The upgrade of a 780 HP Pavilion Windows 7

Dear support team / community,

I have an old HP Pavilion 780 Office (HP Pavilion 04 P6418A-ABU 780) with an XP operating system. I want to upgrade to windows 7 if possible, running Windows 7 upgrade advisor - the report mentions that the graphics card is not compatible.

The motherboard is an ASUS P4B266LA

The chipset is Intel 845D/MP (Brookdale) + ICH2

Graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX400

Processor is an Intel Pentium 4-2600 (2.60 GHz 1.29 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM)

Serial number (personal information)

Any suggestions on a compatible graphics card that will run Windows 7?

Kind regards Brian

Hello:

I would check eBay for a video card used, but tested and functional nVidia GeForce 6200 128 MB AGP, or ATI Radeon 9600 128 MB AGP card.

The plug from motherboard for this model indicates he has an AGP video card slot.

  • The upgrade of equipment and installation of windows on Equium M40X

    Hi guys,.

I bought a M40X-189 in 2005, which came with win XP Home Edition on a toshiba CD.

I don't know if this is common worldwide or for different models; but my installation CD verifies only that it is in the computer on which it was purchased with and then coppies an image disk pre-installed and pre-activated windows XP on the computer. I love what it means I don't have to use the serial key and I am not limited to 3 activations on my serial key.

The only complaint is that when I needed a CD of windows for fixing the computer (starting in recovery mode), this CD did not work and I had to download a pirated copy of XP home (I only it used once to start in recovery mode, and I never installed windows, so I hope that's ok).

Anyway, the computer comes with a Hitachi HTS541060G9AT00 hard drive (60 GB, ATA - 6, 5400 RPM, 8 MB cache, 12ms search) and I wanted to upgrate to a 250 GB western digital drive with the same cache, research, interface and rpm.

I was wondering will the CD still be able to install windows or he thinks that it is not the computer, it came with and therefore not let me install?

    Hello

If you want to install Windows XP using not the recovery disc, then you will have to enter the serial on the right key.
If you don t have a serial key on the right then you will not be able to complete the installation of the OS.

With regard to upgrading the HARD drive:
I know you can use a 120 GB 2.5 IDE HDD for sure, but I don't very well if the 250 GB would be recognized due to the LBA 24 bit m.

I recommend you to choose a 120 GB HARD drive

Hello everyone. Have a basic question for the upgrade of the Ethernet card or the card NETWORK on my Compaq Presario under W7 Home Premium. Initially, this machine ran Vista. I installed a PCI 3Com NIC {3Com EtherLink 10/100 PCI TX NIC (3C905B-TX)}. Windows Update find the required driver. Please help someone

You can download the .iso file correct 64-bit instead:

The format of the box is the old version.

  • Pavilion 15-ab043sa: cannot reset to factory settings after the upgrade computer laptop brand new 10 Windows

I bought 2 new laptops, they seem to be special models not listed is not in the HP support site, purchased from Currys PC World in the United Kingdom.

First HP Pavilion 15-ab045sa laptop computer 15.6 "-red, upgraded to windows 10 perfectly well and I made a backup of the system while I studied the creation of recovery media (this info must be printed with the laptop in the box, rather than letting the user have to find BTW)."

The other a HP Pavilion 15-ab043sa laptop computer 15.6 "-blue, for my parents, has turned into a total disaster."

The two models are the same, except that the first is red and the other is blue, that's why they have different product numbers?

I was now in a position where the recovery on the D: drive partition is not a factory reset.

I did not even recovery disks as having the first one to go smoothly, I thought the same thing would happen on the second laptop and I got the recovery disc then.   I tried to create a USB stick recovery, but I had no one who can save the system settings - need at least 32 GB free.

This occurred as first I started the laptop, made of windows, MS Office 365 updates, added then waiting 2 days for windows 10 to arrive.  When it came it installed fine and then I added a printer driver for an HP printer and made some configurations of the operating system.  At the next reboot showed something was wrong as the boot took over 7 minutes.  As the synaptics app was referenced twice in the tab start Task Manager also had strange things in the system.  Rather than go back to a previous system restore point that I attempted to identify what was wrong and uninstalled all without success.  I then had the opportunity to go back to 8.1 for Windows or "reset the PC.  Not a lot of explanation on delivery to zero and certainly no warning options that the D: partition was no longer valid.  Windows options were "in my face" so I don't think watching HP recovery.  So I chose to run from Control Panel 'Reset the PC and keep the files'.  So, indeed, I now have a clean install of Windows 10 but have lost all applications that were on the factory orginal building.  I see no way to re - install all of these programs and find the license keys.  I have more HP recovery at all.

So I have no way to put the blue doesn't return to the factory settings.

Advice please, I want a laptop blue, the same as the red, i.e. Windows 10 with all applications that have come to the factory as well as the correct printer drivers and a time of less than 30 seconds of starting.

You are not sure if there is anything I can copy from red to blue to get it going again?

Any help gratefully appreciated, thank you

  • The upgrade from 2 XP Machines to Windows 8 32-bit using CD 1.

I am planning to purchase and install 8 32-bit Windows and then switch to 8.1 by the store.

I have the new Mobo and parts to come for my laptop and have already spent $300,00 +/-to prepare the desktop computer.

My office has full-file XP SP3 with a genuine Windows key.

I also have a laptop that died so hard that I have to do a Complete install with a new key.

    I understand the new key, but;

Can I use the same installation CD and use the Office XP key that I have to upgrade, without buying another key?

Both computers are guaranteed officially custom and past.

    Hi Robert,.

Thanks for posting the request in Microsoft Community Forums.

You can install Windows XP by using the CD, however it is not possible to use the same product key to activate that has already been used on the desktop. I suggest you perform a new installation of Windows 8 on laptop with the new retail product key. Therefore, you may need to purchase 2 product key of Windows 8 to activate both computers.

How to perform a new installation of Windows

  • The upgrade Options of unique language of Windows 8 for Windows 8 Pro

I use a portable 5 year old that I have upgraded to Windows 8 Pro 32-bit in October 2012, when Windows 8 was launched. I have the product key with me. But now the laptop is proving to be too old and often runs into problems due to old equipment and I want to buy a new system.

I'm interested the Office of all-in-one SONY VAIO press 20 that comes with Windows 8 single language build 9200 preinstalled. Before buying the new system, I want to clarify some things and I would be grateful if someone can help me here.

    1. What are the differences between W8 SL and Pro W8, in addition to the fact that I can not install another language in SL W8? Can I install Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool for typing in Indian languages in the single language version?

    2. What are my options if I want to spend the W8 W8 Pro SL?

    3. can I use the product key Pro W8 I bought online while improving my laptop earlier (which is undesirable in any case), to upgrade the new all-in-one? Please keep in mind that the older laptop has a 32 bit OS while the new AIO will need a 64 bit OS.

    Thank you.

    2. What are my options if I want to spend the W8 W8 Pro SL?

If you are planning to retire to your current system in which Windows 8 Pro is installed, you can use this product key and upgrade Windows 8 language professionals.

Press the Windows key + X

    Click System

    On Windows, click the link:

Get more features with a new edition of Windows

Click on the "I already have a product key link.

Enter your product key and you will be promoted to the Pro.

    3. can I use the product key Pro W8 I bought online while improving my laptop earlier (which is undesirable in any case), to upgrade the new all-in-one?

Yes, see answer above, you will need to reactivate over the telephone.

Please keep in mind that the older laptop has a 32 bit OS while the new AIO will need a 64 bit OS.

No matter, product key works with either 32 or 64 bits.

    Activation of the phone;

    1. press the Windows key + X , and then click run, and then type: slui.exe 4

    2. then press the ENTER"" key.

    3. Select your "country" in the list.

    5. stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    6. explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • The upgrade on Pavilion 9667ea hard drive to SSD

I think the upgrade my computer laptop 9667ea Pavilion by replacing the first hard drive of 160 GB with an SSD, as the Cruicial M500 240 GB SATA 111, or similar.

Could you tell me if there are problems in doing this, because I see no other posted messages it may be according to the model of your laptop?

I advanced and bought the SSD (Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB), which has been installed on the HP Pavilion dv9667ea. Everything went well and I used the Samsung software cloning with the SSD drive (I backed up the C drive beforehand). I have power and data cables, so I need just the package base. The new 250 GB SSD drive replaces the original 160 GB hard drive, I decided to take out the other drive so hard 160 GB. The laptop is much faster at startup and is also faster by using the programs on the laptop. As there are now no hard drives on the laptop, there is now virtually no fan noise, which was inconvenient.

    Thank you for your advice.

  • Impossible to upgrade to windows vista ultimate from vista home Basic using the upgrade disc

I bought a disc "to upgrade use only" Windows Vista Ultimate at my University and tried to upgrade my current version of Windows (Vista Home Basic).

At the stage where I had to select the 'Upgrade' or 'Custom' installation option, I noticed that the interface was telling me, 'Upgrade Disabled"with a message that has been along the line"this version of windows is already installed and cannot be upgraded."
I know that the upgrade disc was probably intended for the upgrade from an earlier version of Windows like XP, but I assumed that because Microsoft also sells discs "Anytime Upgrade" to do exactly what I'm trying to accomplish this I would have had no problem.
For any help or suggestion that contact would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    It's all about Service Pack.
We don't know what you have.

If Service Packs came pre-installed on the operating system, there is no way to uninstall them.
You will need to swap the disk to upgrade to a later version that includes the missing Service Pack.

In this case, your upgrade disk has NO Service Pack installed with it.

Take it back to the University, if you cannot uninstall SP1 operating system.
