  • Tecra 550CDT, Details of the BIOS

    Hello

I'm trying to figure out if my Tecra 550CDT will support the upgrade of my hard drive with 20 GB (from the current 4 GB).

However, the details about the BIOS of TOSHIBA are very rare on the support site - all I have to go on is my manual and Readme files that update the bios acommpany. It is not particularly useful.

I have of course updated to the latest version (8.0 years mid-2000), but I would like to know what it takes in charge before I buy.

Anyone know where I could find info on this BIOS or a way to say if it supports the upgrade?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

my friend has a Tecra 550CDT. He upgraded his up to 30 GB HARD drive.
But this update was made by a company in our city.
Works without problem. He told me they did only an update of the Bios.

  • Quick start function - how to access BIOS?

    Hello

Recently, I activated the Fast Boot option in the BIOS and now I can't access BIOS again.
I have try press F2 bit after power is on but does not work.

Do you have ideas of how enter to the BIOS?

    Hello

Quick start can be enabled or disabled in the system of windows running.
Toshiba preinstalled application called system settings allows allows you to load the default settings.

In the case where Windows 7 is pre-installed, check the tool called Toshiba HWsetup that should be included in all programs-> Toshiba

But you should also be able to access the BIOS, press the INSERT key and then the key F2
Also try the F12 key. Now in the boot menu should appear where you can choose the option Enter Setup.

This will allow you to access the BIOS

  • Tecra A10 - 12Z BIOS 1.6 wanted to move to 3, but 'not supported' - W7H32

There are many problems with this Tecra A10.

As Windows Xp is disabled, I tried Windows 7, which is too awkward, so I wanted to try the eSATA operating systems. Although I could install Lubuntu on eSATA it would not start (no hard drive inside most) to eSATA, but booted from USB.

Read in the forum and put the Windows 7 Home 32 disk inside again and downloaded the BIOS update only to get a response "not supported".

The A10 has a Windows Vista professional sticker slot, is the only OS where this Tecra can get BIOS updated?

We have no records of Windows Vista.

Installation of Windows 2000 or XP, it's really a lot of time, even for 9 x.

The last beta demoCD with eComStation, todays OS/2Warp, works fine on the Tecra, it has Windows integrated 3.11, is that not? Windows 3.11 on a SD card installation must be as fast and as possible. If there are drivers available?

ReactOS (freeWindowsXP) is usually able to boot, but it is still in the alpha stage!

As for flat BACK? There are the LiveCD with BACK.

You can also find Vista LiveCD socalled VistaPE CDs on the net, but their origin is unknown.

What is the best option? Is there only one option?

    Hello

    > Although I could install Lubuntu on eSATA it would not start (no hard drive inside most) to eSATA, but booted from USB
I guess that the BIOS does not support booting eSATA port but just the USB port.
But it's just an idea... that should be checked once more in the BIOS settings.
Maybe a BIOS update would also help.

    > Read in the forum and put the Windows 7 Home 32 disk inside again and downloaded the BIOS update only to get a response "not supported".

BIOS update may be run from under Windows system only. But the BIOS update also requires some software additional Toshiba which depends on the system.

In the case of Windows 7 or Vista, the value of added Toshiba package must be installed. In the case of Win XP, you must install the package of common Modules.

To be honest I don t understand what you want to do
Tecra A10 is a great unit. I have the successor called Tecra A11. I use Win 7 and its really awesome OS. Much better than the beginning of Win XP

  • Portege R700 - access BIOS

I met the flaw that arises on the addition of a password for admin for the BIOS on my R700. I added the password directly in the BIOS itself that I have re-installed windows on a SSD and as such do not have the installed toshiba bloatware.

now when I try to access the BIOS at startup by pressing the ESC key, I get a black screen and white message saying press F2 to enter setup. I press F2 and the system restarts and the windows load, or if I press the same new message Esc. it will make a loop like that forever without access BIOS. pressing F1 doesn't do nothing as does the Esc at the request of press F2.

so, essentially, I'm completely locked out of my own BIOS. I tried to put the old HDD back with toshiba inside Security Manager, but it does not find any BIOS password so I can't remove it using this

My next plan was to simply remove the computer and remove the CMOS battery and allow the BIOS reset to default values... However I know that this works on some computers not all, so my question is, is - it's worth it? or if not what can I do to get back into my BIOS?

    Thank you

    Hi 1994F7PT

Turn on your laptop and press INS key and the prompt for the supervisor password. Enter the password supervisor and when it s created then a menu appears with the following operation (F2 for BIOS, F12 for the boot menu, etc.).

  • Pavilion laptop 1b79dx g6: need to access BIOS

I need to access the BIOS to enable virtualization so that a program in Kaspersky Internet Security (security silver) runs correctly and safely.  This function worked fine until I upgraded to Windows 10.  Windows 10 CHANGE the setting on the BIOS.  Yes, I said because I believe.  Safe money worked great until I upgraded to Windows 10.

If I had access to the BIOS, I would ask this question?  I have already asked to Kaspersky and they tell me that they can't do anything to help me.  In other words, they are puzzled, too.  I searched high and low all over the internet for a solution and everything I got do not work.  Not even here OR Mocrosft.  so, here I am.

BTW, I'm aware of other people who, for various reasons, try to access the BIOS to correct the problems caused by the upgrade to Windows 10.

    Erik

Access BIOS you press the F10 key when you turn on the PC.

You can also stop the PC from windows startup by pressing the ESC key and then press F10 to go into the BIOS.

  • Can't access BIOS - Portege R500 PPR50E

Hi, it seems that I cannot access the BIOS on my Portege...

My BIOS password sometimes but I tell myself that I need to access BIOS immediately after that.

What is the correct combination please? It's ALT + F12? It does not work... :(

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think that the laptop uses the Toshiba BIOS and that is why you need to press F1, immediately after the laptop has been powered.

Check out what I think it will work.

  • 6 beeps startup then normal but cannot access bios

My computer is a desktop HP ENVY h8xt, Intel® Core™ i7-3770, 3.4 Ghz (Costco) which is the same as the HP 1420 t CTO with 64-bit Windows 8 H8

I added a FX - 785 A-ZDF4 Double D XFX Radeon HD 7850 1 GB 256 - bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x 16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX... When I start, I hear 6 beeps, and then the computer starts fine and the video card.  However, when I try to access the bios by pressing f10 at startup, the computer restarts.  I'm unable to access the bios to try one of the solutions I've seen on the forums.  How can I eliminate the beeps and access the bios?

I've also updated the PSU to an OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W ATX12V SLI certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC power supply which should have a lot of power (700w).

I managed to solve this problem, and obviously it's a thing of Windows 8.  Obviously when you add a market after video card in a "certified Windows 8" PC, you will need to disable "secure starting", according to this link.

In addition, in order to access the bios of Windows 8 you must get the bios from Windows 8 according to this link.

Among the many changes coming to Windows 8 new computers designed for this is a change in the way we access BIOS of our computers. >>

This allowed me to get into the bios and disable start-up secure and everything's fine.

I run into a problem with the Bios. A few days ago, I changed some settings in the Bios and now I can't access it. There is no support on don't enter to interrupt the boot, F1, or other buttons do not have Bios at startup. What can I do to enter the parameters of the Bios again?

  • Aspire V5-571 cant access Bios, or start in win 8

Hello, I had the laptop mentioned above model by a friend to do a fresh install of win 8 on it.

I followed the steps in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGiG1oljjZI but when I click on restart now (sec ~ 30 in the video) I have not received the option screen seen in the video. Instead, I was greeted by a black screen with the cursor keys pout. Since I can't boot into win8 nor do I have access to the BIOS so I can put the dvd as my main boot device in order to try a new installation of the operating system. I tried to purée the F2 key, while the laptop starts / holding SHIFT/F10/Alt + F10 and all kinds of other combinations that just came out looking for answers to this question both on this forum and google. I also tried these steps with a usb keyboard plugged just in case... Well I don't know. Each time the same thing is happening: I get a black screen on which I can move the cursor, and that's it.

Any suggestions on how I can access BIOS would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Ty silizium, I was going to do as a last resort because it's a pain to access the HARD disk for this particular model because you must remove laptop full, but in the end, I had to do.
In any case, I will be putting together a small presentation of how I fixed this in case someone else has this problem.

    1. I disassembled the laptop to access the HARD disk and removed.
    2. when the HARD drive was out, I was able to access the UEFI by pressing F2.
3 took all my PC HARD drive and plugged from the portable computer in order to install a new copy of win8. I did this to ensure that victory would be start of this HARD drive (not sure, but it has something to do with the file boot.ini or something like that, I don't remember exactly like his for a long time I had problems with this thing).
4 installed win8, everything looking good on my PC. Removed the PC HARD drive, connected to the laptop and after post, I received a message "operating system not found '. At this point, I couldn't access UEFI however was not able to start from the DVD or USB or initiate win8 no matter what I chose in the boot priority. The two DVD and USB would work as a boot on my PC media.
5 history of UEFI BIOS Legacy, rebooted the laptop and did not "Operating system not found" and was able to boot in win8 could also boot from DVD/USB as normally expected.
So in conclusion UEFI = bad, BIOS = good, or miss me something quite obvious.

A little pain to be honest but hey, I'm the thing works again.

  • Cannot access BIOS after closing down and also can not use change PC settings either.

    Hello

I am wanting to access BIOS so I can restart the computer with windows 7, since I had nothing else problems with windows 8.1. It messed up my registry and now I can't use one of the windows in all applications, just the office part. (Computer worked fine with windows 8 before that I "upgraded", if you can call it.) So either no access to change PC settings and the BIOS keys do not work when you press during loading. Help, please

    Hello

    Try the following.

Shut down the laptop by holding down the key SHIFT left click Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot.

Now on TAP the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to see if it will launch the Start Menu.  If this is the case, select f10 to open the bios menu.

    Kind regards

  • Cannot access BIOS when OS disk encrypted w / Bitlocker, starting on the USB key is not unlock disc

    Hello

I enabled Bitlocker on my Acer Aspire 5315. The system partition is encrypted and the data partition. My motherboard doesn't have a TPM chip, so I opted for the unlock with a USB key.

When I start the PC or wake them from their hibernation, the splashboot (with the logo of Acer) BIOS screen does not display the information below on how to access the BIOS (press F2) or the boot menu (F12). And therefore I can't access those as I used to.

BitLocker does not account for the USB key, then asks for the password to unlock the HARD drive. Then Windows starts very well.

However, restart (by a Windows or after you have entered the wrong password Bitlocker too many times), the BIOS splash screen is normal (with how access BIOS and boot menu), I can access BIOS by pressing F2 AND succesfully Bitlocker unlocks the HARD drive with the USB flash drive without having to ask for the password.

So, my question is how Bitlocker unlock the HARD disk automatically via the USB when the PC starts?

    Thank you for reading.

Note: I posted this question on http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprosecurity/threads they suggested that I ask the Acer support.

Thank you also get answers in the TechNet forums.  I'm sorry that you were unable to get a more complete answer it.

We suggest that you uninstall BitLocker and decrypt the drive to determine if this restores your ability to access the BIOS.
