T60p HDD SATA 1 or SATA2?

Hello world

I have 2 years T60p 8743CTO with 100 GB. After reading the comments here, I decided to upgrade my hard drive of 320 GB. But I don't know which one to choose between 1 SATA and SATA2. Could you please help me.

Thnaks in advance

Yogi

but quite simply, you won't get any benefit from the SATA II drive interface speed

You forgot NCQ. As a result, SATA-2 is more preferable.

  • [Y550] New HDD SATA III. Is it compatible?

    Hello.

I want to know if I can change my original WD hdd (I'm preety sure it's SATA I), again SATA III? I don't know if the motherboard will be compatible with SATA III. What do you think?

And by the way, what model of motherboard is in it? Unfortunately, my serial number fail to pass on the support site, so I can't check the configuration it (and my HARD drive is broken, so I can't use the software to check it out).

And the third question: will there be any signs of change if I Exchange my hdd SATA III. I don't know if it is important in Y550.

Thanks for all your responses in advance.

    See you soon,.

    Peter.

    Hello
    Welcome to the forums
In the y550 sata port is sata 2. If the disk sata hard 3 would also go to sata 2 speed. This is common for all models y550
If you know the configuration of your computer, you can view the psref removed systems and it corresponds with the model No.
    http://www.Lenovo.com/PSREF/psrefs_withdrawn.html
The sata 2 would be faster than the sata 1 and that means faster data transfers.

    raks12345,

By design, all the newest SATA standards are retro-compatible with older SATA standards and will return at low speed as they go to work. So no matter whether a controller SATA 1 with a SATA 3 drive or a SATA 3 controller with a SATA 1 drive, or any combination with SATA 2 so, they should all work together very well.

The only exception in my experience, it's that some old SATA drives require a 3.3 volt, while most of the readers work fine without it. It is a power supply problem not a problem of SATA version.

  • Re: Satellite A200-1ae - will it work with HDD SATA II?

    Hello

I am a satisfied user of the laptop for a few years, but the HARD drive is used, so I would like to replace it with a new one. I thought Samsung SpinPoint 320GB 2.5 "HM321HI SATA3.0GB and I was wandering will it work with my satellite.
Or that, HDD SATA2 interface will work (and I'm thinking about something new and low-cost eventually).

    Anyone tried this?

    Hello

Satellite A200 supports the SATA HDD controller.
SATA II is downwards compatible (would work with SATA I as well) you can also use the 2.5 SATA II HARD drive.

    Welcome them

  • Tecra A10 HDD SATA drivers (Windows XP)

I need to download drivers Windows XP SATA HDD for Toshiba Tecra A10.

I searched all websites of Toshiba in the world and the closest I can find is "Intel Storage Manager" stating "Intel Matrix Storage Management utility to manage your local storage space, including support RAID, including drivers, you will need to provide the installation manual to make the HARD disk available to the operating system OS installer" in the description

However, the Intel Storage Manager cannot be installed on a laptop with XP is already installed. There is no drivers for the SATA HARD drive included in the compressed package I downloaded (stormng - 20080903143138.zip).

The SATA HDD drivers are available for this model? These are needed when you press F6 during installation of Windows XP, so it can detect the hard drive.

    Thank you.

I think you should download the + 32 - bit floppy Configuration Utility for Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
You will find the unique SATA driver .inf and dll files.

    These files should help you!

Then someone knows that are Windows 7 disc sata (Storage Manager) HARD drivers
or if I can use the Vista ones

    Hello

Normally, you can get all the drivers on the Toshiba page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

I checked the page, and it seems that for Windows 7 not all drivers available. So, as you've already written that you can try the Vista driver because most of them are also work on Windows 7.
An alternative, you can consult the Intel page. Maybe you can find a newer driver that was official published for Windows 7.

If you n t know how to use this driver exactly, use the forum search. You will find hundreds of threads. ;)

  • Re: Question of HDD SATA of Satellite P750 - 02Q (type and number)

Hi, I think to upgrade the hard drive of my Satellite P750 - 02Q, but I know not what SATA type it is (SATA I or SATA II and SATA III), and how disc can support? I think to slot in a SSD drive in there, but if she can support the SATA 2 drives, I can use the 750 GB drive at 5400 RPM existing as the second storage device.

    Appreciate your thoughts/responses.

    Thanks in advance!

Remove the HARD drive and built-in HARD drive. On the disk label, you can find all the info. Buy the HARD drive, but with more capacity.
I more older P500 and cannot say with certainty whether your P750 can be improved with the second HARD drive. If so there must be coverage of HARD drive to the second HARD drive. Remove it and check if the HARD drive connector is available.

  • Satellite L350-H20 HDD / SATA-Controller Driver

    Hello

yesterday, I tried to reinstall Windows 7 x 64 (and/or Windows 8) on my laptop. When I got to the screen where you can select the partition / drive to install the OS on, I wanted to delete all them were leaving (C: and D :) and recreate them for a bigger partition C:.)

There was also a (System?-) partion with about 100 MB, do not remember the name yet, but I deleted it, too.
I guess it was my big mistake, because then the installation has failed, and when I tried to restart, the screen where you set the partion was empty.

No disk, none of the partitions is displayed.
In the BIOS disk HARD is always displayed.

So I think that, on this partition of 100 MB mysterious were drivers for the HARD disk or the SATA controller.
    I already searched the internet, Toshiba and HP Intel support center (because the SATA controller is done by intel) but I have not found the right drivers. I found a few tools like [this one | http://www.toshiba.de/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=DE&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 178 & selProduct = 790 & selSho rtMod = 773 & language = 17 & selOS = 29 & selType = all & yearupl = DST & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = all Machines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = 12 & electedLanguage s = 17 & type = all & page = 3 & ID = 68573 & DISO = 2 9 & driverLanguage = 42] , but it is an application that cannot be incorporated as driver installation (can?)

So my question is: where can I find the right drivers for my HARD drive respectively the SATA controller?

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

As far as I know that the Satellite L350 - 20 H belongs to the PSLD8E series.
All the drivers for this unit are on the page of the Toshiba UE driver
The same page that you posted your original message.

The Storage Manager seems to be the right package that contains the SATA driver.
But I put t think that your problem is related to the missing SATA driver.

The fact is that the HARD drive and partitions were visible before you delete the partition, and you have not added the SATA drivers.
So I guess that the HARD drive needs to be formatted before you start the installation of the OS

Guess what? Download and create a partition bootable stick usign the GParted Live free software
Then you could boot from the USB key, could start the GParted and could create new partitions. After this attempt to boot from the new drive Win 7

  • Qosmio F30-140 - Windows7 cannot find the HDD - SATA storage

    Hello

I've got Qosmio F30-140 and I tried to install Windows 7, but as usual windows 7 found no preparations.

So I hope to find a solution with someone.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

The Qosmio F30 supports the RAID controller.
You must therefore RAID driver and not the driver SATA.

You can consult the page of the European driver Toshiba. There is a RAID driver for the Vista operating system.
You can try to use it under Win 7.

If this does not work you can disable RAID in BIOS.
I think you might find these settings on the 3rd page of the BIOS.

  • HDD SATA-3-ThinkCentre-Edge-71-Small-Form-1578-E1G

    Hello

ThinkCentre-Edge-71-Small-Form-1578-E1G motherboard does support SATA-3 HARD drive?

It has 1 x S - ATA 3 Gb/s (SATA II), you can add a SATA III HD but will not use the full transfer speed (6 Gb/s).

The only way will be to add a SATA III PCI Express card.

  • Workstation HP xw6200 motherboard: connecting HDD SATA 2 hp 08B8h

    Hello

I want to connect a second hard drive to my XW6200.  On Tuesday, wb2001 kindly gave me the login procedure:

"The manual shows that you can have 2 Sata Serial ATA drives. See the manual.
Refer to article 69 pg 19 and 20 for the Sata data headers. Refer to pg 100
    for the hard drive Bay.
The PSU has 2 Sata power cables, so all you need is a Sata data cable.
    Just imitate existing lead. »

Unfortunately, when I tried to put it into practice, I discovered that Item # 19 of the SATA was used by my CD/DVD drive (it could be question No. 20, I'm not sure). I would like to know what are the options that I have now.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Hello

I see that your motherboard has a PCIe slot - x 8 on this subject. Is currently available? If so, you could purchase a controller card SATA PCIe - x 8 and that connect your extra hard drive.

If you don't have an available PCI slot I recommend connect the DVD player to the PCI SATA controller card (you need to buy) and plug your HARD drive into the motherboard SATA slot currently used by DVD.

Another alternative is to buy an external SATA USB2.0 Converter and use your HARD drive as an external drive instead.

    Thank you

  • T430 - Ultrabay caddy with factory-hdd, SATA 2 or 3?

    Hello

I bought an SSD for internal Bay and want to use the drive from the factory with the ultrabay caddy. There are several products that offers SATA II or SATA III. Is the capable standard drive using extra speed up to 6 Gbps?

    I thought about this one:

    http://www.Amazon.de/module-adapter-Caddy-Lenovo-T420i/DP/B00718M8PO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&QID=13620859...

My T430 is not mentioned in the description, but I read that 12.7 mm must adapt without any gap.

I have a 'generic' Ultrabay adapter in my T430s that I bought on Amazon or eBay (can't remember which.) It is 12.7 mm high and fits perfectly without space. The adapter works at speeds of SATA-III. I disassembled the Ultrabay adapter by curiosity. That's all right transmission wiring of the SATA interface, i.e. There is no active circuit to affect SATA speeds.

BTW, you can also get a plastic case inexpensive with USB interface for the DVD player that will allow you to use it when the HARD drive is in the Ultrabay slot. Search for Amazon/eBay sellers.
