Tecra M9 - slow start (1-3 minutes)

Hello

My Tecra M9 startup is very slow: between 1-3 minutes. Is this normal?
Can I do to reduce this time (which can remove in msconfig/startup...)?

Thank you.
Nicolas

> For the items in msconfig - startup, I kinda scared to delete something I shouldn't.
In MSCONFIG you simply deactivate some processes background, but you would not remove it! So if you need some process, even once, then you could afford it in msconfig.

See you soon

  • Windows 7 32-bit slow start of blue circle hangs on the network icon in the tray for 10 minutes, some programs don't load until the problem resolves.

    Hello world.

It will be long and windy.

I have a problem with my Dell XPS M1530.

im going to write down the details of my question, short first. so if you want you can read my short story on my laptop and I.

    • Slow start.
    • Network at startup initialization problem.
    • Blue circle weighs on my network icon in the taskbar notification for 10 minutes or more. then she disappears with the problem that everything starts to operate correctly.
    • some startup programs do not start until the issue is resolved. (blue circle disappears) i.e. Dell touchpad, magic disc, pda.net and perhaps language bar.
    • programs that have to do with the network or the internet such as IE or center network to hang until the issue is resolved.
    • Some programs won't load if started up that the problem is solved. i.e. open office, cakewalk sonar.

Another thing, I noticed. If I have automatic network connection configuration and the network is in range when I launch firefox I can actually serf the web regardless of the question.

I'm not the only one having this problem, but solutions that work for some do not work for me. some of the things I've tried to understand.

    • has run msconfig to see if it is one of the start up programs or cervix causing the problem. found nothing.
    • has ran the command cmd, I forgot what's it called some thing/something else. It digitizes and restores the registers according to me. did not help
    • Used pc AVG scanner. then corrected all the errors found and the questions. did not help.
    • reinstalled the network drivers. did not help.
    • Ran startup recovery tool to fix problems at the beginning. did not help.
    • Booted up my laptop in SafeMode with network. Works very well

Also, the problem started not with win 7 install I had it on my laptop well before the Enigma.

im running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. as if lately, about 3 months ago, my laptop started to start slowly and be laggy when the system boots. I have no much attention at first. Since the question does not disappear on its own, I noticed that my network in the notification bar icon has a blue circle probably because its network initialization or loading something that is bound to it something as is. After about 10 minutes the issue resolves itself and everything works fine until I have reboot or restart. also if I put my laptop to sleep when I start it it works fine. I think that the time to resolve that issue got longer it is about 10 min now but it used a lot less. at least that's what I recall. In addition, I noticed a few more things. If I left click on the network icon does nothing when normally it will display network connections. If I right click on it displays troubleshooting and Open Network and Sharing Center. Troubleshooting doesn't help and returns nothing. Network and sharing Center is suspended until the problem resolves. in fact, some programs won't load until it the problem goes away like internet explore, network and sharing virtually Center almost everything what has to do with the network and also other programs that require a little more resources e.g. cakewalk Sonar. In addition, other startup programs and services such as Dell touch pad, magic disk, PDA. NEt don't start until after the problem goes away. What else... the kicker is that while the issue is to present the networks I connect to automatically are in fact very well and I have internet, even though the network is still initializing. what I mean is that if I start my portable firefox and launch (cannot use IE because he hangs up) I can go online and the serf of the web.

Well, I am at a loss and don't know what to do next, except to format and clean install. However, people who did it until the problem was which leads me to believe that this is one of the windows updates may be.

If someone knows how to fix this problem or can give a kind of constructive contribution, I'm all ears.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Kosmosis,

I had the same problem, and after fishing trawl through the web to find answers, this is the most reliable solution that I found. At the very least, it will help to determine where the problem is.

    (1) reboot your computer.

    (2) go to Run--> services.msc

    (3) to sort the list by status (click the heading)

    (4) see those blocked at the 'boot '? These are your incriminated objects.

Apparently, Windows has problems initializing services, and until he solves, or give up, he can't go the rest of the startup procedure. Different people get stuck on different things. For me, it was the 'Server' service as jams it for 20 minutes or more.

    You have 2 options:

Right click 1)--> properties and change the Startup Type to "automatic (Delayed). This requires to load later, that hopefully allows all the rest at the end of initialization so that you can use the computer first.

    (2) read the Description of the service and see if you can find whats causing it to get stuck. In my case, 'Server' rule of network discovery, file sharing and printing. I realized that I UNPLUGGED a NAS from Buffalo, who worked as a print server as well. My windows was blocked to find a printer on a network that was no longer available. Remove the printer from devices solved the problem.

If all else fails, you can always try to disable the service. This is probably not the best reccomendation, like its there for a reason, but it might help you to troubleshoot.

    Hello

    1. Since when are you facing this problem?

2 have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

    3. do you get any error code or error message while starting?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

If you have not tried the steps in the following Microsoft article, then try to clean boot and check if it helps.

How to solve the problem by running the clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Once you have completed troubleshooting, perform the steps in the step 7: to reset the computer as usual.

    Method 2:

    Step 1:

If the problem persists, you can create a new user account and check what is happening. To create a new user account

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-user-account

    Step 2:

If the new user account works fine then the old account has been corrupted, you can follow the link given below to fix the corrupted user profile.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

    Hope the information is useful.

If you put expensive RAM and/or incorrect RAM then Yes. iMacs are very sensitive to the RAM and you must use quality RAM, more experienced on these forums users use OWC (www.macsales.com) or critical (direct purchase). RAM should also be installed in pairs. If you purchased anything else, then after a report of EtreCheck of your system and we can look for obvious problems.

  • Satellite X 200 - 25i - slow start on

    Hello

This cute portable X 200 - 25i and everything you've just bought a few weeks ago works great. But I just realised, it this slow start. It will take about 3 minutes to load all the software, and I did install something special... everything is factory shipped Vista, antivirus software for my mouse logitech...

I also replaced a disk, what WD 320, and the first with the OS is the original...

    Any help? Any ideas?

    Thank you all very much...

    Hello

My notebook booted up like a turtle. Do you know why?
Because many applications have been installed in the autostart folder or in the registry, run entry and this affected the start-up procedure.
I had Norton Antivirus installed and loaded always at the beginning.

I read that this software needs of too many resources and slows down the performance of the laptops.
I removed and instead of Norton, I use another program called Antivir antivirus.
It s freeware and my notebooks starts much faster than with preinstalled Symantec Norton Antivirus.

I recommend also using a small tool called CCleaner.
It repairs the registry of the operating system and remove all garbage and junk of the system.
    It s really nice

    See you soon

  • 10.11.4 slow start and performance.

Update caused 10.11.4 my iMac (27-inch, mid 2011) no start, after checking with an external start HD found no system errors, flawless HD, no failure of memory. Finally managed to boot into recovery and do an Internet re - install.

Now I can't boot how whether it's very very slow, at least 10 Minutes, then well that just doesn't seem seem to work it is horribly slow. I was hoping it was indexing, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The question seems to be double, very slow startup and very slow performance. The external HD boot was 10.11.3 and seemed to be doing OK, so I have to assume that the question is 10.11.4 as everything else has been validated. All the usual things were made, PRAM, permissions etc.

At this point I have nowhere to go. BTW, took me 15 minutes to get into this brief overview.

I had problems with Bluetooth, you see only not my speaker MegaBoom and Photo Booth says "No. Camera connected... so I has the following guidelines.

Downloaded and installed Mac OS 10.11.4 from scratch

    Then I reset the SMP:

Reset the SMC on Mac desktops

Follow these steps for iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro and Xserve.

    1. Stop the Mac.
    2. Unplug the power cord.
    3. Wait 15 seconds.
    4. Reconnect the power cord.
    5. Wait 5 seconds, then press the power button to turn on the Mac.

Reset the SMC a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro retina or the MacBook Pro with an internal non-removable battery

This is how to reset the SMC on most modern Mac laptops, which none have a removable battery:

    1. Stop your MacBook Air / MacBook Pro
    2. Plug the power adapter to the Mac
    3. On the MacBook / Pro keyboard, hold down the command + Option + shift and the power button at the same time
    4. All the keys and the power button of output at the same time - the little light on the MagSafe adapter can change colors briefly to indicate that the MSC has reset
    5. Start your Mac as usual

Keep in mind that by resetting the SMC you lose specific power settings, like the time he takes sleep a Mac and other customizations to the power settings. Not much, but if you have made many changes to your behavior of material you want to address things like behavior of sleep again.

Boot time after resetting a SMC machines can be a little longer that usual, it's normal.

Stop and start again, and this fixed everything for me...

  • Satellite Pro - Slow start up and sound is messed up

I had my * Toshiba Satellite Pro * with * Windows XP * for a good few years now. She has always worked like a gem and only gave me no problems until a few weeks ago.

A few weeks ago I was downloading a program and with it the virus 'Antivir Solutions' very undesirable and unliked. I've done everything I can to get rid of this disaster (with the help of the support forums) and I think that I managed to get rid of it, but since my computer has not been the same.

I had trouble downloading a PDF document, a few days ago and it froze so I tried to restart that caused the computer to have a hissing fit, remove my user account which meant I had to configure everything again from scratch. And, now, the computer takes a good 45 minutes from the moment you press the button "ON" when it is ready to start working. Not to mention, it takes a good 10 minutes every time you click on an icon for the program to start actually...

I tried to defrag the system and you have tried to uninstall unused programs to speed up the computer, but it did not work.
I also ran several anti-virus (e.g. Norton, AVG, Microsoft Security Essentials) to make sure that I don't have wicked not spoil me, but they come clean.

May I also add the sound is messed up also. If I use the built-in speakers or external speakers, the sound is disjoint and broken. Like any video I have play.

I don't know what to do.
I can't really afford a new computer, but I need my computer to be reliable. I use my computer for 12 of the 24 hours a day...
    * What can I do? *

    Hi nicoletrist,

I put t know what laptop you have exactly, but I think that the slow start Windows is caused due to viruses you have or had.
A few years ago I also had a virus and it was causing a very slow start to the top, he did take up to 10 minutes until Windows has been loaded and the only solution to get rid of this used Toshiba recovery disc.

I would like to recommend you. Use the Toshiba Recovery disk to restore to factory settings and save your data, because everything on the HARD drive will be erased.
I'm sure after using the laptop recovery disk will work like a charm again! :)

  • Satellite U400 - color of the shell of edges and slow start of the housing

    Hi all

Just bought a Satellite U400-15B and am loving the laptop itself but have the following two issues.

First of all, regarding the case I noticed that on the edge of the high gloss base (where he meets the not shiny black plastic bottom) the paint is already peeling.

It is mainly about above the left USB port, CD drive in Rabat and at the rear above the battery (only visible when the lid is closed). It is very minor and is only visible when looked at her carefully, but obviously I paid a lot for this so do not want to look all worn in a few months. Someone at - it? I took a look at a few display models and its mixed, some are worn in areas similar some are perfect. I would like to exchange it, but I'm afraid that the replacement can be another problem like a dead pixel or may have the same problem only worse?

Second, I noticed that my laptop takes a long time to start compared to my old Toshiba A200 which also runs Vista. I removed a lot of bloatware and the Toshiba TEMPRO, which I heard is also causing problems, but I still have this problem. It seems to start fine until the Vista logo screen then it takes awhile, while displaying "Please wait".

Anyone has any ideas on this?

    Hello MrAK

If the laptop is brand new and you have a few days only I recommend you contact your dealer as soon as possible and. Talk with them and explain that you don't want to have replacement with dead Pixel or something like that. I hope they will understand you and help get new but 100% good laptop.

Slow start is discussed several times. I have Satellite A300 and commissioning was horrible, but now, after a slight modification it starts after only 1.5 minutes.

    Hello

We have several laptops from Toshiba Portege R500 used by mobile workers.
When they are in the Office that they start fine (connected to the network).

But when not connected to the network, they take several minutes to start up to the logon screen.
I checked the boot sequence and the LAN is the last still start on the internal HARD disk.

No idea why they are so slow start when not connected?

    Hello

I understand that your notebook is in the field and use parameters that are applied in the company network.

Maybe the Vista (or XP) looking for these settings if you are not connected to the office network and the entire procedure takes a little longer

May I ask what anti-virus do you use?
Sometimes antivirus software might affect the start and might slow the procedure as a whole.

  • Satellite L300-1AQ - slow start

I bought one of these a few weeks ago. It takes more than three minutes to boot to the full desktop, I think that it is very poor. A friend has a non-Toshiba, which has a lower spec and it takes a minute. My son (even more low spec) Toshiba takes 1.5 minutes. I've already exchanged this laptop, but the alternative is just as bad - same again without installing any additional software. I contacted the assistance service, but they do not have much help telling me to use MSCONFIG and Google apps could be disabled - I've tried a few, but it made no difference. Most of the time is spent with a screen 'Please wait '.

In my opinion a core 2 processor (T5800) with 2 GB of RAM it not delay it. If I can't get help from Toshiba or here then I will get a refund on this machine - much as I otherwise it - only 3 minutes to the loan is completely unacceptable, especially when it is lower spec machines are so much faster.

    Hello

Many people here on this forum have reported the same. My answer is that you need optimal configuration of the operating system. If you have time, please take a look at thread
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=134947 where I described my experience with slow start.

Please don't be confused because I write any other laptop model. In general this slow start is not mobile specific problem.

  • Slow start up on my Satellite A660/07U

    I have a Toshiba A660/07u computer. She has 32-bit and 64-bit windows. I prefer to use 64-bit Windows 7.
The thing is noticed Windows 7 is a good 2 minutes to get to my office. It's desktop in about a minute and then still charges... Meanwhile I can't access what anyone, if I try to access a program (such as ie) it would be insensitive and take a white to recover.

So overall 1 minute on the desktop (as soon as I press the button) and then another minute on the desktop. Is there something wrong? Others using the template there?

Or is this model designed only to be used with 32-bit?

    Thank you

    Hello

Each preinstalled own Toshiba notebook with recovery image has of course, fairly slow start. Is not visible on your laptop only. When I got my Satellite P500 I noticed the same thing.
This is nothing unusual because software Toshiba engineers have enabled Autostart with Windows for all important and utility tools. Some of them are not so important and can be disabled.

Antivir (McAffe) preinstalled application can also slow Windows startup, so there is definitely no reason to panic. What you need to do is to configure your Windows. This means remove all applications, you do not need. Disable auto-start for all Toshiba stuff you n t need.
Also, make sure that the Microsoft updates are not set to the automatic update option. This means that Windows can download all the updates in the background and you will know what is going on. This download and installation can and will slow down the performance of the laptop.

I recommend choose you option inform me of updates but let me choose... When you do this, you wll be informed of new updates. You can check the updates are listed, and then decide to install immediately, or maybe more later.

Check this and let us know whether or not the starting time will be reduced.
