The MOBO will support an upgrade of the power supply

I want to buy an ASUS GeForce GT 430, but it requires a power of 300w.  The motherboard in the CQ5320F will support the upgrade of the power supply without frying the MOBO?  The original PSU was a 250w.

Thank you.

Bill

My HPm8100e has the same card, but it is rev is Narra2. I installed an XFX HD5670 and a Rosewill 530W.

My concern is with the connector that the 750-116 uses to the optical drive. Looks like the kind of connector you see go to a laptop, DVD player. (It of really small and is marked P5)  I have a spare part HP 460W PSU I could use, but it is not a connector that would work. Optical drives are still a thing? Wow! Any ways OP. On these new machines. HP uses a slim with an owner drive

Connector for it. You won't find it on the other PSU. You will have to abandon the drive if you replace the stock PSU.

It's a high-end desktop PC.  No doubt he will come with an ATX PSU with 5VDC, 12VDC and 3.3Vdc output rails.  I'm not familiar with the Interior of your PC, so I'll give you two General configurations of PSU layout.

    1. design intermediary such as PC Power & Cooling with one or two 80 mm fans to expel air through the PSU.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817341011

2 down-draft design as Cosair 450VX with a 120 mm or more huge blowing fan case in the heat sink and the motherboard of the PSU.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817139003

If the power supply is at the top, back or side of the PC, then a power supply down-project will do a better job to remove heat from the PC.  If the power supply is in the middle of the PC, then go with an intermediate design.  This design will generate more noise at higher load, since the smallest fan should turn more quickly to transport the same amount of air in a 150 mm or 120 mm fan.

Looking for a nominal 80% efficiency POWER supply.  Detachable power cable is a bonus to maximize the air flow inside the PC.  Make sure the power supply is delivered with the right type of power connector to drive you GPU.  All modern units of quality with 20 + 4 and 4 + 4 key cards.  If you do not plan to run graphic dual with a high range GPU, so it doesn't matter what quality 80 watter 380 power SUPPLY Antec, Corsair, Enermax and Seasonic PSU will be enough.  You will need to back up POWER supply to 450-550W, if you run two graphics cards high-end.

A good 450W PSU is a good compromise because it is more effective when the PC is idle and has enough power to run two GPUS.  If you want to save $ on electricity, then get a smaller power supply (range 300-350W) because these units reach the level of efficiency of 80% around release of 65 to 70 watts.

    Hello

Motherboard might not be properly installed or has problems - easy to miss a rider or
    any other connection as well.

Old battery? Unplug the power to the computer - remove the battery and clean the contacts with a pencil
eraser (do not use this, if your battery is fine slots - just clean up the edges of the knife which fit in)
them and be careful). Batteries are old, or it could be a problem with the computer.
Check with the support of the machine system, and many of them have on line forums.

New Lithium-Ion type battery usually last longer if you do not unload then less than 30%

  • The upgrade of the power supply.

I recently bought a vido GTX580 and discovered after I got that my wimpy 250 watt power supply will not manage it. The card requires at least a power of 600W at 42 amps on the 12V rails. The card must also 8-pin and a 6 'PCI Express' connectors from the power supply. Could someone recommend a diet that works with my hp P6774Y desktop computer? Also, it is quite easy to replace?  Thank you!

Thanks to all who responded!  I just got back from my local Best Buy store, and they had an 850 Watt Thermaltake 'Black Widow' food on sale for $100,00 and I bought. After reading the comment by wb2001 about the depth of power supply, I'm a little worried about that, but I don't know until what I opened the box (the physical dimensions are not printed on the box) and try to mount it. Wish me luck!  :-)

    Thanks again!

    Be, welcome to the forum.

Because the computer is more than 8 years old, it is difficult to say which component has failed.  Open the box and give it a thorough cleaning.  Then, make sure that all components are installed and the power supply cord is free of defects.  Here's a guide for boot-up/shutdown/power problems.  Try what they say see if anyone of them help.

Frankly, it may simply be time to buy a new computer.  You'd be amazed at how one faster cheaper computers will be.  Here is a that would be great just as configured.  It has a processor AMD Quad-Core (2.7 GHz), 6 GB of memory and the OS Win 7 64 bit.  You can buy a monitor, too.

    Hello

I don't foresee any problems with your choices.

Relatives on the slot PCI-E x 16 must be vacant.  Examine the characteristics of the motherboard.

These "how-to" HP articles should be useful.

TIP: Unlock and slide the optical drive forward before you remove and install the power supply. This helps facilitate the removal and installation of the power supply, but it is not mandatory.

  • The power supply for Dell Precision Workstation upgrade

Recently, I posted a question regarding the upgrade of that food to a XPS 8700 and it seems that I can use ATX power supplies and replace as necessary to these computers. But now I am also thinking of dell precision workstations, because I want to have a few relatively high-performance computing done on my system, what it seems as a workstation would be better, as the work of Dell Precision T1700 Mini Tower. But I can't understand anything on the question of whether I can pass the integrated power supply so that it exceed 700w. Thus,.

    (1) any reflection on the power supply upgrade, whether possible?

    (2) are there jobs integrated with a high (greater than 700watts) power?

    (3) in the future, if I wanted to know if I could make these upgrades to other Dell machines, where can I find out about this?

    Hi Daniel191919,

Yes, most power supplies from Dell can be improved with standard parts. But honestly, the easiest would be to get a precise work with the PSU W 1100 high range.

  • How to change the power supply to the CD/DVD drive so that it is disabled by default?

When running on battery I often use the icon 'Remove hardware safely' XP to 'unplug' the carpet * CD/DVD drive for Safe some battery life. (Does?) I use Fn + Tab to bring back to life. I wonder if there is a way to make my boot Notebook (M400) with the power supply to the reader off by default. Hello, Robert

If you see the start page, you will see that this support forum is not a type of support Toshiba directly but forum users. But you're not alone and many users expect that a Toshiba support team sit in the office and before writing the answers.

In any case, there are many users of Toshiba laptops with very good knowledge and also amateurs who are trying to help the other guys in different problems and also to share own experience.

Professionalism is not the forum but action when you need help because of physical damage or something similar. If you need assistance and competent answers each authorized partner must be able to provide the info you need. But please don t mixture and Toshiba service partner because it is not the same.

In any case, I found the info you can use additional (second battery expansion) and it takes batteries with PA3510U-1BAL, PA3510U-1BRL room numbers. I can't tell you how much it costs, but you will find only using Google.

Back to your first question: if I understand you just want to save more power and because of this, you want to sign out ODD. It's a nice idea, but you have clearly misunderstood something. "Safely Remove Hardware option is there to help the operating system and and say this material, a part will be removed and don t exist anymore, but it does not physically the disconnection of any other material."

If you need more power use a second battery and enjoy your life.

If you have any other questions you are welcome. A lot of users here M400 and I hope in the future that some of them will participate in a little more.

    Good day! :)

  • Replace the power supply, computer does not turn on

I had a Seasonic SS 560 KM power supply for my HP Pav e9280t.  I removed the old power supply while keeping the power cable is plugged in.  Then replaced each power cables one at a time in the new power supply and finally he attached to the tower.

Now when I try to turn on your computer, it just boots barely upward.  I can hear the fans kick on for a second or two, then everything just stops.

Since I replaced the cables one at a time I don't think I missed anything; MoBo, Fan of MoBo, 1 optical drive, disk HARD 2 and 1GPU.  The tower is open and I can see the fan, the fan GPU MoBo and PSU fan all hang on one second so that they get the right power?

I must have missed something or possibly faulty PSU?  Any help will be appreciated.

Hello Chadow86, it is possible to the new power supply may be faulty. I would check double all the connectors again.

Since you mentioned the fan to the motherboard, it would not be necessary to unplug the CPU fan when you changed the power supply. The CPU fan power source comes from the motherboard and not directly from the power supply. I don't know what fan on the motherboard you are talking about.

I watched the specifications and photos of the new power supply. It is a modular design. I would check the cables connected to the power supply to make sure that they are in the correct connectors.

If the system still does not start, the cause could be a new power supply faulty.

    I hope this helps.

    !. I have lost the power cable and bought an expensive one online step (model: PA-1650-02 c. input 100-240v 1.5 put out a(1,5A) 18.5V 3. 5 = a)

When I first plugg cord battery charge light came on the balance, then he started to come on and outside.

now its completely off, even with the power cord plugged in. on the lower right part of the screen its showing that cord is connected to the power supply and the battery is fully charged, but as soon as I unplugg the power cord or remove the computer cut right away.

the second problem is that the left mouse botton does not work, the work aside right very well. I went in the proprties to put it right, click on to, but who does not work either. I've updated the drivers but still nothing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi aloum,.

    (a) what kind of mouse you are using?

    (b) the left button of the mouse seems to be stuck or it does not meet the click? This only happens with certain applications?

Step 1: Test the mouse on another computer or another mouse on the test computer

To determine whether the mouse or the computer is defective, follow these steps:

    1. test the mouse in question on a system that works, you know. If the problem appears to follow the mouse, you may need to return or replace the mouse.

2 test a mouse you know is working on the computer in question. If the problem seems to stay on the computer, then the problem is most likely related to the software.

In regard to the battery not holding charge

Battery problems are often associated with the battery itself. If you encounter this problem, contact your mobile PC manufacturer. If you purchased the battery separately from the notebook computer, contact the manufacturer of the battery.

  • Replace the power supply on my m9340f

    Hello

I own a Pavilion Elite m9340f and I need to replace the power supply (it has the original), because the power on button failure, which I did research on forums and the solution replaces the power supply (psu led always on, for example).

But I need to know exactly what kind of food I buy (amp, voltage, PIN number, dimensions, etc.) because I need help on the specifications.

I'm not planning to upgrade the motherboard the case, original hp. I read in another post something on the power restriction and benicia supporting more than 450 watts power supply motherboard. I find this absurd information, because components draw necessary power from the PSU without worrying if it's 350 or 700 watts. So is one of the things that I need to be confirmed if there is restriction of power.

    Thanks in advance,

    Prince of Jeronimo Ramos

    Jeronimo, welcome to the forum.

I believe that any standard ATX PSU must be inserted into the case.  I like Corsair and OCZ.  They are excellent manufacturers.  I suggest to measure the PSU existing and comparing measures to whichever you choose.  As far as I know, there is no restriction on the power.  I did this for a long time.  More than 550W to 600W in your computer is not necessary, however.

    Hello

There is a small metal tab inside (guts) on some models of PC HP adds stability to food. You'll have to push the tab down to get food out.  The link below will show this tab.

How to replace a power supply.

How to replace a video card.

Corsair power supply (psu) I used can be mounted with the fan facing upwards or downwards depending on where fresh air is available from. Some PC cabinets have mesh ventilation where the PSU Monte so the fan should face the ventilation mesh so that fresh air can be brought into the power supply and then exhausted at the rear. Some HP computers have slots to air ventilation through the upper edges of the flanks and in this case, the PSU is mounted to the top fan. Otherwise, the Assembly of the fan should be such that the PSU will draw air from inside the Cabinet.

    Hello everyone

    It's almost a year since I have TOSHIBA L750-12 model q PSK2YE-05P00RPL.
Since the beginning, I noticed strange shares: when the battery becomes low at 10% and I plug the power supply everything starts to work slowly (for example I can see frames when using the webcam)
also, web sites load very slowly or not at all. It's doing my work on laptop almost impossible.
When this problem occurs, there are a few bugs in Event Viewer:

    Event 37, kernel-processor-Power
"The speed of the CPU 0 in group 0 is restricted by the system firmware. The processor is in this state of reduced performance for 71 seconds since the last report. »

I thought it was the power supply problem or motherboard to power so I sent the laptop to the service. Technical support only changed the BIOS to version 3.60 [there is not an another atm version] and he has not solved anything.
I searched the internet and I found that this failure can occur because of the Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology option, but unfortunately I can not disable it in the BIOS.

I read that there was problem simillar with for example Portege R835-P84 and new BIOS helped and solved this.

    Please help :(

    PS Sorry for my English.

I also imagine that new and modified BIOS can help with this, but if Toshiba doesn't offer it there is nothing you can do, especially with the SpeedStep technology options.
