Hello

Yes, the new laptops support nearly all commercially available solid player. Evo and Samsung Pro are popular models these days. Samsung has also have use for the migration from the old hard drive to the solid disk.

  • My g56 laptop is compatible with the ssd upgrade

I want to spend my hard drive on my G56 laptop to an SSD. Is this possible?

Altogether. Any laptop computer or any other that uses a SATA hard drive can work with and benefit from a SATA SSD.

Ideally, I need the number of entire model, but here is what I think is your Service Manual:

    Manual

For installation instructions, see page 37. The best and easiest way to do is to use cloning software and a usb Kit of SATA external drive to copy all the contents of the existing on the SSD drive. This is why you must get an SSD at least as large as the amount of data on the drive already more than 20% for comfort. For most people that means getting at least an SSD 240 or 256 and preference a SSD of 500 or 512.

A 512 GB SSD will put will cost you at least $315 and a 256 will be around $165. Here's a good 256 on newegg.com:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820147248

This is the type of SSD, I have my own laptop. You can pair it with a laptop computer upgrade kit which includes the adapter cable.

  • HP Pavillion DV6700: Is my HP Pavilion DV6700 Compatible with SSD?

I would like to know if my HP laptop is compatible with SSDS. An Internet search turns postings that say that it is possible and other thay say my PC is not compatible with SSDS.

Here is some info on my installation.

My PC is a HP Pavilion DV6700 CTO Entertainment Notebook
    I am running Windows 7
The PC came with Windows Vista

The BIOS is Hewlett - Packard l58 2008-06-16
The processor is Intel Core Duo CPU T7500 to 2.20 GHz, 2201 Mhz, 2 carrots, 2 logical processors

The new SSD is a Samsung SSD of 850 EVO.

    (1) my PC is compatible with SSDS?

    (2) are there updates the BIOS or the settings of the software that I need to know?

    Thanks for any advice.

Yes, it is a fully native SATA (ahci) system and an SSD works perfectly. With Windows 7 operating system will know it is a SSD and activate the TRIM and other optimizations to the SSD. It will be a version SATA slower that curent models but you still benefit greatly from an SSD. You must update the BIOS on this model, but not because of the SSD. There isn't quite enough important updates BIOS for this model which correct some problems of initial material as the fan operation and resume the suspension.
