Thermal Quad 2.5 paste reapplying.

Hi all

I have to admit that I went out and bought a refurb MacPro and rigged up until I dared to try this with my BFF 2.5 PowerMac quad. I have a:

Long Sleeve T 4 mm ball hex.

Ball hex T long sleeve 3mm.

CERAMIC Arctic silver,

92% alcohol,

cloth wipes,

ESD pad,

Braid and earthing strap

a magnetizer:

and girded my loins because I finally.

The issue I had was my CPU has worked at 20 ° C higher than CPUB idling. I had to cut my power in half so he can operate without KP/s or just too much noise from the fan.

I have to report the success at least partially. My cpu that now is good idling at 39-40 ° C my CPU B, however, who had run to 39 c now idling at 47-48 (grrr)

Fans are still too strong, but with the computer running all 4/s CPu to 100% for hours, my time higher on a CPU was perhaps 65 c

I hope this money claim Arctic it may takes days of the run time to the correct position will be granted and bring down this cpu B to reduce time to loads of minor work. The higher temperature problem I solved and the most used A CPU is nice and chill already. If CPU B is not online in a month, I will not hesitate to fire again and again B CPU only because it is much easier that I had feared. If you are quiet, the work does not take more than an hour.

Firstly, my computer has the LCS double pump (no Delphi).

One: follow the steps for the removal of the screws of LCS or loosen (many will remain on and not fall off if you leave just a tiny bit of wire engaged).

Two: pull the LCS directly outwards.

Three: simply delete everything that the screw look like they hold the heat sink copper (if you remove each screw, as you can see, then you did it right).

Four: Remove the two screws at each end of the cpu card.

Five: Pull the heatsink and the cpu card up on the side of the LCS

6: Return the jury (note the pins that you do not overwrite handling) and see the dry dough on the small of CPU.

Seven: clean old dough dried off the coast of the matrix with alcohol or a special liquid of Arctic Silver.

Eight: Clean the copper shim of the LCS Similarly

New: Remove dust on the circuit board with a wipe of alcohol if you can't stand too much questioning dusty) but know you may brush your PIN if you're not careful.

Ten: Search your CPU on the ARCTICS Silver system Web site and follow their instructions exactly (is where I messed up then I think since I have used a credit card for "Tin" the copper LCS hold I do not use a specific model and the amount on the face of the matrix). Having just made this addition GHZ 2 x 3.43 six main my new MacPro Xeon... Grrrrr... I have no excuse).

11: replace the CPU card by sliding it in its task of so that the heat sink is just right. (since you do one at a time, you have a model just next door).   Tighten all the screws. I went around as if I had to change a tire).

12: Repeat all the steps above for the other CPU card.

Then, replace the lCS by following the manual of maintenance again (after a one). The power cable that passes under "LCC" spirit. I'm scared me silly when the LCS abandoned too fast for my taste on the spacers of guide. I had to have a friend to support a bit on this cable and when its support was gone: down, went to the LCS.  Gently swinging it from one side to the other several times. Finally, replace or tighten all the screws in the exact order shown in the manual.

Renumber to replace the battery, that I would have been listed as a first step. I have not and it started but my reved fans and I thought that I didn't.

This brings me to my question. I hope BD Aqua reads this, but anyone feel free to jump in. Given that my fans were reving too fast when I started with the battery, I decided to make sure that my ASD boot disk worked and 2.6.3... it didn't.

It turns out that Darling 2.6.3 was simply a cruelly classified 2.5.2 and, therefore, did not work.

Can someone give search terms that will make me a real copy?

Phew.   Never mind. I searched my other Raid array and found the real thing. I tested it and it starts but I will not try to calibrate it to less than one month or a daily driving. BTW, the hypnotist, I noticed was really get your heads long keys T super super attractive to screw who would otherwise sink and fall into the areas of power supply and laugh at me.

I have been using a Zebra 2844 thermal printer during the past year. In recent months he has been giving me problems. When I try to use the printer it is greyed out and says offline, when I put in online it (it shows online) it does not print when I try to print a test page. If I turn the computer off and wait for a long time, like 12 hours and go back to give it another shot he usually works for a little while, so I have to go through all that again. I tried two different zebra printers, 3 cables different and different drivers for the printer and it still doesn't work as it should. I tried to use it on a friends computer and it works fine, all the time. This leads me to believe that there is something wrong with my computer, either the motherboard or a driver problem. I use the same cables and software on both computers. The only thing that seems strange with my computer, it's that when I go to install the printer, I have only a single port usb (USB002) option. I have 4 USB ports on my computer, 1 is used by the keyboard, and it has a wi - fi dongle. Can anyone help to understand what is happening? I don't want to have to buy a new computer just to print, but since I use it for my business I don't know what I can do. SE re-formatting help with the problem?

    My computer is running XP

Okay, so now I know where you are, you need to install sp2 first, then sp3

    don't worry sp1 or sp1a

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=28

    SP2

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=24

    SP3

in fact just follow all the instructions below.

do not try to install chrome, until your system is installed and running, use IE until fully update patched

Not only do this if you can update IE, but XP with SP3 installed is supported until April 2014. Nothing that less is no longer supported.

If you installed SP1a, you can go directly to SP3. If only the SP1 is installed, download and install SP2 first.

Save these downloads, do not choose to run.

Before you install, disable your antivirus and anti-spyware such as Windows Defender programs. If you are using another firewall, disable and enable Windows Firewall in the control panel for the installation. Once the SP2 and SP3, then is in and functional, you can activate the third-party firewall and put the Windows Firewall. Do not keep the two running.

Restart the computer two times after each installation. After installing SP3, the next step is to download all critical updates.

When you are fully updated, now you can install IE8. I would recommend defrag before and after installing IE8.

Download IE8 on your desktop. Do not use Windows or Microsoft Updates.

Restart your computer. With no other programs running, disable your antivirus software and spyware or programs you can have spam. If you run a third of firewall, disable it and enable the Windows Firewall.

Now install IE8 from the office. When finished, restart your computer two times and make sure your disabled programs are back in business.

  • Alienware m18x r1 gpu controls upgrade

Hello everyone, its my first time here and for the first time have an Alienware, its awesome! In any case, I have an Alienware m18x r1 with double graphics nvidia gtx 560 m and an Intel I7-2680.  I want to move to the gtx 580 m and I was wondering I need to buy something else besides that the gpu as the cables or heat sinks?

Yes, a 2960XM or 2920XM works beautifully in your M18xR1 or the other of these XM processors will be better than any CPU mobile non-Extreme, including latest processors Haswell. In fact, the obsolete 2920XM, 2960XM, 3940XM and 3920XM processors will be even better than the more recent processor Extreme 4930MX of Haswell. Intel Haswell i7 desktop and mobile processors are poor overclockers and they can't keep up with Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge i7 CPU because of the temperature and the limitation of the problems. Upgrade your M18xR1, you'll have a machine to equal or exceed the performance of 18 new Alienware similarly spec'd, in order to make this upgrade makes sense. You can also achieve the massive advantage of having the ability of a system completely unlocked BIOS flash, which is currently not possible with the new machines Haswell-based.

You'll need to buy a better CPU heatsink to the CPU of XM support. Order a 3-pipe heat sink M18xR2. He will do a great job and fits perfectly in your M18xR1. Dell Reference number is 0MXJ5.

I invite you to upgrade to GTX 680 M SLI instead of 580 M SLI. While 580M is definitely better than 560M you will blow a lot of money on a relatively minor performance increase. The SLI GTX 680 M upgrade works perfectly in the M18xR1. Do not use heat sinks 560 M unless they have a sticker showing they are sized for 100W. If they have a sticker indicating 75W, you will run into problems with a 100W GPU. (580 M and 680 M are the two video cards to 100W). While the heat sinks 560 M adapts physically, I do not recommend their use. However, GTX 580 M sinks 100W of heat works really well for 680 M and 780 M video cards.

Here are the reference numbers for Dell that you would need for this upgrade:

    Part number Qty. Description
XHW5W 1 Fan law, graphics card (if you currently have a single GPU and GPU fan)
GDMRG 1 NVIDIA SLI Bridge Cable
CPCXD 2 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 M 2 GB vRAM
    Y48TK 1 Right to heatsink GeForce GTX 680 M (100W)
    5G1VJ 1 Left heat sink GeForce GTX 680 M (100W)
3MHHT 2 Support NVIDIA GTX plate (can be supplied with heat sinks purchased new from Dell)

    XM3C3

    1

330W Delta AC adapter (required for CrossFire or SLI Systems)
Note: Dell P/N F0K0N is the same and will work perfectly as part replacement for XM3C3.

GTX 580 M is outdated and not powerful enough to handle some of today's demanding games and I think that you will be ultimately not satisfied with the results. The GTX 680 M has already been tested and verified 100% compatible with the M18xR1 even if this configuration is not supported by Dell/Alienware. (They can tell you that it is not compatible. Don't believe because it is absolutely not true. 7970 M and 780 M video cards have also been tested and they are all compatible with the M18xR1.) The GTX 680 M is more powerful that any new series 700M with the exception of GTX 780 M. GTX 680 M SLI cards is almost as well as GTX 780 M SLI in the new 18 Alienware. I do not recommend the upgrade to 780M SLI unless money is no object, because they are very expensive video cards. If money is no object, then go with 780M SLI is a no-brainer.

The increase in performance 680M offers more than 580 M is simply phenomenal... We're talking around a 100% increase in performance, and I beg you to consider this upgrade instead of 580 M SLI. If Dell/Alienware will not sell you video cards of 680M to do the upgrade for your R1, simply buy all the rest and then go get the Clevo GTX 680 M cards MXM 4 GB of Eurocom. Clevo cards work well in the Alienware machine.

If you buy a new CPU and GPU from Dell sinks, they will come with thermal pads and a 'paste' (TIM) for previously applied die surfaces. The Dell interface material thermal (TIM) is excellent and you will not have to buy any thermal paste for the CPU and the GPU die surface. If you buy used heat sinks, then I highly recommend to use IC Diamond thermal paste.

  • What thermal paste works well for Satellite A200?

    Hello

I have the problem of heat for months. I have tried serval OCZ Freeze extreme conductivity compound thermal times there worked in the first week. But the second week, it became worse and worse until the laptop could not start. Someone has suggestions thermal in which the brand name paste works fine for Satellite A200?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

I didn't change the thermal paste on my laptop Toshiba still but on my desktop computer, I use Arctic Cooling MX-3. I also read some tests on the Internet on the thermal fat and MX - 3 is still a better. Grease thermal OCZ is also good but the Arctic Cooling surpasses the OCZ.

In addition, it is also important to clean the surface of the heatsink and processor. So, I can recommend the ArctiClean cleaning kit. Use Google to find some online shops where you can buy it. If you can ensure that all of the old thermal grease is removed properly.

    Good bye

  • Thermal paste change void the warranty?

I know what may seem like a stupid question but opening up a laptop to a vacuum of change (since the current seems to be terrible) guarantee thermal paste?

I wouldn't really take the laptop all the way to a service center because it is an operation I can easily accomplish on my own.

Yes, it will void the warranty. Support action that can be made by the owner of the laptop of RAM and HARD drive change. No more than that. Disassembly of the laptop should be done by authorized personnel only.

  • Qosmio X 300 - 16 d - thermal buffer/paste solution for processor and Nvidia MCP

Can anyone suggest a good thermal solution (specific) for the Qosmio X 300 - 16 d CPU and the Nvidia MCP?

I ask because there is a slight complication with the D 16 (a SLI configuration)... the heatsink for the CPU and the Nvidia MCP are connected in the same thermal module, but while the CPU heat sink is screwed, the chip Nvidia MCP is not - there is a large gap between the chip and the radiator.

I'm guessing that a form any thermal pad should be used here instead of the grease/paste? Someone know what thermal pad was used by Toshiba for this, or point me to a high quality replacement that is suitable to be used?

    Thank you

    Chris

    Hello

As far as I know the thermal grease 776 (part num: K000055600) could be used.
But there are different cooling hang as mentioned by Akuma.

There is a fan thermal 1 DUAL - VGA (K000061940) and thermal fan 2 dual VGA (K000061950) as well.
I assume that both are for the SLI configuration.
There are also a few other modules cooling VGA (VGA THERMAL MODULE-1-GT-NB9E K000065560 and K000065560 of TMA VGA THERMAL MODULE-2-NB9E-W/O)

You can google for these numbers found in internet

This one is pretty good. Your processor may be slightly different. It is a 'lid' processor with a metal cover on the die of the entire processor. Your perhaps without eyelids, where you can see the Green circuit part printed outside of a metal core. I posted a picture of this kind of processor in response to another of your questions.

  • Equium A60 overheating issues - thermal paste fix

    Hello

Recently, I experienced the same problems of overheating seen by many others on this forum. I even found this forum searching for a fix for the problem.

    * This announcement should be used as a guide only - repairs are undertaken at your own risk *.

Now, my laptop is sitting next to me, idling at about 50 degrees - which is a massive improvement on the 64 degrees it was yesterday!

To resolve this problem, I used the method to blow all the dust from the orifice (covered many messages in this forum). However, I also dared to disassemble the laptop and give it a THOROUGH clean. It is a process long and complicated - but not beyond everyone. Firstly - I used this found here guide to disassemble the laptop - http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA65/satA65_1.htm - be sure to keep * ALL * the dismantled parts!

Once this done, you will find with the main card exposed. After that, I undid the screws that keep the TFT on the hinge and separated it from the chassis, while he was in two parts. Then, I removed gently the connector TFT from its place on the motherboard. There is a small screw, an additional wire to the TFT Ribbon to the chassis - I left it on, as I could not? t remove it! Then, I removed the Ribbon for the touchpad (carefully!) and carefully lifted the plastic all silver, away from the chassis part. Then I disconnected the power switch of the card mother - and completely taken off the plastic part.

Now, the heat sink everything will be displayed. From there, it gets a little more complicated - and consists of removing your radiator and the processor. If you are not willing to do that, or just think you don? t want to tinker with the "inner workings" - have a good clean around the parts that are exposed and then replace all the parts you have subscribed. For people who have problems of overheating worse - the following steps worked for me very well.

Presentations will be the whole radiator and fan. The silver on the metal heatsink screws are numbered - and I removed these sequentially. Then I unplugged the fan power cables and removed the screws at the right end of the fan. The heatsink should now clear the chassis lift, exposing the processor set. Then, I took the processor out of the chassis. You should now have a processor and a heatsink in front of you. The two should be a gray paste, gunky. This is known as the thermal paste and ensures a dispersion of heat from the chip on the radiator. On my parts, dough was propagated by the heat and on the sides of the chip - shifted far from where it was most needed. Now, I didn? t actually have a spare block when I took it apart last night - so I'm a plectrum guitar and smooth paste heatsink of heat and the chip on the surface of the chip. Once I covered the chip in a level amount of dough, I placed in the chassis and refitted the heatsink. Finally, I replaced everything what I had - and the powers of the laptop on the property.

I realize that this might not work for everyone - I had nothing to do last night, and it was a ditch last try to improve the management of the heat of this laptop. Fortunately for me it worked. I am looking for a thermal paste today, so that I can make a good application of paste on the chip before that I re - assemble again.

Of course, if you have a warranty on the laptop, it is not a good idea to open it up and execute this method. I recommend that people who have confidence in the performance of this procedure to try - it? s not dangerous - but you can mess up the inside of the laptop / your processor, if you're not careful.

    Good luck!

    Sam

    Hi Samuel

First of all, I want to thank you for this very detailed and long ;) description.
But as you say if the warranty is valid the user shouldn't? t open Notepad and do something. In this way the service guys should check. Then if people don't have any experience in this method they shouldn't? t do that, because it might be possible that something different is going dead.
    However, thanks again.

  • Guide to apply thermal paste to T430s

    Hello

I was wondering if there is a deep guide on how to disassemble the T430s for me to get on the heatsink to CPU and GPU? My laptop runs really hot at full load (80 C +) and I think it's for lack of Lenovo to design inept or maybe put bad thermal paste on it... If some thing guys do you have a guide so that I can re - apply Arctic Silver Ceramic 2?

    Thank you.

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?docid=UM014541

Here is the depth to guide disassembly and maintenance of your T430s.

At full load with 80 + C is not really a big deal. I can get my T430s with i7 and Intel HD 4000 to get at 103 degrees C when its new brand.

Is that T430s was not really designed to have full voltage CPU in it, and instead, it is designed for LV or a ULV processor. Put the full voltage CPU also meant a large heat load to the power of processing 100%, the fan and the heat sink is scrambling to keep up.

This is a chart of the test effort and the temperature of my T430s.

The guarantee has disappeared while they charge you for it and fat. Of course, you know how to get there because you did once before.

    Use things like:

Apply it on the heart of processor and the flat surface of any piece that comes in contact with a metal part of the radiator, not the parts affecting flexible. Apply a point the size of a BB in a gun to air. You can send it with a spatula as thin as possible plastic until it covers. A little goes a long way, as long as get you coverage.

  • HP4530s: HP4530s - time to change the thermal paste

    Hi all

can you please help me to decide if now is the time to change the thermal paste on my processor on laptop HP 4530 s. I have this laptop for almost 5 years now and lately I noticed significant overheting. Of course, the fan is always on. Home, take a look at the screenshot of Speedfan application. As you can see Core 0 (I guess that's the CPU and sometimes reaches more than 60 ° C).

Since the fan was cleaned not so long time ago, I thought I'd give laptop to some experts to disassemble, remove the radiator and change the thermal paste. I've seen many of these videos on you tube.

I have win 7 pro installed on this laptop and is mostly used for surfing the web, MS office and youtube.

    What is your opinion?

    Thank you!

Thank you for your help Hüffer. I also found on many places that these temperatures are almost normal. However, given that the laptop is almost five years I decided nevertheless to change thermal past and for cleaning the air in detail.

Is there not a lot of dust in the fan or heat sink. My firend exchanged thermal paste and after the test, the results are given in the following picture. Core0 temperature never exceeds 50 C. The test is carried out after an hour with the same content to youtube. The lapopt is not really hot on the side left (where are placed HDD and the heatsink) more. I think it was the right thing to do, something like a review.
