The number of cores CUDA makes a big difference in performance for first?

Hi all

After reading all the blogs from Adobe on the increase in performance with a GPU that has available CUDA, I couldn't find a reference to the number of cores is optimal. There, looking graphics cards from NVIDIA 970 and 980's to be precise, there is a # wildly different CUDA cores depending on the configuration of the card. Some I've seen with less than 1000 CUDA cores vs some with over 2,500.

Any information out there that relates to this?

Thank you!

Is based on the media you are working with. 1080 media normally requires not much more than a 980GTX card, unless delays are complex to allocate GPU accelerated effects. A card 960GTX or 970GTX are normally more than enough for 1080 media and most workflows. When you arrive at the media over 4K then you want the card 980Ti ideally. The 970GTX and the 980GTX will handle 4K media ok but not as well as the 980Ti. If the Publisher is using as well other apps like Davinci Resolve, then you will definitely want the 980Ti and perhaps the map of Titan X. The Titan X card but is not required for Adobe since none of the Adobe applications to date have used even the 6 GB of vram on the map of 980Ti.

  • PowerCLI - get the number of cores per processor and number of Sockets

    Greetings,

    We are responsible to give a list of all our virtual machines with their host name, the number of CPUs, the BONES and the number of cores per processor for verification.

    I immediately said that this would not be a problem with PowerCLI. However I seem to have more trouble with it than expected.

    Get the number of CPUS is not a problem, but the time wherever I want to divide the number of cores and the number of sockets, it seems to hit a dead end.

    I found the following entries of the community concerned:

    Re: vSphere 5. Casings of vCPU and cores per CPU (PowerCLI) bug

    Machine virtual access avancΘs | VMware vSphere Blog - VMware Blogs

    Parameters to retrieve and set Advanced Configuration (VMX) VM

    But neither seemed to give me the right input. The advanced configuration settings do not appear to contain the number of cores/sockets and Get-View and Get - VM normal controls do not seem to differentiate between carrots and the power outlets and just give the number of processors.

    Because we need these settings for a check I doubt I'm the first to need this information. Does anyone have an idea how to get this information?

    Please note that it is the number of cores and casings of a VM, not an ESXi host.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Y at - it a big difference in AE CC/first CC R9 290 x with GTX980?

    Hello. Y at - there a big difference between the Radeon R9 290 x and GTX980 in after effects CC/first CC so I want to use Cinema 4 d for 3D tasks? The Radeon is cheaper and its bandwidth memory of 512 bits, it can handle 2 x more data memory than 980. Someone told me before that the nVidia cards get better results for first and AE but I assure you.

    Thanks for help

    NVIDIA cards are about 2 x as well as AMD cards now since CL opened in Adobe still significantly late by Cuda. Do not get an AMD card at this stage. BTW the Raytracer in AE is Nvidia only if use you it again. It is the only GPU in AE but rarely used its acceleration. C4D does not use the GPU acceleration unless you get a 3rd party like octane number converter. Is it based however Nvidia if you need a card Nvidia if you get Octane.

  • What might explain the difference in performance for .exe and .app files?

    So I have a projector MAC of my file on my mac laptop and it runs great, the animations fluid and play FLV...  I have exactly the same file of projector that runs fine on windows desktop computers, but on the computer it chuggs windows laptop and stutters.  No idea why?

    The laptop has Flash player 10, and the activity monitor uses only 26% of its memory resources.  Any other ideas why it would work on a portable MAC but not on a windows?

    Thanks for your help,

    If it is an application, foot, update of Flash so that you can export to Flash 11.4. When you use applications always export to the most recent flash and runtime player.

    You need to explain a bit about your project in order to obtain advice on how to optimize it. Without knowing what your project is done in detailed ways, it is as good as a mechanic trying to fix your car without seeing, on the phone. He can say that you need to change your oil every 5000 and battery every 5 years, but it's about under the generic name I can get.

    The Office has a plethora of RAM and CPU available, so these are more generic advice:

    • Do not make "too" at the same time. What you do greatly defines "too".
    • Use of assets (graphics, videos,...) which are in size and compressed properly so that the Flash Player doesn't have to change anything, unless necessary.
    • Activate cacheAsBitmap on all the objects on the screen which do not rotate, scale or modify alpha often. Elements of the interface, the logos and the controls are always targets.
    • Bitmaps are much faster than the vectors pixelation from image to image. If you prefer to use a large number of vectors, for those who don't rotate, scale or modify alpha, embed them in a MovieClip and check cacheAsBitmap. The vector will be a little soft, but it will make at the speed of the bitmap image.
    • Transparency by excessive boundary layer. Some people make a single image the size of the stage as a 'framework' with the transparent punched Center. Things like this cost, as each unique image rendering engine transparency must be in the calculations.
    • Dear event managers limit like ENTER_FRAME. Replace them with timers or anything that's not seek enforcement of generally useless code every single frame.
    • Limit or omit entirely masking the extent possible, because it is very expensive.
    • Sometimes setting any MovieClips wants 1-framework layered graphic export for actionscript while definition of the base class for flash.display.Sprite can give a bump in this performance of clips.
    • Make sure that you set GPU for your target public hardware acceleration, or Direct if you use Stage3D.
    • Use as much as possible of Stage3D where it makes sense.
    • Use StageVideo and MP4/H264s for videos if possible.

    I can go on and on, but you get the general idea. Limit limit limit and use best practices for optimizations. I need to know more about the nature of your animations and how much is happening at the same time give any useful information targeted.

  • 1000M, 2000M vs. 10W in a GPU makes a big difference in the life of consumption and electric battery?

    It is a question similar to one that has been asked before, but I want to just make sure.

    I'm about to pull the trigger on a Thinkpad W520 getting and I was wondering whether to get the system with an NVIDIA Quadro 1000 M graphics card or the 2000 M. the latest is a $250 upgrade, double the CUDA cores, uses 55W rather than 45W, and from what I've heard is that they are essentially the same chip, but the 2000 M is 50% more powerful than the 1000 M.

    I tried searching on these two, but I'll still have trouble deciding. It is worth the upgrade? Is energy use much more of a difference? (I don't know a lot about vs 45W 55W). It will make my system run much hotter? I probably wouldn't make a difference now, but I thought the 2000M would be more future-proof, since it is twice as powerful.

    Thank you!

  • The number of cores!

    Hello

    I just want to clarify a confution I. I bought a new laptop Aspire V5 - 571P (which I love by the way). When I bought PCWorld UK they had displayed it the form and was told that it is a dual core. When I look in Device Manager it shows as four processors. My questions are: 1 What is the difference between the heart and the processor, 2 does my laptop have a quad core?

    Thank you

    Simnix

    2 physical cores with Hyperthreading, the two hearts can handle up to four threads in parallel leading to better use of the CPU.

    Hyper-Threading
    Intel Hyper-Threading uses multi-threading technology to do a processor seem to have more hearts he has physically for the operating system and applications. The Hyper-Threading technology is used to increase performance on multi-thread tasks. The situation is more simple multithreaded multitasking user running several programs simultaneously, but there are other tasks that take advantage of Hyper-Threading technology as multimedia operations (such as transcoding, rendering, etc.), and surf the Web (loading different elements like the Flash content and images at the same time).

    The quick explanation is that all Core i7 CPUs use Hyper-Threading, then a six-core processor can handle 12 streams, a core of four handles eight rivers, and a dual-core handles four rivers. Core i5 uses Hyper-Threading technology to make a leap of dual-core CPU as a four cores, but if you have a processor Core i5 with its four true cores, there is no Hyper-Threading. For the moment, Core i5 top to 4 flow manipulation, using four real cores or two cores with Hyper-Threading technology.

  • How can I know the task manager the number of cores is enabled

    at the start of my computer says I have three nuclei activated - but my processor has four cores. How to check this by using the Task Manager

    In the Task Manager, click the performance tab. The no. graphics in the CPU usage history shows no. carrots.

    For example, I have 8 graphics, which means that I have 8 cores.

  • Set the number of cores in Fusion 3.1

    "About this Mac" told my MBP i7 has 1 processor with 2 hearts, but my VM settings page allows me to choose up to 8 cores. First of all, can you explain the difference, or point to a link that goes on this in depth? Then, should I keep the VM to 1 core or bump it up to 4?

    As your system only has one processor with two cores you should just use a carrot into the Virtual Machine as a plus, in general, probably only will degrade performance.

  • The upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit would make a big difference in photoshop CS6 performance?

    I work with CS6 in the system of windows XP 32 bit with 4 GB RAM max.  I constantly RAM problems saving or opening files.  I was told that change to a 64-bit operating system will solve these problems.  Does anyone have any advice or recommendations?  And if I choose to move from XP to Windows 7, version do I need for home, professional, or premium?

    If your computer is not particularly old and apparently has a capacity of 64-bit, I would certainly look past with a whole new 64 bit OS.

    There are those of us run Photoshop on Windows 7 x 64 with great success.

    And RAM is incredibly cheap right now.  I suggest go up to 16 GB if you can, even if we replace all the RAM you currently have.

    Something to keep in mind is that Windows 8 will be published this fall, and it will be priced at $39.95 for an upgrade (Yes, even an upgrade to XP).

    However, if you liked XP over his successors, you can hate Windows 8 again.  I already wrote a book on how to adjust and to increase Windows 8 to be a system based on the job because out of the box it is not something like its predecessors - the office is not where to start, and when find you your way to it to run what Microsoft sees as 'legacy' Win32 code, it is not yet a start button.

    If you really want to start talking about pushing the performance into the stratosphere, I can suggest a few ways to use SSD that can help you to do, but it is still expensive.

  • How to change the number of processors / cores

    I have virtual machines that I have to move periodically between 3 computers main host that I use:

    1 Intel Core 2 Quad CPU with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit - 1 processor with 4 cores

    2 Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit - 1 processor with 4 cores

    3 Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 CPU VT with Windows XP 64 bits - 1 processor with 2 hearts

    Hosts running VMWare workstation 7.

    Most of my virtual machines running XP 32 bit and have been initially created for my 3 platform.

    When I move my machines between computers I see that the parameters of the Virtual Machine for my change of processor in (for me)
    in unpredictable ways. Sometimes it shows 1 processor and gives me a choice of up to 4 cores.
    in other cases (always on a 4 base platform) 1 single processor with 1 core, in other cases, with 1 core 2 processors.

    In most cases, my freedom of choice is limited, because the selection of the number of cores is grayed out.

    When I try to make changes by editing the vmx file, I find them ineffective (no change).

    The other problem I think is that my VMs run VERY SLOWLY on my i7 with 8 GB platform!
    I have no idea if this is related to the improper setting of the number of processores / cores (I'm not able to define
    1-4-hearts and spin with settingsd 1.1 instead).

    Could someone please help me understand how:

    1. check / change the number of processors / threads on an existing virtual machine.

    2. how to set properly for an i7 processor

    Thanks in advance,

    Andrew

    1. providers that create virtual machines are in a race - they assume that customers use this version which proposes to use the virtual processors more ;-)
    For some workloads inside a virtual machine - say Oracle or other database and applications servers such that it is sometimes really good idea to use more than one virtual processor

    2. virtual machines to scale differently with more CPU than the real computers.
    Virtual machines are for host applications.
    This means that the host schedules the time CPU to each virtual machine.
    If you follow this thought that you will see that a virtual machine that uses one virtual processor has a greater chance to run then a VM with 2 virtual processors.
    A VM with 4 cores running on a host with 4 cores will spend a lot of wait time - it may work only when the host reports the application of Workstation 4 hearts are available.

    A virtual machine with only 1 vCPU will probably be able to run all the time without any waiting time.
    This is why usually with a single CPU VMs feel better to the needs of the user.

    This translates into the best practical advice: assign a CPU unless you really notice you need more.

    3. probably, you try to change the values, while the virtual machine is suspended?

    4.
    numvcpus = '8 '.
    cpuid.coresPerSocket = "4".

    We hear two processors with 4 cores of each

    numvcpus = "4".
    cpuid.coresPerSocket = "4".

    means a processors with 4 cores

    numvcpus = '2 '.
    cpuid.coresPerSocket = '1 '.

    We hear two processors with a carrot

    No effect? n ' mind that not all clients can use 2 or more processors
    For example, XP is limited in this respect.
    Some guests may also not change the number of CPUS after what they have been installed

    Hi pjvconsulting,

    There is no restriction on the number of files that you can send.

    However, for a free & buy account you cannot exceed a limit of 5 GB and 20 GB storage, respectively.

    The size of a file may not exceed 2 GB.
