the occultation 2 active direct HDDs as a safety net in case a HARD drive breaks down

I recently had a crash of HARD disk on me.  Unfortunately, he had given patients sensitive to this topic.  No worries HIPAA, I still have the HARD drive.  I would like to extract all the data off a broken HDD and transfer to HARD drive new, fresh, then destroy the old HARD disk to protect data on patients - I intend to use a flashlight to weld for her melt!  Now I have 2 HDD in my pc and want the secondary drive to overshadow the main drive in case of one or the others never decide to plant again.  How do you achieve this direct process shadow between hard drives?  ALSO, can anyone recommend extracting data at a reasonable price so I do not lose my patient data.  It is very important to maintain their record med elec.

If the data is important then http://www.krollontrack.com/data-recovery/

You can use a raid mirror array, but is not a replacement for data backups, and in certain circumstances, a defective hard drive can lead to two disks are corrupt

If you change your PC its possible the new PC cannot recognize a table that has been created on the old PC

The PC can have an embedded raid controller, or you can use disk management to create a raid array, you should know that allows you to convert dynamic disks, making it its own problems.

A quality third party Raid card will cost you around $350

Personally and having seen many problems when using raid, I have on the PC, a third-party imaging program, Acronis TI, this attitude is an image every night to a second drive. This program also features a no stop for which I have data backed up on a third backup drive.

I also run nightly backups of data to a remote site using another program

  • Together-hard drive breaks down when the resizing of the IDE

    Hi all

I'm trying to resize a thin provisioned IDE drive using the following command:

    * Set-hard drive - HDD (Get-disk hard - VM myVm) - CapacityKB (37 * 1024 * 1024) *.

However, I get the following error message when you try to do:

Invalid operation for the device '0'

The maximum size that works is 8GB (8 * 1024 * 1024) which is be the default size for the virtual Windows XP machine I created.

Execution of the order, even against a SCSI drive works fine.

I'm initially create virtual machines with a disk of 1 MB and resizing in order to reduce the time of provisioning. Someone has seen this before or know a work around? We currently lack of vSphere 4.0.

    Thanks in advance

Not sure if this is a bug or by design, it appears however that you cannot resize an IDE drive. (Interesting that you mentioned that it works up to 8GB).

One solution is to convert the drive.

  • Re: Satellite M30: error HARD drive-> 40 GB HDD modified with a 250 GB = 137 GB HARD drive?

    Hi all
I have a problem with my laptop M30-241 and the new hard drive.

After an error with my old 40 GB HARD drive, I changed HDD WD 2500BEVE 250 GB.

The correct name of the HARD drive in the bios Setup.
My bios version is 1.7 but only 137 GB of available space.

I searched for a new version of the bios, but without success.

Maybe someone can give me an opinion/advice?

    Best regards
    D.a.

Perhaps the BIOS doesn't support the 250 GB HDD it is possible given that not all HARD drive sizes are supported!
I think that the update of the BIOS (if possible) would not solve this too.

    Hello:

If you are in a hurry and want to install W7 before your recovery disks are shipped to you, you can download the version of windows 7, which has been installed on your PC and is indicated on the COA Microsoft sticker on the bottom of your PC.  For example, if windows 7 Pro came with your laptop and is indicated on your COA sticker, you can download the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of windows 7 Pro in language comes with your PC, and use the 25-character product key on your COA to activate the software.

You must use the language of the operating system that comes originally installed on the PC or the product key will not work.

You will need a program capable of burning ISO to DVD files, burning, so that the DVD is bootable DVD.

Then just go to the support for your laptop and driver page to download and install the drivers you need.

Link to all versions of W7. These are real files to Microsoft.

  • How can I reinstall Windows 8 in my laptop if the hard drive broke down?

I have a new laptop with windows 8 is installed (product key is embedded in the bios I think and no sticker license more on this subject).

    I just want to know

    1. How can I reinstall Windows 8 if the hard drive broke down

and I don't have any medium of recovery and the warranty is expired

    2. is there any media can make me reinstall my windows 8?

for example using the windows disk 8 OEM that can be brought in computer stores

I know that windows 7 can.

    3. when I use other media to reinstall windows 8 in my laptop, it will ask for the product key during the installation begins.

I'm looking for the key to the installation?

I can in the future, faced with this situation. I hope someone can help me.

    Best regards

I think most of the technicians know how to use a recovery partition, but the real problem for the recovery of Windows 8, it is each brand (oem) will need an installation disc for their particular model. We can install a Dell windows 7 cd on any PC OEM and after doing the updates, it will itself attest. With windows 8 you can even not windows to be installed on the PC if the disk you put in does not support security in the BIOS.  In other words, you need the proper (HP, Dell, etc.) model numbers version of Windows 8 recovery CD similarly be able to install it.
If you are a system integrator or building a PC for yourself I think that the normal OEM cd should work as long as you you know number OEM KEY or product key. Its the BRAND PC which will be a pain in the buttocks in the future for technicians who have to reinstall Windows 8 on a VIRGIN hard drive AGAIN.

  • Transfer the library to new MBP of old MBP with music on an external hard drive

I bought a new MBP a few months ago and have not had time to properly set up immediately. I finally get to it and have met some problems with my iTunes library transfer and re-use of my music files on an existing external drive. I always kept my music files on a separate drive in order to keep the laptop drive as empty as possible for other tasks.

    News old MBP:

    OS x 10.6.8

    iTunes 11.4

Library was on the hard drive of the MBP

Music files were on an external drive, called 'LACIE_MINI '.

    New Intel MBP:

    10.10.5 OSX

    iTunes 12.3.2.35

I copied the old iTunes library to the same location on the new MBP and he watched the iTunes. Load library very well however, even if the LACIE_MINI drive is connected to the laptop, the files cannot be located in iTunes. When looking for the location of the file under 'Get Info', it points to the correct place (file://localhost/Volumes/LACIE MINI/music //) but it won't "find" and play the audio file.

To make things a touch more confusing to me, I bought a WD MyCloud NAS with the intention that she be host store all my files music and video. My goal was to eliminate the need to always have my external plugged in when you work with iTunes. I don't know what is the reliability of this facility would be.

From there, I have a few questions:

1 when your stay with my files on my external and do not use the SIN, how I have it properly locate all the music files?

    2. who is the most reliable way to access my music? Through the plugged in external or NAS?

    3. should I do to keep my music on my external and load from there or make use of the NAS?

    Thank you

    K

I copied the old iTunes library to the same location on the new MBP

You copied into the folder full of the record of the music user account from the old Mac to the same location on the new Mac iTunes ?

I noticed that the external drive is named LACIE_MINI on old Mac.  The new Mac, in the path of the song file, he says LACIE MINI with no underscore between the words.  Is it a typing mistake in your post or the real difference?

For your other questions, a directly connected external drive is more reliable and faster, as the location of your iTunes media files.

It interprets the $false as a reference to hard drive.  I tried this:

    $temp = get-disk hard - vm $hostname | where {$_.name - eq "Disk 1"}

    Together-hard drive - HDD $temp - CapacityKB $value - confirm $false

The error I get here is different.

I then added an indicator of persistence, but he then requested a flag of data store.  I added that, and then he said: there is no positional parameter to False.

I'm starting think it that the - confirm flag is broken, but I would get a few additional entries.  Thanks for your help.

    I think you should use

    Get-disk hard - vm $hostname | where {$_.name - eq 'Disk 1'} | Together-hard drive - CapacityKB $value - confirm: $false

Here's how to pass a value to a switch parameter.

If you have a gap between the two, the cmdlet will be interpreted as a new value of the parameter ($false in this case), but he does not know what parameter value should go.

  • Bought the new computer windows 10, itunes has changed location of support for external hard drive. The music does not appear in itunes.

BOUGHT NEW COMPUTER WINDOWS 10, CHANGED ITUNES MEDIA LOCATION FOR EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE. THE MUSIC DOES NOT APPEAR ON ITUNES.

Changing the iTunes media folder location setting affects only where new additions to your library will be stored.  To use a disk external drive to store your library complete (and assuming that you have access to the original data of the library on an old computer) you must copy the iTunes folder, by default in C:\Users\username\Music, on the external drive - structure library and its records should be like this:

The hold button SHIFT DOWN when you start iTunes and when you see this message:

Click choose a library... then find and select the iTunes Library.itl in iTunes on your external drive folder.

For more information, see user turingtest2 on make a library of portable split.  You must also acquire a 2nd external drive and allows create and maintain a backup your library.

You were previously running Windows XP?

    You're still using Windows XP?

How was created the backup CD?

If you insert the CD in your CD drive and go to...
Start / Workstation... and right click on the drive
Letter it displays the directory for this drive...
the CD? If_Yes_ what are the files names which
    you do not see?

If it was just a simple data CD... you can copy.
Paste the files in a folder on your hard drive.
