  • Satellite Pro L20 - overheating of the power cable

    Hello

For several months, I had problems with the keys suddenly works intermittently. Although brushing under the keys with a toothbrush relieved the problem for awhile it obviously was not the main cause. Each time, so not attributable to each of the keys of damaged to different keys.

When unplugging the power cable from the metal part is very hot, and I worked on the problem of keys occurs only when the computer is running on a/c AND the battery is fully charged. In other words, no problem on the battery or recharging. The adapter is also hot, but guess that's 'normal '.

The power cable has been tested directly from another outlet and not ongoing execution of the usual belkin surge protector, external sources seem so plotted on. I tried to find another cable/adapter to test but living very rural location of doubt this will be possible or practical.

The fan seems to work OK, the air coming out of the side is very hot. It does not appear to be clogged with dust. Also, the area of the laptop above the fan heats up.

Sometimes the computer crashes on black or blue screen (on iplayer lately, maybe other progs too) but the noise continues. I turned off by pressing the button for 5 seconds, but he still works for a while. I guess from overheating. But not some of it is always on a/c-do not charge, it may be on a/c-charge as well.

Sometimes the computer seems confused if he is re-load, on a/c or battery. At least the icon switches and requires a session to unplug the device before doing things.

Other times it is the machine of Angel since last two years! It's a Satellite Pro L20, the adapter's clover LiteOn 65W, 19V 3. 42 a. part PA3396E-1ACA (what I see is no longer available).

Searched through but not found any similar problem, but hope someone can advise me what to do next!
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Robin

It doesn't sound good. According to the specifications of the laptop, you have the right AC adapter. In my opinion you should contact the partner of service authorized in your country. Make a call and I hope they can help you how to handle this issue.

It is also possible that they can send you new power adapter. Make a call and explain the situation. If you have need for addresses and phone numbers you can find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP.

    Good luck!

  • Missing optical drives after removal and reinstallation of the only power cables.

I had a problem with my cd - rw (plextor px-5224ta) and dvd - rom not opening not readers.  I opened my case and only disconnected the power cables, leaving cables ribbons connected, so that I can drag players a bit and work with trays to correct.  Once this was accomplished, I reinstalled the screw on their trays and reconnected power cables.  I start and the discs are recognized only in the Setup, nothing in the Manager device or workstation tab 'manage '.  Once XP starts they disappear completely, no yellow exclamation point, no code error 39, etc just disappeared.  I searched through endless forums and this site and tried everything that has been mentioned previously (double check all physical connections, remove case filters in the registry, the thing FixIt from Microsoft).  When none of that worked, I figured that the discs themselves were dead, even if they would be open, close and turn.  I cannibalized another pc with a cd - rw to hitachi and who threw in there without change.  I booted from the cd - rw with no problems, but windows is not yet anything optical displays on my system.  The cd - rw and dvd - rom are configured as IDE primary master and slave, respectively, although I've tried in the secondary without success.  It seems to me that I have completely a software problem.  I think I'm pretty computer savvy but I am down to a reinstall of XP MCE and I wanted to check with the experts, if I had missed something before.  And if it doesn't I'll throw him off the roof :-)

    Thanks in advance,

Thank you for your message.  Your troubleshooting steps are healthy, the only thing that I would recommend before you resort to the "roof" or "Reinstall" would update the firmware or drivers.  You should be able to find this on the part of the manufacturer of your computer or the website of the manufacturer of the CD - RW.  Please let us know if it did or did not help to solve your problem.

  • European power cable Inspiron 1150

I bought a used Inspiron 1150 and I LOVE it. It works very well. The specifications are

    Celeron 2.6 Ghz

    512 MB OF RAM

    HARD DRIVE 40 GB

CD - RW / DVD ROM

I would like to bring to the Austria, Europe on vacation and there are kits of international power. I chatted with dell and the representative recommended a kit. Except - when I looked at the page I discovered that the power cable on the kit has TWO components. My Dell Inspiron power cord has THREE pins. The adapter's original dell and the pins are on a horizontal line, two of the closest together and the other more apart. Look directly, it lloks like this: 00 0

    My problem is:

Y at - it an international kit, which has a THREE pronged power cable that matches my inspiron 1150?

    Or

Y at - it a TWO parts Dell Inspiron dell brick of power that fits the international kit from dell?

  • MS A30 - battery charging when I plug in the power cable

    Hello

I'm having some problems with (I think) on my A30 power management utility. When I am running on battery power and I plug in the power cable, the battery continues to discharge even if the laptop 'knows' that it runs on the power grid (ie the utility says "current generator: alternating current.") "Online, discharges: 82%. Strangely, if I put the laptop in mode 'sleep', then resume, she goes back to normal (i.e. working on current alternative, the battery charges).

It is true, I think that this began after I installed "PC Pitstop optimize Scan" www.pcpitstop.com (please, not conferences - I used a couple of their public services before and they were very good, so I thought it would be too much), so I guess it's some sort of configuration problem, but I have no idea where to go from here. I went through all the options on the power management utility, but they all look sensitive. Any ideas (other than do not install software stupid, doubtful)?

    Kenny

    Hi Kenny,

I experienced this behavior on my A30 where the system says it works on current alternative, but still drains the battery and stops eventually.

In my case the problem has proved to be a loose DC Jack that sometimes cuts off contact with the socket on the back of the laptop. This momentary loss of power DC seems to provoke the power management utility switch to battery power, even though the DC power is restored. The only way out of this situation is to Hibernate / restarting the laptop.

I think that it is a problem with the power supply subsystem in the laptop that does not react properly when it encounters a momentary loss of DC. Then the Toshiba power management utility is no longer responds correctly and switches to the battery power.

My only solution to this was to anchor the DC cable to the back of my A30 so that there is now no chance of the plug DC moving in its socket. This has proved to be very effective for my A30 and I've had no recurrence of the problem.

  • Satellite A120: Microphone does not work when the power cable is unplugged

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120, which has just begun to play up...

I regularly record music of my DJ Mixer in microphone of my laptop entry, recording in Adobe Audition.

Because the power supply makes a buzzing sound, I can't register with the power cable plugged... If I always record with the unplugged power cable, running off battery.

I've never had any problems before, but what has caused the problem, I now, was earlier the battery ran out while recording, put the laptop into hibernation mode.

Since then, I can't register with the power cable disconnected. He recorded only with the cable - which is not a good cause snoring.

It is not a problem with hearing, because in Windows Vista its implemented the problem proved too. As soon as I unplug the power cable, microphone disappears from view.

I used to work in IT support, so I'm not a technophobe - but I can't for the life of me works why it would suddenly start to occur, power is not related to the entrance it is micro... !

One of you lovely people have ideas? I checked power options and the Device Manager to see if theres no hardware issues, but there isn't.

I also reinstalled my sound card drivers.

It's strange. I guess you tried a boot cold fresh. Hibernation can sometimes cause problems with the devices.

    Try to update the BIOS.

If all else fails, you may need to reinstall Windows. (Backup your data and run recovery by holding down the button reset during power on)

  • Inspiron 3650 SATA power cable

I want to add a new hard drive to my new Inspiron 3650. I have the sata cable, but looks like I need to buy a power cable. What I should buy and where can I get a? Thank you

I had the same problem trying to get the secondary sata power cable to the sata 2.5 drives. In the first command, they sent me the primary sata power cable that has only a single sata power connection and a connection from dvd player. P/N = KC81G. The sales rep insisted it was the right cable.

I called back and discuss it with another sales who has been able to help me. She said yes, there are 2 different reference numbers and the correct is P/N = GP2JM. Once I received it I installed it and it worked perfectly.

The part costs $4.99 with free shipping.

Oh, they have no photos to show what they look like.

  • T61 - power cable melt and smoke

You guys have any power problem. My wife just called me and she smelled something burning. And power cable is melting and smoking.

And I called Lenovo tech and he told me that my machine is only 13 months old and he can't do anything at all.

He just replace the power supply. I used to have dell and IBM X 41 and have never wire burning problem.

Is this normal? If my wife found out about it later and bury the carpet still it will say this machine is out of warranty, and Lenovo has 0% liability.

I told him, I take photo and publish on the internet and he said "I don't like".

Wow what a beautiful man. It should say "Sorry" first while your machine is out of warranty...

In any case, I'm never going to buy Lenovo again.
