Task of coloring / questions preview overprinting

Hello all, I have this project t-shirts I work what was supposed to be transformed spot to be silkscreened on t-shirts.  I'm still fairly new to Illustrator and really know nothing about printing, so I need help. the image is CMYK, a lot of oranges/reds/Browns for an association local firemans.  I've already found how to change the colors > Recolor with preset > selected pantone coated colors solid and played with all the colors to get as close to the original as I could.  It started as 26 colors and I got up to 6 tones with success.  I am satisfied with the way it looks on the stage.  Now I come to a few questions... in the "Separations Preview" Panel, I have hidden from view of all CMYK channels and left visible 6 all pantone colors.  Image looks like much.  But when I check the box 'overview of overprinting', the image turns to crap... why? Now, I tried to research exactly what the "overprint Preview" means, and from my limited knowledge, I understand that it is in the sense of transparency that the layers of ink to print.  If someone has an easier explanation, feel free to explain.  So I guess my questions are, why is there such a big difference with the overprint preview? If I send the image to get prints, which will be printed, the bad or the good version overprint preview version? and finally, if I continue to edit the original and keep control of the overprint Preview until it looks good, what is the best way to do it without a blind guess and check? Thanks in advance, after I spent time playing with all colors until he waits just to the right, that my heart sank after that I clicked on the overprint preview...

I really like how the "overprint Preview" looks now so hopefully that's not spoil anything.

Overview of overprinting is just a display setting. It won't spoil anything, but in a screen printing environment, your misunderstanding of it certainly will.

Overview of overprinting is trying to simulate on-screen the printed results of overprinting fills and lines assuming that translucent CMYK process inks. It does not simulate the results of overprinting of the opaque , like those commonly used in four-color silkscreen inks.

Example: It is a common practice in screen printing for:

1. print a solid black ink,

2. "flash" (partially dry) it.

3-overprint a lighter solid color.

For example, imagine a picture of a dinosaur printed on a black T-shirt. The body of the dino is printed in dark green ink. The leathery texture to hide the Dino is rendered by printing an average green ink on top of the dark. A lighter yet (greenish yellow) ink is printed on top of that, for highlights.

That kind of accumulation is more akin to painting on a canvas with opaque paints (oil or acrylic) what whether associated to CMYK process in advertising offset press room. Overview of the feature has no Illustrator overprint simulate. In this image, preview overprinting of the Illustrator inks overlapping areas would be displayed as more and more darker, not lighter.

So you deceive yourself with results potentially job-demolition if you rely on overview of the overlay as an indication of what the printed results will look like in a screen printing environment. Then, turn the power off. Learn what overprint means in fact regarding the separation plates.

Above is of the major reasons why many stores print screen use Photoshop to build up their work. Multi-Sondage-channel Photoshop files can properly simulate real results of overprinting of opaque inks, because the interface allows you to set the opacity of the inksis expected.

At design time, do not think that "color". Think inks.

    I have a form that I can't see the 'look' of so I'm stuck with the way things are. This means that some fields of the form are created from a graphic image with a border of 1 point, while others are from the combination of a static graphic image with border by 1 point and a white (no background or outline) form field placed above them.

    Exactly the same color is used for each graphic frame with the 1 point rule. Only difference is that an image is static and the other is an editable text field. No effect, no overprint.

    The fields look substantially different in Acrobat.

    Any ideas?

    With PDF files interactive all the color gets converted to sRGB. Except if your document must also get exported for printing, assign sRGB as the InDesign doc RGB profile (Edit > assign profile...) and use a RGB color for the race.

    Also when you view the PDF in Reader or AcrobatPro, RGB color can be viewed in CMYK output according to your preferences. In the drive or AcrobatPro make sure your Page Preview of the overlay view is set to auto or never. Or AcrobatPro you canset the output preview > Simulation profile to sRGB. If you view the PDF file in a browser to date, you should always see sRGB and not a CMYK simulation.

  • Pixelated images and preview overprinting

    I have a few images already inserted in a document that are all in CMYK at 300 dpi. When I zoomed in on them, they appeared as they have done in photoshop, nice and clear.

    Last night, I started having trouble with the images appearing pixelated when I add them in. I couldn't find all the differences in my workflow by bringing in, which is the strange part. They are all the 300 dpi. When I placed a few images of last night, they appeared pixelated when I zoomed in. Also if I chose the Place and just clicked once, they seem huge, more than the size they should be, which makes me fear the document may not be good, but I can't find anywhere to set the dpi of the document. I put it for printing, size 6 x 9, but I do not see where you need to change the dpi for printing setting.

    I did a flattened psd of image that shows up in the window info of InDesign like 300 dpi/CMYK, but when I add it, he tried to make the huge image. So I used a different method and developed the scale of the image in the box that I wanted and it still seemed very pixelated when I zoomed in.

  • Develop module, 1:1 and export don't look the same, color questions

    I use the latest version of Lightroom (3.6 if I'm not mistaken) and I am facing a problem very uncomfortable with the develop module.

    I adjusted with precision each luminance of the color and saturation, so it looks pretty good in the preview to develop (made to fit) and did an export...

    The preview that I worked on and export just don't look the same.

    I work with files my DSLR digital D3100 from NIKON on an OSX Mac NAVE 10.7 MBP.

    This may be the external display profile is not properly adjusted because I looked at all the images on the same screen.

    I unchecked all boxes from the preset in the settings window tab.

    Please note that I have not activated an option for correction of lens and adjusted any color. This is the RAW file and its direct export.

    I hope this can be fixed or I'm doing something wrong.

    A few days before today I used Camera RAW of PS CS5 to correct my NAVE and maintaining only to exports to JPEG. I decided to use LR 3 on my entire workflow and I'm skeptical...

    EDIT 2: I found the image has made many more colors acurate (relative to export ones) in the library preview module (magnifying glass I guess)

    in general, but you must be aware that not all destinations can actually

    Hello

    When I use CW3DGraphLib_CWPlot3DSetFillColor on a lot that I created in the IUR, everything is OK apart that the value of blue is actually red and vice versa with the red color value.

    When I add a new path using CW3DGraphLib_CWPlots3DAdd and then change color with CW3DGraphLib_CWPlot3DSetFillColor the color displayed is not the same when I put the same color value to the plot that I created in the IUR.

    Worse still, it is not possible to set the color in white or black. RED, GREEN and BLUE have the same value, the result is always gray.

    What I did wrong?

    Hi Bertrand,.

    I found the other setting, you need to change to get the fill colors to look right.  When you create a new path, the new path takes the properties of the PlotTemplate object.  In this case, the default PlotTemplate object has the property ColorMapStyle the value "1 - cwShaded" by default.  If you change this "0 - cwNone ', the behavior will be the same as your other parcel of land.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

  • print in color questions after changing cartridges

    My Deskjet 1000 J110 printer do not print in color, after that I replaced the cartridges with original HP cartridges.

    It prints black, but no color. I tried 2 HP 61/color cartridges, so far, but without success in everything except black.  I also made several attempts to "ask a question", only to have the search engine telling me "no one else has asked your question. I also spent a lot of time reading threads in the hope to come across a solution, but without success.  Can you help me, please?  I use the printer on a HP Pavillion G6 series laptop that I just bought the last sale online from HP, less than 4 months... The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.

    In this page troubleshooting steps can help solve the problem.  The diagnosis in Solution 6 page shows the color?  If so, the question is probably in the driver or its settings.

    If the color does not print in the diagnosis page then the document here may help.

  • limits of selection visible only when displaying preview overprinting

    This only happens on some documents, not all and I can't find differences of parameters between a document and the other - sometimes, I can click on an item to select, and the boundaries of the selection are visible only if I saw overprinting checked in the separations Preview Panel.     What version of Illustrator and OS with are you experiencing?

    You should have seen > see the activated bounding box. Ifusing CC, click on the rocket goes GPU acceleration of the reduction that has been an issue with the preview of the related issues.

    In Photoshop, the color is different on my iPad with overview CC. When I export my photo in JPG format, the color is uniform on all devices. the color profile is defined in RGB respects more. So I don't know why it does this. Any thoughts?

    I am wanting to create a rounded rectangle with an outline or a boarder with a black color (or other colors). But I can't find where I'm able to add a stroke optional color before drawing, form or after the design of the shape.

    The only option that I am able to change the background color of the created shape, and I was wondering if you are able to add a preview when creating, or after you have created a rounded rectangles or other shapes...

    The online manual has some IPR-more info, but I am a user of rookie ID - CS4, so more guidance would be useful.

    1 - How do I know if a photo that I imported from iPhoto is equal to or greater than 300 DPI?

    2--What are the advantages/disadvantages of the marking of a photo with Vs placing CMYK profiles (unidentified) in a generic color space?

    First, when we talk about the resolution of the image, the accepted term today's PPI, Pixels per inch, instead of DPI (Dots Per Inch), which refers to the resolution of an output device, where each pixel of the image can be rendered using many points.

    With placed images, there are two issues of the resolution to review: native, or real, corresponds to number of pixels wide or high divided by the physical width or in which the image has been avoided and Effective resolution, i.e. the number of pixels in both direction divided by the dimensions in which the image is placed on the page. When you place an image at 100% of it is recorded in size, the two resolutions are the same, but if you resize the image in InDesign, the effective resolution varies inversely as the scale.

    Image editors like Photoshop report the resolution itself. If you change the size of the image without resampling you do not change the number of pixels, but you do not change the resolution. Think of this as a picture on a balloon. As you inflate or deflate the balloon, the number of pixels in the image is constant and they maintain their relative positions, but the physical size of each pixel grows and shrinks. InDesign is the ToolTip.

    When printing, the number that matters is the actual resolution, and there are two ways to see the effective resolution of a placed image. The first is to check the image data in the links Panel. In CS4, you can customize the Panel to hide or show data available on a link, as well in the Panel and in the details. The second is to select the image and open the information panel.

    Color profiles are related to the separation provided that they describe all the elements of primary color used to create the color of each pixel, but they are not synonymous, and we can't mark an image with any profile you choose - it should match the color palette of the image. Most of the images are initially captured in RGB, then begin with a RGB profile, which should describe the capture device.

    This point is convenient for editing purpose to CONVERT the image of a space independent, different, like Adobe RGB device for further editing. When you work in an independent space of the device on a calibrated monitor, an application that supports the profile such as Photoshop will read the color number in the file and convert on the fly to be displayed correctly on the screen. Such an image should look identical on any calibrated monitor, but the profile of work must be known so that Photoshop to do the translation, it is advisable to include the profile in the image. InDesign can also read these inline tags. If the profile of the image is not incorporated, the application or you have to guess (ASSIGN a profile), and if you guess correctly the color display properly.

    If you know the characteristics of the output device, you can CONVERT the image to the output profile. When you do this you are altering numbers in pixels - make permanent changes to the image - as well as the appearance on the output device will correspond to the original color, as much as possible (it is a simplified expalanation). Output profiles (and CMYK profiles are output profiles) are always dependent, that is, they describe how a particular press or printer reproduces colours with a particular set of inks on a special paper stock. As SWOP profiles are generalized to describe the common conditions that are generally present and achievable, but are not as accurate as a custom profile for a specific device. They qualify as "good enough" and are used as standards. Don't forget that there is a constant variability on any output device, even sheet to sheet on a press or in your printer when you run a single task, so the profiles describe an average.

    If you leave your images in the 'source' space, which is almost certainly a RGB profile, when you place them, InDesign will convert to CMYK for output in the output of your choice space, when you send the data to your ink or laser jet, or when you export a PDF file for commercial printing. Depending on your color settings and profile of offset policies, if the incoming image profiles are missing or do not match the workspace defined in the document, InDesign will ask you whether to do, or automatically interpret the numbers as if they are in fact actually in the current workspace (and you will see probably color changes) , or you can convert numbers to preserve the appearance in the current workspace, which is usually not a problem for pixel-based images, but can cause trouble for art vector with black text solid or lines that will be interpreted as being composed of four colors.

    If your head isn't already running, you are doing well. Color management is a complex technical subject, but I like to describe as the C3PO in the publishing industry - fluent more dialects and able to interpret between them that different devices can understand each other.

  • Newbie on preflight color question

    I work with a document that can be black or cyan. Cyan is a spot color ink, but my printer rep wants to use cyan in the document. I want to assure you that I am only using black or cyan in my document.     I don't think you can check only one color with InDesign preflight.

    But you can do it in other words:

    Define a spot color that looks at cyan and use this cyan instead.

    In the ink Manager, tell InDesign to alias this task of cyan color.

    Upstream check tones > 1 and plates Cyan/Magenta/yellow did not check.

    I would say that you have a serious print quality problem. This problem is caused by a faulty cartridge or print head has failed. I would like to start by trying the procedure described in the document below. If this does not work, try to do a hard reset. If it still does not work, try to do a partial reset. If the problem persists, replace the cartridge that is causing the problem. If it still does not after all this, the print head is probably bad, in which case you will need to replace the printer.

    2. pull on the power cord from the printer.
    3. pull out the power cord from the wall.
    4. wait for 30 seconds.
    5. plug in the printer and turn it on.

    To make a partial reset:

  • First 2015.3, showing only solid red color for previews random clip in sequence and monitor - media waiting for forever - program problem persists after complete format of the system

    Hey all,.

    I was directed here after posting on Reddit help, to make sure someone sees what I believe to be a bug particularly nasty in first 2015.3.  Basically, one of my two computers edition is totally incapable of managing projects in 2015.3.  I'll copy / paste from my previous post for ease, but I'll answer as many questions as I can:

    First refuses to properly view my media. Excerpts are appearing in the source monitor, sequence, the program monitor and my bins, as nothing more than solid, white red blends. This problem did not appear on my school laptop, also running 2015.3. On this point, I was able to edit the project successfully to the end with any of these issues.

    To resolve this problem, I tried hosting files on a local hard drive. I tried their hosting on our network drives (which is where they were welcomed when the laptop which still once, handled very well). I cleared my cache of media within the first. I cleared my cache manually in Windows. I have disabled hardware acceleration. I deleted from my hard drive and reinstalled Windows, and again, my main computer is borked on this project, while the laptop, running the same exact files to the exact location of same network with the same exact version of the first, is very well.  I even recovered files to my SD cards and moved in a drive completely different, to see if the problem persists, and he did.

    The problem seems to occur at various clips, randomly, at each reboot first.  But again, everything on my computer secondary edition, also running 2015.3, using the same files, hosted on the same network drive, works very well.  After Effects can handle the files.  Adobe Media Encoder transcode the files fine, although this isn't a regular part of my job.  The files of play very well under Windows.

    More interesting still, I returned to my most recent project in 2015.2 on my computer concerned and opened in 2015.3.  Many media files knew forever, redded out, pending question, even if the project is completed successfully on this computer without incident a week, running 2015.2.

    I guess for now, I have to go back to 2015.2 on all my workstations, but I wanted to have this problem, because I am confident enough at this stage, I'm dealing with a bug.
