  After finding the values of the parameters in the formula of editing, I need to replace the names of parameters by actual values found by the algorithm of editing.

  For example in the screenshot below, I need to replace a, b, c by actual values (e.g. 2.346878,-12.4589 8.0012) in order to use this formula to solve a nonlinear equation.

  Transform the string to byte array formula seems to be quite dufficult because replacements have different sizes (e.g. an having to be replaced by 2.346878).

  Is there a smart solution to such a problem.

• Analysis tool ALM to drop the names of parameters

  We use ALM (12.20) analytical tools to create reports of test cases and test steps details.  When we run the reports, all the parameter names in the test steps (e.g. >) are missing and only "<>" shows where is the name of the parameter.

• Oracle RAC 10 g, is it possible different version of the OS

  We have two-node Oracle RAC 10 g on Red hat 2 4. Now, the plan is to add a new node to the existing Oracle RAC. The new node is Redhat 5.4.
  is it possible to add this node to the existing Oracle RAC.
  
  The only difference is the version of the OS, existing installation is Redhat 4 and new node with Redhat 5.

  Documentation Oracle says the following:

  Oracle Clusterware and Oracle RAC do not support heterogeneous platforms in the same cluster. For example, you cannot have a node in the cluster that is running Oracle Linux and another node in the cluster, even under UNIX Solaris. All nodes must be running the same operating system; in other words, they must be compatible to the binary format. Oracle RAC does not support machines with chips different architectures in the same cluster. However, you can have machines of sizes and at different speeds in the same cluster.

  The Oracle Clusterware is designed to perform a node eviction by removing one or more nodes in the cluster if a critical problem is detected.  A critical problem could be a node does not not by a heartbeat of network, a node does not by a heartbeat of disc, a machine hooked or severely degraded, deprivation of resources OS (IE high use of the processor, memory shortage/Swapping, queue/executed load medium high) or an ocssd.bin process hanging.

  For example,.

  Oracle Clusterware is based on the files of voting accessibility. If a node in the cluster cannot access the majority of the files of voting, the node (s) to which it applies is (are)

  immediately removed from the cluster (expelled / closed).

  This expulsion of node is intended to maintain the overall health of the cluster by removing members wrong (in other words, in order to avoid "split brain" situations, as well as data corruption).

  Note: From 11.2.0.2 RAC (or if you're on Exadata), expulsion of node may not actually reboot the machine.  It's what we call a restart without rebooting.  In this case, we reboot most of the clusterware battery to see if that solves the unhealthy node.

  Are you logged in as owner of these tables? Otherwise (and it seems that you're not), you have privileges on these table? If you do, use:

  SELECT  OWNER,
          TABLE_NAME
    FROM  ALL_TAB_COLUMNS
    WHERE COLUMN_NAME = 'DESIGNATION'
  / 
  

  If you don't have privileges, but you can choose from DBA_TAB_COLUMNS, use:

  SELECT  OWNER,
          TABLE_NAME
    FROM  DBA_TAB_COLUMNS
    WHERE COLUMN_NAME = 'DESIGNATION'
  / 
  

  Otherwise ask your DBA to run it.

  The command

  ALTER SYSTEM SET AUDIT_SYS_OPERATIONS = TRUE scope=SPFILE SID='*' ;
  

  is the syntax. However, the CCR using a SPFILE the ' SID ='* ' "specification is the default value." IF you want to change a setting for the local (for example PROD1) instance to which you are connected to, specify SID = "PROD1";
  The documentation states that if you specify a remote instance (for example PROD2) Oracle changes the value in the memory on the remote instance.

  I spent reviewing aid to create the order in srvrmgr, it does not give the full name and description as parameters for the creation of subsystem. However, as you noted these settings are available for creating components definition:

  In this case I suggest that allows you to create a ticket on My Oracle Support to confirm this srvrmgr does not support the creation of a new subsystem with the full name and description settings and request an enhancement for these settings include request in create statement for new subsystems when using srvrmgr.

• Migration Oracle RAC to the new data center

  Hi all

  We are 'legacy' Oracle 11 G RAC cluster from another company and I am looking for a way to migrate with the minimum of downtime. Our team has no CARS, nor database administrator Oracle also experience.

  We intend to test the migration by cloning the environment a few weeks before and just see if everything is OK.

  Question is, what is the best way to migrate this RAC cluster and it's data to a new data center? Reinstallation of the operating system (Linux) and recreate the RAC cluster are not an option I want to examine.

  For example, in the land of SQL Server, we can use sending newspapers or replication to keep a copy of the database in the new data center as close as possible direct database (data-wise). Date of commissioning, we stop the direct instance, run last restore log or something else, then set up the databases on the new data center.

  Data Guard. It is the name of "log shipping" feature Oracle. It's probably closer to always on SQL Server availability groups, except that the Oracle database is a large group.

  I speak not Active Data Guard which is an extra cost that gives options on top of Data Guard.
