The installation of SP2 results in MULTIPROCESSOR_CONFIGURATION_NOT_SUPPORTED

I have 2 3.4 GHz Xeon, which worked perfectly on XP, Vista and Vista x 64.  Currently, the machine is Vista x 64.  Last night, I installed SP2 and now the machine will not boot in any mode (normal, safe) with two active processors.  The error is MULTIPROCESSOR_CONFIGURATION_NOT_SUPPORTED.  When you try to start in safe mode, loading stops at crcdisk.sys.

Now the second processor is off, but I hope there is something I can do to solve this problem, because it slows down the machine a lot.

[update 11/18/2010] The beta is over. There is a workaround Vista KB and you should automatically get via WU.  There is and there will be no Win7 / Server 2008 R2 workaround KB.

Thanks you your cooperation in this effort so far.  We have reached a point where we would like to distribute very limited "beta" fix to work around the scenario of errata Intel (generally one package) so the scenario of slightly incompatible processors (always multi-package).  Temporary test package to make sure that what we think will fix this scenario, it is a good faith, actually going.  Please email me if you are interested in taking it for a spin.

  • Bad Windows product key during the installation of SP2

Hi all, I have reinstalled windows XP.
When I try to update SP2 to the system, mircrosoft told me that I do not use a product key.

Then I followed the instructoin to download a tool of KeyUpdate and I put the product key in my laptop, it saids is not the correct key for windows I use.
On-site product keys to compare, it says:

    OS version: Windows XP Professional
    Manufacturer: TOSHIBA
    Model: Satellite M60
    Product key: *-*-*-*-P6R2Y

It shows the make and model.
However, I use a Windows Xp Home Edition and this CD key is fine with *-*-*-*-Q6JWG.
And the product key for my laptop is fine with *-*-*-*-GCFKM.

Then I download the Windows product key update tool and put in both the product key on the CD and laptop.
Two of them doesn't work. I want to know how can I update the Service Pack for my windows. Can anyone help? THX!

What can I do for this? THX!

    Hello

I read a few threads about similar problems with the BONE key and the key change has always helped
Sometimes, Microsoft rates the key of the image as incorrect or not valid. Why? I don't know... it's Microsoft you know ;)

Fact is that the key on the cover of the CD can only be used to activate the software Microsoft Works or OneNote installed on the laptop. The key is not responsible for the Windows operating system.
The key that could be used with the Win operating system is placed at the bottom of the unit.

Well, according to your message you used this key and now I m a bit confused
I think you should make a call to the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country to clear this problem

  • The installation of Vista Service Pack 2 failed

I had been facing a blue screen often enough lately when I downloaded the SP2. Windows has responded by "Windows can check the bluescreen the next time u log" but he wouldn't do anything.

After downloading steps 1 and 2 were full. Step 3 0% would come the blue screen and the system will re-start. After that restart againit seems to 0%. So I chose, at the next restart, Mode without failure. Stage 3 took about an hour to reach 100%.

And then he said that SP2 has been installed. Windows come back back change.

Now, everything's fine. no problem at all. the system is normal.
Only problem is that I don't get the option to install SP2 again.
View these latest updates, he said SP2 failed.

And I fear the same blue screen appear again if I somehow managed to get their hands on SP2.

Aid to the blue screen and retrieve SP2.

Yes, you must install SP1... even just because SP1 is a sine qua non for the installation of SP2.

  • How to downgrade a WinXP SP3 installation to SP2 preinstalled?

    Hello

We have a requirement to downgrade PC a Windows XP Service Pack 2 client: they are all running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, but this was the OS version preinstalled on the PC when purchased, then the service pack cannot be removed by the usual methods.

The computers need to be downgraded to SP2 due to a conflict between custom software that requires that the client on machines and some of the features of SP3.  Obviously, when I try to run an installation of SP2, the PC detects that it is a previous service pack and that he abandon the installation.

Is it possible to make the PC accept the installation of SP2, even if it is not running SP3?

  • installation of SP2 removes feature "tablet".

When you install SP2 on my HP Pavilion tx1419nr tablet pc, it deletes the Tablet and touchscreen feature.  HP says to stick with SP1 and not MS update.  I have already deleted and made a recovery and tried again to install SP2, but nothing helped.  Earlier, I did a restore prior to the installation of SP2 and have the function to return.  Should I update to SP2?... will I have problems later if I'm not?... I won't MS support?  This machine has been problematic from the beginning with this and my warranty period will soon be at an end.

  • Satellite P20 - formatting drive HARD and the installation of Windows XP Sp2

    Hello world

Beforehand, I want to thank you for taking the time to help me with my questions.

Due to system problems I'm trying to re - install Windows XP SP2.

Based on the installation process, I have two questions:

    1. when I start the PC, the operating system Windows XP installation CD in the CD drive, I am unable to run it directly. Instead the old operating system (which I want to remove) starts. Is there a specific key in the Toshiba P20 notebook that runs the CD automatically? I understand that when the Windows XP installation CD to run it gives me the option to format the HARD drive.

    2. If I want to format the HARD disk directly, what is the best way to do this?

Once again, thank you very much for the help

    Best regards

    Q.

    Hello

I assume that you have the original CD of Microsoft Windows XP.
To install a new OS, you must start on this CD.

Insert the CD and after laptop starting immediately press the F12 key.
This will enable the Startup menu, and then you may choose the CD/DVD drive as the boot source.

    As to question 2;
During the installation of XP Setup will ask you the HARD drive formatting. Simply to choose this option and the HARD drive will be formatted.

    Good bye

  • The installation of Vista SP2 broke my computer

I've lived in innumerable discussions on this site and many others to solve this problem the Vista SP2 has caused my computer to have. I have a Toshiba with Vista x 64 Home Premium computer and after several attempts failed to download SP2 months ago, I tried last night and after that he was 100% and restarted my computer it actually ruined my computer to be useful. I don't have a vista disc but a recovery partition. I already tried to use the restore point created by vista before installing SP2, but of course since it is vista this restore point fails and I have created several others before, but as if by magic, they are not put at my disposal. What is even more galling it broke my partition Ubuntu separate to be able load as well which makes absolutely no sense.

I get the same error again and again as hundreds of others after SP2 installation on the black screen: ! 0xc0190036! 3029/89361 (dsound.dll) , I found a solution involving the use of partitions recovery tools command prompt to use this code:

    C:
    CD windows
    CD system32
    faultrep.dll.old Ren faultrep.dll
    output

now, it worked the first time during this first stop in 1316/89361 on the startup process when he stopped to faultrep.dll, then of course another stop to dsound.dll happened and I tried the same thing, as advised in a support forum and it worked in the command prompt, but loading at startup it will pass fine faultrep since the fix but will not pass the dsound.dll portion.

I ran a test of memory and a hard drive and it is absolutely not she. It was absolutely the installation of Vista SP2 all screwing.

A lot of people with this problem have been very well when they could use their restore point, but of course vista is still inconsistent and would not allow me to restore my computer so now I have a $1200 thanks to the crap service Pack2 weight. I can log on to the recovery tools command prompt and open notepad.exe and file open to view my computers content together intact so much, I would like to know a solution for this problem. I also found a command line to uninstall SP2 with high fees, but because I can not connect via the mode without failure of all or the safe mode with command prompt, how am I supposed to use the instructions to uninstall sp2 via command prompt?

Any help would be greatly appreciated since windows makes my computer a waste of money.

The page I used to solve problems has been directly for the support site for windows and for exactly the same problem I have but he did nothing. http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/975430 is the link, I tried method 1 is the system restore and that has failed, because it fails just about my only point that shows that I did much more than restoration. Method 2 is to rename the file that stops the boot process, who worked for the first file but not the second. Method 3 is the startup repair that does not work.
