themes do not apply, more like windows 98

I have vista home premium x 64

I used vista glazz to patch my theme files

But when I try to apply themes, the appearance of my taskbar and Windows Explorer windows change to the look of windows 98

This happens with all themes except the original theme of windows vista.

About half of the themes do not see the same theme personalization window, but are correctly placed in the folder resources/theme

Curiously, when I use windowsblinds, themes apply correctly

  • Vista theme does not apply/work.

Some time ago my laptop is returned to the theme old windows 2000 relli and when I tried to go back to vista theme it says that Visual styles cannot be applied.  Does anyone know how to get back the vista theme? AV tried for months, but it will not go back.  Help, please!

    Hello

Click Start, type services.msc and press to open the services dialog box. In the list, scroll down and locate the themes service. Click on it, and then start/restart option in the left column. Once started, you should be able to select and apply the theme Windows Vista in the Control Panel/customize/Themes dialog box. • Automatic update of Windows Vista 15/09/10 changed my theme to look a bit like Windows 98. How I can it return to normal Vista theme?

I tried to change it by using the taskbar properties. The classic Start menu option is not selected. So what's happened? Hope I can get a quick fix. Thanks in advance!

    This might help:

Since the Panel control/customize, go to themes and check that the theme of Windows Vista is activated.

If it is not available, click Start and type services.msc, and then press to open the dialog box. Scroll the themes service, and then click it. Click start it or restart option in the left column. Once restarted, check again the themes of customization dialog box.

  • Alternative to Command + SHIFT + 4 more like Windows capture tool?

Before starting my work, I had only used Mac computers, so I'm very familiar with the CMD-SHIFT-4/3 option to take screenshots. However, for my work, I need to take a lot of selective screenshots in quick succession, including the CMD + SHIFT + 4 does not lend itself to the same way that the tool captures Windows (difficult to sort through all the images on one's Desktop without taking the extra time to label each). Does anyone know of an app, Chrome extension or another tool on the Mac that better mimics the tool captures, which allows to easily take a selective screenshot, paste, and start over without the extra step of traction frame on the desktop?

FWIW, command + control + Shift + 4 to create a selection, and then copy it to the Clipboard.

Command + control + Shift + 3 copies the entire screen to the Clipboard.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 - HF ALL them do not install as "does not apply to this computer.

    Hello

A general question about patch installs.

I have several servers which are all Windows 2012 R2.   They don't have internet connections, so I have to install the patches manually.  I have download the HF from the download page of the ISO (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/913086) every month.    I collect them and install in a facility in bulk during a release cycle (once or twice a year).   I just realized that no. HF have installed since JUNE 2014.  Each HF that appears in the directory WindowsServer2012R2 do not settle with a message "the update is not applicable to your computer.  Which is fine if that was true, but... I get this message for each HF ISO since June 2014.  NOT a single HF, it's applicable to my computer.   Would this be the case?  No HF apply to my 2012 since June of 2014 server systems?

This is my system information, and below that is the result of any attempt to install 95 HF

  • Windows 8, WMP and ISO mounting - one or more of them does not cooperate

I have a Lenovo Yoga running Windows 8.  I ripped a DVD ISO.  I copied the ISO on a SD card and then inserted into Yoga.  I right click on the ISO file and click to go up.  I get an error message, but the ISO seems to go.  If I double-click the drive on which is created, I can see the files and open them.

I then open Windows Media Player, but it does not show the drive mounted as a choice to play.  Open the Video_TS folder and right click on the video_ts file and I get WMP to read.  WMP opens in a small window, but does not play.

I don't know if there is a problem with the editing, with WMP with Windows 8 or ISO.

    A few points:
    (1) ISO can be mounted on a Windows 7 machine using 3rd party software.  He then played in WMP (for Windows 7) very well
    (2) the ISO file is associated with the Windows Explorer and type is a disk Image file.
    (3) I've seen a few posts on the error message where, despite the message, the mount works.  Those are resolved.
    (4) I saw a post, noting that the problem seems to be a SD disk in Yoga.  Copy the ISO on the desktop and the removal of the SD card do not work.
    (5) I have VLC installed on Yoga.  But I have a second Yoga that VLC is not installed and it does not work.
    (6) VLC will play the video fine from the SD card.

Why do I love so much about using WMP?
    (a) because it is supposed to work.
    (b) because it saves me having to keep VLC.
    (c) because if I use VLC, then I have to show my wife how to navigate to the folder and open the specific file.

Please notify.  Thank you very much.

    Hello

The problem is that WMP 12 will play is no longer just about any type of disc DVD or files due to licensing reasons...

If you need to turn on Media Center, it will be. It will also provide for a different reading of WMP additional codecs... It costs $9.99 in Win 8 Pro. 8 to win on a regular basis is a bit more expensive.

Your only other option is what you already know... A 3rd party player such as VLC...

You should be able to get VLC or others as default for DVD player make things a little easier.

  • Firefox does not open more than one window, only opens new tabs. Firefox does not open in safe mode.

Firefox does not open more than one window at a time, and then opens only new tabs. When asked to open the link in a new window - nothing happens, no error message or the page appears. Otherwise, it works great, but no new firefox window cannot be opened menu or the mouse. I tried to reinstall firefox several times, which did not help.

    This has happened

    Each time Firefox opened

    Is 3-4 months ago

There are some extensions that are causing a problem like that. See this:

  • I'm not like WIndows 8 on my new HP laptop 2000-2c29WM

I just bought a HP laptop 2000-2c29WM with Windows 8 64 bit OS on it and I don't like it at all. Can I downgrade the OS by the reinstallation of WIndows 7? I have a full copy I bought for my last laptop that has been destroyed. And where could I find the hardware drivers?

    HEY Jf,

You can certainly 'back' to Windows 7 - some people and in your case, the drivers for your computer are still available for the change is possible without pain.

If you think about some of the reasons to stay with this new great operating system, please take a look at some of the ways you can do Windows 8 a little more comfortable while you "make friends" with her.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Windows 8 has many new features, many of which are visible on the 'front end' where the boot screen took the place of the Start Menu button.

There are some immediate things you can do that make it easier to navigate in this start screen:

    • Whenever you need to find something - a program, application, or a file, you can go to the screen start dragging your finger (for touch screens) or your mouse to the lower left corner of the screen.  Once the splash screen is up and running and you can see your 'charms and tiles' (large icons), just start tapping anywhere on the screen for the 'thing' you're looking for.  It's your new method of ' search and type ".  You can use whole words, of words, any pieces that you think you need.
    • Consider using the Windows key to make things easier to find and easier tasks.  The Windows key by itself displays the splash screen, the Windows key in combination with other keys do all kinds of cool stuff:

    Keyboard shortcuts in Windows

    Windows key + X

    • It is therefore important to have backups!  So many people wait until it's too late.

HP - backup of your files (Windows 8) computers

    • The 'file history' backup in Windows 8 is a new very cool feature you can easily configure to save backups of your data on an external drive.  For example, you might have a mini-tower, a Pocket Player or a USB drive connected to your computer that you can use for backups.  You can use a NAS (Network Attached Storage) system, if you have one in your office (home).

Example of a network address NAS drive would include the IP address of your local NAS drive, the main folder available for backup and maybe a local folder dedicated for your own files:

    \\192.168.0.1\Data\Dragon-Fur_History

The backup of default history file intercepts files in your "libraries", contacts and favorite settings and runs a new backup to update every hour all that has changed, i.e. "changed" since the last time that the data has been added to the backup.  Nice.  Under "Advanced settings", you can change the duration between two backups in different groups of ten minutes to once a day.

You can easily add folders to the history of the leader, by adjusting, files that are in your 'libraries' setting.

NOTE: If you have a number of files in "libraries" that you maintain for your convenience, and you do not require these files to save to history files, you can always "exclude" these folders of the backup by using the feature "exclude".

If space on your external drive is at a premium, consider reducing the number of versions you want to keep.  Under Advanced settings, just to the right side, under where you decide how long to keep your backups, click "Clean up versions" > remove anything, you can live without.

  • Windows Vista's Aero theme will not work after you install a major update and reboot into Windows Automatic Update, can I fix?

    Update: Windows x 64?

After I did a reboot the theme changed to Standard or Windows Classic theme.
When I try to change the theme back there is no preview on the window and when I try to apply the theme, there's just the same thing.

    Hello

also try to go to your site in manufacturere graphics or computer cards and find the driver download section

Search your computer or graphics card model number based on what you have and download and install the latest graphics drivers for vista

You may also like to change how you receive updates for do you download this update problem still through automatic updates

for any update you don't want to, make a right click on it and hide it

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial140.html

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need or who have limited access to internet

  • Windows themes does not

    Hello

I don't know what is the question, so I'll try to explain it better than I can.

When I start my computer, the taskbar looks like an old computer windows 97. When I try to change the theme, I get the error message that the theme may not be applied on the desktop, please use another theme. Here is a screenshot of the taskbar. Another thing that does not work, it is that when I press Windows (Logo) + tab, nothing happens. normally its supposed to switch between screens.

Sometimes if I play with the themes for a while it starts to work again, but not now. All themes are grey in the preferences. When I do the troubleshooting on aero it tells me that the Desktop Window Manager is disabled. But it runs as dwm.exe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For a starter, make sure that the "Thèmes" service is listed and "start - auto".

in "search programs and files", type "services.msc" (without the quotation marks), press [Enter].

In the list, make sure that "Thèmes" are listed, as his starter and indicated as automatic.

If its listed but not started or not automatic, do a right click, properties, change the startup type to automatic and click [start]. You will need to run as administrator-level to do so. Even though it says its has begun, it may be worth clicking on [stop] and then [start] see if that helps.

Also do the same for "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager" in services.msc. Stop them both and then restart them, themes first.

Looks like you have done this, but if not, try to run the convenience store Aero - in "search programs and files" enter "convenience store" (without the quotes). Click on "Appearance and personalization" and click on run the convenience store "display aero desktop effects' to see if that finds all the problems.

    Hi Rockyakauke25,

Welcome to Microsoft answers community forum!

This day stanalone you trying to install?

Try to install the update in safe mode.

Try to install the update in safe mode and see if you are able to install. Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.

To start in safe mode, follow the steps below:

    1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.

2   , do one of the following:

    ·         If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    ·         If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    3. in the display Advanced Startup Options , use the arrow keys to select the option of safe mode you want and press ENTER. For more information about the options, see Advanced startup options (including safe mode).

4 log your computer with a user account with administrator rights.

Install the prerequisite updates before applying a new update that is installed sp 1 for a successful installation sp 2.

See the link for download of SP1 and installation

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/bb738089.aspx

Try to run the system update readiness tool before installing the SP1 or SP2.

A software update is available for the Windows Vista installation:

  • Installed the updates, but the display looks like windows 98 and the Wireless does not work

    Hello
I use a laptop with vista service pack 2 and I tried to update windows via windows update on the recommendation of the support page from microsoft on how to unload a debugger. There are only three optional updates available, I forgot what they are and after restarting the computer the theme looked like windows 98 and my without wire might work, and also, I was still having problems with the game with the question of the debugger.

    What should I do?

(And Norton) McAfee applications are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves. The 'remains' of McAfee may be cause of your problem.

    1. download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop tool: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4 test cycle.

NB: If the application pre-installed McAfee subscription or free trial period has expired before you install Threatfire, the latter may not have installed correctly and can not work correctly since you installed it.

You can buy Windows 7; It does not come for free.

    And follow these steps:

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.
