement and warranty question Portege and Tecra models

    Good afternoon

I'm hoping for a little clarity if a laptop warranty is invalidated if the hard drive is replaced for another title of model/difference. The company that I work buys models Tecra and Portege for these last years, if we decide to buy more large hard disks and get our IT Department install them will be that gap in the agreement of guarantee with Toshiba?

I talked to Toshiba and they were a little gray in their response. They said that, if you didn't damage the laptop, it should be fine, but if you send it as an unrelated question, with what they can carry out repairs on the laptop if the hard drive does not match the orgional one provided...

Can somone if this is the case? It seems ridiculous that you would not be able to replace the drive even if bought from an official and used dealer in a corporate environment.

    Kind regards

    Jonsey

As much as I know RAM and HDD upgrade do not negate the warranty. For many models of laptops, you can find instruction how to do this. It is described in the document of the user s manual or you can find short videos on Toshiba documents (knowledge base).

Even on this forum in the USER SELF REPLACEMENT section you will find instructions how to replace the hard drives.

What you can also do is to contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and check what they say on this subject.

  • The upgrade of RAM and warranty questions

    Hi all

So, I have a dv6-7031tx, which has 4 GB of Ram. Now I want to remove the 4 GB of Ram on my laptop and replace it with 2 sticks of Ram of 4 GB, will be canceled warranty if I do this? The RAM brand im going for is G.Skill, Patriot or Kingston.

Edited: I talked to HP support last week and apprently they recommend not third party as G.Skill RAM, they recommend only Mircon. I know not even how good are the Micron reputation and they are not well known.

    Thank you.

    Hello:

You will not void the warranty by installing the memory of any provider.

The only way you will cancel the guarantee is if damage you the memory slot, plastic cover, physically or does not follow the procedures in the service manual to install memory (like removing the battery and the power of a/c before working inside your laptop.

I used the Patriot, G.Skill, Kingston, Crucial, Mushkin in HP laptop computers and desktop PC with a lot of success.

I can also tell you that HP uses no chips Micron exclusively in their PC.

Question... Why do you want to delete a module of memory 4 GB perfect condition except if they put a PC3-1333 chip here and you want to install 2 PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) memory?

Another question?  If this is the case, why go to halfway?

I just max the thing out to its capacity of 16 GB and buy 2 x 8 GB PC3-1600 (PC3-12800), memory modules.

The page of the form is incorrect about the maximum of 8 GB.

Please consult the owner's manual at the link below, Chapter 1, page 4.

  • Warranty question - HARD drive removal

One of my friends has a Pavilion g6-2301sm laptop and the laptop suffered a fan failure. The warranty is still valid, but I thought it would be a good idea to remove the HARD drive to eliminate all risk of damage to it during transport and so the guy working at the service could not access it.

My question is, I could void the warranty if I removed the hard drive? The laptop is in perfect condition, never fell, not a single sticker removed.

Removal/replacement of the hard disk (normally is) considered tasks routine owner and guaranteed would be cancelled as such no. Many times HP will send even to the client a hard drive replace hard drive, instead of sending in the machine failure.

  • Standard and extended warranty question

In accordance with the previous answer of Garrett, I checked the details of the guarantee and the profile reads as follws.

"Intl Extension of warranty from 1 to 2 years for NB with 1y"

As for the registration and receive a free additional year... I have viewd the site guaranteed and it clearly states that it is true that for some models and it does not apply at all.
For a moment, I thought they were post ads "illegal."
In this case, the extension of stad only applied and no additional year at registration.
The total of two years is a result of the extension 1-2 years given to purchase... only entering into the agreement didn't seem the complete two-year period.
    One year appeared at registration.

    Thank you once again.

  • Extended warranty question

    Hello

If I had to purchase an additional 2 Year Extended Warranty on my Toshiba Satellite X 200 - 20 s PC, I'd always get free service collect and return, or that I would be responsible for the costs of delivery?

No, I think that if you extend your warranty you should always get your standard warranty conditions as in the standard warranty period.

Visit this link for more information on the extension of the guarantee:

  • Drive hard/warranty Questions

I got a 2000 HP Notebook PC for Christmas, so he was not yet a year. The other day he started making strange clicking noises and I googled the cause finding that most people thought it would be the fan or the hard drive. Shortly after, it froze and the screen went black says:
    Not found boot device
Please install an operating system on your hard drive.
    Hard drive - (3F0)
Then I did the memory test that happened. I went to Hard Drive check that came back as:
    INTELLIGENT control: Not installed
    Long DST: not installed
While this means? Is my hard drive broken? Is there anything else I can do?
And if my hard drive is broken is this covered by my warranty? I had the laptop for less than a year and the guarantee that comes with it says 1y1y0y, which means 1 year parts and 1 year labor no on-site service. Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hello

Looks like you may have a failing hard drive. Try to update your product Web site system BIOS then perform a hard reset and try to rerun the test pressing F2 to turn on/off.

    To perform a hard reset

Shut down the computer by going to the menu start and select shut down. (If you have no display, hold the button for 5 seconds); (if the computer don't market, go to the next step)
Unplug the adapter from the laptop.
Remove the battery from the bottom of the laptop. There will be a switch/battery eject button.
Wait at least 1 minute with all sources of power disconnected.
Reinsert the battery and reconnect the power adapter, and then try to turn on the laptop.

If the laptop is under warranty, you can order the new HDD replacement & recovery disks to reinstall the operating system to the factory settings, for free.

If you have completed the recovery of HP recovery disks manager in your system, you can go ordering him to come.

You must write the ID of the failure of 24 characters if test hard drive fails again & contact HP in your area.

I modded my R2 case that a ti be able to adapt an xbox an int low usb port dongle wireless receiver (which is what I imagine, that it was designed for). This void my warranty somehow?

    Hello

We would say that as long as the machine has not been damaged during the process, should not be cancelled. Also, remember that Alienware, replacement of components or open the machine on the machines is not void the warranty either.

  • Any question of warranty

    Good afternoon

I have a question about any warranty service. I bought my laptop on April 17, 2014. I registered it on the website and when I check Toshiba TEMPRO it says I have 1 year any warranty, but when I click on the button check Services available on Toshiba TEMPRO, which takes me to
    this Web site.

I can't find my model in this list. The model is PT243E Portege Z30-A-12 q. He also says in the terms and Conditions that the warranty covers computers portable bougt garage between October 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014. So my question is: is any available warranty or not? I have Toshiba TEMPRO, also data recovery Service and guarantee of reliability. I would like to know if those who are also available.

Can someone help me with some information about this please?

    Thank you much in advance.

    Best regards
    Andrei Colombi

    Hello

I think that all no matter what thing/guarantee of service is a bit confusing.

First of all there is a difference between the additional matter which service and any warranty.

The no matter what service available on this page http://www.toshiba.com.ro/services/no-matter-what/ must be bought if you want to use him any benefits.

The other any warranty that covers laptops purchased between October 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014 was a special promotion that isn't valid, if the recording is not possible.

The Tempro tool provides information about drivers for all Toshiba laptops, but the tool and new services is not a distinction between laptop models unique.

Therefore, you could get the notification on any service if he of not available for your laptop model.

  • Question about warranty after exchanges of RAM on Satellite module series

    Hello together,

I have a question about the warranty. My laptop is 5 months old and now I want to improve it with more RAM. I want to do it myself, and now I'm wondering if the warranty will be getting hurt.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Concerning

    TiG3r

For new models of laptops the RAM upgrade described in s operating manuals. It is public act and it shows the owner of the notebook how do RAM upgrade only.

If Toshiba offers something like this he won't have the negative influence of valid warranty.
Buy a compatible module and RAM upgrade.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Question about faulty adapter and warranty

    Dear community,

I would like to ask for your help, because I am not fully aware of the security regulations.

My Toshiba laptop charger is seen error contact for a long time, but I need on a daily basis of the device, and at the gas station, I was told that I have to give my computer laptop too at least a week.
I don't have enough money for a new charger, but maybe I could fix it.

My question is that if I fix the charger, will I lose my warranty for the device in the laptop too, or just the charger?

I thank in advance for your answers is, it is really important for me.

    Hello

Laptops as well as the laptop parts are covered by the standard warranty.
AFAIK the laptop as well as parts must be repaired by the authorized Toshiba service provider to keep the warranty valid.

I m not very good if an adapter can be repaired. I think that this part would be simply replaced. So if you have a defective power adapter, I recommend you contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country to get a new part.

Also, you should be aware that the use of defective parts (power supply, for example) can damage additional parts like laptop's motherboard and this could lead to expensive repair procedures.

  • Satellite L850-Y3110 - Question about the international warranty

I bought a portable Satellite L850-Y3110 in India that has an international warranty.
There is a problem with it now, it's the cd drive is broken and I took it to an authorized to Newcastle service center.

Need the driver cd to replace, but now Im says that Toshiba usually give the cause of the part I did not but he to the United Kingdom, and the person told me to go back to the place where I bought and the fix here, I won't go there any time soon, so it's out of the option.

My question is what is the point of the international interest if it won't be such an inconvenience.

When I bought a laptop that I wanted one that would guarantee internationally because Im student out of the country for education, that's why I bought this one because it has international warranty and my laptop is still under warranty international.

    What should I do now?

    Hello

I m not very well on portable computers sold in India, but cell phones sold in Europe are covered with at least 1 year standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/services/standard-warranty/

This warranty does not cover repairs in other countries, but in case of hardware malfunction, you must visit the authorized service provider in the country where you made the purchase.

To get the international warranty coverage you must buy an extended international warranty: details here http://www.toshiba.eu/services/warranty-extension/

In the case where the international interest has been registered for your laptop, the ASP to the United Kingdom should be able to repair the laptop in international warranty conditions.
