The heap size

Gurus,
I have a question about the increase in the size of heap in Hyperion, say for example in planning or financial reports.
I have seen some indications that we could do this in several ways, for example by going into the registry (REGEDIT in the command prompt) editor and software > Hyperion... etc. Or the other way would be to change by going to EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE/bin/deploymentscripts/setCustomParamsFoundationServices.bat and change the XMS / XMx etc.
My question is how to check us whose size has changed?
I want to say we need to be so that the change is taken into account
Is there any config file, to check to see if the size has increased.
Thank you

Pablo gave you that a good idea :) do not remember if it is also written in the WebLogic managed server logs
As long as they are correctly defined in accordance with the documentation and you restart the web application, the changes should be implemented.

See you soon

On page 69 of the installation guide, it shows how to change the JVM for X 86 servers.  Maybe this will give you a place to start looking for your current size.  On X 64 if it has been installed with the 10 GB of memory, then would be a chunk of memory to 2 GB size and anything less than 10 GB would result in a segment size of memory 512 MB.

  • Change the maximum size of the JVM heap to 1024 gives error

Change the maximum size of the JVM heap to 1024 gives an error.

    Environment:

    CF9
    Windows 2003 R2 Sp2 operating systems
    XEON PROCESSOR
    RAM 2 GB

After the installation of ColdFusion, one of the parameters that gets changed is:
Server settings > Java and JVM > (MB) 1024 maximum JVM heap size
ColdFusion Application service does not start with this setting. A file of errors is created in \ColdFusion9\runtime\bin\hs_err_pid1234.log (where 1234 number changes). The details of the log file are long so soon stick a sample.

Arguments for the JAVA virtual machine are:
    Java.args =-Server-Xmx1024m - Dsun.io.useCanonCaches = false - XX: MaxPermSize = 192 m - XX: + UseParallelGC-Dcoldfusion.rootDir={application.home}/... /-Dcoldfusion.libPath={application.home}/... / lib - Dcoldfusion.classPath={application.home}//lib/updates, {application. Home} /... / lib {cation.home} / app... /Gateway/lib /, {application. Home} /... / wwwroot/Web-INF/Flex/Jars, {application. home} /... / wwwroot/Web-INF/cfform/Jars

The JVM max 1024 m is one of the commonly recommended changes. Why change the maximum FMV of 512 m prevents ColdFusion from running?

It is indeed a strange problem. Something does not seem right/normal.

I did some digging and found a blog entry potentially useful:

    http://iamgoat.com/post/804922016/ColdFusion-application-server-wont-start-after-Windows

It looks just like your problem, but it is true, it offers a quite specific problem/solution, that may not apply.

Here's another question: are you looking in the \runtime\logs directory? The log files it may show more information on the problem, maybe before or after the time that develop these logs of PID? They may be secondary to another primary problem. Search specifically for the OutOfMemory string in the log files.

If that can't find anything, I would suggest another thought: consider changing the JAVA virtual machine. I see you are using 1.6_0_14. There are several points between it and the last _21 you can try.

Finally, a thought more to consider: since this is the Hotspot compiler which reports the error (SH in hs_err_pidnnnn.log), it is possible that the addition of a switch to turn off Hotspot, just to go beyond that, could give a different error message with perhaps more information. In the following (or the CF admin, if we in Standard mode or server), try to add - Xint.

Let us know if any help.

  • The JVM maximum heap size

I upgraded the memory in my server today from 1 GB to 4 GB.

Went to set the size of the heap max 2 GB instead of 512 MB, and CF wouldn't restart.

Manually changed the file config and is went back up to 1 GB (even a doubling of the size) and all is well.

Tried to manually edit to something greater than 1 GB, and CF server would not restart.

I did a lot of research on this and found conflicting info, etc..

East Alexander, c. Adam or anyone out there who knows the suggested/best/reasoning for setting?

There are approximately 1.3 GB limit by the JVM heap. It's one thing to 32-bit.

Send with a 64-bit JVM, then you can go higher. But Adobe only goes to support on Solaris.

If you want more, go to the company and turn additional instances.

  • the Java heap size

    Hello

I was asked to find the size of java segment of one of our environments using foglight. I was able to navigate my way to a dashboard in foglight, who seemed to have this information. But now I can't find it. I was wondering if anyone had any idea on how to find that. I also remember seeing that there are individual graphs for each host showing the segment size of java. But that would be great if we could create an overview of all the machines in such an environment, showing that information. Any suggestions on how to achieve this would be most valuable.

    Thank you!!

There are several places where you can see your application use JVM Server

When you look at the systems, the right top table shows a list of server, clicking an indication of the JVM opens the memory usage overview

If you click on the name JAVA virtual machine in the pop up it will take you to the JVM info dashboard

If you look at the dashboard server application and the selected server you can click on its icon JVM and view the pop-up of the JAVA virtual machine, you can again click on the JVM name and go to the dashboard details JVM

Before you increase the Max 6 GB heap size, it is 4 GB. After the question is change us to 6 Gb.Even after that the problem happened.

    What can we do?

How much we need to increase? (Size of RAM 20 GB, virtual memory: 6 GB, 4 processors, 70%, use of memory virtual. 50% RAM usage)

Can - I need set the Min and Max Size as 6 GB?

Is there no changes have to make space PermGem?

We are using IBM j9 VM Jdk version 1.6.0?

How can we control java class wicj took more heap? (any tool is here)

    Waiting for your answers...

    Kind regards

    Raj.

A 64-bit process cannot see that 264 bytes of memory. In practice, most operating systems limit each process to one or more less than the space available address, so that the kernel can handle 64-value which can be pointers to the kernel memory, memory of the process or memory device.

Maximum segment size of 32-bit or 64-bit JVM seems easy to determine glancing the addressable memory such as 2 ^ 32 (4GB) for 32-bit JVM and 2 ^ 64 for 64-bit JVM. Confusion starts here because you can't really put 4 GB as maximum segment size for 32-bit JVM options to the help - Xmx JVM heap. You get could not create the maximum segment size is not a valid virtual machine Java: error - Xmx. There are several reasons different segment space maximum for the FMV is less theoretical limit and vary from one operating system to another for example different in Windows, Linux and Solaris. I saw some comments on my post of 10 points on Java Heap Space about what is segment space maximum for Java or JVM 32 bit or 64 bit JVM and why Windows allows only of up to 1.6 G memory as the maximum segment etc.   See more about this in frequently asked Questions about the Java HotSpot VM

The formula I posted is a generic.    MaxPermSize may vary depending on the scope of application, number of JSP pages, classes etc contained in the request.  It may not necessarily be 1/3 or 1/4th of Max Heap which is just a starting point tuning after that we need to see how much more PermSize is necessary.  (However in your case, that PermSize adjustment is not necessary at this time because it is OOM's bunch)

  • vCloud and heap size

    Hello

    looked at this article yesterday

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1004424

I'm under ESX with vcloud 5.1 5.1. The default size of the heap 8TB refers to the space put into service or used when virtual machines are turned on? And it's a collective number - so the total number of virtual machines with 8 TB of disk not not a VM limit?

    Thank you

The limit is for all the under voltage virtual machines on a single host.

According to my experience, it has neither the service, implemented or used space - I think you can get away with a slightly higher use the limit would allow you, if you do not touch parts of the disc. Certainly, he's not only the space used, and we found that the space put into service is a good approximation to calculate when we will hit the limit.

NFS and RDM are not affected by this limit.

As far as I know, there are most certainly in VMFS5 where it is probably worse, because the block size should be 1 MB. VMFS3, you could use a block size of 8 MB and extend the limit x 8.

If someone has any info on when it would be fixed, I'd be happy to know...

    Hello

I'm new to the area of the entire animation and have a question of export format.

My project is set to 1920 x 1080 (29 seconds) and I need to export less than 100 MB for display on the web at about 1090x620px (Australian standards). The accepted formats are mpg/mp4/flv/avi/mov/wmv. Someone has any advice on the best export settings in this case?

    Thanks heaps for all help.

What do you mean by 'the Australia Standard?  1090 x 620 no standard exists to my knowledge.

The file size of 100MB for 29 seconds video online is huge, and I can't imagine any web viewer sitting around waiting 10 minutes for the 29 seconds of the video to download.  What, precisely, do you online with this file?  Wherever it is affected and who is the audience target?

In Australia, among the main companies of distribution of media TV is AdStream.  They distribute 30 second standard def TV commercials for television networks to the Quicktime H264 format.  They ask files compressed to 15000 kbps, resulting in sizes of files about 30 to 40 MB for a TVC 30 sec.  Maybe that's a good basis for your own encoding, according to what the goal is.

But, as I mentioned earlier, it is strictly for viewing online, I would aim to keep the size of your much smaller file - 10 MB max.

  • Max of the Instance size?

    Hey all,.

Nobody knows where and how you set the size the instance process max? I created an object of BPM with a string attribute. I then created a quick presentation so that I could cut and spent an xml document in the text box and submit the form. When I submit the form, I get the following error:

Caused by: error in executing for the process execution engine.
Caused by: Max size exceeded instance.
Current size is 23461, while the maximum size is 16384.

My code seems to work very well with a small xml document. Any ideas would be very appreciated.

    Thank you
    Graham

    Hi Graham,

In the Studio, you can change the size of the max instance by going to the project Navigator-> right mouse tab by clicking on the project->, click 'Preferences of engine'-> with the 'Engine' category selected in the upper left corner click on the tab 'Advanced' in the upper middle part of the dialog box-> change the value in the field 'maximum size of the Instance.

There is a similar setting on the company, you need to change before starting the deployment of the project for this.

You will get a warning message if you did too big ("the amount of memory used to store the instance in memory (maximum size of instance * cache size) must be less than half the maximum JVM heap size"). If you see this error, remove your calculator and click on the 'Détails' tab (to the right of the "Advanced" tab "you clicked right on"). Note the "Maximum JVM Heap Size" (usually 256 MB). For example, if you change the size of the instance in the "Advanced" tab from 16 KB to 32 KB, you can change the setting of "Cache of Instances" of 5000 to 2500.

    Hope this helps,
    Dan
