• not visible on the ESXi LUN iSCSI hosts

  So I have a bit of a strange and hoping the community can help me to understand. In my lab at the House, I have 3 x ESXi 5.1 Build 799733 hosts x 2 guests are the same hardware (BUD Intel) and the other host an old HP flat desk. I am running CE Nexenta 3.1.3.5 on a Microserver HP which provided the iSCSI storage to HP desktop computer. The 2 new Intel NUC VMware hosts however, I am unable to get any iSCSI storage visible to them. Software iSCSI adapter is enabled, peut vmkping storage to the host and the target will appear on the static discovery tab. The configuration appears to be identical between the 2 However, the hardware is different... I have a new analysis on the host and no devices appear. Now the obvious answer is there must be a security issue on the side of Nexenta... but the 3 hosts are all part of the same group initiator. Confirmed and copied the IQN name over and over again. I still think that this is maybe a matter of Nexenta, but maybe it's something else.

  Check the vmkernel.log file contains the following information after a new analysis...

  Problem solved.

  Appears that it was a problem of connection iSCSI ports. There is only a single teddy bear in each of these hosts and allowing the port bindings vmkernel on initiator iSCSI under 'Network Configuration' result not being iSCSI target devices is not visible. Removed the vmkernel port binding and made a new analysis. Cameras then showed upward.

  Yes, you need to configure the physical switch port as a trunk and then configure the VLAN tagging on your Exchange Configuration-> Networking.

• Cannot verify the compliance of the profile on ESX 4.1 after 5 upgrade vCenter.

  We recently upgraded to version 5.0.0 623373 vCenter.  Since the upgrade, I am unable to verify compliance on my host profile that applies to my hosts ESX 4.1 U1.  This profile of the host worked fine before the upgrade to vCenter.

  When I check the conformity, the result is:

  Chess against host profile

  Host is not available for verification of compliance.

  I installed ESXi 5 on a new host and managed to create a new profile from it, apply it and check the line very well.  (I did not apply this profile to a host ESX 4.1)

  Any ideas?

  Create the profile of some hosts (maybe 4.1 or 5) version.

  Attach this profile (profile management) to all guests, where you had compliance check failure.

  If you have vCenter upgrade from 4.1 to 5 then profiles are not "compatible".

• where is the option Net.UseHwTSO host profile?

I get the error of compliance "Net.UseHwTSO options have been modified by their default values expected", but I can't find Net.UseHwTSO in the tree of the policy of home options.   Could someone tell me how this is acutally done, documentation VMwares seems to go in the circle on the subject:

  Apparently if you have guests who are not identical, but you still want to use the host profiles to configure items on a new host you can disable the device alias but they never say how.  The closest thing is to change the profile of the host and remove the sub profiles do not require you, I found, but it does not work.

  Any help with this would be greatly affect.

  Simply remove the Alias Configuration of device in the profile of the host and this error will disappear.  Yet only once if your hosts are not exactly the same.

• I share the same target iSCSI with multiple hosts?

  I have an iSCSI LUN target that appears when I discovered the storage for an ESXi host, but when I discovered the storage for another host, it does not appear.   Storage Area Network - FC and iSCSI - do not automatically appear LUN to all hosts that connect to them. This is also called masking and prevents accidental access to LUNS of the host that is not allowed access to that LUN. You must configure the storage system, access to the LUN - once you do this for the other hosts will be displayed in the list and you will be able to access all hosts logic unit number.

  No, not with the Profile Manager.

  How you deploying your company Mac?  As institutionally imagery or as BYOD devices?  If image, then the image should contain a coherent local administrator account.  If the active image also the Apple Remote Desktop or SSH, you have a method of mass, control and manage the devices.  If BYOD style, then you are out of luck that the end user is the only one with the key of the device.

  You can take a look at following JAMF Casper.  Once devices are registered, you have the possibility to create accounts (However the common method is to create an account on registration).  If you deploy a BYOD approach, you should also look into DEP program Apple (https://deploy.apple.com) as more DEP JAMF (or other MDM) is a very powerful tool for light to zero touch deployment of systems.

  I followed the instructions to http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/FDA1318A8909D02C862574510060DB62 to import the profile description of the device.

  Curiously, the import was successful for the host (and I can now access this device in the LabVIEW LVPROJ file), but it failed for the target.

  Why could this be? (There are no diagnostic messages)

  Looks like you are using NOR-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT 2.7 or later. What is you project connected to the target when you try to import the file? How are you connected to the target? What is your firewall block FTP transfers? Do you need the ability to programmatically discover slaves EtherCAT (such as DSM or using the VI of Modules Refresh)? If you just want to program the EtherCAT Slave in the LabVIEW project, import the device description files to the host is all that is needed.

• ESXI host "not in compliance" with the profile of the host

  I have a host ESXI "not in compliance" with the profile of the host cluster. Attached screenshot shows TSM, TSM - SSH message. I've seen it before and fixed by stopping local and SSH support. This time however, the message does not disappear, even when local and remote technical support. I stopped the services and value manual. Any suggestions?

  I noticed when I create a profile, I can name to what I want and I can record it just where I want or on the desktop.

  But when I applied this profile on my drain connected to AC2, the profile says Untitled. I doubled click, right-click checked the help page, but may not know how to change the name of the profile.
