Tecra S11-128 on the external screen flashes

Gentlemen.
I have two problems.

1st. If I use the S11-128 with the provided power supply and an external LCD display, a distracting flickering effect is visible. It disappears if I run the laptop off the battery or with an old Tecra M2 supply (2004, electrically equivalent). My faulty power or is it a common behavior?

2. I wrote a polite and detailed message, but the language of the forum filter does not let through, so that you get a condensed version X-(X -)

TIA,
Paolo

These symptoms are typical for the land issue.
I much read about flicker on external monitors, while the laptop is connected to the power adapter.
In most cases, a 3Pin adaptor cable might solve this problem.

I recommend that you get in touch with an ASP local and order this cable.

    Hi all,

I'm sorry for my English not good.

I have a problem: my Tecra S11-128 pc is dead.

When the power is connected, the power led is light. When I press the power button, there is no answer. Nothing. Dead.

I tried to get it repaired in a technical centre, but they said that they cannot fix it.

    On eBay, I found this motherboard: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Toshiba-Tecra-S11-168-Motherboard-Mainboard-fuer-i5-/141290303681?ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ: A: 1123

But the description says "Tecra S11-168",

Is it possible to change the my Tecra S11-128 with the Tecra S11-168? Are they compatible?

    Thank you.

It seems that two laptop computers Tecra are the same. In other words, they have the same part number (PTSE3E), so I think you can buy it.

  • The start screen is displayed on the external screen

    Hi guys,.

Recently, I have a Thinkpad L540 and it is pretty cool.

But I had a problem when the laptop starts when a VGA is plugged, the splash screen (the screen just after, when the portable lights) is always displayed on the external screen (projector).

I already checked the BIOS and it is set to "Thinkpad LCD".

I don't know if it will be fixed with a BIOS update.

    Thanks for your help.

    Sincerely,

    Zero1519

    Welcome to the forum!

What you see, it's quite normal and the way it has always been on ThinkPad.

Don't expect an update of the BIOS to "fix".

  • Under XP, when I try to install the program screen flash BACK and trying to change back, but then return to the windows form.

When I run the Setup in the program screen flash backs and trying to change back, but then return to the windows form.

    * original title - back program will not be run. *

How old is this program and what is his name?  If you give us the name of the program someone read here who have experience with the peculiarities of the program might be able to provide more help.

Open a command prompt, and then try running Setup from the command prompt.  To start a command prompt, type CMD in the box run from the start menu and press or click OK .  At the command prompt, you can use the CD command to navigate to the CD, or you can run the Setup program by using the full path to the Setup program, for example:

    x:\Install.exe

where x is the CD drive letter.

  • Re: Tecra M5 - cannot use the native screen resolution of my external monito

Hi, I have a Tecra M5 and just bought a BenQ G2220HD monitor. However, I can't display the native resolution of 1920 x 1080. I guess it's a problem with my video card.

If so, can anyone please suggest what video card, I need to buy?

    Thank you

    Scott

    Hello!

I checked the manual of your laptop (it can be downloaded from the Toshiba site) and it seems that the resolution 1920 x 1080 is not taken in charge.
Here is the list of manual of the supported screen resolutions:
    640 x 480
    800 x 600
    1024 x 768
    1280 x 1024
    1600 x 1200
    1920 x 1440
    2048 x 1536

I think that should answer your question ;)

And as Akuma says the graphics card can t be exchanged because it s soldered onto the motherboard. In the area of the FAQ in the forum, I founded this interesting article:

  • Laptop Tecra - red tint on the extended screen

I would go over my Tecra laptop to an external monitor and worked fine until a couple of days where the monitor screen suddenly started showing red on the screen while the screen of my laptop has a normal color to this topic.

I tried different from 2 monitors and 2 different VGA cables, so it must be a problem with the settings of display or hardware in the laptop. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

It is not easy to give you a concrete answer to your question. In my opinion this should be verified by Toshiba service provider.

I don't know who don't Tecra you have and trying to output ports video there but if there are also available HDMI port to test with your TV.

  • Tecra S11 - bluescreen when the WiFi switch is on

I've known several accidents suddenly blue screen, with apparently no advice. After several tests of different conditions I counted it takes place when the WiFi switch is on. So, it should be associated with Bluetooth or WiFi.

Any suggestions how to proceed further? apparently I have the latest drivers (Windows 7 64)
    Thanks, Guido

    Hey Buddy,

Have you already checked the BIOS if you have installed the latest version? If this is not the case check this on the Web from Toshiba site and make an update of the BIOS. Maybe it helps

But I had a similar problem last year and the solution was exchanging the WLAN card.

I think your Tecra S11 should still be under warranty and in this case that the repair will be free. :)

  • Tecra S11 - what are the two primary partitions for?

    Hello everyone

I just got myself a new Tecra S11 with Win7 64 and there is one thing that has me littlebit wondered.
In total, there are four partitions, there are for sure the recovery a (1.46 GB) and the system a (256,38 GB), but then there are also two primary partitions (8.86 and 31.38 GB) without displayed use or file system. There is no unallocated space.

Can someone tell me what are these two partitions? I want to split the system partition to store my data on a separate, if possible I also want to use that 'unknown' space then ;)

Besides that: don't worry, I already have recovery DVD.

    Greetings
    Nico

I put t know why you now have the new structure of the partitions, but the important thing is that you create recovery DVDs and if something goes wrong with the preinstalled recovery image OS or HARD drive you can use DVDs for the installation of the OS.

  • How to use the external screen with my Satellite M30?

Hi guys, I have the following problem:

I have a portable Satellite M30-642 former. My keyboard it is completely broken (spilled something on it) so I use an external USB keyboard.

Now that I bought a TFT I wanted to use it as a primary device, so I need to take the laptop to the external output.
The laptop itself recognizes as a secondary screen already, but this isn't what I want.
Problem is I can't switch from the display without the FN key devices!

I tried to search the net and this forum - but the solution posted does not work for the M30. There is no option in the utility of HW and not in the BIOS to enable the external keyboard support.
Please is there any other combination of keys that would work or a software utility that allows me to turn on? It's a really bad situation for me :(

    All solutions anyone? :(

    Greetings and thanks in advance
    HQ

    Hello

Please don't be crazy on me but I write here very often and somehow try to help, but I'm still irritated if someone thinks that anything is possible. Unfortunately, you have to accept that sometimes there is hardware limitation and there is nothing to do.
I want to talk about primary and secondary monitor.

On most laptops, the LCD is always set as primary and cannot be changed. So, as far as I know, without using the FN + F5 key combination you extend the desktop to external display and use both of them. Using display settings you should be able to switch to an external display only (display control panel settings NVIDIA advance settings and so on). Please test only because I don't have M30, but the principle is used the same.

If you will be able to use external display only try to restart your laptop and see on which screen the office will be shown. If you will be lucky and office will be shown on the external display, try to extend the desktop to second monitor (laptop LCD).

    Good bye

  • E540 + Dock among Pro - max of the external screen resolution is 1280 x 1024

    Hello

This issue could be discussed and resolved already somewhere else, but I couldn't find a match for my situation:

I recently bought the ThinkPad E540 with Pro among docking station, in which I have connected my external LG Flatron IPS236 monitor. LG max resolution is Full HD 1920 x 1080, but for some reason any the max of my external screen resolution is only 1280 x 1024. The screen is connected to the station Pro among DVI port. I have two day of the graphic card drivers and the LG monitor drivers and started the system. I also tried using 75 hertz and framerate of 60 Hz, but without any help.

    What should I try next?

HA, I finally got. Research on the subject long enough, revealed the cold made that updated Lenovo systems do not provide you with the last set of drivers (graphics card). On the contrary, it prevents actually update you the drivers downloaded from the provider (Intel) site. * beep *.

So was the solution for this:

-Remove the display card drivers (Device Manager / display adapter / preferences / adapter / uninstall)

-The latest drivers downloaded from the web site of the hardware vendor intall

    BUT PLEASE NOTE:

Just after I had uninstalled the original display card drivers both the external display and the display of the desktop became black. I had to reset my computer and start Windows Mode safe, where I was able to install the new drivers.

Now my question for Lenovo is: * beep *.

Why is - that you can not simply to allow installation of the latest drivers from map display through your own update system OR simply give users the ability to update the original adater than newer display drivers.

If you remove the battery and reinsert external screen should start to work. It allows to update the phone software you can download from your service providers web site.

  • Tecra M5 freezes at the home screen at startup (post Safeguard Easy Install)

Since the installation of disc Safeguard Easy encryption, my M5 freezes to the initial Toshiba screen. Pressing Ctrl - Alt - Del was going on this and on backup password screen.

It seems that there is a patch of BIOS for the Satellite Pro series, but I don't see anything for the Tecra, and Tecra M5.

It's because of the bios Vista support for fastboot.
There is a new version of utimaco released that fixes this bug.

  • The external screen brightness

    Hello

I've just set up a double screen (laptop and external monitor) but the new monitor is very bright and I'm having difficulties to reduce the brightness. I tried following the instructions from microsoft but whenever it only reduces the brightness of laptop and not monitor. Or if I have just selected screen there is no nothing. Can anyone suggest what is the problem or what I could do wrong?

    Debbie

If you have adjusted the settings on the screen itself, have all built in contrast and brightness settings.

If it does not respond to changes in settings from Windows this would indicate the display is being saturated. Have you tried the monitor on another computer to see if it falls within normal limits?
