Time Capsule 802.11ac airport fan is always on

For two days my Airport Time Capsule 802.11ac 3 TB - Version 7.7.3 fan works verry strong and amber light flashing ist.

AirPort Utility reports the status "this device could be overheating.

All functions of the time Capsule works fin (internet LAN/WLAN, hard drives - Time Machine backup)

Normal temperature just from device ist. Only the fan runs at maximum speed

When I reboot then TimeCapsule the light is green for a few seconds. The fan works silently. After that, the fan went up to maximum speed and light is orange flashing.

How can I reduce the speed of the fan?

The Capsule is defective and needs replacement. Please bring the product to an Apple Store... If you have one near you... or contact the Apple Support directly.

  • My old Airport Extreme 802.11n will work well with my new Time Capsule 802.11ac airport?

I got a new 802.11ac 3 TB time capsule and I would use my Airport Extreme 802.11n as an Extender but I fear that 802.11n is too old technology.

No, it will be fine. I have the same setup on my network. Whenever I update my AirPort Extreme, I use the 'old' to expand the network throughout the House.

I hope that answers your question.

I disabled IPv6 on the suggestion of the counsel of COX because Cox and Apple have a problem with these capsules of time regarding IPv6 and IPv4 is supposed to work.

It is a question of cox or should my time capsule service?

  • Upgrading airport Time Capsule 802.11ac one again 4th gen

Thanks for any help, networking makes me nervous.

I found this link to set up Time Capsule for the first time, https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201510.

I would appreciate any advice on how to make the new airport as the old look to all our devices (so the transition is transparent).

Should I name the new airport the same as the old? Or is it problematic?

(BTW, is the name of the TC airport the same as the name of the network?)

Also, I want to set up a network of comments. Is there a setting that I need to select during installation (not mentioned in the technical support article)?

Read it here in the forums that it is better to start again with our backups and keep the old TC for a while just to be sure things back up ok.

Later, could I wipe the old TC (t 3, a square flat) and use as an Extender if we need to end it more away from home?

We have two MacBook Pro on 10.11.2 (a week w / backups inherited from the next two of MBP), two running 10.10.5 and the other on 10.4.

We connect our TC Airport to a FIOS modem via ethernet cat-6 located in the same room but 11 feet more far.

Take one of your MBP and run the airport utility.

It should detect the new TC with her working in the same room as the old TC... just plugged into the wall.

    1. click on the

    2. the installation wizard runs.

    3. by default, it will choose to extend the existing TC in wireless... Click the more Options button in the lower left corner. And change the selection

    Replace an existing device.

    4. the rest is pretty well automagical. Choose what you replace.

    5. choose the right network... Mine is perhaps more complicated because I have too many things.

    6. you can correct the name... and continue from there... I do not go any further because I didn't do it.

It will automatically change the original TC back to the default settings... Once you are finished it will tell you to remove the old TC and replace it with a new one.

But you yourself are more disturbing...

The TC is easy to install and can be done without hassle.

Implementation of TM is a lot more the problem.

And Yes, we recommend that you start a new clean TM backup for each computer... do one at a time once you have completed the installation.

  • What is the best way to connect a time capsule from the airport to an existing dsl router?

I have a Netgear D6300 router with built-in ADSL modem and I'm getting a time capsule from the airport. I thought to put the D6300 in Bridge mode and connect the TC via a ethernet cable but my netgear router is kept in a metal TV armoire or I asked myself if I put on the floor and used to extend my existing wireless which is a little spotty on the floor, but I didn't know if the connection on the hard drive would be too slow. However I read in another post is no longer that apple supports the extension of networks of "no apple"?

The time Capsule will connect to the Netgear router using a wired Ethernet cable connection, permanent... no matter how you decide to configure things.

Regarding the location, Time Capsule can be located just about anywhere that it will allow an Ethernet connection. If you want to time Capsule to "extend" the wireless Netgear, and then configure the time Capsule to create a new wireless network that uses the exact same wireless network name and password than the Netgear router. The result will be a network of 'big '.

Should be a lot more work, but assuming that the Netgear gateway can be configured to work as only a simple modem, the Capsule can be configured as the primary network router.

  • Time capsule works bur airport utility cannot find it

    Hello world

I have a weird problem with my Time Capsule (2 TB) 2015

I have the TC connected by ethernet to a modem, and it is plugged into my mac mini (cable as well)

The TC works very well, it is accessible from the Finder, Time Machine works fine and all my devices can browse the internet via the TC wifi network.

Airport utility, that the TC is shown as connected with a green dot, however when I try to access the settings of TC, that the system requires a password and when I entered it nothing happens. If I click on the TC once again, I get a requirement pw again. Once I do this once or twice, the TC greys out on airport utility and I get the message "device not found" with the yellow triangle.

Despite this, the TC is always accessible from the Finder, the wifi works and Time machine is ok.

Tries to access the site of the iPad or the iPhone displays the same behavior, the utility will continue to ask for a password and it won't let me.

I did a reset of the TC by pressing the reset button and it worked fine for 24 hours, after which the above problem happened again.

So I did another reset and even once, he worked for a while, but now I'm at square one.

Is that what is anyone able to help?

    Thank you

    ALE

AirPort Utility is based on both the mDNS (aka, Hello) and IPv6 IP protocols to find an AirPort base station.

When access to the airport through the AirPort Utility, try the following, in order, accessibility with the utility check after each step:

    • Check the local connection. If you try to access the airport wireless, make sure that you are connected to its wireless network before running the AirPort Utility to administer it. If you are still unable to access it with the utility, temporarily connect your computer directly using an Ethernet cable to one of the base station's LAN ports.
    • Make sure that the base station and your computer are configured for IPv6 link-local only.
      • For a Mac: System preferences > network > Wi - Fi or Ethernet > advanced > TCP/IP tab > configure IPv6: link-local only
      • For the AirPort Base Station:
        • From a Mac: AirPort Utility > select the base station > change > Internet tab > Internet Options... > configure IPv6: link-local only
        • Since an iOS device: AirPort Utility > tap the base station > press Edit > tap Advanced > tap on IPv6 > change configure IPv6 to: link-local only > Tap actually
    • The base station power cycle. Remove the power branch of the socket adapter and then wait 15 seconds before plugging back in.
    • Perform a ' default ' reset on the base station.
  • Problems of ' 09 Time Capsule to the Airport Extreme upgrade

I with success the setup a new Airport Extreme (AE) and I want to continue to use my Time Capsule (TC) 2009 as a backup drive. However, I have questions. What is the right way to implement these devices to play nice?

I have currently the modem ethernet fall on the AE WAN ethernet. Then I have another ethernet cable connecting the AE LAN ethernet in the TC WAN.

In addition, I have the TC Network Mode as 'OFF' and his router Mode as 'Off (Bridge Mode).

    Is everything is OK?

All correct so far.  Also check the Internet tab to ensure that the TC is to connect using DHCP = AirPort Utility.

At this point, what other problems are live you?

  • Problem of Time Capsule Roaming Network airport

I'm having a problem by establishing a network of roaming.  When I plug my extender devices in ethernet cables through a switch to my Time Capsule base station, my wifi signal drops 150 + MBS next to the base station to < 10 mbs.

I have a wifi in my home network based on a new time Capsule airport base station (ATCBS) running firmware c. 7.7.7.  I have my 4th gen AEBS & a 2nd gen Airport express both race v. 7.6.7 updated firmware in place in Bridge mode to extend my network in different rooms in my house. The system works very well, but I wanted to increase the power of the signal in remote places so decided I would like to convert it to a mobile network by installing ethernet cables to connect my ATCBS the AEBS and express extensions.  I use a switch Netgear 5 port (NOT of GS205-100) that I only have a single LAN fanless available left port on my ATCBS.

I installed 3 ethernet lines-1 each in rooms with my ATCBS and airport express using mounting wall punch down taken using the convention of wiring 568B, AEBS.  These lines all end with male plugs in a unique space in the basement and are also wired as 568B.  Then I plug the ATCBS, AEBS and express lines in the switch in this remote area.

I've done a few connection cables in the role of Cat 6 cable, I had over the House, and they all very well with my cable Tester check so I know the cable itself is not defective.  The cables all run in the basement where I can see, so I know there is not any problem to be crimped/damaged.  I have not any gear to test the installed well son.  I visually inspected the male and female (punchdown) ends to ensure that colors are properly prepared.  I did a test of my jacks punchdown conductivity by testing 8 wires on the sides of the socket and the pins in gold on the inside where an ethernet cable connecting between the cut ends.  All wires are correctly leads to the appropriate pins.

If I plug just the ATCBS into the switch next to him and using a good patch cable I see no change in the strength of the Wifi.  If I can plug my express (also moved to the room of the base station) using another cable good patch in the switch, wifi drops as described above.  If I plug the ATCBS on the new socket and the switch at the other end - no change in force wifi.  If I plug the express in its remote location system also uses the new ethernet cable installed for him and passing through the switch, I get the wifi signal reduction.  I get the same result if I take the express up to thevbasemenbt and plulg the switch with a connecting cable).  It seems therefore that the problem may not be with the newly installed cables that I get the same result by using or by using cables good patch, and with the switch in the same room with the ACTBS.  It doesn't matter how I'm trying to connect all the devices together, plug extender devices into the system brings the WiFi falling to almost nothing.

Any ideas on what could happen?

I'm having a problem by establishing a network of roaming.  When I plug my extender devices in ethernet cables through a switch to my Time Capsule base station, my wifi signal drops 150 + MBS next to the base station to < 10 mbs.

That's what happens when you initially set up the device to the airport "extend" using a wireless signal... and then later connect an Ethernet cable to the unit of the airport.

Since the airport is configured to connect wireless and waiting for a wireless connection, the Ethernet connection and then creates a feedback loop massive on the entire network... in fact, basically crashed the network.

Basically, you have to start over again with the AEBS and AirPort Express and "Apple Installation Wizard" to set things upward. It's practically automatic. All you need to do is assign a device name to each airport and the wizard supports all the rest.

After the back if you need some advice on how to correctly configure things.  You can be amazed at how simple, it comes... and surprised by the wizard settings apply.

  • ICan I use Time Capsule in my Airport extreme to save files Ihave on my windows7 computer?

How can I configure my Airport extreme, time capsule 3 to use the portion of the time capsule for the backup of my Sony VAIO computer?

You can back up a windows computer to Time Capsule but I do not recommend.

Any backup software that can use target network should work.

Macrium Reflect is the one I use, I know the Time Capsule works.

Time line of engineering is a concept similar to Time Machine for PC... It's more that I want to make, but it doesn't seem to be a free version... How good or bad or I do not know what limits.

Internal backup software MS is generally useless... at least up to win 8.1 10.

NOTE... A USB connected to the laptop computer and formatted NTFS native is far superior to backup to TC which is formatted HFS + (illegible for windows) which is networked that the SMB protocol and treaded as NT server with all its limitations with FAT32.

Hello I have a problem with my Time Capsule 802.11ac airport

I was using it OK but after that I got a new modem from my ISP I can't connect to internet

Can someone tell me what is happening?

Any time that you change your network hardware, it's always a good idea to carry out a new round of full power of this hardware. Check out the following Tip of an airport users for more details. Please post back your results.

  • TWC Modem/Router-with Apple Time Capsule extreme

Can someone find me on this configuration?

I'm trying to improve the coverage of the WiFi in my house and I'm trying to do so via an ethernet connection to two Capsules of time separate Apple.  One is an airport Time Capsule 802.11n (3rd generation/Firmware 7.6.4) and the other is a Time Capsule 802.11ac Airport (7.73 firmware).

I have a Time Warner cable wireless modem/router (Arris 860 has TG1672G). The configuration in the network for NAT settings is "RoutedWithNAT". I'm going out this modem/router via a ZyXel AV2000 HomePlug AV2 Powerline Gigabit Pass-Thru 2-port Ethernet Adapter (I have no ethernet strung in this particular room) in the AC of the Apple Time Capsule 802.11.  The configuration for that Time Capsule is Mode/Off/network wireless and network /Router Mode / Off (Bridge Mode).  The other Time Capsule has the same configuration.

That is the question... is the right way to get faster WiFi?  I realize by using the Homeplug may not help my cause, but I have to guess that it is faster to go wireless two correct time Capsules?

The issue I'm having is that it's slow and I can't understand why.

Thank you for the kind words.

I wanted to add a few things to this post...

I tested out the ZyXel ethernet to my MacBook Pro and ran a Speedtest.  He retired.  Very fast.

Here are the screenshots of my two time Capsules config and my modem/router from Time Warner.

In the meantime, here is the speed I get via radio... pretty dismal.

The guarantee to the United States on the Time Capsule is 1 year and 2 years in a number of other countries. Apple will replace the device for you.  If the Capsule is longer under warranty but you have AppleCare implemented on one of your Macs, the time Capsule is still covered in this framework up to 3 years from the date of purchase of the time Capsule.

If the Capsule is not covered, ask Apple to replace the device for you in any case.  If they won't, then unfortunately you yourself, because Apple does not offer repairs or spare parts for the time Capsule. If you are a DIY kind of person, you can open the Capsule and clean the fan or replace the fan. Hello.  Every night my wi - fi breaks down.  I called Comcast and they swear the internet connection works and routers are the problem. (Internet works with a wired connection).

I have 2 routers: Airport Time Capsule 802.11ac with a Terminal Airport Express 802.11n (2nd generation) in the range extender.  Both are about 1.5 years old.

In the evening, the lights flash yellow and they go in and out.  AirPort Utility often shows messages yellow triangle error.  I can unplug and restart them and often the wi - fi goes back only to go down again later.  In this case all evening.  Increases the frequency and duration of the outage.

If it is in fact a router problem, suggestions on how to solve the problems?

    Thank you very much!

What is the make & model of the Comcast Internet modem brings you your Time Capsule (TC) connected to via Ethernet? Where is the Terminal AirPort situated Express regarding the TC? Same room, another room or different floor? Are they connected by wire or wireless?
