Tecra S1 - black screen even on external monitor

Hello

I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this, but here goes: I have a tecra s1 who was working fine then one day. I turned it on all I get a black screen. I suspect that it's the hard drive but not 100%.

I tried to connect to an external monitor as the same just a black screen. My question is this laptop does not start if the hard drive is bad I think it would be at least got to the bios screen, but I get nothing but a black screen.

any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hi cracypcguy,

For me, this looks like a hardware malfunction if on an external monitor, you can see a white screen also. In addition, I doubt it has something to do with the HARD drive. In this case you should see the screen of the BIOS at least.

Anyway, in your case, I'll ask a maintainer approved assistance. Technicians can check your laptop parts and the exchange of defective material.

I hope I could help you! :)

Hi, I have a headache with a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 mojor. The screen began to move to the blackout at random times and happens more and more. It is not serious if W
Jayindows has loaded or if I enter the bios, boot from the CD or leave it sitting waiting for me to select a boot device. More often than otherwise, it becomes black, but you can still see what needs to be on the screen, it is simply not at all turned to see clearly. The laptop itself still works very well because it works on an external monitor and makes the system beeps, cd turns etc.
    Have you tried the following:
Setting of various parameters in the graphics properties and in the bios but makes no difference.
It also becomes active again if I press FN + F5 to swap monitors but turns off after a few seconds.
It is not overheating as it's been all night and still sometimes happens when starting Cold Stone.
I tried to start with / without battery - no difference.
I tried to start without the disk HARD - no difference.
I tried to remove the battery by pressing power for 60 seconds, then add the battery and new starter - no difference in power.
I could have sworn it is the inverter, but it does the same thing with an inverter I know works! do not think that it may be graphic because it works on an external monitor and turn off.
I'm out of ideas and looking for a genius to fix it for me please!
    See you soon

    Hey Buddy,

    > It turns on but not at all to see clear
This would mean that the FL inverter is faulty the FL inverter of the internal LCD display controls the backlight of the screen and if the isn t working FL inverter you can see a picture, but very very dark.

It would be a logical explanation for your problem, because there must be something wrong with the laptop LCD if an external monitor is working properly. Also if it happens in the BIOS the problem is not software.

In your case I contact an authorized service provider and ask the guys for help. They can check your laptop and this should be done. Here, we can only speculate and discuss the different possibilities because it s just a user forum. EPA has professional diagnostic tools and can order all Toshiba spare parts.

    Good luck! :)

  • Tecra S1 - display problem, even on external monitor

One day I was using the laptop, surfing the net normally, everything was fine and suddenly the screen went bad... (photo below). I tried using an external monitor and still the same, so I'm sure that my monitor is fine and it is probably a problem of display card?
I tried to update my display card driver and no luck, so I decided to use the recovery CD to restore the system and no luck once again.

Here is a screenshot after the system restore... y at - there a way to fix this without taking it to a service center?
    Thank you

    Hi borist,

It s really great that you could post a picture of your problem. Thank you!
In addition, you have already tried a lot of as the recovery facility and an external monitor.

Unfortunately, it seems to be a hardware malfunction of graphics card. :(

This means that you will need to swap the motherboard because the graphics card is fixed on it. Motherboard is a party quite expensive and Tecra S1 is old notebook then maybe you can get a second hand or laptop motherboard on eBay and swap it out.

    Good luck! :)

  • Black screen in the source monitor

I'm trying to synchronize an audio file that is good with my .mov. But when I do exactly what is described here automatically synchronize the audio and video files in Adobe first Pro CC from the audio - waves YouTube I just get a black screen in the source monitor. Why? Shouldn't I be see the its synchronized with the video file in the source monitor Panel?  I'm new to first, maybe if I have a setting turned off? Please advise!

[Please choose a brief description for the title of the thread, and only after the real problem in the main body].

Yes, the image expands, but you have the Source and monitors shrunk very small sizes n the screen capture program.

Was the clip defined when you merged and exit points?

(By the way, my post request 3 was on target.)  The video is considerably shorter than the audio, which represents a large part of the black you would see in the Source monitor.)

There is a shortcut to transmit, you can assign.  Although I don't know if she'll switch or just turn it on.

  • Tecra M3: black screen on startup, the vertical lines on the external monitor

    Hi all

I searched a lot on the Internet for a solution to this specific problem, I have, but did not find a thread
with exactly the same problem. I have a Toshiba Tecra M3 with Windows XP SP 3. Two weeks ago, I encountered problems with the commissioning. After a couple of times to restart it would work. Then it became worse... When I try to run I see no splash... the screen remains black. If I press the power button, I hear the fan and CD player but no screen. It is totally black. I know its working because I can go (blindly) in the installation program. Press end, and then press Y and enter. The computer will restart but still no screen.

I plugged it to an external monitor. Pressing Fn and F5 allows switching. The external monitor shows different
vertical lines in multiple colors. They change if I go to settings or you try to start windows.

Does anyone have a solution to these problems?

I have fear of solution can be given by the service only.
In my view, this question must be tested properly.

I can't say for sure, but to me that sounds like a technical question. Without testing you will know for sure what is the problem.
Here on the forum we can only speculate why this happen.

As you can see on notebooka? s LCD problem. On external it doesnâ? t properly work as well. It may be a faulty graphics card.
Try to contact the nearest authorized Toshiba service and speak with the technician.

  • Acer Aspire 6930 no screen, not even on external monitor

One of my clients gave me an Acer Aspire 6930. When I tried to bring up the laptop I have nothing on the screen to indicate to all life. But the disks rotate. I tried to boot from a Windows XP disk and still nothing on the screen. I tried FN + F3 and FN + F5, FN + F6 to no vail. I tried video routing using a HDMI cable and by repeating steps and received a 'no signal' on the external monitor and I tried the same process using a VGA cable for the external monitor and still "no signal". I tried to Flash the bios with a modded one since I don't know how to seprate the exe of the bios with insertng hex editor the usb flash drive and pressing the FN + ESC, and then press the power button and now the keys FN + ESC 5 additional seconds. • Tecra A2, making it the primary external monitor

I connected an external flat display of 1280 x 1024 on my A2, the extended value desktop and the native resolutions, everything looks "sharp."

But whenever I click on the 'do this (external) monitor the primary monitor' box (then apply...); the external screen goes black and the laptop screen goes back to 640 x 480 resolution...

Before I was perfectly able to do my external screen in primary, but since the 1.30--> 1.40 firmware update it seems more possible... Yet, in my preferences-monitor the appropriate box is clickable. I've also updated the graphics card drivers, but no result better here.

All I can do to make this work as it did before? Which means that all the screens native resolution and the external display being the main with the Windows bar at the bottom? Any help appreciated :-)

    Greetings from Holland!

    Rin

    Hello

Is this the situation even if you use the extended desktop in the properties of the graphics controller Intel?

  • Tecra A10 - 1LL - connection with the external monitor

    Hello

I have a problem with my laptop Tecra A10.

When I connect to an external monitor to the laptop I have to manually switch the screens because external shows nothing. When I disconnect the monitor I have to pass the screens manually with FN + F5 because the internal display shows nothing.

My old laptop (Tecra A9 (PTS52E-0E702NGR)) is the poster automatically whenever I connected or disconnected an external monitor.

Anyone has an idea why the A10 light automatically as the old notebook? Maybe it's the only spot in the preferences of the display driver that I don't see right now. :-)

    Hi SilverWizard,

What happens if you try to switch on the external monitor using the options of display driver, or that this combination of buttons don t work?

As wrote Al - eX you must update tools from Toshiba to get the keys FN working again. Everything can be downloaded here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

    It's working now?

  • Tecra M11-LaTeX runs slow on external monitor using Express Port Replicator

    Hi all

I am having trouble with my Tecra M11 with an external monitor, through an Express Port Replicator II.

It is very accurate, but I am running texlive 2010 on my laptop to write a thesis. Whenever I use my laptop screen feature is very good, and it works very fast, no lag when I compile my document. As soon as docking it into my docking station at work to use it on a big screen, whenever I use the same program, it slows down a lot, finally causing the crash program. Its frustrating to lose a lot of your thesis like this! When I connect the external monitor directly to the laptop, it works fine again.

Something goes wrong in the docking station. Anyone know how I can fix this? Im a little confused and ideas. Maybe I pilot or something im unaware of. My docking station is maybe defective?

    Thank you

    Jake

Port replicator port on which do you use? VGA or DVI?

It won't be easy to provide the answer to your question. It is not possible to test all the software available with docking station and research solutions.
    I would say: bad luck.

  • Satellite Pro L670-103 screen is dark - external monitor ok

    Hello

Screen goes black in my Satellite Pro L670-103 while playing games. It is not completely off, but very very dark.
System is activated and works while its happening. No flickering, changing colors.
On the external monitor (TV via HDMI) everything works fine (so I guess that the GPU is very well).

The beginning I had to restart the laptop and screen was once again but now it does not work and I have to wait a few more hours a sound goes on again just by itself (im leaving laptop on).

I only use the approved oryginal drivers.
    System Windows 7 pro 64
I guessed it might be the display inverter, but someone from the point of laptop repair told me that because my screen is RUN there is no converter and problem is with the screen itself.

I spent hours reading various forums and UPS has been my best guess.

    Hello

I think that its problem of converter FL.
The FL inverter controls the backlight of the internal display.
I think I get m with my suggestions because the external monitor looks ok.
So it may not be a driver issue not a GPU problem

Get in touch with the service in your country then must check this part

  • Tecra A2: Question about DVI and external monitor

    Hello
I am trying to get a DVI Signal of the Tecra A2 using the Advanced Port Replicator III but without success. The A2 does support DVI anyway?
Another question: is it possible to set up the main display to the external monitor using "extended Desktop"?

    Thank you
    Ralph Menon

    Hello Ralph

Your unit doesn t support DVI port and you can't use it. As far as I know just the ports that you can find on the device, you can use in Port Replicator because the signal is just loop through.

The problem with the screen is that mobile has the main value and it cannot be changed (on my Tecra M1 nor). The windows will be implemented on an external but password box will always be displayed on the screen of the laptop.

    Good bye

  • Tecra Z50 - need to connect two external monitors

I think to buy Tecra Z50, but one of the features that I need is the ability to connect two external monitors.

Is it possible to have a monitor connected to the HDMI and a VGA (with computer laptop lid closed)?

    * Hi-speed III Port Replicator is not an option, because it is not available in my country (Croatia).

    Hello

I don t think you will be able to connect two external monitors to this laptop using HDMI and RGB port at the same time because of different types of signals.

The RGB/VGA port supports analog signal.

The HDMI port provides the digital video output and when the external monitor is connected to the HDMI port the device is set to HDMI.

    > * Hi-speed III port replicator is not an option because it is not available in my country (Croatia).
What of the Dynadock? Its an external device connected to the s for computer laptop USB port.
It supports own graphic unit and you can connect to another external monitor such Dynadock 2nd.

  • Unable to set the resolution of the screen for an external monitor

I'm trying to set up an external monitor to Asus to mirror my iMac 27 "new using a HDMI > Lightening connection, but using the monitor preferences, requires both screens at the same resolution. The Asus monitor is smaller, I'm looking for mirror to a proper resolution to the screen (that I can actually read!). From what I gleaned on the web until now, so it should be easy - and now I think it has to do with the HDMI connection on the monitor. Any advice would be much appreciated!

You will need to disable mirroring.

  • Tecra M2 - black screen with blinking cursor

    Hi guys,.

Im hoping someone out there might be able to help me fix my laptop.
Ive read a few posts, but not sure they can help me.

When I swicth on my Tecra M2, I just end up with a black screen with blinking cursor top-left, or I get a screen filled with a mix of 0 and 1.
Sometimes the home TOSHIBA screen appears with the boot options, other times it doesn't.

I can't boot from a CD and it does not start on the HARD drive. Ive took the HARD drive on and the CDROM outside but it does the same thing that suggests to me that its does not get via the BIOS as far as the boot sequence.

This sounds like failure of the BIOS for you and you know a way to fix it? Ive tried to take the battery, turn off and start again, but the same thing happens.

    Any advice would be appreicated.

    Thank you

    Ross

    Hello

The cursor blinking in the upper left corner is known to me.
I got a same problem or question may be similar.
My laptop (from another manufacturer) didn t start but only the cursor appeared.

In my case, the HARD drive was dead, and the operating system could not be loaded.
In your case, the HARD drive may be dead, but usually the laptop must be able to boot from the CD/DVD drive so I m wondering why you are not able to boot from the disk
However, the first of all what you need to check if the HARD drive is listed and recognized by the BIOS.

Press ESC, then F1 to access the BIOS.
You can also set the BIOS to default settings too.

If the HARD drive is not recognized, you should replace the HARD disk.
