Tecra M10 - 11U - DVD + cannot read & disk partitions

Hi all

I just got my new Tecra M10 - 11U and noticed 2 things troubling
(1) my DVD cannot read DVD + R - Vista recognized the DVD and its type, but cannot open it. Ideas?
(2) my drive letters are C and E, where is my D drive, is the hidden recovery drive?
Is it safe to change the E to D drive

Nirko

Hello

1. it is not easy to provide a response to this. The question is rather general and who knows what kind of things is on this DVD + R media.
2 D drive probably doesn t exist. You can check if the D drive letter is available for free. If so this means that this player is not available. You can check in computer management > disk management. Choose the second partition and click with the right mouse button > choose the option change the drive letter or path. You will see that D is available here.

Recovery disk doesn t exist and it is not hidden. Toshiba recovery image is saved in the folder called HDDRecovery on the second partition.
* You can change the drive letters, but before you do anything whatsoever, please create recovery DVD.*

    Deal all,

I'm a happy user of a Tecra M10 - 11U use it mainly for businesses since the beginning. 2009 A few weeks, my company has decided to control Windows 7 on selected computers, upgrading to Windows Xp and Vista to Windows 7 32 bit. Unfortunately, shortly after the upgrade, a message "consider replacing your battery" appeared and quickly reduced battery performance. Consider that it used to last about 2 to 2.5 hours with XP and now it only lasts for 25 minutes. I checked several forums and the issue seems to be known to Microsoft, accusing the sellers for not releasing appropriate drivers ACPI. In some cases, the problem solved after the release of an updated firmware.

Does anyone else has the same problem with their Toshiba laptop? And if any has an idea on how we could solve it? Also, a serious side effect of the problem is the complete battery destroy leading sooner or later the laptop to be transformed to dektop beeing constantly powered and pluged. So if anyone from Toshiba has the slightest idea on how we could prevent the Burnout full battery, please let us know!

    Manos

    Hello Manos

I have Tecra M10 but use Satellite A300 and Qosmio x 300. Two laptop computers were shipped with Vista, but a few months I use Win7 on two laptops. I must say that I have not noticed something similar to your problem described. Autonomy of the battery and the performance is equivalent to everything in fact as before.

Is that Tecra M10 is supported for Win7 and everything should work fine.
In my view there is not much you can do about it. Everything you can possibly try is do BIOS update and make your own and clean install of Win7 with all the available drivers, tools and utilities.

If the problem persists, I think that you contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Here you will not become a Toshiba statement about it so maybe is the track of service contact to learn more about this issue. They have access to the database of Toshiba or they can communicate with people of Toshiba and ask for good information.

According to this statement you must have installed Windows XP SP3 home edition.

Your ad is a bit confusing to me. You have a problem with the functionality of DVD - RAM or optical disc drive cannot read all drives (different CD, DVD, DVD - R formats. DVD + R and so on)?

I put t know what is the problem with the optical disc drive, but way generally, an installation of software packages has nothing to do with ODD when you use it as first boot device.

  • Satellite U300 - CD/DVD drive cannot read disks

My CD/DVD drive does not work.

It can be heard at work (or maybe working), but it cannot read the discs - music films or niether. The 'properties', says the disk is full, but can not read the contents. Neither is it give details of the content.

If I run iTunes or Real Player, suffice to say it is a blank disc in the drive and told me to get ready to burn to a disc. But in his own info says that the disc is full! Windows XP sees the drive in 'Properties' and said that it is complete, but does not display the contents of the disc. Devices, said the drive (type HL-DT-STDVDRAM GSA-U10N) "working properly".

I have turned off the HDD (software protection movement) protection because he stirs a warning whenever the unit darn picked. I tried to use the drive with it on and outside. My computer is 18 months old (I think), but this problem has existed for a year and gets more and more frustrating.

  • ESXi SCSI 5 to "cannot get disk partition information.

Off I must first say that I have tried to follow the guides as much as I could find to solve this problem, but nothing has worked.

We have a server with a single 130 GB drive that ESXi 4.0 resides on and another disk SCSI 5 to that we wanted to use as a VMFS partitioned drive, with a big VMDK, who accesses our Server VM file.

ESXi installation went well, however, when we arrived to add the second drive as another data store, we got an error message: "error during the configuration of the host: could not get disk partition information. From there on, we tried several solution, manually formatting the drive with the tools of command line vmkfs, Re-partitioning for ext2 with GParted Live, erasing information from partition with dd, deleting all partitions, all without success.

We are posting our problem here as a last resort, I can confirm that vSphere displays the total capacity of the car, but not the partition information. It seems also a gap between the capacity of disk fdisk reports and esxcfg-scsidevs - l capacity.

Here are a few out of order, it was after the partitions have been deleted on 5 TB disk (the one that ends with "67"):

I had heard he had some problems with the help of 2 TB disks in ESXi, however I was not sure if it was directly relevant to this problem. I am open to using Raw Device Mappings, I think I've seen a few guides on the methods not supported for adding THAT RDM on a local drive - all advice on this would be welcome.

Currently, we hold a store of data from 5 to and VMDK join one of our virtual machines. I guess my question is: How can I get the 5 TB drive work in ESXi?

Hello and welcome to the forums.

ESX (i) can be used to the maximum 2 TB - 512 bytes to the size of the LUN.  It is documented in KB 3371739.  You can just cut up this 5 TB drive into partitions smaller than 2 TB - 512 bytes each.

    Good luck!

    Hello Joe

I saw in some your previous assignments that you use external DVD drive too.

I use my Tecra with Replicator port and a multi LG external DL disk attached to the port replicator (due to the fast data transfer firewire connection). Everything works fine and I wonder how you can have all of these problems.

If your device is set up correctly, including all the original drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba download page should not have any problem. I hope that you have installed the unit without port replicator and you don t forget Mobile extension tool. As much as I know there is no driver for Replicator port and all the signals are loop just to the ports of the replicaror port.

  • Optical readers cannot read disks

RealPlayer uninstalled from the computer from HP Desktop running XP Home Ed SP3, now the DVD and CD - RW, both fail to play any type of media.  Tried MSFixit program, uninstalling and reinstalling readers, up-to-date drivers, starting in safe mode, uninstall and reinstall Media Player, restoration of the system (who kept failing) and finally total system disk recovery system.  Nothing has worked. Any idea?  System shows the discs as installed and working properly.  Readers appear in MY COMPUTER but keep asking for disc that will be inserted when opening.

    Hi RobertW1953,

    1. What is the exact error message that you receive?

    2. what happens when you insert a disc in the drive?

    3. What is the number of brand and CD\DVD drive model?

Check and make sure that the reader has an assigned drive letter using disk management.

    To open disk management

    (a) from the start menu, click Run.

    (b) in the Open box, type diskmgmt.msc, and then click OK.

  • Cannot read disks 3D on my Qosmio X 770

Initially, I had no problem with a laptop Qosmio X 770 3D DVD to play.
For some reason, now, 3D glasses do not work - that is, they are getting started, but they convert the 3D stereoscopic images.

I got glasses for more than 3 hours of charging, and when it is plugged into the laptop they show a constant amber light, which means that they are fully charged.

When you unplug them, the light turns off and nothing happens when you focus on the 3d video.
Nothing happens when leave you them plugged into the laptop via USB no more.

I thought I would try to watch the DVD without 3D and disabled the 3D option in the 3D Corel player; However the software just tells the viewer/screen is incapable of the 3D view and move to a 3D-capable display.

Corel player won't play the DVD in 2D. No one else does--not even own Toshiba player - won't play a 3D DVD. When I brought the laptop I was told that on this model only the Corel 3D player would work with videos in 3D.

I guess that the glasses are deceased, but is it possible that I could watch a DVD as a 2D to 3D?

    Thank you.

As far as I know (I may be wrong m) you can convert 2D to 3D, but you cannot convert 3D to 2D.

    Regarding the question:
It of difficult to tell if the problem is related to 3D glasses so it would be interesting to know if another 2nd pair of glasses would work properly.

    Hello

Check the automatic run settings in the control panel. Ensure that the measures to be taken when optical media are inserted represent the media format type that you create.  You can check the box at the top to use AutoPlay for all media types, then select the action for the particular media format.  Be sure to save the changes.

You can also consider using Imgburn to read and write to check some media to see if you actually have some hardware issues. ImgBurn will also appear to what types of media are acceptable for the optical drive.

It is also possible that the media you use is of a lower quality.  I prefer the Verbatim. It cost more but I've never had a problem with Verbatim.

If your PC is under warranty then contact HP support. HP support number is 800-474-6836 or 800-HPINVENT or online here.

  • Tecra M10 cannot install OS using disc SSD Kingston

    Hi all.

I am a computer tech and can usually find a way to fix something myself, (rock Google!).

But recently I had a Kingston SSDNOW 64 GB drive and decided to install in my Tecra M10 age of 12 months. 4 weeks ago I had a full head of hair, now I am completely bald.

The drive is recognized in the BIOS, but whenever I try to install Windows on it, I get nothing. I tried the recovery DVDs XP, recovery DVDs Vista The, the "free" upgrade Windows 7 recovery DVD, and a DVD Vista & Windows 7 retail. I can't drive to be recognized to install Windows.

I can copy the existing disk image, but it starts the splash screens and blue. Normally I think that driver RAID or hard disk controller, but Kingston assures me that there is no requirement on the one hand, (and a standard SATA drive does not require a, I tried).

I checked and installed the latest version of the BIOS for laptop. There is no update available for the SSD firmware. So I find myself with a laptop that always uses a slow, (relatively) hard drive and a very pretty silver rectangular Clipboard.

Can anyone think of anything whatsoever that I missed. Anyone working for Toshiba can tell me if there is a BIOS update for this problem (I search the forum and found many people who are struggling for SSDS working in Toshiba laptops)?

The sad thing is that the former other laptop I got for my son accepts the player and works fine!
I had many prefer to buy Toshiba, but I want SSD technology rather sooner than later, and if Toshiba does not go to support, I might have to change of Lenovo or Acer.

    Rob.

    > Normally I would RAID driver or controller hard drive, but Kingston assures me that there is no requirement on the one hand, (and a standard SATA drive does not require one, I tried).

I think you have misunderstood something the SSD drive does not need SATA drivers BUT the fact the OS (Win XP, Vista or Win 7)!

The SATA drivers are needed to recognize the HDD/SSD under Windows OS.
New generation of portable supports the new SATA controllers that require SATA drivers.

You will find on the European driver Toshiba Intel Storage Manager page

Intel Storage Manager contains the SATA drivers that are required to install the OS.
