Take 100% of CPU Utilization in windows Xp sp3.

Hello

In the 'System' service task manager was taking 100 CPU usage, can someone help out of this...

Detail of PC,
Microsoft Windows XP sp3.
512 MB memory.
P4 CPU.

I'll make this process...
CHKDSK.
ALL THE ANALYSIS WITH MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIAL.

restore power as soon as possible...

My first suggestion would be trying to add more memory? Instead of the 512 MB, try stimulating your machine at a minimum of 2 GB just to start. BTW, what is your CPU?

I ran AVG, Malwarebytes, and Windows Defender, and no problems are obvious, but the CPU works almost constant, when the computer is in use. Sometimes, the fan runs so fast and made so much noise that I put the computer on 'stand by' and restart just to calm down the fan. Once when the machine was left running and monitoring, the computer off itself for high-speed fan. Thanks for any help

You need to determine which service is to take all your CPU and disable it. Try the following...

1. Download and run the "Process Explorer" from Microsoft. It's basically a task manager on steroids:
Process Explorer: <> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx >
2. When you run Process Explorer, you will see the "svchost" instance that uses all of your CPU. Place your cursor on the text "Svchost.exe". A pop-up window will appear that will give you a list of Services that are running under this instance of svchost. Sign for these services on a sheet of paper.
3. Start up of the window (start-> Run-> "services.msc") Services.
4. For each of these services you noted in step 2, find the service in the list, double-click it, and then click on "Stop" or "Pause." If your CPU goes down to normal, then you have found the service giving you the problem. If not, then restart or resume this service and move on to the next.
5. When you have found the responsible service, you need determine how to manage it. If it is a 3rd party application, then you may need to uninstall / reinstall this application.

I had a previous experience that 'Windows Management Instrumentation' will often peg my machine 100% of the CPU. Usually, it is only for 10-15 minutes or more and then it returns to normal.

• LabVIEW loop takes 100% of cpu

Hello

I was wondering the best way to send a command series when a key is pressed. At this moment I have a while loop that checks if the key each time. If is is, it sends the command series and adds the response to a text via a shift register box. If this isn't the case, the original text box info is passed to the shift register. However, this loop takes 100% cpu (ok, a single core at 100% so technically 50%), and I think that its because the text box becomes ignored each cycle. However, I'm not sure how else to do it. Is attached a screenshot, let me know if you want to the file.

Thank you

Eric

You have what is called a greedy loop. It runs just as fast as possible that finally consumes 100% of your CPU. Simply place a wait with a delay of 0 in the loop and this will allow the Planner to do other things and prevent the CPU to be hungry.

• Adobe Coldfusion8, JRun4, m32.exe and m64.exe take 100% of CPU

Hello

on both servers CF8 which we are conducting for several years, I could see that recently we have two processes inside the cfusion82\cfusion.ear\cfusion.war\CFIDE\m32\m32.exe folder Jrun4 and cfusion82\cfusion.ear\cfusion.war\CFIDE\m64\m64.exe take 100% of the CPU. Action appears at random and occurs on two server without any user interaction. Kill these processes does not appear to have any effect on the functionalty of the system.

Also in the reactor for coldfusion I'm not able to see any request related to this behavior.

Does anyone know what are these processes?

Strange thing is that the files have been created recently and on each system/instances on different days.

• Console to take 100% of CPU on CPU0

SC is running up to 100% then it drops to 50% and the rest b/w 65-75% on my ESX 3.5 update 3 and day 5 boxes. I have checked all the newspapers, but found no errors. Talked to Vmware, but they have no idea either as to why. Any ideas/suggestions? Thank you.

When all else fails, restart. Can you put the esxhost into maintenance mode to migrate your virtual machine, and then restart the host?

The console takes ALL the CPU, but it is very difficult to say what inside the console is causing the high CPU usage, so the next best thing is to restart the host... to see if the problem goes away.

It could be hung on a vmotion... so it could be the vkernel which is the CPU of doping.

• Explorer.exe takes 100% of CPU

Hello

I have Windows Vista 32 Bit laptop computers of company with the following features:
Core2Duo 2.0 Ghz
2 GB OF RAM
HARD drive of 160 GB (two equal respectively to 27, with 25 GB of free space on partitions C & D)
256 MB ATI graphics card
I have automatic updates of Windows, so my version is up-to-date. I use NOD 32 Antivirus (latest virus definitions)
Since the last two days I noticed that my CPU usage is costantly 100% (even when the system is idle) and explorer.exe takes up most of the CPU (95-98%). So my laptop started running hot with the processor fans works at high speed. I have not installed new software recently. Can someone help me with the problem and bring down my CPU usage. I tried to change the parameters of the START property search (someone posted this solution on another forum), but with no improvement.

Hello Design_engg,

Try to start your system in safe mode:

1. Restart your computer if it is running.
2. Press and hold the F8 key for 3 seconds after your computer powers initially on.
3. Once you see the menu Options advanced boot (or you hear a beep) you can stop.
4. Up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
5. Select Mode safe mode with networking and press ENTER.
6. You should see drivers loading, it may take a few moments.
7. You should then be at the Welcome screen.
8. Connect to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
9. Now, you download (free) MalwareBytes from here: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol install, Update then do a scan of your system in safe mode, to ensure that it is indeed clean! Once the scan done remove anything it finds. Simply restart your PC to see if your problem has been resolved!

Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

• Reset used, bad results. ALL copied from old profile to the new file, & FF file now takes 100% of CPU. I can take off safely profile folder?

Audio delayed or does not stop when you run a video. So I used RESET. Lost bookmarks & homepage & ADBLOCK and who knows what else. So I just copied ALL the files from the old profile on my desk in the new found under troubleshooting. Put everything back, but now FF use 100% CPU when running. I'm sure that I messed up by copying everything but little, I freaked out when I saw that I had lost so much. What can delete the current profile safely folder? (Yes, I feel like a fool and I regret just is go with my screws upward, but I really need help with this).

I didn't know how to find your answer to what earlier. In the meantime, I used back once again, & found printed the info that I need to copy ONLY the files that I need between previous & new. (Not done yet). But this time, my favorites return. (YAY! "I have a ton of bookmarks). The CPU usage is now reasonable.

Thank you all for your answers!

Hi done as recommended, it was "hpslpsvc" - count must be a service of HP, I am correct?

Yes, it's the "HP Network Device Support" service. If you use Google to hpslpsvc, you will find a large number of complaints and a few corrections proposed at HP.

See, for example, this long thread: http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1286890571088+28353475&threadId=1177917 buried in this thread are information that leads to this RESUME "critical update": http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-65961-4&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=2512010

There are also the following thread, which proposed adding hpslpsvc as an exception in Windows Firewall:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-networking-and-wireless/Printer-driver-problem-on-HP-Photosmart-C6280/m-p/839

From what I can tell, before the HP patch is available, two procedures most likely to solve the problem we have set the "Startup type" HP Network Device support on 'manual' and configure your HP device to use a static IP address. So... try the HP update. If that does not work, follow these steps (or add Firewall exception):

To make the startup type of the service manual

1. Start > run > services.msc > OK
2. find HP Network Device Support, and double-click
3. Set on "manual" Startup type (or you can try "disabled" and see if it causes other problems)
4. Stop the service runs
5. OK your way out

To use static IP addresses (which is a good idea in any case).

A. printer setup

Using the controls on the front panel of the printer or the printer's built-in web server, configure the printer to use a manual IP address located in the subnet used by your router, but outside the range of IP addresses used by the DHCP server on your router. Set the subnet, default gateway and DNS servers also. (If you don't know what this means, or how do, after return with the brand and model of your router and your printer model.) Repeat for each HP printer on a network, using a different IP address for each.

B. configure ports

1. Open Printers and faxes
2. Right-click on the icon for the printer HP connected to the network
3. Click on properties
4. Click Ports tab
5. Click "Configure Port"
6. In the "Type the name of printer or IP address" box, enter the IP address that you set for the printer part A.
7. OK your way out.
8. Repeat for all printers HP connected to the network.

Note that if your HP network device has been installed using the default 'HP standard TCP/IP"port you will notice on the Port configuration tab there is a box to check always 'print to this device, even if its IP address changes.' This box is not on the standard TCP/IP Windows port, and it's hpslpsvc who is responsible to control the IP address of the device to help Windows can find the device if IP address changes)

• Vista 64 SP2: when you run windows update, trustedinstaller takes 100% of one of the drivers for more than 20 minutes

I recently bought a new computer, when I run Windows Update there is a process called TrustedInstaller.exe, taking 100% of one of the cores for a very long time (> 20 minutes).

I have vista 64 SP2 and all updates installed (took me over 3 days to complete).

Also, when I try to install additional features of windows (for example. IIS) the same thing happens, trusteinstaller takes 100% of the base and install new features forever.

I have not installed additional software so far is very little probable that a virus or spyware is the cause. When I'm not updating the an or install features of windows, the computer running quickly and the cpu load is not high at all.

• Svchost.exe (netsvcs) 100% cpu - update of Windows *.256 cause - update forever checks as does Defender.

Hi, I got 100% usage cpu choking my system Toshiba laptop L300 Vista 32-bit, cause - (netsvcs) svhost.exe in time real trouble was unknown and tried everything has failed. So I did a complete new installation and fully updated to SP2 then the next update and it required me to download the latest update to terminant.256. My system is now unusable with constantly check and update svchost.exe using 100% cpu. All is well until I start to WU and I restore prior to this Windows Update Agent... Also if I close just the update it is still short in the background using 100% cpu by svchost.exe (ntsvcs) until I have manually stop the service.

I have:

Disabled Windows Firewall and Avast antivirus.

I tried all the things as well in safe mode.

Installed costs.

Followed the instructions found on the net

In offline mode, downloaded and installed the latest update which is the same as that.

Whenever I have restore before this update, it works very well. The download of the update even if I have restore and install only the off-line version, it cripples even with 100% cpu and without end of audit. He made also Defender without end of audit.

How to fix something that is a solid wall. You cannot uninstall or go around it. If I restore before it, that's all I can ever be updated Vista.

I admit, I'm going nuts with this thing. I can't be the only one, it is 100% Windows update agent question.

They have started to issue updates, default update clients cannot manage. Under Vista, install all the missing updates listed in the table above to this page:

http://Wu.krelay.de/en/

On Windows 7, install KB3172605.

If I look at the properties of the de...\System32\wuaueng.dll I have the most recent version for XP (7.6.7600.256).

I know that the support for XP will end this year, but I want to Microsoft Update to work down there.

Any help appreciated. Thank you

You are welcome.

How about that. Don't you love it when a plan comes together? Windows updates only or material for pilots also and then update windows is good, but for a more broad ability of other applications Microsoft, then Microsoft Update and Office update is good for a shopping for updates of every Microsoft product you have.

You suppose wrongly, and I thought I answered this before. Technically, you can re-enable the automatic updates but that will require you disabling updates every Monday just before black Tuesday and then manually download and install the cumulative security update newly released and restart before you activate the updates automatic (or notifications only) once more. It is more reliable just disable automatic updates and do not have the headache. Disable the horse of notification that is displayed in the status bar, and that you don't mind.

Please mark this thread as a response. Thank you.

To not argue the point, but XP users required the kind of brilliant 'support' who gave XP since the time of the IE7 to IE8 'false upgrade' users XP need like a hole in the head.

• Very high CPU utilization

Hi all

We have several standards work of the Disqualification created to standardize the data from the source systems. Among all, there are 2 positions causing the CPU usage greater than 97% throughout the work. For the jobs of rest with the same logic, but the source systems different data do not take this as the CPU usage.

Run these 2 high CPU utilization causing positions for 50 k records and also around 1 lakh separately but still the CPU usage remains the same. that is more than 97%. Are there other specific job setting or settings that causes this problem? For the rest, the jobs CPU usage is average only 55%. Performance wise, it is not accepted and PT test sign off is blocked because of this.

Appreciate your suggestions! @

Thank you

Amol 971-505343978

Hello

Why do you think the high utilization of the processor is a bad thing? On the contrary, Disqualification treat this work as soon as possible. While other jobs [that run at 55%] are i/o bound and probably run a lot faster if you were to set the I/O bottleneck.

Kind regards

Nick
