ThinInstaller default on T500

I have ThinInstaller in my environment (SCCM with UpdateRetriever), but it has stopped working for our models of T500. As far as I can see 'all' the other models I have are working very well... (I ' v so far tested T60, T61 and S20)

Tasksequence thininstaller software works very well. And I can't be running the thininstaller works great too, each update of the ThinInstaller is to settle.

However on my models T500 something "breaks" and the customer (?) SCCM stops sending updates on the SCCM server...

Something in the installation of ThinInstaller must break the communication with my SCCM server... Anyone?

Cause:

Share corrupt TVUR (.xml files)

Solution:

Reinstalled TVUR (Updateretriever) on the server and downloaded all the updates.

PS. : I tried to import the updates, but the error is still there. I had to download all updates from Lenovo. One bright side updates now take 8GB instead of 13 GB so I saved a HD space

  • T500 completely scrambled discrete graphics

My T500 has developed a serious problem with the video of the graphic interface is completely corrupt.

I tried on the features of dual screen with my L170p monitor. As I used it, I noticed a video corruption, particularly on applications slipped between the views. Finally, I decided that it is not really me anyway, and so I minimized the 2 display resolution (800 x 600) and disabled the option "extend my Windows desktop on this monitor.

However, corruption has continued and I decided to restart it. However, before I could, the machine gave a BSOD that was mostly unreadable. Reboot, the Windows XP splash screen was also altered; I tried to use the Fn + F7 to switch to the external display, but it was no better. Try to connect fingerprint BSOD machine'ed - this text is unreadable, but I saw the word '' parity '' in there. From this point, it went from bad to worse. Connect the external display and try to get the BIOS with the F1 to the ignition, I could see a text there, but it is mostly illegible and overlapping with lots of video noise and the vertical bars cyan, flashing boxes of all colors, etc..

Somehow, I managed to do enough to get the BIOS to switch to the built-in graphics card and was able to boot Windows and install the Intel graphics driver, so the machine is little functional again.

However, go back to "discrete graphics" gives the same problem: no video on the internal LCD screen, only scrambled on the external monitor. If I allow Windows to start with discrete graphics, TI BSOD with an unreadable screen for the most part, but it seems to speak to shut down Windows to avoid damaging the material and the word 'conflict' is here, too.

Configuration: T500 type 2081-CTO, 4 GB RAM, Windows XP SP 3, fully updated with drivers

Display of the BIOS settings (all other settings are default):

    Main default video device: internal

    Initializing display: Thinkpad LCD

: Initially graphics discrete graphics, now integrated Graphics

OS detection for switchable graphics: disabled

I wondered if the bi-ecrans mapped configuration somehow ATI video RAM so that it comes into conflict with the top of that 4 GB of RAM. Remove a 2 GB DIMM has not helped. However, once the machine has restarted successfully with Windows, the ATI driver has not been loaded (as the discreet graphics card has been disabled) and so perhaps all that has been mapped has not been not mapped? However, I expect memory graphic mapping be reset to zero at the start anyway. And since the video is so completely that screwed up at startup, it is resembling more a permanent hardware failure, in which case the machine back under warranty.

Are there any other suggestions on how to proceed?

The machine came back last Friday - the technology has replaced the video chip, as well as the keyboard, for some reason any. He had also installed Vista x 64; I tried to learn to love it, I really have, but after a few days, I have decided that the benefits outweigh the problems of compatibility, I got with my (admittedly old) version of Lotus Notes. So I reinstalled XP Pro and everything is now back to normal - although I'm not willing to try the external chart again on this machine.

  • T500 operating at maximum speed

My t500 runs at full speed or a little more at 2926 mhz acording to AIDA64 while on battery. This makes the laptop run hot and battery life. I have reset the BIOs to maximize independence and then set as default. I even removed the battery cmos for a few hours and it will still not reverse this speed. The time sometimes run up to 85 degrees C. Now the Task Manager shows 0 to 15% with the use of less than 2 GB memory usage. It should be run at approximately 800 mhz on battery. That's what my wife T500 then runs only on battery. They both have 9 batteries.

I see two options to try:

    1. check your BIOS version

  • Cannot get T500 to display on the external monitor

    Hello
I'm running Windows 7 on a ThinkPad T500 (type 2082.BSG), and I'm having problems after have recently updated my display on the Lenovo site software (read the list of installed software, I think that the installation of the software that is the cause of the problem is "ThinkPad features video [AMD switchable Graphics (M8x)] for Windows 7 [32/64 bit] ') version 8.752.4 - 101022 a-107489C-Lenovo). Before the update my computer has guessed what display is active (laptop screen or external monitor) and used the active display. For example, when the laptop is docked and the cover closed he used the external monitor. After the update when the laptop is connected and the lid is closed, I can't display on the external monitor. I have to open the lid and use the Fn + F7 to get the display on the external monitor. Can anyone tell me please what settings should I use to get the old behavior.

    Kind regards

The previous is an old post, but as there was no response, and I recently solved the problem, I write in case someone else runs into the same problem.

After having encountered the problem I restored the factory default driver (which does not show the problem). However, lately I received another message to the effect that it is recommended to install Lenovo "Thinkpad video Features (AMD Switchable Graphics...). ...". I installed the software but the problem described in my original message reappeared. However, this time, the software of (the age AMD) had a "driver update" option and my video material is correctly recognized and the correct driver has been downloaded from the AMD website, after which the problem described in my original post disappeared.

I tried running driver audio windows 7 from lenovo, in a first time website, it did not work and gave one did not find a MEDIA device error, but putting all the files in a folder, he did run but there is no device in the selection box and it cost have no effect.

I tried to update all lenovo updates and installs all updates of windows with several charges. Everything I did I did as an administrator and no matter, I'm completely unable to get some kind of audio device installed.

Hi and welcome to the forum Jared!

Try to put the default BIOS settings.

Also, try to boot from a LiveCD of any popular linux distribution like Ubuntu, LInux etc. If you get also sound under linux, this is probably a hardware problem.

  • T500 WXGA + LCD screen adjustment challenges

Someone has any advice of setting LCD display for a T500 with 1680 x 1050 screen and Intel 4500HD GPU? I'm making adjustments in the Intel Graphic Media Accelerator Driver Panel. I am running Vista Home Basic.

A number of programs, different as Calibreze start by you calibration setting the contrast to maximum. When I do that it washes out the screen so I back off on the contrast and try to go through the ordeal, but the result is gaps in the color saturation. I'm still frustrated by the video settings on the same control panel button. When I change the settings here it seems to have an effect on the small test photos provided in the setting window. It has no effect on the screen itself. I found a bunch of Vista color management options, but I have no idea where to start with these. Finally, I tried to find a guide to the user for but came up with nothing. Does anyone know where to find one?

It left me wondering why I didn't just buy a computer with a dedicated graphics card.

    Hi Doublej,

You don't say what your purpose by adjusting your screen. If it is to have a monitor really calibrated in terms of photo editing, then I recommend that you just give up on the screen of the laptop in all cases and using an external monitor. The external monitor must be of type IPS, MVA, or PVA (Wikipedia / Google these if you're not familiar with them) If a flat screen or a (gasp!) CRT. All these options are expensive, except the obsolete CRT. Just about every screen of the laptop these days and flat screens more external too use TN technology, which is excellent for the game (fast response time), but total rubbish for angles of vision and the accuracy of the colors. Don't believe me? Load a color picture on your laptop, then try looking at slightly above, slightly below Center of Center, left of Center and right of Center. See color changes and brightness? How can possibly calibrate you that? (You can not - there is no way to always look exactly the same angle the screen, even if you can place your head perfectly, your eyes see different parts of the screen from different angles.) A good external monitor will give you as much better contrast ratios (brighter areas / dark).

After getting a decent monitor, it's always a good idea to calibrate it. (I saw some Dell monitors and Apple come pretty close without calibration and others who were the way out of default calibration.) The calibrator screen X-Rite i1 display 2 comes with the easy to use for Windows and Mac calibration software. (Other calibrators can be just as good, but I haven't used it so don't know).

The online monitor Test FlatPanelsDK is ideal for a quick visual check of calibration of your screen.

One last thing: discrete graphics have No. color calibration advantage over your beautiful card Intel integrated graphics.

  • Re: R400/T400/T500/W500: display driver crashes "amdkmdap."

I just installed Windows 7 yesterday and of course, he had problems with this video card. I have a T500, bought in March of this year.

Everything worked fine after installing Windows 7. The problem was when I installed the video driver from Windows Update. The screen initially showed only the wallpaper after installation, and after that reboot the screen would just be black, showing only a cursor. I saw a few posts where someone said that this is because Windows thinks that a projector is installed, so you must press the button of the window + P, and then the right arrow, then enter. But I have not tried. I'm sick of this dang hacking video card!

Someone was able to get the card works well under Windows 7? Now I'm running it with just the default driver, which works fine until I try to connect an external monitor (it doesn't let me extend my screen).

If you have installed the driver Thinkpad Hotkey and OSD, you must disable autorun of the on-screen display program. The symptoms you describe are a bit like mine with the same problem

  • Dilemma affects of T500 2242 ENTER/TAB

    Hello everyone,

I have a user in our Marketing Department that uses a T500 2242 with a mini docking station with a very particular problem with their laptop.

Whenever the user will connect - (Windows XP Pro SP3) (joined to a domain, run Win Server 2 k 3) (32-bit platforms) must reboot several times before getting the answer to her enter or tab and the key that decides to faint is random, but eventually became the two.

Is there Lenovo hotkeys that trigger this or something?  Even when connecting her keyboard USB wireless mouse, it has these questions, about the third party keyboard and mouse!

There is something a miss here.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you all!

    Hello

I saw a similar situation with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, which could not properly connect to the system.

The fix was to restart BIOS (load defaults) and in one case also BIOS udate.

Press Enter and TAB, it could be something strange. If you have time to test it, then try to start mode (press F6 on the system) and check if also here is the same situation.
If this isn't the case, then there is another application of blocking, or from my own experience I can say that this could be an application, loading and 'run' in a timeout error.

Then surelly also check that everything is set up for the start.

    See you soon

  • Does anyone have an index of the default locations of pilot...?

Can someone help please with an index of the default driver on T500s localities?

As provided, machines have a C:\Drivers\ folder containing the subfolders masses more with names that don't talk much to the uninitiated.

I'm up a machine for purposes of software development and get loads of messages "Found" new material...  I have received a copy of this record rigged up to the machine on removable media, but don't know which location to choose for what piece of hardware, for example 'SM Bus Driver' - which folder is the driver for it in?

By default, the drivers Lenovo, applications, and the OSFixes are in the c:\swtools folder. Drivers extracted by default the web downloadable to c:\drivers.

  • T500 bios which versions? flashing or not?

    Hello lenovo community users.

I have a questions about my t500 bios.

When do you need to level or to Flash your bios?

I flashed once, but I don't really know why and if it has done anything.

can I upgrade the bios back to default settings?

    Thanks for a response

Generally, you don't have a need to Flash your bios unless the changelog lists a fix for a problem you are having, or if you are instructed to do so by technical support.

On the other hand, I always keep my systems until the current level more by habit, on workstations where you frequently upgraded hardware or processors, it is should be always running the latest bios.  On laptops, which is not the case, since the material is relatively static.

  • Change the setting of appropriate on T500 power

I have a T500 with Windows 7. When the machine is on battery, rather than the socket, he returned to the login screen after only one or two minutes of non-use. I would like to increase this time, or set up so that the machine remains active, but cannot see that Power Manager settings to change; They seem to all be configured adequately. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thank you very much.

I'm not a sysadmin, but have you checked your screen saver settings?  Often, they are configured by default to display a blank screen and evict you on-screen log during recovery.

  • Can I change the default folder for new documents Pages?

When I run the application Pages, the first thing I see is a Finder window. For some reason, this Finder window invariably opens, not with the Documents folder, but in a specific subfolder of the folder images. Sometimes I use this folder as source for the photos that I insert into documents, but I don't want to see this folder every time I run the application Pages.

How can I control this behavior? I see nothing in the preferences page to set a default value.

When you launch Pages, you will be presented with a file picker (not the actual Finder). The left sidebar will be a folder of Documents, you must select. At this point, you can simply stop Pages. He will remember to open in the last selected folder and on the content of the Document folder, you will see a file chooser. As long you open, edit, save, or export documents in the Documents folder, it will remember this folder.

If you change the location of the folder memory, whether it is in the file picker, or save or export to another location of the folder, and then the next launch of Pages will direct you to the last used folder location and not the location of the Documents folder.

There is no user parameter which can be set to always override the behavior of Pages above.

  • Numbers 4.0 - Bug with default date when entering the time alone?

I've just updated to 4.0 numbers after upgrade to Mac OS Sierra and met with what seems to be a bug.

Previously when I enter a time in the format hh: mm in a cell that has the format of Date and time, it would create the date date of the day, because none has been provided explicitly. It is the behavior expected according to this support article:

If you do not enter a date and a time, Numbers adds a default value for you. For example, if you type '13:15 ', Numbers adds today's date by default.

What happens now in numbers 4.0 for me when I get home just a moment, is that it gives me 01/01/2016 as the date, which is a huge pain, because I rely on the fact that the date is (or should be) today's date by default when you enter data in my spreadsheet and right now that means I have to manually change each date by hand to be released today.

All confirm that this behavior occurs in numbers 4.0 (Build 3507)?

    Thank you

    Michael

Here is what I get here after typing 13:15 in numbers 4.0 under Sierra:

I left the Format of data in automatic mode, but get the same result when the format Date and time.

It might have something to do with your region settings in system preferences (I'm using the default values for the United States).

Have you tried numbers, reboot and try in a document of closing costs?

  • How can I change a default contact number to send messages

Some of my contacts have more than 1 number of cells. In the new IOS, the first time I click on the "Send message" icon, he asked me what number I want to send your message. Next time, it will automatically use the number I chose. But if I chose the wrong number, I can't find a way to reset, and then select a new number of 'send nessage' by default.

I thought about it. Open the contact, make a pressure farm (3D touch) click the 'send message '. It opens a menu where you can select the default number.

Unfortunately I don't have time capsule implemented so I don't think I can go back in time and reset for a first date... or can I?
