T61p as WiFi access point

Hi all.

I have no clue if I could make such a reflection with my T61p. I went through web pages describing step by step how to do such a thing - without success.

Right now, I guess that there is a conflict with the dial-up connections - otherwise I don't see where is the problem.

Has anyone tried this successfully?

Hi all.

I'll test a solution based on a small piece of material (over a few software): Zyxel NWD2205.

From a theoretical point of view - it's all I need, just to share my Internet connection, my laptop - WiFi.

I'll leave a note on its operation... I will receive the package in the coming days.

Kind regards

I was very happy and I printed a page with my smartphone samsung s4 directly connected printer access point (no wifi direct wifi except standard).

Can someone help me, please? It could be a hardware problem?

    Thank you

P.S. to the webserver I checked 'connectivity point of access' (di accesso instradamento wireless in Italian Punto) is checked.

    Hello lucait

You are right that the Hp Officejet PRo 8100 is a single function printer which does not directly optional wireless. You can always do what you want to do, but you will need a router to connect the printer to a network, and from there you can use the network routers or set up the feature ePrint for your portable devices.

I hope this solves your post. Thanks again for the display on the HP Forums. It has been a pleasure. Have a great day!

  • Satellite P875 - 32L - is unable to reconnect to the last connected WIFI access point

I have a problem to reconnect to the last connected WLAN provider, with my Satellite P875 32 L.
WLAN is switched on and shows all the neighbors access points, but it fails to whoever I logged before the reboot, or before you go to the rescue of the list.

I'm going in service options for WLAN, sometiimes up to 5 times, then it undermines meet usually.
    It's well annoying.

I have had this with the other 30 satellite of P870 too, but something so this behavior have disappeared. So there must be a solution.

    Hello

You're talking about your private Wlan at home?
If you had the same problem using another laptop too, it could be possible that this isn't a problem with the network s laptop wireless card or Wlan configuration but with the WLan router.

You should definitely reset/reboot the rooter.
In addition, check the settings of the IP router and or mac address filtering.
Change also the type of encryption and Wlan channel.

You have to try different combination turn off just to test the WiFi encryption and check if the laptop would connect to the Wlan open correctly.
But the Wlan encryption must always be defined in order to avoid improper use of the Wlan access point.

  • can I use a laptop to set up a wifi access point?

When I first received a laptop of opportunity in last December, a colleague tech at my night school mentioned that I didn't have to buy a 803,11 access point device to plug my switch, but I rather use a WiFi card on my computer to create my own access point. I told him I have such a card and put a little out of my mind.

However, I have someone outside to spend the night at my place, and he needs to check his e-mail. Unfortunately, it seems that the RJ-45 socket on his laptop is broken, I have tried several cables and impossible to get a connection, including the cable to connect the computer I'm using now.

Is it possible that I can use ICS on XP Pro (preferred) or Vista 32 bit Home Premium (really want to use it, I have never set the boot loader after the upgrade to XP on a separate partition, especially because XP has worked so much better) to set up enough connectivity for him to connect to the mail server?

Should I Windows 7 or Vista to do this? I know how to do the reverse quite easily (share Wi-Fi on the Ethernet port), but I don't know how to set up the SSID and others. I would assume same WEP or WPA2 (Yes, I know how it is easy to crack, but it's better that transmitting passwords in clear text because it discourages occasional interception) would too, so it will accept a connection open, unencrypted. I'll just close access once it does.

How could I go to set it up? I'm not spending money on software that is not free for one night, one-shot deal. Kiss, I just need a connection of bare bones for him. If its Ethernet port was working, I would leave him to plug my switch, but since it's not I need to create a gateway using what material I have on hand, and the only device with any kind of ability 803.11 is my own laptop.

I know it's possible, I don't know if this is something only Linux, or a solution that requires 3rd party software.

Yes, you can use ICS.  See http://practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/

    I forgot to include this--> http://www.home-network-help.com/ad-hoc-wireless-network.html

You will need to configure security manually from the properties of maps dialog box wireless (on both computers) and IIRC, you can use WEP in ad-hoc XP networks.

    Go to the correct place
Right click on the wireless adapter icon and select Properties
    Click the wireless networks tab
Click Add to create a configuration
in the 'Association' tab, set the SSID, network authentication 'Open' and WEP data encryption.
It's been so long that I made that I remember exactly, but I think you can use only the 10 digit Hex key.

  • Subnet routed on the main gateway of the WiFi Access Point

    Hello people.

I have the wireless router WAG200G. It sports a RJ-11 input and a four port RJ-45, while it is compatible 802.11 g.

I need to use it as an Access Point, WiFi via DHCP clients accommodation in its own range (I fear not the 192.168.1.x default range). However, I need to give this subnet, access the internet via my main network which has another Beach, say 10.0.0.x, where the entry door is 10.0.0.2

I tried the subnet routing WiFi to my front door, but apparently I'm missing something I ever managed :-)

For those wishing to help could you please tell me through this page http://ui.linksys.com/files/WAG200G/1.00.09/Setup_routing.htm ?

FYI, I got the Linksys in my network off main application everywhere (Linksys & PCs) static IP, nat and affecting encapsulation Bridged Mode only. That's how it worked, but for security reasons, I need to isolate this subnet WiFi.

Any kind of help would be appreciated.

If you used the WAG as point of access only with standard Linksys firmware, then you cannot use the DHCP server. The WAG will always assign its own IP address as the gateway via the DHCP server. The only option would be to use the DHCP relay function or set another DHCP server.

As long as the WAG is connected through a LAN port to your existing network you connected side full LAN of the WAG in your network. You don't want to run any DHCP server on the WAG. Your main router provide DHCP service. If your wireless devices have trouble getting an IP address from your main router, which should be the first thing to solve...

It would be the only suggestion I can offer.

If the bluetooth driver was not installed, try the previous version...

This package contains the Broadcom Bluetooth driver and software for models supported that are running a supported operating system. Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 driver is required to enable the Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 devices and is compatible with Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 and earlier versions.

  • I can turn my wrt54gs2 in WIFI access point?

I had trouble with my wrt54gs2 and 4 360.  I tried a link that someone posted for me to a tutorial from cisco, it worked, but only for a 360.  I have a Netgear wndr3400, I HATE the wireless on this router.  His unreliable, but I like features, the network counter and the transfer of the comments, as well as his work with 4 360 out of the box.  It may be possible to turn off my wifi on the Netgear and plug the wrt54gs2 and its wireless?

    Thank you!

If you intend to establish a LAN connection to LAN making the secondary router Linksys router in this case connect the WRT54G2 Linksys router to a computer and follow these steps:

    # Open the configuration of the router (192.168.1.1) page...

    # Go to the tab Wireless and provide the SSID network name and make the channel wireless at 6, 9 and 11... then save settings...

    # Then click the wireless security sub-tab, and then select the security mode according to the needs...

    # Click on the tab Configuration and make the router IP address 192.168.1.X (set according to the main router) and disable the DHCP server... Then save settings...

After doing all these parameters one of the ports Ethernet (LAN) of the second router [WRT54G2] connect to one of the Ethernet ports of the main router [Netgear wndr3400] (LAN ports).

  • Programmatically, by selecting the WiFi Access Point to connect to.

I'm looking for an application that uses HTTP connections to retrieve information.  We want the opportunity to connect only via wifi and after reviewing learned developer tutorials we can do this by using the "= wifi interface" parameter.  The next part of the research is to find if there is a way for the application programmatically specify the WiFi AP to connect to, in addition to using wifi only.  This woud be similar to go to Options Wi - Fi and manually choose the particular profile of Wi - Fi to use and then launch the application.  If we want to be able to do in the application.  The scenario: we have 4 routers wireless and provide us the user the opportunity to choose a new one for this particular application.  Development is done on the 8820 and curve.

You can use the interface = wifi parameter to specify that the connection should be made on the Active Wi - Fi network, but it is not possible to programmatically select the Wi - Fi network, the BlackBerry smartphone (or your application) must connect.

  • WET11 V2 cannot be connected to the AP (access point) via WiFi

    I am facing following problem.

Someone at - he advice me please how to solve these problems.

    Purpose:

    1. I want to use internet on TV Sony Bravia. (Bravia has no WiFI. "I have only LAN).

    Environment:

    1 access point (Router) - WiFi > WET11 V2 - LAN > TV (Sony Bravia).

    2. IP address 192.168.1.5 = WET11 (automatically not static)

BOF WET11 V2 assigned IP address access point.
I checked the access point access point IP attributed to WET11.

3 TV IP address is automatically.

But the IP address is unaffected for television.

    4 WET11 firmware version = V2.05 (Sep 16, 2003)

    Problem:

    1. IP address cannot be assigned for television.

2 WET11 is not the answer for the command 'ping 192.168.1.5' WiFi access point.

    3. I did ping command when the LAN TV cable has been replaced by the wireless access point LAN cable.

It is not advisable to use a 802. 11B wireless bridge on a device such as your streaming media TV. Connection will be very slow and is probably the reason why you have a hard time to connect to your wireless router that's more compatible with it. I suggest using a Wireless N bridge or a multimedia wireless on your TV adapter so that you can fully appreciate the media streaming.

  • RV110W access point / bridge mode?

    Hi guys,.

    I have a few questions on RV110W.

I would like to install wifi on my local network access, I have gateway with wan, web filtering etc. etc.. I just want a good wifi access point.

So why I want to equip with a RV110W and not a normal access point? It's just my boss want mandatory limitation of the internet access of planning by hours, days ~ ~ and guest access. Another detail, my local network have not all dhcp.

So, in the first place. Can I plug my lan rj45 on switch of RV110W port for internet by my current gateway?

If I set the limitation of the internet, has done this job of feature on switch port wireless access?

If I put the dhcp on RV110W (for example 192.X.X.5 to 192.X.X.10) and I identify the ip address on my other gateway for internet access (filtering fortigate), can I put the dhcp on RV110W only on wifi or it will assign ip on other devices on my LAN?

    Thank you very much!

Hi Ash, you can connect the RV110W by a switch port to another router.

Dhcp RV110W is not customizable to the point where you can specific to your other router IP of the gateway.

If active RV110W dhcp would provide DHCP what accept DHCP.

You may want to look into WAP121 or WAP321.

  • Problem with SG-200 and access point on VLAN

I'm having some problems with the configuration of VLANS on the SG-200 and the WiFi access point. The access point (a TP-Link WA801N) is able to access the internet when it is plugged into a port that is on the default VLAN (1 PVID). If I plug it into one of the other VLAN then all clients connected to WiFi to lose access to the internet and can not access on the local VIRTUAL network devices. I've used this configuration with a Cisco WAP4410N of first generation.

I'm not sure if it's something wrong with the way I configured the switch or a problem with the access point.

    Iain,

You have virtual local networks put in place on your router? The subnets that you use on each vlan? The router will give DHCP for each vlan?

The SG200 isn't a fully managed layer 3 switch, it's just a "smart switch" so you can not actually be able to do simply only switch. A sg300 mode layer 3 would be able to do this because it is a fully managed switch.

If the router is configured with the VLAN, vlan 1 unidentified, the rest the tag, the router-> SG200 port is trunking and the others as access ports on their vlan respective. Once the router is configured, this video contributor forum albums and Cisco employee David Hornstein is very useful to correctly configure the switch.

    Best,

    David
