The thumb drive.

Is it possible to install an OS (Win7 or XP) on a thumb drive/memory stick?

Have a memory stick 64gig. It is recognized as a disk using a 3rd party boot program partitioning.

But install win7 the reader isn't here in the choice.

It has been formatted in NTFS and defined as an active player in the partitioning program.

Win7 sees regular HDs when they are formatted and active the value of this same partitioning program.

A mem-stick is not allowed to be used as C: drive?

Unfortunately, no, you must install the drive of Windows 7 or XP which is installed inside your computer.

Customers who have access to versions of client of Windows such as Windows 8.1 Enterprise volume license can use specialized USB USB keys they can install Windows on Windows called To Go.

Unfortunately, Windows Enterprise 8.1 is not available at a retailer

  • I'm trying to copy a folder of drive C: for the thumb drive.

I get the message that "this disc already contains a folder named old Docs' when the file I am trying to copy is 'Documents '.  (Old Docs was the source of the Documents, but was renamed).

The USB key actually contains a folder named old Docs?  If so, rename it to 'Old Documents' and then try to redo the copy.  I don't know why the system isn't recognizing Documents such as the name of the folder (it should if it is her name now), but if it works, then you will have accomplished your purpose of copy on the folder and the new folder will be correctly named.

If it does not create a new folder on the drive of thumb (whatever name you want) and open the Documents on your system folder, and then click Select all on the Edit menu, then CTRL + C to copy everything and then go to the new folder that you created, click it and then press Ctrl + V to paste the content in the folder.  The content of your Documents folder will now be on the USB key you want.  I would like to try opening a couple in order to ensure that the copy worked properly and you can access data (just in case).

    I hope this helps.

  • "Impossible to copy the requested resource is already in use" error message when you try to move the file to the thumb drive.

I'm going to try really hard to do this makes sense, but I don't know much about computers.  Bear with me.

Brother gave me a computer.  A graphics Nvidia GeForce 9800 inside.  Because it restored the system settings, the drivers are missing.  Can not connect this computer to the internet.

So, I went to the nvidia site and downloaded the necessary drivers on my OTHER computer, which is what I'm now on the right.  The download ends, and when I try to move the (drivers) file in the USB, I get this delicious "cannot copy xxxx that the requested resource is already in use".  It is not in use.  I can't even use it on this computer as its pilots for a graphics card that is not yet part of this computer.

What should I do to make sure I put the file with the drivers on a USB key, on the port to the other computer.

(by the way, this also occurs with a few random mp3s of the mine.  10 of the 12 tracks on a CD, for example, does copy on the USB no problem, but then two of them to come up with the error message, for no apparent reason.  Don't know if it's relevant)

Try another USB key. That one is may be damaged or failing. In the meantime, to burn the drivers on a CD - R disc (not CD - RW) to take the target machine. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

C:\Windows\system32\config\system is one of the files that make up the system registry.  Backups of the system registry files are kept in the 'C:\System Volume Information' folder under the system restore program.  Probably all you need to do is copy of registry backups in the Windows\system32\config folder.  A reinstall of windows may not be necessary.

To do this is to start your machine from a free "Live Linux" thumb drive.  You can create a startup disk Ubuntu here:

Follow the instructions of "Try me" and you should be able to copy backups of registry in place.  Windows has "Hidden doubling" the System Volume Information folder, but Linux doesn't seem to have any problems with it.  After starting from the Thumb Drive Linux, follow the instructions in the following article from part 2, step 6, using the graphical interface of Linux to copy files (right click copy, make a right click Paste) instead of the lines of command in the article.  With a little patience, you can restore the registry from a backup, and be back in operation

  • Corsair Flash Voyager GT 32 GB USB 3.0 thumb drive does not work after the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro

    Hello

Since the upgrade of my Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x 64 Windows 8 Pro x 64, my Corsair travel GT 32 GB USB 3.0 Flash USB key no longer works when plug it into my USB 3.0 port on my laptop. I get an error that the "peripheral last USB connected to the computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it." I looked for someone with a similar problem and came across this answer:

I tried the solution (method 1) on this page, however, Windows reports that it was unable to solve the problem of equipment.

Is there anything else I can try to solve this problem? The USB key works in the USB ports 2.0, and it worked in the USB 3.0 port when you run Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x 64.

  • Adobe CS6 Design Premium for the thumb cannot backup drive

I bought and downloaded successfully.  Now I want to back up in place safe.  Whenever I try to save the 4.5 GB of files, 32GB USB key, I get the following message "the element 'DesignWebPremium_CS6_LS16.dmg.zip' cannot be copied because it is too large for the size of the volume".  So I tried another drive and same thing for the thumb.  Does anyone have any info on this?

  • USB Thumb Drive (UHYBS-064GH) format/write protection fault

    Hello

    Hoping for help.

Bought a 64 b USB Thumb Drive (UHYBS-064GH), a private seller, but the point is brand new in packaging.

When I tried to copy files through him, he maxed out at comments 45Gig and seems to have caused a clerical error. I was able to remove the majority of the cases, however on 5gig of them would not remove (in that they seem to have removed, until you updated).

To counter this, I tried to "quick format", the drive (using Windows XP SP3), but the disc is write protected and I am unable to remove it.

Spoke to a friend who told me that I should try a low-level format, which tried & it seemed to work, however when I insert the USB system indicates that the drive is not formatted & I would like to format. When you click Yes, I get the error 'write protected '.

Was the question of the google machine & even tried to change registry settings, but also failed.

So I hope someone out there has a solution for me (which does not include a big hammer & some anger management)...?

Would it be possible that this USB drive is defective?
In my opinion, you should contact the merchant and must replace it with another.

  • C6280: Could not locate the printer driver base download

We have lost our ability to print on the same day as Windows 10 has been applied automatically.  The next day, I have restored our computer to Windows 7 without error, but we have lost our ability to print.  Then, I downloaded the print driver full of features, but received an error message that Setup encountered an unexpected error (code 2203) during the installation of this package.  I tried to use the two methods (USB and ethernet).    I uninstalled and reinstalled the software again, but the same problem has resulted.    I also used the "HP Print and Scan Doctor' and 'impression' Assistant and still have the same problem.  Something in the printer driver fails during installation.  I spent days looking for possible solutions.  Now I'm ready to just install a basic printer driver - but I can't find where it is on the site of HP for Windows 7 (64 bit) for the HP PhotoSmart C6280 all-in-One.  Can you help me?

    This model encrypted?

If this is not the case, how to destroy the hard drive? Where is the hard drive?

    Hi @Diane47,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support with your request to printer.

I understand that you have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer you plan to elimination and you wonder if the hard disk is encrypted and how to destroy the hard drive. I would like to help with that.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer don't have a hard drive. It contains a very small amout of memory, so it can keep in memory the printer and fax settings.

You can clear the memory by restyoring the printer back to the default values.

    1. on the printer Panel, select Setup.

    2. from the Configuration menu, select Tools.

    3. on the Tools menu, select Restore Factory Defaults.

  • is there a slide in the hard drive for hp pavilion m8013w

I want to load windows 8.1 on my current hp pavilion m8013w but, don't want to erase Vista with all my data on the current hard drive.

So I think to install a hard drive "slide in" front loading slot and on the hard disk and then move all my data of visited.

Anyone know what I should do when shopping for a slide in the hard drive.  is there a model number?

    Peace!

    Isely, welcome to the forum.

Have you run the Wizard upgrade of Windows 8 to ensure that the components of the computer are compatible with Win 8.1?  It is available in the link I have provided.

I am not sure what you mean by a hard drive "slide in".  You hear a "Personal Media Drive"?  If so, I can't find one any where.

If the computer is compatible with Win 8.1, it would be easier to buy a SATA hard drive.  You can use the FREE copy of Aomei Partion Wizard to transfer your BONES and your data.  I downloaded it to see what it will do.  It seems to be a great program.  You should read all the 'tutorials' which are provided.

Please, click on "Thumbs Up +" if I helped you and click "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

  • 8000 elite: try to boot from the hard drive

After placing a ssd, I get this notification. nothing else happens.

I checked the bios, but I noticed that I can not change the boot sequence (ssd hard drive first, the other second place) so I changed the sata cables too the ssd is the startup disk.

    someone who can help?

the ssd already has an operating system installed

Sorry, from your description, I thought you might have "migrated" Win10 from the HARD disk to the SDS, and when people do this by copying partitions, they almost always forget migrate partition, including the bootloader files.

So you did a clean install of Win10 for the SSD?

If this is the case, you might be able to fix it by running the win10 installation media startup repair.

To do this, you will need to use the link to the installation media to download Win10 and burn a DVD or create a USB key: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10

Note that when you download and build install media, the default tool corresponding to what is already installed on your PC (as in home for the House, and 64-bit to 64 - bit).  While you CAN change these settings, are NOT.  If you do, the media that results will be different and will force you to enter a NEW product code.

Then, follow these instructions to run the Startup Repair tool: Doing - Startup Repair

You may need to do this same series of steps three times.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.
