The scam calls

I get calls every night overseas (Indian accent I think) asking me to log on to my computer like its been bought to their attention, we have 'pirates' trying to access information from the computer. Is it a scam?

They called all night for the past 2 weeks, so are very persistent...

Someone else do these calls?

Thank you

Hello

Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

Please see:

http://www.Microsoft.com/en-GB/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.

These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

  • Call the scam; Error message "fault had been detected between windows 7 and Chrome.»

    * Original title: is 1866 324 6719 call a call scam?

I was working in Chrome and suddenly the computer started beeping wildly and I got a message that a malfunction has been detected between windows 7 and Chrome. IT gave a number without charge 866 to call and said not to stop the computer or my operating system is compromised. And it will allow me to close the window chrome. My gut says it of a virus, but want to be sure before we do anything. Course of windows essentials security scan now.

It's a scam call caused by malicious software (which is a nuisance rather than a threat). Do not call this number and in no case give some foreign to your PC access.

  • Received Windows scam call, is the computer at risk?

My sister received a call from the scam that claims to be from Microsoft, and that his computer is in danger of being hacked etc. They told him to run a program called "Windows Event Viewer" which was done, and he showed a long list of errors. As it is, she said, she had to undergo, and they said they'd call back. She then rang me and I checked the forums and could see that it is a very common scam. They have no go as far as giving a Web site address to go on, there was talk about payment. My question is, is there a risk that running this program compromised his security somehow?

    * original title - Windows scam call *.

The Windows Event Viewer is a tool that was included in Windows almost since its inception. It allows you to examine a large number of events in the system and operating system files. Most's opinions, some are warnings, some are errors. While your installation works the way you expect, you can ignore the errors.

Launch the event viewer does not change anything in Windows.

  • The scam alerts

CAUTION: Scam phone in my view, that notice must get all users to Microsoft, as a company who asked me (but say they do not sell anything) had my mailing address & not my mailing address & my two latest computer purchases came from HP. There is a company in Los Angeles (possible ID is computer X Spot GA with a phone # of 323-522-5336) who say that they do not sell anything. "they are the authorized representative of Microsoft" and there is a serious issue w / the o/s. We ask you to go to your computer and connect with them, but I refused to do it and told them to send the info to my address of record, which was not the street address, they gave me. My phone & DSL provider has received several complaints & informed me that the "scam" is to make you leave on your desktop in order to correct the problem from Microsoft & they install a virus, they can fix for a fee. DON'T LET SOMEONE GET ON YOUR DESKTOP THAT YOU DON'T KNOW. This does not refer to your Technical Support HP, but against spam or "SPONTANEOUS" telephone scams I contacted the FTC and recommend to anyone getting a call like THIS to go to WWW.FTC.GOVor TELEPHONE THEM at 1-877-382-4357 to file a complaint. It is this type of people who are "attacking" people who are too confident and find themselves with a computer has crashed and unnecessary problems for their future. Note what has apparently been going on for a while, but the FTC needs to pressure to bring SCUM to the point of reckoning for their SCAM hobby. I have notified HP, but it is recommended that users be warned & notify no friend not warned of this problem. TKS... Warry

Thanks for the alert, as people need to be aware of this scam!

I might add who once the scammer has access to the computer for what they claim to do, your and your data is at risk of ID theft, loss of stolen credit card information and bank account.

Never, ever allow a caller where you do not have to trigger the call, to have access to your PC.

  • Beware of the scam am

    Hmm?

Microsoft does not phone calls to people - out of the blue...

at best, microsoft only responds to requests for information made by the people.

  • Someone from the Tristate MJ (not sure of the name), called, saying that it represents the widows team of Microsoft Support.

    * Original title: MJTriState

Someone from the Tristate MJ (not sure of the name), called, saying that it represents the widows team of Microsoft Support. They had followed my computer (Windows 7) and noticed problems with it because it was very slow at startup (TRUE). He said that my computer has been hacked. He gave me my product windows (OK) key and me had discovered my event log that have trouble with my printer. Then he asked permission to take over my computer and fix the problem. At this point, I hesitated.

The question is done Microsoft outsource monitoring Windows 7 computer in trouble. It seems very likely.

  • Steve Dmello scam calls

    Original title: Phishing scam

Hey everyone, I just wanted out this info after talking with the widows of Microsoft Tech. I received a phone call from a Steve Dmello (509 (464-6715 who said his name is with a company of Pegasus and asked if I gave anyone permission to clone my windows 10 program repeatedly at 21:40 the night earlier. I explained that I don't have. He indicated that I should click on the edge of windows logo and the letter R to show how many times my windows 10 had been consulted (apparently according to him through my server AT & T). He asked me if I knew how to check to see if my computer for hackers. He explained that I must download commercial software called Team Viewer. I was obviously suspicious. He has explained that he would need distance so that he could help me solve the problem. I told him I thought it was a scam and he said, ' do I look like a scam? I'm trying to help you, but you can talk to my supervisor if you wish. I said it, I'll have to call a number to check it all and of course he gave me his phone number listed above. I did a reverse phone number check and it seems to be a phone number of Seattle Wa.

Someone at - he hear of this type of scam or this supposed company?

    Thanks Phil

I've not heard of that company, some have probably here, but it was a scam. I hope that you don't have the left take control. Basically, it is a variant of that.

I know where the last call from my iphone stolen?

Not anyone here, not Apple. You can check with your operator if they used your SIM card, and you may have to get the police involved for the information about the location. If it was not your SIM card, you would not be able to.

  • is there a way to tell if the person calling me is really using an iPhone.

A person calls me a phone which, said, is an iPhone, yet when I text, my outgoing text does not appear in blue, what he does with everyone who has an iPhone. In addition, I get the text of the message undeliverable. So my questions are: 1) is there a way for me to verify that the person calling is the use of an iPhone, and 2) if indeed it is an iPhone, why the text would not delivered? Even if the person was using a droid, the text should go.

There is no way to determine what type of phone a person uses when they call you. As iMessage versus SMS is, if the person who uses an iPhone does not choose to have iMessage activated, so you would not get the opportunity to send a message as an iMessage, he would send as a normal SMS. If the message is not delivered, it could be for any number of reasons, connection problems, the lack of a SMS plan on one of the devices, etc. Can send you a SMS? If so, can answer you?

  • Sometimes when you try to click on a link, instead of the hand, I get the arrow and clicking on sending me to the scam site. How can I fix it?

This happens with many different sites, but only occasionally. I reloaded Firefox, run Norton Utilities, Malwarebyes Anti-Malware program several times. Scam sites vary, false updates of Firefox, bidding sites, a lot of different. If I wait about 30 seconds, the arrow goes to a hand and I can click to get to where I want to go. I can simply close the scam site and hand returns to the site of origin.

    Help!

    Thank you.

    Matthew

You have MyWordTool in your list of extensions. Malwarebytes should detect it.

You can try to remove it from the Add-ons Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + A to open it), category of Extensions. If this is not possible, then try to uninstall from the control panel while Firefox is closed.

You can try Malwarebytes Chameleon, which gets Malwarebytes Anti-Malware running on infected computers. Don't forget to check for definition updates after installation.

I also note that you have two extensions of Norton disabled. You may want to reactivate if you have disabled them yourself, or looking for updates if they are disabled because they are incompatible with your version of Firefox.

If the problems persist, there are other tools, you can try and forums specialized in the removal of malware. See the section "How to get rid of malware?" in the following article.

  • I need help to restore my visual voicemail that has been erased when I got the application called "which app»

I got the application called "which app ' via the app store two weeks ago and since my visual voicemail has disappeared. In talking with an associate at the apple store, they told me that that app turns your voicemail and sends it to their server, so you cannot retrieve all messages left on your phone. I reached out to my carrier and despite my deposit, delivery number reset my voicemail and other efforts, I'm still not able to retrieve all messages default.

  • waiting for AT & T, the activation call wifi

I try to activate AT & T wifi calling all in overseas and got everything and he gave me the message about the wifi calls must be activated in a few minutes, but its been over an hour and it still shows as the wifi calls are not enabled. I tried to activate several times but each time he asks only if I want to change my 911 location.

Has anyone else managed to activate AT & T wifi calling while in another country?

My guess would be that it is likley a limitation of the you are connected to the local network. Composing the WiFi only works outside the AT & home network of T if the local carrier you are roaming on allows it.

If you use only wifi now, it won't work until you are connected to an AT & T network. To initialize the service on your device, you must be connected to AT & T home network or roaming cell phone partner. You cannot configure the feature only a wifi connection.

Once you put in place, you can call only foreign wifi, but to put in place, you need a cellular connection to AT & T to set up your device and the phone number for wifi calling with AT & T.
