  I would recommend you do this using the Toshiba recovery disc. This procedure should always be made in the event of system problems.

• GPU overheating causing system crash

  My T61 was resurrected after a spill major drink completely killed a few months ago.  The shop dismantled it, cleaned it up carefully, it, and now it works fine, except for one problem.

  When I do something that involves video (YouTube or playing a DVD movie), the system is likely to stop completely.  I'll hear a soft click, the screen goes black, all LED indicators go black - completely dead.  By pressing the power button does nothing.  To restart the machine, I have to remove the battery and unplug the AC power.  Then when I plug the battery back in, LEDs, and power by pressing the button starts the machine up.  As long as I'm not all the videos, everything is back to normal.

  I went through this cycle now maybe 50 times; He doesn't seem to get any worse or better over time.

  I installed GPU - Z and turned on logging, then deliberately caused the stop playback of videos.  The judgment seems to invariably occur when the temperature of the GPU is over 110-113 degrees Celsius.

  So, two questions:

  (1) there may be heat sinks that would need to be re-sitting?  Cooling which would need to be cleaned?

  (2) is it possible to replace the GPU?  I have a nVidia NVS 140 M.

  Any other suggestions would be welcome.  Unfortunately, this system is more under warranty.
