ThinApp, Quickbooks, and DFS

I've tried thinapp QuickBooks 2011 and found such a problem: Thinapped Quickbooks worked normally with the shell folders (My Documents, desktop), user who has been remapped to network drives. Actions for the network drives created with DFS, when used of usual actions there is no problem. Thinapped application can see the contents of these folders, but not written for them.

The most interesting in this situation, everything works very well with the version of Thinapp forecasts (4.6.1). If the application build with 4.6.2 it is above the problems, if with 4.6.1 - everything is OK. Any version used for the capture.

Is this bug in new version? Or this can be fixed by a few parameters?

I've used version Quickbooks 2011/12 and could not find the problem. I had a. QSF file in my documents on a network share and open in Quickbook and was able to create/add new customers, the changes reflected. The isolation mode is default it is to say, merged. ThinApp version is 4.7

Could you please let us know what platform the problem lies? What is the easy way to hit the issue?

    After updated a few customers today to this service pack level, they could no longer reach the namespace which worked just.  I have a mix of XP SP3, Vista SP1, SP2 and Windows 7 clients.  All clients are x 86 with the exception of the Win 7.  This error message and the problem is only affecting customers who have been updated to SP2 on Vista.  All other clients work as expected.  They can reach the root server and use DFS.  What is very interesting is, if I'm fast enough, I can't open the way and navigate files briefly before he launched me.  Trying to go back the namespace, I am prompted with:

    U:\ is not accessible

    Connection failure: unknown username or bad password.

    After rolling back to SP1, everything works fine.  What should I do to get the latest updates and also use DFS?

  • Cannot open programs or files due to windows install is not properly installed. What should I do, I can open things like Internet Explorer, QuickBooks and excel or word files.

    I can't open any programs.  When I try opening Quickbooks or Internet Explorer it just sparkles.  I used to be able to right click and open, but now the option open is missing.  When I tried to open the Excel program, he told me that Windows Installer is not correctly installed.  Help, please!

  • Attempt to send a invoice in QuickBooks and I am prompted for a name and a password, which will happen never before. How can I find them?

    I use QuickBooks Simple Start. I send 2 bills every week. For more than a year I have 2 invoices by e-mail. Last week as today a box appears requesting a user name and password when I click on send.  I don't know what they are. Help, please.

  • CTRL C and Ctrl V does not not in QuickBooks and other

    Quite often the Ctrl C & V functions stop working.  Am running Win 7 32 bit on a machine and 64-bit on another.

    This seems to happen AFTER THAT I run my virtual credit card, treatment program.  I come back to QuickBooks Pro and presto, no work.

    Yes, I can restart, but it is a long process on the system of creditors/debtors accounts.  I though I read somewhere that we could do the 'run' and perform a process that has restored these functions.

    Are you able to use the same function other applications such as Microsoft Word, Notepad etc... ?

    In some options of shortcuts of applications (Ctrl c and Ctrl v) option copy / paste will be disabled for

    security reasons. In this case, you will need to manually enter the numbers.

  • QuickBooks and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC seem incompatible.

    Since updated to Adobe Reader DC, my Quickbooks (update to the 2015 version) software does not recognize that I have installed Adobe Reader software and continuously pushes me to install Adobe Reader to view the previous statements of sales tax.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Using the ThinApp sandbox and Remote Desktop Services drive

    Hi, we test how thinapp works on our server terminal server with a few thousand users. There seems to be an option for save the disc space in the .ini file, but still the sandbox would use lot of disk space, when there are many thinapped programs? Is it possible to use the sandbox shared on a network drive, or what is the best option to save precious space on the server?

    Having the sandbox located on a network share will save everything you do Sandbox at this place and so not to save what anyone in the user profile... But again, everything depends on methods of insulation...

  • ThinApp application and USB mic'd

    I'm looking for a solution workaround enable a USB microphone work with a Thinapp would be the version of an application in the House, we use here at work.

    If I understand correctly, peripheral USB such as mic's and the camera is not supported, but I read this, starting a thread on the VMWare site dated 2008.

    Someone has suggestions for a workaround to get a microphone with Thinapp?

    I guess that your USB microphone requires its own device driver to install? If so, the question is not the device itself, but the driver. ThinApp does not support packaging device drivers. If you install the driver separately, packaged app should work fine.

  • ThinApp assessment and I have a few questions

    I did a search... was not able to find anything specific to my question maybe I'm just blind.

    I'm test ThinApp, and so far it looks like a great thing.  However I have a question... How an application updates itself if the changes are all sandboxed?  Is there a feature to capture tool to capture updates and apply them?

    An example would be Adobe Acrobat (or any product Adobe also)... they are good on the application of patches and update.  When a new update comes out, I have to go to my capture VM and install the program, update, then finish the capture and build it again?

    And what about programs that require a restart?  Starting the program captures automatically restarts?

    I use firefox as an example.

    Say I deploy as a thinapp firefox.exe, and people have the standbox stored in the default location (%AppData%) on the local machine (not a network share)

    A new version comes out and firefox 3.0.10 released, firefox will download the updates in the sandbox of the user.  If a restart of the program is necessary, then just leave the application as usual and run it again.  The new version will be loaded.

    The updated files are stored in the sandbox, so:

    -each user must update firefox individually, and therefore your internet access will be used for each person.

    -If the sandbox is removed, he reverts to the original version of firefox packaged with thinapp

    In this situation, if AppData% % was pointed to a network location.  This means that you could possibly use a lot of space due to a large number of users.

    Option 2... Turn off the 'auto-update' features  I probably suggests that if possible.  When you want to update the version of firefox, repackage the version that you want to use and stick, the network share as a firefox.1 (I think, consult the manual thinapp).

    Therefore, the network share would be:

    Firefox.exe

    Firefox.1

    When the thinapp runtime starts, it loads the most recent version (exe, then 1, then 2, then 3) etc.

    Previous versions havn't this problem.

    Looks like problem encoding.

  • ThinApp applications creating files at runtime and unable to locate

    I'm pretty new in the ThinApp world and I try to thin app, an app that creates a worksheet excel when you open a form, and then bed of this worksheet to do some calculations. The problem is when the form is created, it errors saying that it can find the created file. The file is used in the calculations for the portion of the calculator application does nothing. I see the file being created in the % drive_c%/AppLocationDir/Reasources/Temp, is - it here the part of the insulation of the ini file comes into play?

    Sorry will close it. Found the underlying problem. Had to delete and recreate the structure of folders inside visual Studio. Rebuilt and Rethinapped and after it worked well. Thanks for the suggestions!

    If you use the installation program (running in a Windows command window) command line, instead of install by double-clicking the EXE file, you can set various options, including the installation mode.

    Anyone tried VoIP applications under thinapp?

    I tried CounterPath X-lite, and it seems that the sound is not work porperly. ring bell is laggy and once the conversation is started, only some spots are listening...

    I also tried our product (VoIP) to try thinapp compatibility and I have the same experience and I've seen no hints for thinapp and VoIP.

    If someone manages to thinapp VoIP application, I'll be happy to have a few entries.

    It affects all VOIP applications and some other applications like Firefox.

    As a solution, relink or resume the app with 4.6.2
