The update of the firmware on Dell KVM 2162DS

I know it's probably very easy... but I did a little research and I can't find instructions on how to Flash the firmware on a Dell KVM? I can't see the option via the Web Interface on the KVM.

I downloaded the firmware but it contains no instructions & I couldn't find info with a Google or Dell Forum search - so if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Thank you
Dan

Hey Dan,

I had some success, the two KVMs now updated.  However, I've updated via the digital 1.6.20 not the analog 1.6.3.  So make sure you have the correct version, such as digital is actually part of Racks from the list.

  • Dell XPS 15 SSD NVMe slow after updating the firmware July 2016 and papillonné CPU (Core i7)

Edit: 9/2: title change intended to reflect issues of CPU throttling and discussion (second half of the thread)

I noticed a huge performance drag after updating the firmware and drivers of my XPS 15 9550. The update took place August 4, 2016.

Performance of my usual applications (Chrome, development tools and IDE, etc.) is dramatically lower. In general, I would say that things take about 3 times as long to arrive. I checked the CPU (normal), but also memory consumption (as normal) to discover that the problem is with the SSD drive.

On this laptop: 500 GB NVMe thnsn5512gpu7 NV (toshiba). Attached are the results of a benchmark with AS SSD. All write speeds are appalling, to say the least... that explains a lot, but I have no idea how to solve this problem, and whether or not it really relates to the latest firmware + update drivers provided by Dell.

(Note: I checked the BIOS, it seems that the SSD is currently configured in RAID mode.) Never touched this option before.)

Any idea? Other affected users in a similar way. Thanks in advance.

I managed to get the performance back by going to the properties of the disc and turn off windows write cache flushing heat. The two boxes should be checked. Write speed then went to about 1400 MB/s.

  • Reference Dell T300 RAID 1 broken by the firmware update

    Hello

We have a Dell T300 with the SAS 6/iR adapter.

    We have a RAID1 with 2 x 3 TB drives (visible only 2 TB).

I have updated the firmware on the SAS adapter to the latest version available here:

and now the RAID 1 has disappeared!

We have a lot of important data on this virtual drive so any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Jerry.

    Hi Josh,.

Thanks for getting back to me. The physical connections and the disks were good and they appeared in the update controller RAID configuration. But the virtual drive RAID1 had disappeared.

I solved the problem by downgrading to an earlier version of the firmware.

If I had read the README of the first firmware upgrade page completely, I would have noticed:

The migration of the SAS 6/iR controllers PERC6 controller RAID Volumes is only supported for volumes created originally on 6/iR controllers SAS running review FW 00.25.47.00 or later version.

I was able to locate a FW version 00.20.48 here.

The executable flash.bat refused to downgrade the FW version

However, looking at the .bat files, I could see that flash.bat called xflash.bat called sasflash.exe which is a LSI utility to upgrade the firmware of the card.

I found an old manual with the arguments that sasflash.exe take here and use the switch - fwdown to wipe the card and firmware downgrade.

When the server has started upward the virtual drive was back. Phew!

Guess I'll read the Readme next time?

    Thank you for your attention,

    Jerry.

  • Update the BIOS of Dell C6100

Hello, I bought a used C6100, and as I feared is not a C6100, rather one of these customized.

Is there a way to make sure this isn't a C6100? I tried the serial number and it is not found.

I want to update BIOS and firmware BMC, one of the nodes has a bios of the 09 (eeek)

    Any comments would be great

(They have updated the bios on other nodes, so they got the bios from somewhere, but I'm afraid it's a contract between the original company and the dell and dell will not help me)

    Thank you

    Hello astroproxy

Yes, it is a DCS system. I wouldn't recommend updating the BIOS or any which firmware on the device. I suggest to use the system as-is. Unfortunately I don't have access to information on DCS systems. They were supported by specialized groups and information on them were kept in these small teams of people.

There is no path of support within Dell. The only way you will be able to get information or support on a DCS is through the dealer.

The best way to know if you have a DCS system is to enter your number of dell.com/support service. If the serial number is not then it is likely a DCS system. It is not 100% reliable, but it is the simplest method for verification.

    Thank you

  • Update for the Firmware Cluster HA

The default behavior of an update of the firmware of cluster HA is that it will update firstly the backup firewall, restart, failover to the backup, reboot and main firewall update.

Is there a possibility to upgrade a SINGLE unit in the cluster to a new version of firmware, check this new version for a few days and then after the update of the other unit?

I had a problem to upgrade from a cluster of 2 firewalls section 5.9.1.1 to 5.9.1.5. After a few hours the two firewall restarted permanently after availability of 5 minutes. Seems the best practice to check for a new version of the firmware, but I have not found a way to do this...

This is not possible with SonicWALLs, because both the SonicWALLs running must be on the same firmware. Only way to do something like that, is to break the link HA and activate one of the SonicWALLs off and by default after the test.

Try the operation again. If the problem persists, download the latest update of your service provider package and try the operation again.

BIOS, iDRAC, Lifecycle Controller firmwares are newer. I tried to upgrade from iDRAC and directly from controller (using SUU) life cycle, the same thing. haven't tried yet the OS. I want to update firmware, because she refuses to get DHCP address when you try to boot from PXE to deploy the operating system. At the same time in the controller of lifecycle, in the configuration of the network, I was able to successfully get the addresses of the DHCP server and scan the Dell FTP site for firmware updates.

  • Reference DELL Modular Disk Storage Manager cannot see MD36xxf because of the version of the firmware to high

I have a DELL MD3600f that is connected to a DELL R710. The system was all the installation and work programme, but the OS disk has become corrupted and had to be rebuilt. The system has not all backups, because it was still under construction. The problem is that a system administrator updated the Firmware on the MD3600f to the 07.80.41.60 version. According to the notes the versoin of DELL PowerVault MD Series Storage Software Resource DVD 3.0.0.18 or later must be installed before update the RAID controller firmware.

Problem is the update of the firmware is already in place and the MD storage software cannot talk to the MD3600f now because of the correspondence of Miss firmware.

No matter how lucky it is a updated software storage MD there? I tried low grade firmware, but that has been denied.

Why not give the link to the latest version; 4.1.0.88?

  • Update the firmware on battery PC7024

I'm about to run an update of the firmware on a stack of 2 switches PowerConnect 7024. These switches are for our iSCSI SAN, so ideally I'd reboot 1 at a time. Is this supported? (Terrible name!) option of 'reset' is ALL, 1, 2. Being the entire stack at a time, 1 being the 1st sw etc etc.

I want to restart 1, see it come and then restart 2. Is that supported? It would be perhaps 30 seconds battery members having a different firmware version I know is NOT supported...

Hi, you can disable the automatic synchronization of the firmware stack and update of each Member of the battery and reboot, but it is not recommended or taken in charge and still could interrupt the network, it is best to do the automatic update and have the downtime to reset the entire stack at a time.

no starting auto-copy-sw is the command to turn it off. FTP://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/common/PowerConnect-7024_Reference%20Guide_en-us.PDF page 1356

  • update the firmware on 1815dn

Dell technical support had me download 3 files to get win7 manual and correct drivers yesterday. One of them has proved to be a updated firmware for the printer.

after update, the printer screen showed (initialization of the system) and wouldn't do anything. technical support is not smart enough to know how to perform the update of the firmware, I thought about it this morning on my own. printer off and press and hold the x button (cancel) all by turning on the device. the printer then entered in download mode, installed the update of the firmware and now works again.

    bigddv,

Thanks for the update. I remember that some laser printers, you need to update the firmware in steps, where this information is needed.

You shouldn't go to firmater 01 to 04 firmware, without having to first install the 02 and 03.

  • Best practices for the firmware update 40 + switches

    Hello.

I need for firmware (and boot code) updated over 40 switches PowerConnect (mainly 5324).

What is the best practice on that?

I tried to download and install Dell OpenManage Network Manager, but it seems like an application of 'disorder' for someone who doesn't know. I threw a look at the demo of Dell for the application, but the quality is very bad and it is a version different than the one I downloaded (V3.0.1.15) you cannot use the guides directly.

Are there other options that manual session opening, then TFTP the new firmware and boot code? Or can someone a link to a valid demo or documentation that can help me with the work?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Solution for nasal sound choppy after updating the firmware of the player combo cdrw/dvd TS-L462C

Hello you all frustrated users Dell! : manhappy:

Before I post my solution, here's what happened to me...

Towards the end of November ' 07, I decided to update all my drivers for my Inspiron B130 running Windows XP sp2, including the firmware for the TS-L462C 24 x CD-RW/dvd combo drive.

In the next few days to update, I noticed that my audio started his jerky / stutter any kind of program that I used to listen to, unless you use the CD player.

I came to Dell and started browsing these forums for a solution, given that my warranty was expired, and only Dell was to restore the original configuration, that was not a very practical solution with all the unwanted 'important' that I have accumulated in two years.

I've tried everything by many users with the same annoying problem recommended here (update of Bios, drivers roll back, etc.).

The only thing that worked was to keep a CD in the drive at all times, which as we know, is not a permanent solution, but is favorite Microsoft term... workaround.

What I finally discovered that was the update of the firmware Dell 'bad' DE07... why they don't check these things?

The solution I finally found, after months of this and other forums, research is to restore firmware DE07 DE05.

That at first, does not seem that easy because the DE05 flashes the firmware from a boot disk and my B130 came with a floppy drive.

So here's how I did it...

    1. If you haven't already, you will need the DE07 utility that comes with the upgrade.

Get it here... TS-L462C DE07 firmware

Follow the instructions to download and unzip, but do not install... we just need the windows Flash utility.

    2. download and unzip the DE05 firmware.

Get it here... TS-L462C DE05 firmware

Note the location of this folder, because we need the .bin for sync this folder file.

    Mine unzipped here... C:\dell\drivers\R114334

    3. now open (double click) on the update of the firmware DE07 called SFDNWIN.exe

and follow the instructions to update...

    a. click on the download file ' open' button to the left.

    b. do not click on the DE07_060525.bin, but instead, navigate to the folder that has the DE05.bin, who, in mine, is located at C:\dell\drivers\R114334, to select. Click on 'open '.

    c. click on the "Start download" button in the middle.

    d. click "Restart Windows".

    e. system will restart after the flash is complete.

I hope this has been helpful and not too complicated, but it worked wonderfully for me!

    : manvery-happy:

    Good luck

  • CD burner Burns not... need the firmware update.

I'm running Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 1440, my CD burner has stopped working. I successfully burned a CD today (with photos), but suddenly, it cannot burn any CD more and offers that I might need to update my "firmware". What can I do?

CD players provided with the computer can / specialized ENGINE "firmwares" directly from the machine system.  Check the Dell website, if your computer is "classified" for Windows 7.  Then, check the availability of the firmware.

If Dell not provided an update of the firmware and your computer is capable of running Windows 7 officially, you can be lock and the CD (DVD?) is "dead".
