Table of contents issue

Hello all - I'm new to the forums and relatively new to the framework, but I was an author of technology for 10 years.

I added a chapter of a book, and it will not be displayed in my table of contents.  I have not configured the original TOC, so I don't know why he sees the other chapters (I'm still learning).

I played with a few things, but can't make it work.  I don't want to put in place of the paradigms that could limit the creativity of your answers, so I'll wait before I explain what I tried.

Any suggestions?

I imported the former chapter the new formats.  I'm assuming that this will ensure that the paragraph format names are the same.  What is a good hypothesis?

Fix.

... There is no option in virtue to change it to set up the Table of contents.

Ah. This suggests that the TOC file is not a 'real' TOC file (generated).

It can be implemented by generating a table of contents, and then by copying and pasting in an ordinary chapter file. Or, it may have been created by artisan xrefs. Or it may have been a file generated at the same time, but lost this status due to a moving/renaming operation inelegant. These scenarios suggest that the author didn't know how to build and maintain an automagic OCD, or they had some unique formatting or content problem that prevented the use of a table of contents generated.

You may need to perform a backup of this file, delete it from the book, make a Add > Table of contents to generate a new and import failure TOC file formats.

But not yet. Wait for a few other remote other contributors here crystal ball readings.

And is there something weird about this OCD, as text drags inputs that can be lost if generated automatically?

  • Table of contents issue in Captivate 8!

    Hello

    I use 8 Captivate and noticed that the width of the table of contents and the size of the font of titles are always the same in the primary, tablets, and mobile views.

    It is therefore impossible to use a size of width and the police appropriate to the main display because it will not exceed the edges of the mobile view, and if I do to adapt to this latter view, it becames too small for the primary display.

    How can I have a different TOC width and font size of table of contents for each display mode?

    If you use query selectors media in the CSS after you publish the project, you can have control more the sizes of fonts in any size of device. How do you use the questions from the media that you tell, stir with eyes wonder? Glad you asked, lets give it a whirl!

    First, we're going to get an overview of the project in a browser and to inspect the items in the table of contents to get their name of CSS class. We also take note of the name of the CSS file that has the rules of the element.

    So, we see that the font for each of these three sizes are controlled by the following CSS classes:

    .tocTitleText - "table of contents".

    .tocSlideTitleHeading - 'page title '.

    .tocText - "Slide".

    And the CSS for these classes is located in CPLibraryAll.css (which is put in the assets/css folder of the published project).

    For once we finish tinkering with our project and we are ready to add the media question our training cake icing, publish the project and navigate to the assets/css folder, and open the CPLibraryAll.css file in your favorite text editor. Most of the CSS been compressed up there at the top, but fear not, we'll just do scroll to the bottom of the file and create new things. Here's some info on the media if there will are curious. It's just the first link at random on the topic that I thought was useful, there are many others if you google it. Now to return to the program!

    At the bottom of the CSS file add these three requests, I'll paste it here so you can simply take their easy:

    @media only screen and (max-device-width: 1024px) {}

    {.tocTitleText}

    do-size: 18px;

    }

    {.tocSlideTitleHeading}

    font size: 15px;

    }

    {.tocText}

    font size: 21px;

    }

    }

    @media only screen and (max-device-width: 768px) {}

    {.tocTitleText}

    font size: 15px;

    }

    {.tocSlideTitleHeading}

    do-size: 12px;

    }

    {.tocText}

    do-size: 18px;

    }

    }

    @media only screen and (max-device-width: 360px) {}

    {.tocTitleText}

    font size: 13px;

    }

    {.tocSlideTitleHeading}

    do-size: 10px;

    }

    {.tocText}

    do-size: 16px;

    }

    }

    Now, you will probably change these values to the size of the font to something more close to what you were going, but stick to the same concept: small fonts for the smaller device, large fonts for larger sizes of device. My values here are quite subtle, so don't be afraid to experiment, and I used the pixel (px) instead of sizes in points (pt) so you can change that as well. Nevertheless, do not hesitate to go back into this file and adjust the sizes more to your taste if watch you it and it is not quite to the height.

    So it's probably a little obvious by the text in the Scriptures we've created rules for these three classes that apply only in certain situations, it is better media queries. In this case, we have a set of queries, one for each when the device or look a size struck the unit standard sweet spots: 360, 768 and 1024 pixels width respectively. Allows to extract a screengrab of it in action:

    Here we see for a width of 344 device, max-device-width: query 360px a kicking and substituted the class selectors. In the example, I highlighted the tocSlideTitleHeading to show the link between what it looks like and how the media query has adjusted the font size.

    My experience with the PAC was that if perform you this type of change (introduce the code or settings directly in CAP files) its best to do once you are all written when publishing done with the project. I can't say for sure, but I guess that if you make changes to the CSS file then go back and edit the project in Cape Town and re - publish your tricks of the media query will get wiped out and you will need to put back in. Just something to keep in mind.

    So there go! Questions from the media, FTW!

  • shadow and table of content issues

    Hello! I have some problems with Adobe Indesign

    First:, I'm doing this effect with a text block:

    Good.jpg

    and all I can get is:Bad.jpg

    How can I do?

    In addition, I have a problem with a table of contents:

    toc.jpg

    they are not in the right order and I don't know why because the numbers are in the right order...

    Sorry for my bad English...

    Thank you very much

    Okay, I think I understand how this page is constructed. All securities seem to be inline frames, and ID seems to read the lower frame before the higher a bcause it is to the left.

    I have manged to fix this by removing the text for the title of the chapter of the inside of the frame anchored in a little test and paste in the text flow in front of the image, leaving the corner round and empty frame inline. Now, select inline frame flowing and change the anchored object > Options... from Inline or above line Custom and make sure that uncheck the prevent manual positioning. Set the X position relative to the anchor marker and uncheck the box to keep the object in the upper and lower limits of column and say OK, and then drag the frame to surround the text. Once you have properly positioned him to go back to options and tick the box to prevent any manual movement.

    Frankly, however, I think that there are probably better ways to set up the page. With just like in the subject online adds an incredible amount of complexity available and no doubt a lot of work to set the text. Maybe you can use things like points out custom or nets of paragraph rather than the boxes from the different headings. These things can be defined as part of a paragraph style and will make everything much simpler.

    I thought dividing large text image that contains all executives rooted in several shorter frames that extend to the entire width of the page might also work, but it is not so long that OCD is looking for styles that are contained in the anchored frames. That is still the position of the image that contains the text that governs the order in the table of contents.

  • Table of contents for the issue of the ePub

    InDesign CS5; Mac OS 10.6.5

    When I export my TOC document to ePub, do not show the table of contents, only the last two pages with text and an image.

    The table of contents defined paragraph styles. I think I have my correct export settings.

    Help to isolate this problem is appreciated.

    Note: Display of other documents in the book via ePub export display correctly, although the book must refine to ePub format.

    Also, when I tried to export the entire book through the book panel, InDesign starts export, but no activity in the progress bar. I have to force quit to get out of the endless loop. Then when I restart InDesign, Untitled files begin to open, 10, 20 and so on. So, I have to manually close each file.

    I suspect that OCD is causing this issue.

    Yes, that's correct. Once I've re-recorded old files "CS" in the new version, including the file book. Everything worked well.

    And I don't mean just making a backup (thinking that will result in savings in the current version) I want to talk about a backup - as in another folder in a different location... ie you Office

  • Third issue of page table of contents

    Our table of contents entries look like this:

    Chapter 1 Introduction... 1 1

    HOWEVER, if the table of contents goes beyond the second page, they lose the points of the leader:

    Chapter 99 Florbling 99 Grömitz - 1

    (No, we don't really have 99 chapters!)

    In my ignorance, I don't know how to solve this problem. In their (probably smaller) ignorance, nor do my frame internal 'experts '. I wandered around menus and help without making any progress.

    I'm under 8.0p266, unstructured.

    Thanks in advance for any idea!

    How to debug this?

    Provide more details.

    What is available to columns (number, Gap, margins, is side heads active)?

    What is the specification of tab stop for the xyzzyTOC formats that do not reach right?

    I've seen problems when the tab stop is set to 'exactly' the width of the column. It is a particular problem that you declare directly a CW. It is calculated the size of the page margins to one side and the gap. Rounding and accuracy problems can cause the effective CW to be slightly smaller than you think it is.

    I usually put the stop to 0.01 inch lower in xyzzyTOC formats.

    You can try using a smaller tab stop and see if the points appear as if by magic.

  • CS5: Issue table of contents

    I'm trying to set up my table of contents in a document of a book. Here is a screenshot of OCD as it is right now.

    toc.jpg

    The table of contents seems well, I guess, but the elements are not in order. The three following headings (Introduction, introduction and Chapter 1 system) are not in the same order as on the page. I want the title of Chapter 1 to come before the Introduction of the system. It's on the front pages of chapter:

    chapter.jpg

    Chapter 1 is a specific paragraph style in a block of text by itself. The system of Introduction and all text following else share a block of text. The Introduction system is a specific paragraph style. Meanwhile, preview shares his style with that of a position (the blue elements on the image of the table of contents), because I want all of these appear in the same style and positioning on the table of specific contents.

    Here's what my TOC settings look like:

    toc setting.jpg

    I have the style of # chapter (the style applied to the chapter 1 of the screenshot above) as the first element in the table of contents. I want to share the positioning and the style of the chapter title, but I don't want a page number to this. All other models have a position of number of page attributed with a leader, and they must be placed at the correct level. I do not understand why the style of # chapter appeared in a strange place in the table of contents.

    Well, the table of contents harvest styles of character for inclusion in a really regular, top-down, from left to right order. It does not styles as it does, but for executives. If the blue guides show commences and ends of the frame of Chapter 1, and if the rest of the text is in a frame that takes up the entire page in the margins, and then of course the table of contents are finding the main-body text before frame it finds the framework of Chapter 1, becuse the block of the main body text is closest to the top left that part of Chapter 1.

  • Duplicate sections throughout the table of contents after generating the HTML5 multiscreen output

    Use: RoboHelp 10, version 10.0.0.287

    Steps to reproduce the problem:

    1. click on file > create > main layout (Multiscreen_HTML5)

    2 al ' Generate window click on [Save and Generate]

    3. wait

    4. click on [view results]

    5 results show swathes of the table of contents reproduced in other sections.  10 more times to repeat the generation before that the entire table of contents points are correct and I can publish.  This is not preventing me from doing the job, but it's certainly a time killer.

    Background: I inherited a working version.  I did not create it.  I have more knowledge of the HTML language, but I'm not a developer.  I didn't upgrade beyond RH10 option.  I have studied this many times, but have not been able to find a solution.  The only other thing I've seen sometimes are error messages related to the toctree.js file, but I still don't understand those.  Even when I have not, this past yet, but I have included this error just in case it may be related, although I suspect that it is a separate issue.  I don't currently have the line in the js file because this sample is old and I have not seen the question at least a month.

    Other Notes: I've seen a few posts on a similar question in the printed version, but, I do not have a printed version.  I don't know if that makes a difference, and do I know if anyone in the past that put in place or even where to go to watch.

  • Question of FrameMaker 10 Table of contents

    I did the updates of my manual, saved the book and now my TOC displays as red text with lines of text (as the changes).  The table of contents has duplicated with this red/lines of text 8 times (now the 34P) and the bottom of the page shows the table of normal contents. I can't understand how to solve this problem. If anyone can help?

    Well, not knowing whether or not it is enabled by design, we'll play it safe that we test this;

    • Save and close all files in the book window
    • In the book window > view > track text edits > Final glimpse
    • The book was updated

    If is enabled, we should be safe and assume it is activated on purpose, and you must review each chapter, accept or reject the changes. When assigning the Final Preview view, the changes are always followed, but they should is no longer showing.

    I'm about to step in the class, and maybe someone else can pick up this thread. If the issue is not the track text changes, the next thing I would like to Explorer are conditional text settings.

  • Page numbering and the Table of contents

    I have a book containing 23 document files. Document files contain the page numbers in the footer.

    One of the document file is a generated table of contents (TOC). Unfortunately, the generated page

    the number in the table of contents do not match the numbering of the pages in the files. Here are the details:

    • The title page, in a file by itself, is not numbered
    • The frontmatter, distributed in five cases use lowercase Roman (i - xvi)
    • The body of the text in the remaining 17 files is digital (1-243)
    • The generated TOC uses cardinal numbers of the book as a whole. For example,.
      Chapter I is numbered correctly in the footer from page 1. However, he is listed in the table of contents
      as starting on page 19, because this is the file real 19th in the book. I put the document numbering
      This file from 1 properties and properties of Page numbering for the book as a whole to
      be "continue."
    • The style of the table of contents entries is correct. In other words, the frontmatter uses a tiny Roman and the
      chapters use Numeric

    I tried to regenerate the table of contents, but this did not help.

    Does anyone have suggestions on what is the way prescribed to do?

    OK, I continued to read and this is what I found:

    Set the numbering style in the document, and not in the book that we told you. Format > Document > numbering. Choose Arabic or digital. Repeat for the various chapters.

    Save and close the chapters. In the book file, click with the right button on each chapter and choose Configure XXX. This is where tell you the book to continue the page numbering or restart at the 1.

    Once this is done, update your address. From there, if there are issues, we rely on the logic of the Fm we use every day, and each of us can help you solve.

  • Topics by opening the first occurrence in the table of contents

    Background: I created HTML5 Responsive help using HR 2015 for a web application. I organized the Hep role, then pages with these roles, users can access, and then by the tasks users can perform on this page. In many cases, a subject is listed under multiple roles and reuse and efficiency, I just dragged the same theme in the list of the topic in the table of contents as appropriate.

    I also used the text conditionalized on table of contents by role level. Using the example below, I have conditions for physician, nurse, and Patient, but I don't think that this is part of the issue well. Conditionalized roles were created for filtering purposes.

    Question: I have the overview topics that include hyperlinks to headings in red in the example below for each role. When a user clicks the hyperlink in this topic of presentation, he brings them to the FIRST occurrence of this topic in the table of contents, not the link that is associated with their role. When a user with the role of the Patient is in the topic view of their role and click the hyperlink 'Research for patients', help opens on this subject, but the "Searching for patients" in the topic role of physician in the table of contents on the left is highlighted.  Not a show-stopper, but it is confusing for users.

    Also, we had originally planned to use the filter feature to filter role help topics. When I filter to view only a specific role (nurse) and do the steps above, by clicking on the Preview 'Search for patients' hyperlink opens but there is no highlighting in the table of contents because this first occurrence is hidden in all the subjects physician.

    Note: This problem does not occur when I generate the content as WebHelp.

    What I want to do: When the nurse click on the hyperlink for 'Research for patients' of their overview topic, researching topic of patients is open and the search for patients is highlighted in the table of contents under the nurse, not the first occurrence (doctor).

    Questions: Is this a bug or is it repairable? And is it possible to fix it without creating the specific role of topics such as finding doctors for Patients, nursing research for Patients and so forth? I tried to delete the table of contents and start again, but the problem persists.

    Here is an example:

    Doctor

    Patient portal page

    Overview (contains links to sections below - view patient demograhic data, looking for patients, to renew orders)

    Display of the demographics of the patients

    Looking for patients

    Renewal of prescriptions

    Nurse

    Patient portal page

    Overview (contains links to sections below)

    Display of the demographics of the patients

    Looking for patients

    Display of orders

    Patient

    Patient portal page

    Overview (contains links to sections below)

    Update your demographic data

    Display of your prescrpitions

    My opinion would be that this is the expected behavior. My theory is that there is no information within the syntax of hyperlinks. A hypertext link is encoded such that when you click on it, you are taken to the landing page, as if sending the message "find the page named and post it by the specified parameters. What is happening is that the hyperlink goes to the first instance of the HTML page in your table of contents (.hhc file). There is no intelligence, he doesn't "know" that you are in the doctor or the nurse section - section he knows only that the page specified in the table of contents is listed in the file and thus, it only takes you there. The syntax of hyperlinks don't "know" where you are in the help system.

    I just also wanted to report the fault of strike in the Patient section, look a your orders of your example, assuming that you have copied and pasted into this thread.

  • FrameMaker 2015 is no longer generate tables of contents (TOC)

    All of a sudden, some people in our team cannot generate tables of contents in FrameMaker 2015, while others may still. We could all generate TOCs without problem until this week (at least, this week is when we noticed the problem). Are there known issues with the 3.1 update that was released in April (I think)?

    When we select Add > > create Standalone TOC, FrameMaker creates a TOC file and adds it to the book, but the file is completely empty. When we try to update the TOC file, nothing happens. When we try to create/update fakes with other books and models, same thing.

    Other people are able to create/update TOCs with these same files. We have not been able to determine what is the difference which is causing the problem.

    Those of us with the problem all seem to have 2015 FrameMaker version 13.0.3.495 installed. But at least a person who has the same version of hotfix can create/update TOCs. (We are all on Windows 7, 64-bit).

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

    Jason nichols

    Jason,

    We have introduced an OCD related bug in update Fm 13.0.3 where in unstructured books OCD is not generated in structured mode.

    As a solution, he is requested to work in unstructured for unstructured books Mode:

    1. edit > Preferences > Interface product > select FrameMaker > restart FM

    2. open the book > Update > should work

    We work for a quick update for the same thing.

  • Table of contents does not work correctly. Help!

    Hello!

    When my projects are published, in the table of contents it shows only the first 5 slides.

    Help?

    I use 10 RoboHelp for Word, generating WebHelp.

    I try to solve the problems about the table of contents, Index, and search appears not not or not being not completely functional IE11 or Chrome, not including many of our customers use. I found a couple of workarounds that my boss doesn't like.

    • In IE11, if the end user adds the web site to the compatibility view list, they all appear and function correctly, but my boss is adamant about not wanting the end user having to do anything to solve the problem.
    • In Chrome, I can get a table of contents and a non-functional search to appear if the user turns off JavaScript for the site, but this solution also violates the lists see also in help. Again, made my boss wants to not that the end user to have to do.

    His solution is just to generate using pure HTML, but then the search won't work in IE11 or Chrome (I'm not sure about Firefox). I are based largely on the research, when I'm working on the product, so I really don't want to lose the search function.

    Help, please.

    As I said in my reply to your message in the RoboHelp for Word forum, there is no patch for this.

    I can understand your not wanting to Manager end users will do anything and agree with him. However, the fixes for these issues in HTML HR are simply not available in RoboHelp for Word.

  • Table of contents does not scroll on Android Tablet

    Hello

    I'm creating a course with many water slides and he uses of Captivate TOC as menu.

    However, I found that I was not able to 'scrolling' to navigate through the table of contents in Android. It works on iPad but not on the Android tablet.

    This creates a big problem for us, like tablets Android from our learners customer company uses for training.

    Can someone help with this problem? The Tablet I use is Samsung tab S 10.5

    Thank you

    Dave

    This is the result today discuss this issue with Adobe support chat. This question has officially marked as a bug, but there is no required time fix this bug.

    So, if all those who want to build a course in Captivate for Android devices and want to use OCD as a menu of navigation (with the lit gesture), a big big no!

    Because, it does allow you to scroll through the menu, and Adobe will not fix this bug any time soon.

    And that's what really happened behind the scenes - even give me a notice that the status of the incident has been removed, or even tell me why this was the case withdrawn.

    :

    And this is the last email I received from Adobe until the case is withdrawn - and I mean why question scale within the product, team claim that Adobe will give me an update as soon as possible and then removed from the case--silently?

  • How to keep the format setting when generating a table of contents

    Hello

    I have a superscript® in a title in a document that should be put in the Table of contents. When I generate the table of contents, I can't keep the format in the table of contents.

    I could cheat and manually change the, but there must be a way that remains with these properties whenever I have to regenerate the table of contents.

    No idea how?

    Kind regards.

    What version of FM?

    What the police?

    There are two separate issues here:

    1. If you are super as a character Format in the files of body, the format must be in character for the OCD catalogue, or the formatting is not applied.
    2. If you do this and get it display correctly in the table of contents, which will break the hyperlink linking it.

    The solution is usually to do great as characters of Unicode natively by exposing and not the character Formats.

    See: TOC link with a character index does not in PDF format
