The file 'asms' is required to complete the Windows XP installation?

Hi all

One day, I tried to format my hard drive on my computer and now whenever I start it, it says «the installation program restarts...» "and then it takes me to a screen where it shows"the asms file is necessary to complete installation".
This happened about a week and no luck.

I tried the suggestion of Microsoft to remove a registry value. but it just got worse when my mouse and keyboard no longer work. My keyboard only works in the BIOS. But, after that, I can't do anything since my mouse and keyboard do not work. I tried to use DBAN to erase the hard drive, but there is no option to boot from the drive in the BIOS. My DVD-ROM doesn't recognize any CD, and the BIOS shows no option to boot from the CD.

I ME HELPLESS SENSE!

IF SOMEONE COULD HELP ME PLEASE!

Thank you
Lenixos

Check with the manufacturer of the computer for the start from cd in the bios setting. Usually, you should find the option Boot priority in the BIOS, make sure DVD rom is the first option in it.

Where can I get a copy of the Windows XP installation for my sister. His was a virus and I had to format the drive. It's a registered computer. I have it ready for the operating system but I need to download a copy so I can retrieve my CD-ROM/DVD-Rom drive, so I can then bring to its system and reinstall the XP and then if she wants that we can get a windows 8. I use windows 8 on this system, I bought a few months ago and it's satisfying, but I don't understand why when I got it I could do things like using the keyboard of the screen with my fingers, but now I can't even use the keyboard mouse. It won't work at all. In a way I found it better that way at the beginning because I do a lot of typing and it would freeze until I was constantly stressed. I returned to Windows 7 mode I think but not sure.  All I know is that these two things have never worked correctly, so if they are still under warranty I will bring to the Future Shop and maybe they can fix it. I wish I could turn on and off easily so it does not interfere with my writing and study of a language second.

  • How can I boot from the Windows 7 Installation CD so that I can reformat the hard drive before reinstalling Windows 7?

How can I boot from the Windows 7 Installation CD so that I can reformat the hard drive before reinstalling Windows 7?  I have already reinstalled Windows 7 from the CD, but that has not solved my problems.  When I put the factory CD in my CD player, it won't always boot from the CD.  When I put my Windows 7 Ultimate CD in the CD drive, it doesn't always start from the CD.         I realize that the reformatting is not always necessary, but I caught a few viruses (despite anti-virus running) and I need to start with a clean hard drive.

You must go into the BIOS and change the boot on CD order

Go to the store and buy an optical drive. They are very expensive. No, you cannot use the optical drive of your laptop. You can possibly create a bootable USB key with a distribution of Linux on it and copy the correct boot hard disk files. I say "may" because not all older computers can boot from a USB device. Look in your BIOS to see if your computer has this capability. If he can:

    http://www.pendrivelinux.com

If you have not backed up your data, then you have trouble. While you're at the store also buy an external hard drive. You can start the computer with a Linux Live CD (in your new optical drive), and copy the files on the external hard drive. Then you can continue to try to repair your computer.

  • What would be the Windows 7 Installer download file name?

A couple of years ago, I bought Windows 7 to upgrade a Vista laptop.  It is a download purchase that I had to create an installation DVD of.  Long story short, I never put Windows 7 on the laptop.  I did the installation DVD is not found I want to update now.  Somewhere on my computer laptop is that file that I downloaded to create the Windows Installer DVD... but what the hell would be the name of the file?  I have my product code recorded in the receipt of e-mail from the purchase of Windows, but of course the download link for the file is now expired.  I can order a backup drive now that the download link has expired, but I prefer to find the file and do not have to wait for a disk to be shipped.

Any help to know which files am I looking for?  I'm guessing that maybe it's a zip file?  My hard drive is full and I have no idea what file name, I should be looking.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello!

You may search for *.iso in Windows Explorer on the desktop.

In the case where you can't find it you can download it here: http://www.w7forums.com/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads-t12325.html

  • How to extract files from the Windows 7 installation CD?

I remember that on Win98, I can use SFC. EXE to extract all those files. CAB files on the installation of Win98 CD and place the files extracted into a folder I want. In addition, I don't need to know where. CAB of the target file should be some.

The SFC. EXE in Win7 replces only system files. It does not extract and put all the files as the SFC in Win98.

So, how to extract files from Windows 7 installation CD?

    Hello

    ·         Why you want to extract the file from the Windows 7 DVD?

    ·         What file you want to extract?

Some of the files will be locked or currently in use by the system so that you will not be able to replace their while that started in Windows 7. Therefore, SFC scan tool is used to repair any file corruption in windows 7.

Design by default, you can extract the files. You can copy and paste the file into your Windows 7 DVD drive, refer to the article below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/copy-and-paste-a-file

  • The Windows 7 Installation failed, error code: 0 x 80070017

I own a legal copy of DVD of Windows 7 64-bit. I'm trying to reinstall it on my computer, which, for the time being, has no operating system installed, but 13% of expanding windows files, I always get the following error message:

Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupted or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0 x 80070017

What is the problem, how can I fix it? Is my Windows 7 disc damaged?

If you have downloaded Windows 7 and it burned a DVD test burn again at the slowest speed possible. It is also possible the download may have errors, you can try to download it again.

If you have several hard drives remove all except the one that you install Windows 7, and then replace it after Windows 7 is installed.

Disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse before installing.

If using a video card and the computer has integrated video use and remove the video card.

Unplug the computer from the internet, if you have wireless disable.

RAM (memory) - reduce the amount of RAM. 1 GB if 32-bit installation, 2 GB for 64-bit, then replace RAM if the upgrade was successful. If you added new RAM make sure it is also compatible.

Windows 7 installation disc does not

Just a few troubleshooting steps to see if the drive is bad or if the DVD player is bad:

If you have another DVD player available try to use this drive in your computer instead.

If you have another computer available, try the disc of Windows 7 by using this computer and see if it can read the disc, or if the disc cannot be read and is bad.

In addition, if you purchased the retail version of Windows 7 try to put in the other disk of type bit of the Windows 7 disc and see if it works properly.

If you cannot start Windows 7 installation disc, your computer can boot from other bootable disks?

To manually remove an entry in the Windows Start menu:

Type MSCONFIG in the box files and research programs of Windows 7, then press the Enter key.  When the System Configuration window opens, click on the Startup tab, click once on the entry you want to delete, and then click Remove, and then click the button apply.

You can use EasyBCD to modify the start menu in Windows 7, it allows you to edit the startup entries.

  • Problems with the windows 10 installation partitions

So I try to install windows 10 via bootcamp on my macbook pro 2012.

However, I still have problems when I get to the screen of partition on windows 10 installation.

So I opened the USB BOOT EFI and install from there.

I enter my product key, accept the license, and I'm greeted by the partitioning. I select the bootcamp partition, but it will not format, gives me an error message, or it will allow me to format, but no real format. If I try to delete the partition I can't create a new one, because it gives me an error message. If I try to solve this problem by making the partition EXFAT / FAT always displays the problem. If I format it under OS X EXTENDED it allows me to move forward, but after installation, it simply gives me the blue screen of death trying to boot from the BOOT EFI of SSD.

No idea how to solve this problem, I am getting very frustrated and frankly upset against apple to give instructions so little.

  • Bootcamp does not recognize the Windows 7 installation DVD

    Hi guys,.

I've never had a problem installing Windows 7 via bootcamp on my Mac, but it seems an impossible feat, right now! :))

I have a Windows 7 bootable *.iso, but since I'm on 2010 Macbook Pro, I have to burn it to a DVD and install from there (I can't find the disk of valuable facilities).

It is, every time that I burn it, it does not get recognized as a bootable DVD with bootcamp and not appear as a boot disk in the selection screen, you need to keep alt right after the startup chime.

I tried at different speeds (2 x, 4 x, 8 x). I tried to convert the image using disk utility and selection of DVD/CD master and burning at different speeds.

I'm in two DVD and I don't know what to do :) I've got El Capitan installed (so less disk utility options).

    Please help! :))

    Hi the prey,

    ·         What is the brand and model of the computer?

You should check the settings of the computer BIOS (Basic Input\Output System) to boot from the CD/DVD. Check the manual or the support of the computer Web site for the same.

Note: Be careful when you change the BIOS settings. The BIOS interface is designed for advanced users, and it is possible to change a setting that can prevent your computer from starting properly.

Run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to see if your computer is compatible to install Windows 7.
