Tecra M4: Display, VGA BIOS

The problem on my Tecra M4 is as follows:

Once I was using the laptop, suddenly the screen turns black and returns to its normal state, it happened like 3 times in about 10 seconds, then it's all black - I finalize a report for the next day!-, I turned the laptop power several times on and off and the screen is always black, after running and more than ten times suddenly the screen is normal and windows starts normally - I would just like to know what it depends on?
I work as a 10-15 minutes on the windows with no games or heavy tasks, the laptop freezes!

Well, there is no hibernation if its active in the power settings and when I try to stop the laptop I just click on the icons of the judgment and it turns off immediately without the normal duties before the normal closing, and the problem comes back, nothing appears on the screen after having turned it on.

Well well... what I can assure you that is not cable or screen problem because I tried to use an external monitor and that has not helped. I've waited so long to wait for the windows startup sound and I heard nothing. I've updated the VGA driver and BIOS update and nothing is helping!

You may say that I have better access to the Toshiba shop and check if the VGA is broken and the change... but hey... Said it took the dealer Toshiba splendid here from 30 to 45 days to change the broken part, and I'm going to study in like 20 days, so it seems pathetic.

Someone at - it an idea that could help with a problem... ?
I would like someone here would help... !

Hello

You have one of 2 problems, that seems. Either your VGA has went wrong, as you suggested, or your Mo. When you turn on it with an external monitor and it still stays black, your computer isn't at all, and because the screen went black, but returned I will rule RAM problems, as they would have shut down the computer, not do the black screen and back. Chances are the VGA is dead, but it could be your MB, but less likely. Bring it to your ASP and make them change or wait until you get to your new place of study and they change. Maybe they take less time :). Good luck

    Hello

To my knowledge the two models Tecra (M5 and M2) supports the 14.1 display.
The question is whether the cable screen M2 would be match with the M5 connectors

Well, it is not known to me but I think generally you likely would be compatible with Tecra M5 Tecra M2 display.

    Hi Dominic,

Are you able to get into BIOS to make changes?

If so, you can try to reset the default settings of the BIOS and check.

NOTE: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

You can also try to remove all external usb devices that can be connected to the system and start-up and see if the system boots.

  • Tecra A3: display noise

    Hello

I have a new Tecra A3, Centrino 1.6 760 MB of RAM, Win XP Pro SP2.
A few days ago a weird problem started, where I started to see grains in the display. White flicker i.e. small spots all over the screen, similar to the TV noise when there is no station tuned. In addition, all fonts are thick/serrated, double-edged, color gradations are not at all normal.

I thought it was a driver issue screen, not so used, uninstall, install the latest drivers from Toshiba, Intel, but nothing is. Previously it was intermittent. Sometimes it starts with a normal display, sometimes the problem.
Now, every time, it starts with the noise.

I also noticed a when I turn on the laptop, I turned off the logo in the bios, so I don't see the memory check during POST. All these policies, at this point is are shredded.
If an operating system problem is excluded. Even the XP windows logo during boot a whitish flickering.
As a last resort, I tried upgrading the BIOS v 2.10. but no use.

Can someone please say or I might have to turn in controls of the Toshiba svc Center, which would take a few days.

    Hello

Well well, in my opinion it s a hardware malfunction. I guess this problem may be the FL inverter but I m not 100% sure. The FL inverter is a spare low cost part and very easy to replace.
You must contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. They have more practical knowledge in this case.

  • Tecra M7 - display will not be repeated after 10 minutes of inactivity

Hello everyone, I'm new here so please be patient with me! :-)

I've had my new Tecra M7 for about a week now, and while everything else seems to work perfectly, there is a problem with the LCD screen. By default, it is configured to turn off after being idle for 10 minutes. The problem is that it won't resume from this State.

I see that the laptop itself is working (he reacts to pressure on keys etc.) but I had to Hibernate and resume the screen lights up. The touchpad and keyboard activity doing nothing, only hibernate.

At the office, I use the laptop dual-view mode with external 19 "LCD screen connected as secondary display. In this case, the external LCD display will resume after moving the mouse or touch the touchpad, but the primary laptop LCD screen will remain inactive until hibernation.

My question is: do you have someone running into the same question, or that someone has any ideas?

I thought to upgrade drivers Quadro NVS, but discovered that the pre-installed ForceWare drivers (version 84.52) accompanying are actually more recent than those displayed on the nVidia site (84,26 - confusion)! Also he reports (everywhere in the system), it has 256 MB of video RAM, so the specification Tecra M7 on the box says 128 MB so I don't know which is correct?

Thanks for all the ideas in advance!
    RADO

    Hello

Certainly, the nVIDIA Quadro NVS 110 M on the Tecra M7 graphics card supports 128 MB of video RAM.
Graphics drivers from Toshiba are not the same thing as the manufacturers of original cards drivers. Toshiba drivers are a bit changed.
You must use the drivers from the site of nVidia, but especially on the site of Toshiba.

If there is a newer version of the graphics card driver, then remove the old and install the driver from the website of Tosh.
Additional if the new BIOS have been published, you can try to update. But be careful. Be sure to use the good BIOS and the correct procedure for updating the BIOS.

    Good luck..

  • Tecra 8000: Display driver

Hi all, I hope someone can help with my problem. I have a Tecra 8000 and just reformat and installed Windows 98 Second edition, the problem is that I have a small window in the middle of the screen with a black border completely round. I don't have the original disks that came with it and said that I need to install the display driver, as I can change the resolution, is does anyone know where I can download this driver from, or can someone provide me with it. I tried the download from toshiba site, but its not available.
I also tried to change the resolution, but because there is only the installed base driver I can't change it. If anyone can help.
    Thank you
    Mick

[Edited by: admin on 3 July 05 13:21]

    Hello Mick

The problem is that this device is not supported for W98SE and that is a reason why you can not find a driver on the Toshiba site. The graphics card in your unit is NeoMagic NM2200 (MagicMedia 256av).

Please check on the net if you can find a driver on the site of producer of graphics card. There is no guarantee that it will work, but I'm sure that there should be no problem. Please also check the BIOS settings if there is an option called display stretching or something like that. If so he set to active.

  • Tecra M1: under XP Bios Update does not work!

    Hello

When I try to update the bios on my tecra M1, it does not work and stops with a popup that displays the following message:

    Upgrading the Bios
[Error] User is not authorized to update BIOS.

I use windows xp family with administrator permissions

    hope someone could help me...

    Thank you very much!

    Hi again,

Maybe you have to ease restrictions on the file bios. Or maybe you have to log in as administrator, that can be done by pressing F8 at startup, then choose the option "safe boot".
Choose the 'administrator' account, and then try again.

Some comments on your situation would be good.

    Welcome them

  • Tecra M4-138: update BIOS (i) 3.40 (ii) Slim Select Bay HD

    (i) recently (12/06/2007), Toshiba has released an update of the 3.40 BIOS which can be done only through windows. I own a Tecra M4 - 138 running Win XP Tablet Ed and since now I've updated windows fron BIOS (now it is under v3.30). But the last update can be satisfied! After you run the update, it displays a small window with the label 'run... '. "and a bar running and... that's it! After waiting nearly an hour nothing happenned. I called the local dealer and they advised to perform decommissioning if the system restarts to repeat the procedure and if the problem continues to avoid the update. Is this (thankfully)! Because I don't know if this update fixes important and by default, I tend to be updated, any valuable advisor?

(ii) I'm trying for some time to put a HD (secondary IDE) to my Tecra M4-138 using the Slim Select Bay drive HARD adapter (PA-3134U-2CTE), an IDE interface and... of Toshiba 120 GB HD... SATA (!) all bought them 4PC GMBH (a Premium Business Partner of Toshiba...). In any case, after not receiving their share of response to my posts, I decided to use this SATA HD as external USB and I am now looking again for a 2.5 "HD (IDE) put in PA-3134U-2CTE. The question: what can be the maximum capacity that resists the Slim Select Bay?
    ?:|

The update of the bios version 3.40 is logical, but it is not necessary if you are running a stable system.

    There are two major improvements:
    1. exit TV (S-Video) is compatible with Windows Vista now
    2 Improments about Chipset Intel

If you have a floppy drive there is another possibility for updating the bios.
Extract the 3.40 bios. Copy the files chgbiosa.exe and BIO0026T.COM on the diskette.
Now you can perform the update of the bios as described in the http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/faq.jsp?service=EU&FID=TRO0000000b07 Bios FAQ in the traditional update section.

    According to your second problem:
Tecra M4 has no real limits on the size of hard drive in the Bay of select. The only thing you have to rememer is Tecra M4 has an INTERNAL Serial ATA HDD but select bay with a selectbay for Parallel ATA HDD adapter.
So I wonder you bought a SATA HARD drive - for this slim selectbay adapater. PATA HDDs will only fit in!
Back to your question once again. You can buy any real 2,5 "PATA HDD for this card. To get the good HARD-Adator disc on the HARD disk, you should consider buying a drive hard Toshiba selectbay in Catalog option (for example PX1340E - 1 12)

  • HP Envy x 360-m6-w105dx: pixelated display after Bios Update

    Hello

Last night I have updated the bios of my laptop to the latest version. After that, a question arose when the screen will display a wide range of colors.  This problem always occurs when the computer wakes up and must be opened and closed about twice to get it back to normal. Restart does not resolve. The problem occurs when the computer is running on the dedicated graphics card and integrated graphics card. The darker square on the screen is the slider, which normally moves with the touchpad. I appreciate any help and will provide more information if necessary.

    HI @Hotpancake, @Hazemadeeb,.

    Thank you for your patients.

I did further research and it seems to me that you need to update a driver. First try this step.

Download and install the following driver.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp73001-73500/sp73373.exe

Please post back with the results.

    Hello

I found your laptop on the Toshiba support page we:
    http://support.Toshiba.com/support/modelHome?FREETEXT=1364534
Here, I could also find compatible BIOS version.

I downloaded the BIOS package (this is the exe file). But could I unzipped the package by clicking right and select unpack here.
I found the Readme.txt file in the BIOS folder. You will find instruction how the BIOS updated to work.
There was also a notice indicating that BIOS KeyInstallation method, can sometimes be used to recover from failure. If it is not the case, you will need to contact Toshiba authorized Service Provider (ASP) to solve this :(

  • Re: What type of video connection has the Tecra A10 - 11I: VGA/DVI?

    Hello

I'll buy a cable to connect my Tecra to the TV. The manual of the TV indicates that laptop to connect may have a DVI or VGA connector.

  • Tecra R850 - display driver problem - BSOD

    Hello

I have a Tecra R850 with the ATI HD 6450 M and every now and again it crashes and BSOD appears.
I have observed that mainly happens when playing flash videos.
After reviewing the events system, I discovered that there is a problem with the display adapter driver.

The said event system is perhaps a solution [here: http://wer.microsoft.com/Responses/Response.aspx/21682/en/5.1.2600.0.00000000.9.9?SGD=13feb1cd-4c8b-4c3a-aeee-ca4ca2c99729]

This Web page indicates that it is a bug in the driver and I need to upgrade to the latest driver to solve problem, and it provides a link to the ATI Web page.

I downloaded the drivers from ATI Web page and the installation program indicates that it is not compatible with Toshiba laptops.
I checked the Web from Toshiba site and I already have the last (and only) driver for my graphics card.

As it appears on the Web page, there is a bug in the driver, but Toshiba seems not having published an update of the pilot despite Ati...

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you
    Jose.

    Hi Jose

Are you using the original Toshiba pre-installed Windows or your own version?
Display driver original included in the original recovery image is tested, so you shouldn't have trouble with basic stuff like flash video playback.

Since when did you notice this problem? Can you give us an example when this happens?
    You have installed updates?
To be honest, I can't imagine that this issue is on the first day of use.

  • Tecra 8100, upgrading the BIOS, whitch that hard drive is taken in charge (40 GB)?

    Hallo,

I have an old Tecra 8100 one I want to update BIOS. Who knows who is supported (20 GB, 40 GB) hard drive and where can I find the specifications?

    Thanks for your information.

    Georg

    Hello

As I m wrong not the Tecra 8100 does support an IDE HDD controller.
In this case, it should be possible to use the 2.5 IDE HDD.

I can't say much about the formats supported, but the fact is that the size of HDD supported depends on the HARD disk controller. The old controllers IDE up to what the ATA - 5 (also called Ultra ATA/66 or Ultra DMA/66) supported LBA 28 bits, which allows you to use the 120 GB HARD drive max.

Since ATA - 6 (also called Ultra DMA mode 5 or Ultra-ATA100), you can use IDE hard drives of more than 128GB.

So if you want to, you can check your IDE HDD controller using a hardware diagnostic tool (IE Everest home edition). Then you might find out what IDE controller is and what drives are supported.

    See you soon

  • Tecra A7 - after update BIOS it does nothing

    Hi all

I d/l and ran the "windows" BIOS update for my Tecra A7 model. Feeding, I watched the update go through all the steps, including the backup BIOS, but in the last step 8 of writing for the BIOS, looks what it hung. I waited over 2 hours and decide to restart.
You guessed it, now I have absolutely nothing - no Toshiba screen, no BIOS, nothing.

Is there a way to reset the BIOS or restore the backup? I don't have the recovery CD (laptop ready to work - no idea where the CD so). I am applying for DVD with Toshiba (if in fact he help me?) but in the meantime no matter what good techies out there? No floppy no CDROM drive only.

I'm lookin to my Board of Directors, where is the battery? Rock on Bros.

    Hello

Firstly the Toshiba Recovery disk will not help you. It can only restore the operating system (Windows) and has nothing to do with the BIOS.

Also in this case you can't do so because the need for assistance from an authorized service provider. Only authorized technicians can try to reflash the ROM here module, you can search for the nearest:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

    Good luck! :)
