Tecra M2 - Geforce FX5200 go Powermizer

I'm not sure if it should be in this section, but I have a problem with the graphics card for my laptop. It seems that it overheats when I run 3D games. Knowing that it's a fairly old cards for Board Games I decided to force the graphics card to run at a lower speed of base that allows me to have the longest battery life and etc by sacrificing the speed with which I don't mind really bleeding. I don't want that it overheating.

Problem:
The powermizer is only fixed on my maximum performance with or without AC. It is as if it is locked. I tried 3rd party software to underclock my gfx card, but he always keeps to the 200 mhz base speed. So I think that speed is locked in a material level T.T. Any ideas or suggestions to help me to underclock my card?

PS: This is the reason why I put this in this thread cause long b4 I screwed (overclocked too far) my gfx card which finally screwed my motherboard and it was replaced by the technicians of Toshiba. After I try to underclock or overclock, no change in speed. Maybe you guys locked technician or something, or maybe they miss a connection of equipment when replacing the motherboard. I've already updated my bios.

> I'm not sure if it should be in this section, but I m in trouble with the graphics card for my laptop. It seems that it overheats when I run 3D games.
First that I would ask you why you think your GPU overheating.
The laptop stops automatically when running 3D games?

Usually, the notebooks of cooling modules should cool the material properly and overheat the CPU or GPU shouldn't t.

But if the laptop overheats then you should check the internal cooling module and fans, because these problems occur if fan is blocked and we cannot turn with maximum performance and can not cool the internal devices.
In this case, you could clean the fans with a jet of compressed air. You could buy these sprays from dealers of computer/laptop.

Regarding your overclock/underclock experiences:
I have to say that you shouldn't t do this because you may damage the GPU. He should know that laptop technology is different just like PC desktop technology and most of the things that are possible on the desktop are NOT possible on the laptop!

    Hello Muggles

Maybe a stupid question, but I would like to know why you need this update. In my opinion, Tecra S3 is not game machine, and I think with driver existing Toshiba, you can use this laptop for all standard graphics operations.

Do you use a 3D graphics application?

  • Tecra M3 Geforce 6200 driver - says hardware is not supported

    Hello

I tried to update the Geforce 6200 with Forceware 91,47 of the site of Nvidia driver, but he said that the material was not supported. What are the latest Nvidia drivers, that I can use for the chipset? I want to use the OpenGL 2.0 features, but the driver on the Toshiba site does support OpenGL 1.5 (I think). I have a Tecra M3.

Also if I added more RAM, it would allow me to increase the amount of RAM used by the card?

    Hello

As far as I know, this camera has no shared memory and RAM cannot be used to go to the top performance of the graphics card.

Problem of driver updates, is that on most units, it is not possible to do a simple reason because of physical protection. If the graphics card with the new driver, is forced to higher limit, the result can be damage or overheating with suddenly switch off.

Your device is quite old and, in my opinion, you shouldn't force them to work at the limit.

In my opinion, you are better off with Win 7 Pro.  It is an extremely stable OS.  However, your conclusions are correct.  There is no driver available for your video card with Win 7.  I would like to try 'Option 2' automatically find drivers for my nVidia products.  This is the correct driver if one is available.

You should be able to use a power supply up to 400W with no problems.  Just ensure that the ATX power connector is correct (20/24 pin) to your motherboard.  A computer uses only the amount of energy needed to work properly.  The extra power is used during peak needs.

I'll be honest.  Your computer is more than 11 years old.  In terms of technology, it is much older than the dinosaurs.  A new computer that's down the line would be light years faster.  Here are two computers who really Win 7 64 bit.  I am not an employee of HP, but use HP computers since 2001.  They were always very reliable.

The effect was, that the resolution of 1280 x 1024 the position at 1024 x 768... no problem itself, but the Office now seems to be a little bit stretched horizontally and the fonts are very distorted - I almost can't read the text more. Hello

Have you checked the nVidia settings?
You can check the display properties > Advanced-> GeForce Go tab

There you should go into the options. I would recommend checking the Zoom option that appears in the slideshow menu on the left side

By the way; in the properties of display-> themes, you can set the background, icons and other elements to the standard settings of Windows XP. Check it!

  • DC7100 PCI VGA CARD

    Hello

I'm currently using a GeForce FX5200 PCI 128 MB VGA card on my pc and it worked very well for many years, today I bought the GeForce FX5500 PCI VGA 256 MB card and I had six beeps with red light flushing flushing (video error) on start-up after installing it.

When I drove to the store to return the card, they tested it for me and it worked perfectly on other machines, but this still does not work on mine. Is there something that I should change or configure it to work?

If this card is not compatible with my model, please advise on a good upgrade for Compaq dc7100 slimline Desktop VGA card which is 256 MB or higher.

    Thank you

SneedoGP, if you are certain that the card is installed properly, it may be that the power supply unit (PSU) has not enough power to power the card correctly.  The PSU is 200W.  I don't know all the cards that will be an upgrade that will work correctly with this power.

  • off message input signal range by turning on pc - monitor hp s2031

    Hello

I have a HP S2031's monitor I got a few weeks ago.  After I got a new video / graphics card in the computer (because the original card couldn't handle all around 1600 x 900 (60 Hz) great things.)  However, I just noticed that when I turn on the monitor and the pc - first before windows starts it is a message indicating that the input signal is out of reach of the settings at 1600 x 900 at 60 Hz.

Now, I don't remember see this message when the original video card was in the pc ~ but I also don't always stay right there while windows starts so I can't say with certainty that the message did not exist with the original video card.

I go to the menu on the screen section and settings are set for 1600 x 900 at 60 hz and I also right click on the desktop and in the display so that settings can also be programmed correctly it and everything is set correctly.

This isn't a problem, unless I'm trying to access the bios.    I tried to go into bios to see what kind of options are there for the video configuration and the only options we configuration video AGP Aperture Size (64 MB). Main (AGP) graphics card. AGP hardware detected - AGP card. Only problem was that at the time where I got this far in the bios that the monitor went to sleep on me. which makes it difficult to get out of the bios and boot the computer normally on the monitor going to sleep on me.

Anyone has an idea as to why I'm getting that message about the input signal and how do I fix as well as how do I stop the monitor going to sleep while I'm in the bios?

I am running Windows XP Professional with sp3 and all updates and the monitor is the HP S2031.  The graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 and the monitor is connected to the pc with the monitor's DVI port since this card has only 2 ports dvi on it. I had an old card in the pc (which has the VGA port) but he could not show the 1600 x 900 with this card (and I'm not sure that the message was there with the old card, since most of the time that I'm not just sitting there waiting to start everything)

I didn't notice the message until today and nothing has changed - other than the new video card and who is in the pc for about 2 weeks now.

Any help would be much appreciate.

    Hello

Sorry that it took so long to get back to you, but things have been very busy here (between the two to get hit with a foot of snow before Halloween and loss of power for a week still to go back to normal)

In any case, as for the video card - it is a card ASUS NVidia GeForce FX 5200 which has 2 DVI connectors which him.  According to the information on the map

Expansion / connectivity Compatible Slots 1 x AGP connectivity Interfaces

    1 x S-video input - 4 pin mini-DIN (with adapter), 1 x S-video output - 4pin mini DIN (with adapter), 1 x video composite input - RCA (with adapter), 1 x video output composite - RCA (with adapter), 2 x DVI - I - 29 pin combined DVI, VGA - HD D - Sub (HD-15) 15-pin (with adapter)

Anyway, I tried to plug the monitor into the other DVI port, and it now works fine.  I guess that a port is bad or it is not intended for making that comes with this monitor.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.  So they were very much appreciated.

  • HP Pavilion ZD7000 hard drive expandable to SSD? Compatible?

I'm looking to upgrade a HP Pavilion ZD7000 (P/N: DN730AV) for Windows 7 Home Premium, including equipment upgrades memory to 2 GB of storage, and I would add an SSD.

    Two questions:

Q: a solid state drive is not compatible to this brand and model of laptop?

Q: If so, the BIOS would require upgrading to support the SSD drive?

    Thank you!

There are several problems with you try to run Windows 7 on this 10 year old material. The video (nVidia Geforce FX5200 GB) card will not support Aero desktop effects and is known to be buggy in Windows 7 with all the drivers from nVidia available. Second, the hard drive is EIDE, not SATA, so there is no available AHCI mode. AHCI is the only way to get excellent performance of an SSD. There are EIDE SSD. And they do not provide a performance increase, but nothing like what you get with modern machines with native SATA (AHCI) support.  It can use 2 GB of RAM which is memory DDR333. It is a single core Pentium 4 processor, and frankly, there are many cell phones on the market with as much computing power.

128 GB PATA (EIDE) SSD for $175

    64 GB for $80

The problem with the SSD isn't the BIOS, but the basic material. Here is the service manual you'll need if you decide to go forward. The laptop is great and pretty easy to disassemble. It could be upgraded to a 3.4 ghz Pentium 4 very easily for a little money if you have a slower processor installed. This would to some extent.

  • Satellite M30-104 - cannot set a good resolution on external monitor

    Hello world

    I have a Satellite M30-104 with a nvidia GeForce FX5200.
This works well but when I plug in an external monitor, which is a widescreen 1440 * 900, I can not put the correct resolution, even if I install the latest driver.

    What can I do?

    Thank you

    Hello

First of all you must check in your manual if your graphics card would support such a resolution external.

But note; you will not be able to select this resolution if the graphics driver doesn t contains, although this resolution would be supported by the graphics card.

As you can see two facts are important: driver graphics and graphics card can support this resolution if you want to use.

  • Can I put Windows 7 on a Dell Dimension 4600?

    Hello

I have a 6 years old Dell Dimension 4600 PC with the following specifications:

    • Processor Pentium 4 3.0Ghz
    • 1 GB OF RAM
    • nVidia Geforce FX5200 128 MB graphics card
    • Windows XP Home Edition
I expect to make a custom on this old PC Setup, but my problems are with the drivers.
I recently used the special Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, which tells me that I meet all of the minimum requirements, and of course programs such as Outlook Express will not available on Windows 7.
In the middle of this report is a link to the Dell (Windows 7 section) website where they tell me to go learn more about compatibility. When I do click on this site and then click on hardware compatibility, it brings me to the next page: http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/topic.aspx/emea/shared/support/dsn/en/document?c=uk&docid=360683&l=en&s=gen
The page says there is apparently only ONE socket support Dell Dimension model which can be improved on the range Dimension, covering a good 30-50 models. I'm sure that this is due to support driver from Dell, which is absolutely horrendous. The drivers on the site range Dell Web from 2004 to 2007 (for the only critical updates), for my model. The only OS supported on the site it is XP. Research on the Web sites of manufacturers of drivers, I find that the newer drivers are available for my hardware, more compatible with Vista. Do I have the old OEM from Dell specific drivers or the drivers provided by manufacturers! Can I REALLY move to Windows 7! Dell said it is not supported (and is fast enough to give me a link telling me to buy a new PC), but I have friends who have installed on other Dimensions of Dell old where it worked a treat. I don't want to lose £70 on a BONE that may not work and may leave me without a usable PC!
    What should I do!

    Hi Fred

Not taken in charge and is not possible are 2 different things.

How you proceed depends on how comfortable you are troubleshooting. It is very likely that you will end up you are looking for a few drivers for hardware on the sites of manufacturers or possibly replace certain hardware devices that are simply too old to work.

Windows 7 includes many of the compatibility of the tools that can help when you use the devices more old drivers/hardware and software troubleshooting.

If the Upgrade Advisor did not identify hard incompatible devices, I would say you should go try before the upgrade. Make sure you have all the latest drivers for the hardware installed and available on external media.

If you have any problems, come back here and start the new thread, we are here to help.
