ThinkPad E530 press

When I use the touch pad and do my finger from right to left right next to the button on the right side, I get a pop-up taskbar with shows of things like: search, share, start, devices and settings as well as the date and time.

How can I disable this feature?  When you use the touch pad, I often accidentally cause this pop up and it's really annoying.

Thank you.

Ok then. No idea why you do not have the item to change.

The research of the community, I came across this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8/How-to-get-rid-of-Charm-bar/m-p/1024885, but it involves some registry changes, so reason for caution if you decide to try.

If all goes well, someone else will see this thread and be able to offer further advice. Sorry I can't offer more.

Kind regards.

  • ThinkPad E530: Windows 8 COA sticker missing

Recently, I bought Thinkpad E530 mobile computer with Windows 8 Pro installed. However, I did not receive installation disc and there was no COA sticker anywhere. I also checked under the battery. The seller says something like "it's something new with Windows 8 and sticker is no longer necessary.

I tried first to get assistance on Microsoft website, but after entering Windows 8 PID I learned that I would have to pay for it, because my copy is supported by Lenovo.

Contacting Lenovo has proved to be a challenge. I was just unable to find a way to do online. Only way seems to be by phone and:

    1. I'm not willing to pay for international calls

    2. I want, a written confirmation, so I put pressure on my seller

So, I really need to know, how to communicate with Lenovo and ask two things:

    1. How can I install media?

    2. How can I get the key of Windows 8 (for example to install the new copy) and the COST is really more provided.

    Thank you in advance.

    Correct COST is over supplied.

If you want to learn more about the PID, see http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/windows-8-product-key.htm

I have a TechNet subscription, so I have no problems with getting ISOs for Windows 8 Pro (which I'm available for). Once you get the correct version, you should be able to install the operating system without even having to enter the product key.

  • a way to control the speed of the fan of thinkpad E530?

Did anyone here know how to control the speed of the fan of the Thinkpad E530.

ATM I'm not sure if my laptop fan is noisy or not sideways, but I prefer if it was a little more quiet/silent.

All possible ways? SpeedFan CUS does not work for me

    -Hardy

    Hey Hardy.

Yes, because when you set your PM to make your all the lowest settings help you can. For example, if you look under your CPU system settings is set to low, with the other settings to reduce the amount of heat that would reduce the need of fan work as well or at a higher rate.

Also, with some versions of the power under Advanced Settings Manager, you will find political cooling system.

  • Is it possible to use the F5 key without pressing Fn on Thinkpad E530

    Hello

I need to use the F5 button a lot, but every time I have to press the aswell key Fn. would it possible to modify the key F5 parameters and how?

There are 2 ways to do this:

    1. in Start menu, type "Keyboard" and choose the keyboard option that appears under 'Control Panel'.  There is a "ThinkPad F1 - F12 keys" tab, and you can change the choice of "Legacy" to use the F1 - F12 keys as standard function keys you want.

    2. restart the system and press ENTER to the ThinkPad logo screen.  Then press F1 to access the BIOS Setup.  In the "Config" menu, choose "keyboard and mouse".  Change the option "Change to the F1 - F12 keys" to "Legacy".  Press F10 to save and exit.

  • ThinkPad E530 Max RAM upgrade

    Hi all

    My laptop is E530 and Corei5 3210 TM processor @ 2.5 GHz.

    The tech specs here says:

Ivy Bridge compatible DDR3 and DDR3L. But you can buy DDR3L (1.35v support) for the extra battery life, it gives you.

Also note that when you buy a module of memory for your laptop, you buy a SODIMM and not a bar of MEMORY. Modules DIMM is longer and does not fit into a laptop. SODIMM is made for laptops.

Note that if you have doubts, you can call technical support and they can understand all of this for you. Or you can buy the memory from the link I posted above.

If you have a DDR3 module installed and you insert a DDR3L module, both will run to DDR3 specifications. The module DDR3L simply starts to operate at a higher voltage.

  • ThinkPad E530: Need help using the Windows 7 recovery partition

    Nice day.

Everything I've read, so far, is that it is not possible to do something with the remnants of the recovery partition now that Windows 10 'touched' the system.

A way to return to your original OEM image would be to contact the applicant recovery DVD and Support (info below). There may be a cost of handling.

    Kind regards.

  • Fingerprint reader does not react anymore while the software seems to work (Thinkpad E530 Windows 10)

I used logg in via the reader of fingerprints (windows 10) with no problems, now the fingerprint reader does not react anymore when I pull the finger. I managed to remove all the passwords in the password manager (still not sure about it as I don't really understand how all the components work together) hoping that would solve the problem. Not the fingerprint reader software keeps asking me to register a new finger. Everything seems to work fine (I can pick a finger to be registered, type my password windowns) until I asked me to draw the finger on the fingerprint reader: nothing happens! The indicator that shows how the finger was scanned shows nothing at all. Looks like the software works, but the fingerprint reader itself is dead. However, looking into the information system the "TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor' (WBF mode advanced) seems to work fine.

Help, please. I don't have any idea how to find out what's not here.

Thank you very much for the tip! He works in fact :-). Even if it does not seem logical to me, as I never put it in place a front pin - and fingerprint reader work very well even without PIN code. But who cares - the main thing is it works now! So thanks a lot again :-)!

  • ThinkPad E530 (3259) - no Hibernate after clean install

    Hello

I have problem with my laptop. After a clean instalation of win7 64 bit, instalation of all drivers with lenovo update and windows update is the Hibernate option behaves in a strange way.

The screen goes black, but the computer still works and when I start moving with the mouse, it shows me the login screen. So basically it just disconnects me: /.

I tried to install the latest drivers for Chipset, graphics card, Bios... the cmd option: powercfg-h is turned on... nothing is and I'm getting desperate :/ I've also updated driver and soft powr Manager.

    Someone knows what to do?

If anybidy will have the same problem, this is what helped me at the end (after the long struggle )

When I used shutdown-h command system just connect me off and grey screen. Then cmd has been:

system cannot find the specified file (2)

    solution is very simple:

    set the active boot partition

Go to control panel-> administration-> computer management tools-> Storage-> disk management
And make sure the system reserved partition is an asset.

  • ThinkPad Edge E530 BIOS

I've updated my (initially Windows 7 equipped) Thinkpad E530 to the latest version of the BIOS version 2.55.

    I also installed Windows 8.1 x 64 on it.

My question is: can I use the "OS Optimized Defaults" in BIOS or not?

In the BIOS install descriptions, it is said to use the optimized default OS on a pre-installed Windows 8 (x 64) machine, and to use the ordinary default values on a Windows 7 preinstalled machine.
But my computer was a machine 7 pre-installed, but is now running Windows 8 x 64. If the default values should I charge?

    Kind regards
    Psycho

    Hello

    Thank you for your reply,

To use the system with "Default values of the optimized operating system", you have reinstall the Windows 8 operating system after allowing optimized OS default "values. If you change the format of disk partition HARD operating system will not work.

I hope this helps. Post back if the problem persists!

  • Billboard change E530 with a better

Hi all, I have a Thinkpad E530 which has a billboard 1366 x 768. Unfortunately, this resolution began to be low for my use (some applications don't even get into the screen entirely!), so I'm looking for a sign of resolution higher (like 1600 x 900 or 1920 x 1080). This is possible, or the new screen would not work?

You should be able to exchange the display for an expecially of a higher resolution, because this laptop comes with the upper panels of res. Do some google research around this formum community and also other sites such as forum.notebookreview.com and that should help you get started.

Here are a few links. It's the kind of information you are going to have to understand if you want to do.

http://www.hwinfo.com - you need to find your current Panel info

An example of potential problems, don't think that you will have this problem however.

    http://Forum.NotebookReview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/705962-1600x900-possible-OV...

You will find the info on this site screen. Note that this is not necessarily the right panel :-)

    http://www.LaptopScreen.com/English/model/IBM-Lenovo/ThinkPad~W540/

Site of nested with Info Panel. Don't forget - this isn't the right panel probably - just an example

  • Update E530

Before you buy a new E530, I want to assure you that specific things can be upgraded.

First of all, I want to make sure I can get a mini dual band PCI-E card. I know there is a list somewhere, but I don't know where he is and you want to use a wireless adapter that people have had experience with anyway, so I figure I might as well just ask.

Second, I need to make sure that I can move the battery to a 9 cells after purchase. I know that you can not buy it with a 9 cell, but I would like to be able to upgrade to one.

You can get the 9 cell battery. The 9-cell on the T420 and T520 would work on the E520 and ThinkPad E530.

No option of double band for the wireless.

  • E530 - i7-3612QM - Vt - d support?

    Hello

the thinkpad E530 could be delivered with a core i7-3612QM. This processor are available in two versions, one with the support of Vt - d without him.

Do you know if E530 with the core i7 is ok for Vt - d?

    Hello

VT - d support depends first of all on the main motherboard chipset.

The Intel HM77 chipset built on the edge of 530 with i7-3612QM has no VT - d support.

So even if the i7 processor supports the MB does not work.

Yes you have a Crucial M4 mSATA installed get.

The WWAN/mSATA slot exist under the small door under the ThinkPad E530 Edge. All the ThinkPad E530 has a slot WWAN/mSATA, different model numbers are just different options and features.
