T520 Keyboard Glitch

Starting from 24/06/2016, have been the scene very oddly the following keys. The following is listed as

key - result

a \;lkjfdsa

q poiurewq

z (Mute microphone and keyboard)

1 - 09

` -

- y{}
-close?

So, if I type 'a' I get '\;lkjfdsa' and a menu drop-down. etc. I'm noting that all affected keys are on the left side of the Board. All other keys seem to work correctly. The only way that I am able to type it is by the on-screen keyboard.

This problem started with no known cases of shock or exposure. I tried reinstalling the drivers, uninstalling windows updates and time windows recovery.

I guess that's a keyboard failure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The problem has been resolved and is now fully understood - moisture leads to condensation forming in the keyboard, resulting in a short circuit of the circuit of the keyboard. Drying out of the laptop and the keyboard solved the problem.

I traveled with my laptop in Florida. The relative humidity was 80% and the dew point temperature was about 75. Note that the conditioned air spaces are usually installed around 75. The laptop was probably equal to or lower than the temperature when I took it out to do a job. When you take the laptop outside in cold, moist air has entered the laptop and the keyboard as a result of condensation in the circuits.

I could solve this problem, when I am home in California where the dew point temperature is closer to 55F. I disassembled my laptop to maximize the high airflow. I put the laptop on a bridge that had some sun exposure but the laptop itself was always shaded. The air temperature was 90 + F with relative humidty 42%, the laptop has been oriented towards so that the breeze would blow through the laptop chassis. I also put on my old and new keyboards so they could dry out. After about 3 hours of drying, I reassembled the laptop. The laptop has worked flawlessly since.

I read in other forums that the trick to put the device in a bag of rice dry also the components.

The take-away: be careful with your laptop in hot and humid environments.

Hello, I found a bug in my app that appears intermittently, and I hope that someone here could recognize and know the cause.

I wrote an app of cordova webworks for use on blackberry devices, which for the most part just displays data that she pulls down from a server. On one screen, we also want to add notes to a record, and so there is a text box. Most of the time I compile the application, it is very good and you can change the text on the phone via the black keyboard that opens at the bottom of the screen.

But sometimes when typing on the keyboard it sparkles at random, as he goes somewhere in another bit of the screen and back. Letters I pressed on certainly haven't added to the text box, while others do it, you get to the ends of sentences. Sometimes the textbox gets erased completely.

I can confirm the keyboard works fine in other applications, there is no damage screen or FAT or whatever it is by physically preventing a key event being recognized.

Used phones are z3, blackberry Leap and z30, 10.3.1.1779 operating system

The html for the textbox control markup is:

There is no keyboard special plugins installed for the application, it uses just what I presume is the keyboard of the default operating system.

In the end, I used webworks to create a new project, copied in the folder www of the broken project and readded all the plugins. This solved the problem, so it is possible that a file has been corrupted somewhere in the folder of platforms. I also had a problem with the identity plugin afew of the time where I could not read the device pin code, reinstall the plugins solved this.

That seems to happen to my projects intermittently, once every two weeks or months when you use webworks front end. So I'll go back to the use of the command line.

  • W520 keyboard

Hello, I buy W520, by market research I founf this W520 is ideal for me. But in seeking, I have some confusion, I found (W520) this model have two different keyboard, one contains the Enter key rectangular staraight, and the other have the Enter key L-shape. I like the rectangular right key. Someone can tell me what is the keyboard with this model in fact and how can I make sure that I get a model with the right key.

    Thank you

Take a look at this thread:

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T520-keyboard-layout/TD-p/413817

It depends on what country buy you the computer. If you buy a Thinkpad to the United States it is the smallest size of line key, but in Norway where I live, we have the largest and touches two rows.

Maybe someone else in the same country where you plan to buy the computer can confirm which type of keyboard Thinkpad got in this country.

  • is it possible to order a t520 for a thinkpad t510 laptop keyboard

    Hi all

I wonder if this is possible because I think it must be something with the t510 design since my friend has a t420 and its keyboard is great. Unfortunately this t510 (and for the record, I had 3 replacement of keyboard) and each of the keyboard felt good at the beginning but after some use, themeslves felt stronger keys to break it. Either I'm crazy, but I think that my keyboard goes through phases... where previously in a first time the keys are extremely difficult to push and after awhile the keys get really easy to push and after while it slowly keys type on this keyboard starts to become harder to press down. It's really hard to believe, but it's true. Perhaps a defect in the t510 keyboard or I'm so no luck getting the same problem 3 times now with these replacement keyboards. Laughing out loud

    Thank you

    The keyboard on the T510, T520, X 220, T410, T420, T410s, T420s, T400s, W510, W520 are intercompatibles. So the answer to your question is Yes.

Just look for the part number of the keyboard under the keyboard.

What you describe is possible, as initially the mechanism in various plastic did not, once it is worn in the optimal point, the key will be easier to type on. But as you use it more, the essential mechanism will eventually wear out and create difficulties that you explain.

Like car engine, there is wear in the period for the parts of the engine once the engine of the car will feel smoother and eventually it will wear out.

P.S. But what you describe will be visible for people who constantly typing on their keyboards at a very fast pace.

  • just keyboard damaged or more? T520 beer at the keyboard

Hello! First excuse my bad English im from the Germany.
Two days ago I droped beer on the keyboard of my t520 (not much about 5 cl), the notebooke worked after it is normal. When I tried to boot up the laptop the next day nothing happened when I pressed the powerkey. I removed the keyboard and inside is all dry, so I guess that happened without water inside. A few hours later the laptop starts but I wasn't able to write my password it comes the sound you hear when you have an empty Word document and press the BACKSPACE key. I removed the keyboard again and tried to clean it with a wet towel and dry overnight. Now, it starts and stops over and over a few seconds. Without pressing the powerbutton. Can someone tell me if it's just the keyboard and if I change everything goes well or can it be some critical damage.
Thanks for your help and best regards

Hi, I just wanted you to know, that it was really just the keyboard ! A new is now installed and everything works perfectly. I'm very happy about it!

  • [T520] broken keyboard

    Hello

Today my keyboard started acting weird. My rush power button turns the screen 3 times and the right Alt is now "power button" (puts the computer to sleep in such a hurry, in turn it it held for more than 5 seconds, does not wake). This behavior is the same in Win7 (normal and safe mode), 12.04 Kubuntu and Ubuntu 10.04 live CD. AltGr is to function as button / stop before any OS is started. Other buttons seem to work well. What I had done before that happens is installed Kubuntu and keyboard wiped with wet paper (moist, not soggy). This keyboard is advertised as resistant to spills so some wet keys should not damage it. Another theory is that Kubuntu somehow messed something iside if this keyboard is programmable. This keyboard has already failed once a few moths ago when he began to place additional letters after a few keys but self repaired a few hours after.

In the Toolbox Lenovo think Vantage, there is the diagnostic tool to test the keyboard. It's the exit after pressing the power button / real stop:

    Alt Gr
    Left
    (Press and hold)
    Down
    Right
    Space
    /
    (Press and hold)
    (Press and hold)
    n
    b

Not exactly what you would expect.

    I got lost.

    Laptop is back.
Keyboard has been replaced. No further details on the way in which and why, just "broken."

  • Numbers of wired keyboard has stopped working

I have a keyboard attached to a wired Macbook Pro Apple. The keyboard worked fine for a year apart from the occasional glitch when it stops working, I add an extension of cable and it starts working again.  However, all of a sudden the numbers on the keyboard at the top of the keyboard have stopped working (but - and = work). the keyboard on the right continue stop work very well.  I think the function keys work always.  Someone at - it ideas?  It's driving me crazy! Tried to restart and don't Scream - no luck so far.

Hello Lloyd C from the United Kingdom.

If I understand you right, the numbers on the wired Apple keyboard that you have connected to your MacBook Pro stopped working. We know that it's never ideal to have a device that does not work as expected, we are happy to help you get the keyboard to work again.

The first thing I would recommend, first and foremost, is to update your Mac if there are updates available for the version of Mac OS X, you're running. Follow the steps in the article to support below if you are not familiar with how to update. For the purposes of troubleshooting, whenever you test your keyboard after you follow the steps that we provide, make sure that it is while the keyboard is connected directly to the USB port built-in on your MacBook and not connected to a USB hub. In addition, disconnect all other devices you have plugged into your Mac, besides than the charging cable under test.

Update the software on your Mac

If the problem persists after the update, the next step would be to reset the system management controller (SMC). The MSC is a part inside your MacBook, who helps run various physical parts of your computer, and resetting can sometimes help the problems associated with the keyboard and USB functions. The support article below contains the steps on how to reset the SMC.

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

Test the keyboard after that the MSC has been reset. If the problem persists, follow the steps in the "Steps to a USB keyboard" section in the following article:

If your USB keyboard or wireless does not work

Remember that it's always a possibility that the issue could be with the keyboard itself. If you continue to have problems with certain keys, try to connect the keyboard to a different Mac, if you manage to and see if you experience the same problems.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Take care!

  • Incorrect position in iPad keyboard

    Hi all

After the upgrade to 9.3.3 on my iPad 2 Air, I found that when I use the keyboard it is vertically in the center of the screen. It does this on all the applications that I used when the keyboard is required.

A reason for this? I can't find anything in the settings to explain it, so I guess it may be a glitch in iOS? If this isn't the case, I hope seriously that there is an explanation for it.

My keyboard of the iPhone works normally.

    Thank you

    Kurt

Press and hold the lower - key keyboard to the right of the keyboard, and after a second or two, you should get a popup - drag your finger to the top of the screen of the option Dock Popup and then release the screen. You can turn disconnection and split options keyboard via settings > general > keyboard > keyboard Split 'off '.

  • IdeaPad Y400 keyboard broken after installation of Ubuntu. Sent in, Lenovo has sent back still broken.

I have a Y400 Ideapad, purchased in December 2012, delivered with Windows 8. He has recently due to a malfunction after trying to install Ubuntu as a secondary OS. It was very difficult to get installed Ubuntu because UEFI and Secure Boot really tried to stop him, but I have finally installed it and the two operating systems, has been working for about 24 hours. Then, Ubuntu was able to start. On several occasions. Then I started Windows and it seemed that he was working again, except that from time to time when I tried typing, the keyboard type keys I had not touched and then stop responding for about 30 seconds. After that, it would still work for a little while.

I ran OneKey Recovery to try to solve this problem, wiping my hard drive and reinstall Windows 8 from scratch. Still doesn't solve it. He actually glitched once while I was still setting to the top of my Windows profile, before he had even started for the first time.

So I sent my laptop for Lenovo and, a week later, they sent back with a new keyboard (despite me telling them that it probably wasn't the problem). He worked for the next few days, but as of today, he started glitching again, much. I don't want to send my laptop for Lenovo again because I need for the class I'm taking. Also, when they sent it the first time, they have not even put it together right. The rear panel was not at bottom, and panel below which was actually folded so that one of its tabs fit on the side of my laptop instead of being inside.

I really need to solve this problem, but I'm doubting the capacity of Lenovo to do, and I don't want keep it will send if it simply means that I won't have a laptop for 1-2 weeks and then I'll get it broken back yet more. Also, I need even Ubuntu, even if they do not fix it then I have to reinstall Ubuntu and it will probably break again. Not to mention, they will probably wipe my data from it.

    Found a thread discussing this:

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/IdeaPad-Y400-keyboard-auto-typing-and-out-o...

Turns, the Y400s have a defect. If you select always "on USB" in the BIOS / menu UEFI, it messes up your keyboard. I have activated it when I was trying to get my computer to recognize a USB boot.

I'm surprised a Lenovo support is not already aware of it. I talked to Lenovo about a dozen employees, including a supervisor and a representative of the customer relationship and no one suggested she could relate to my BIOS settings.

  • 4239 T520, failing to power on.

    Hey,.

So, yesterday after that put my T520 sleep and leave for about 10 minutes, I came back and it would not resume, the sleep led was not on.

I have tried to fulfil all the power of the system by removing the battery and pressing the power button for a long time, then put back the AC or battery and try to power on but the same thing happens, the power button then the drive fingerprinter led flashes. The flashing does not stop, I left it overnight and in the morning and he was continued to Flash.

I opened and had a look on the keyboard and the motherboard, they look good but you never know.

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T420s-no-power-blinking-power-led-won-t-Boo...

I read the thread above, could it be linked?

The fingerprint reader would not affect the mobile turn?

I've had this laptop since January this year and had no problems so far.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

I think in the case of Pantagruel, it's Windows does not start.

In your case, it seems that you have a hardware problem that prevents the system from entering the STATION. Try to pull the battery CMOS (and the main battery and AC) and leaving disconnected during the night before reconnecting it and tries to start.

  • L520 or T520

I'm about to order a L520 or T520 tomorrow. I am interested in General and recommendations, comments you may have about my decision.

A particular issue: the keyboard on my old ThinkPad, including the T42 I tape currently, was awesome! On the T61 that just bitten the dust - the keyboard was not so great. And of course durabliity was not so big on the T61.

But no one knows if there is a way to order a keyboard that has the "feel" of the old IBM ThinkPad? If so, I'll be sure to get this upgrade!

    Thanks in advance...

Yes it does, the plug is the same.

  • Broken keyboard key is covered by the warranty?

    Hello

I bought Thinkpad T520 a month ago. Today, one of the areas that hold the key broken Z. The key is still usable but can be detached easily. I used the laptop on a desk only and I have not pressured the keys that could break them. It is a defect of the key and I wonder what are my options on the setting of this knowledge? It is covered by the warranty? Lenovo replace my keyboard? I can't afford to send him to the service for more than a few hours since this is my main computer and I need for all working days.

    Thanks in advance

There is no reason for its failure unless the hammer, a brick or a bottle of whisky was launched on it. So YES would be the answer.

Don't ask them if. Suffice it to say the broke / has failed and you need it fix/replace keyboard.
