The OS recovery disk

I have a HP s5310f, running Win 7/64 bit, 4 GB mem, 600 GB hd, IE8, Norton 2010. Plenty of space left on hd

I have many, many problems. Bigger is the corrupt file system

I uninstalled Roxio Creator 2010 files use Revo uninstaller. After that, my computer is so messy. Several error codes for everything I do (i.e., 0 x 80190194, 0 x 80042302, 0 x 80280006, class not registered).

I can not access all the functions in the Control Panel, cannot download all drivers or software MS, cannot connect to MS Live, I have a small red cross on the internet icon in the taskbar, etc. etc.

I ran diagnostics and everything what happened.

Went to HP, tried to do a live chat. Entered all the information, obtained in the page that says it collects system information and all I get is the status bar running and nothing else. Even after 2-3 minutes, unnecessary.

Tried to send email to Tech Spt and told me no folder on my computer.

I was told to get a new operating system recovery disc (I have lost/destroyed that I did when I bought the computer).

What I need to know is: the OS disk will correct the problems and let all the files/folders I currently like? Or do I have to restore everything? I have an offsite backup, but I don't want to use it because I don't know that it would be just to restore all the corruption too.

Help!

PS My default email is {personal content removed}

boong

Exactly what I thought. Order disk anyway, just to be on the safe side.

going to give it a shot now. Had the crossed toes.

  • Re: Satellite L300 - 1 5 - where to get the Toshiba Recovery disk?

I had Windows reinstalled on my laptop after having a problem with the BIOS (result of having windows and ubuntu on the same machine! But I know want to do a recovery disc that I forgot to do this before. I downloaded the creator of recovery disk but that you no longer have the recovery partition because they were erased when windows has been reinstalled.

Any ideas on what it is better to do?

    Thanks :)

That's what you had to do it when you bought your laptop. Now, you can get because it is no longer available on your laptop. Ubuntu installation wiped you.
    Now, you can:

1 the order [Recovery disk | https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx] Toshiba for the money
2 get windows copy the installation disc. All the drivers, you can find on the [European Toshiba driver Page | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp]

  • Satellite Pro L20 - I can identify the right recovery disk?

    Hi all

I wonder if there is a way to identify what recovery CD or DVD came with a particular laptop model?

I have a number of Toshiba laptops and it is that recently that I started to write a note that's CD/DVD with a machine.
    for example
    GMR400788EN0 goes with Satellite Pro A200 PSAE4E-03U017EN

I'm trying to figure out which CD is going with a Satellite Pro L20, PSL25E-00800CEN

    Thank you
    Ian

    Hello

Sorry, but I think that there is no way to identify which CD belongs to what laptop.
If your laptop comes with the recovery disk it should be a CD label or so on it.

Anyway, it shouldn't be a problem, and you should test if it s the right recovery disk.
Or you have so many Toshiba laptops? ;)

  • Re: Is it possible to create the current configuration of the software recovery disk?

I recently bought A350. Next to the standard software provided by Toshiba, I bought and installed other products such as Norton Internet Security, update all drivers, etc..
Is it possible to create a recovery disc on my current setup of the software?

I know the recovery disk, but it will only restore the original configuration of the software. I don't want to go through all the pain of installing other products and update all the drivers.

I have been using other software like Acronis Disk recovery, but I don't know this recovery cd created by these third party software can be used.

    Everyone has known about this?

    Hello!

Boyfriend sorry but it is not possible to create a recovery disc with the current configuration of your software. The Toshiba Recovery disk contains the factory settings and t, you can integrate additional software to the image.

If you want a picture of your laptop with your special software, you need to use another program like Acronis image. So you can make an image of your HARD drive with all your settings and software.

  • Cannot get the DV6 recovery disk to run.

    I have a Pavilion DV6 2110ea.
I just set up a new hard drive.
I wanted a new installation of the operating system without all the extras of HP. So I downloaded the correct version of Windows 7 which was pre-installed when I bought the laptop (Home Prem).
When you try to use the product key from the sticker on the computer, I get a message saying invalid code. So, I rang Microsoft who say that my code may not be correct, because it has a '0' in it and none of their codes will have a 0 or o. BUT very clearly there is a 0 in the code. They passed the ball and told me it was a problem of HP and do ring the.
I rang HP who say that it is out of warranty and because they can't give me a new code, I'll have to use the recovery disc or buy a new. No explanation of why the code that I must be wrong.
So I try it as it is now to use the original recovery disk I did to reinstall Win7 on what I already installed.
I entered the BIOS and selected it must read in the CD/DVD drive. But I can't read the disc and it starts all just keeps the machine as usual.

Hope someone does follow all that. Thank you.

    Problem solved, I'm a fool.

I hope someone can help me. I am unable to boot into windows vista 32-bit, so I downloaded the vista recovery disk and get an oxo error code what it means (thanks in advance)?

You don't give any info on what was the original problem with the computer.

You have set the Bios Setup to boot from the CD/DVD drive?

At startup, it will say press F2 or delete key to go into Bios/Setup, or maybe F12 to go to the Start Menu.

And have you tried also to tap F8 at startup and choose Safe Mode from the list of Boot Options?

Use up arrow key to do this, press on enter.

Browse your Hard Drive manufacturer's website, download software from here and test your hard drive for errors.

  • How to reinstall Vista (using the HP recovery disk) to my laptop HP that has a new hard drive

The hard drive failed on my HP laptop.  I bought a new hard drive (not HP) and loaded the HP recovery disks, but a screen will appear that says it is not compatible.  Can I use this new hard drive, or should I buy a hard drive for HP?

I looked at a few tech forums and from what I can tell, HP crashes their system you can't use hard disks of third parties.  To make a third hard drive to work (depending on the online forums), you will need to bring a technician certified in HP in order to run a utility of DMI (?) and "tattoo" the hard drive for HP use (estimated at close to $45).
I can't find a technician certified in HP in my area and Geek Squad said that they can do it more... my laptop is now an expensive paper weight, or there at - it another option (short of spending hundreds of dollars on the purchase of a new Vista + MS Office license)?

  • Error: It's not the correct recovery disks.

I replace the hard drive in the pavilion a6432f pc desktop by using the recovery cd and keep the error message: these are not the correct recovery disks. Ive checked that the AUCTION # s match of the cd recovery with SUBMISSION # on the bottom of my pc. The only option Ive been able to find online is also install another operating system.

I have a problem with that. The only other operating system, I have Windows XP and the pavilion a6432f supports Windows Vista, so there is no drivers for some of the critical components of the system.

Y at - there someone who can help me with this problem. I have not either the option of performing from the hard drive. The previous hard drive has failed and been replaced since the mfg'r. That's why I'm using the recovery cd

It is usually a problem with the BIOS that is causing the problem.  Recovery checks the BIOS to determine the model and other info before it will install to prevent recovery used on discs machine no HP or on the wrong model of HP machine.

It usually takes HP service to insert the correct information in the BIOS.

Have you ever used before recovery disks?

Any material changes other than the new HDD machine?

Windows 7 would be a nice update to the machine. Win 7 has an abundance of builtin driver support, and if necessary most Vista drivers work in Windows 7.

  • Cannot complete the reinstallation of Vista on Compaq laptop using the Compaq recovery disks. Tried to restore disk oem and new close to identical road. Errors: 0xc00000e9 and 0xc0000189 respectively

With no unusual occurrence that accompanies it, our laptop was able to start and would not initialize anything beyond a screen B & W style BACK and gave the first error (0xc0000e9) on this screen. After several unsuccessful reboots insert us the Compaq recovery disks and crossed the recovery (only full optional with such discs.) At the end of the transfer of recovery (from DVD on computer), the computer tried to restart and reported the same error message. We have seen anything past the transfer of files and B & W on the oem disk. I think the oem HD is bad. Web-surfing suggested the error was associated with a hardware failure and the DVD drive seems to work very well I bought a new HD almost identical to replace the oem version with. Both are Seagate Momentus 160 GB at 5400 RPM drives.

I re-inserted the recovery with the new installed hard drive disks and it loaded and seemed basically completely install Windows (computer is restored running several times and showed the Windows desktop with sequential programs etc. facilities.)

To restart the final success, I received an error message in the sense of "windows could not install: Please restart the installation process" and the 0xc000189 error code. I tried again and the result was identical, including the error message. In the process the emblazoned shortcut labeled sunflower administrator with "locked" below briefly appears before the above error appears above him. Navigation on the Web seems to suggest I've hit some kind of security problem that appears when an oem auto-installer is used. He was never a password of any kind on the laptop of our family, if there is one, it should be of Compaq.

It's an authentic (not stolen etc) oem new install of Windows (the laptop is only 18 months old) and I CD code on the computer but not the case in the installation me I asked for it. I don't know what you looking for installation.

I'm very confused and any help would be appreciated. Compaq is saying it's a matter of Windows of course.

    Thank you

    Frenchquarter, welcome to the forum.

I suggest that you download and install OpenOffice.  It is FREE and is open to all documents created in MS Office.  If it doesn't, at least it costs you nothing to try.

I used OpenOffice for years.  Believe me when I say that he will do everything that will make MS Office and in some cases, the better.  At least, you will have to use in the future and you'll be amazed to see how they can do it for FREE.

    Hello

I noticed the same thing on my Satellite P500, but I must say it s not a problem, it of quite normal. The computer will restart several times (10 times or more) to complete the installation.

You know that a lot of drivers/tools will be installed and some restart is required to configure everything properly.

So don t interrupt the installation of recovery, just wait a little longer and a coffee. Everything is done automatically and your laptop is reinstalled with the factory settings. :)

  • Cannot reformat using the Toshiba Recovery disk

    Hello
I'm not sure whether or not my question was published by third parties. Please let me know if someone had posted this.
    Here's my problem.

I put the recovery CD in the CD-ROM drive. Then I restart my laptop and press F12 and select boot from the CD-ROM. Then I come to a black screen where it says 'Windows 98...'

After some time, the failure message appear.

My laptop was with Windows XP and I don't know why the word 'Windows 98' appears. After failing, I try to go to the window and double-click the CD-ROM Setup and he says not can read any of the files on CD. The CD is used to reformat the laptop before.

    Is it the corrupt CD?

    Hey mate,

First of all, it would be interesting to know what laptop you have. Maybe it has been bundled with Windows 98 recovery disk I put t know.

Theoretically, it could be a problem with the CD. Try another disc and see what happens.

I can provide the same information as codes for:

There are different options to allow booting from the CD/DVD drive.

One is the C key (you have to press several times) immediately after that the laptop has been powered.

The second possibility could be the F12 key.
It would start on the screen menu and then you may choose the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.

Last but not least, you can change the boot order in the BIOS.
The reader of CD/DVD (ODD) in the first place and the gaming laptop should boot from the inserted CD, bootable automatically.
