To access the HP Support Assistant

Using HP G56 laptop, running Windows 7, just a few months

The Support Assistant screen opens fine, but none of the features are available, click on the icons, but nothing opens.

  • How can I temporarily disable the HP Support Assistant?

I have a laptop HP g6z with Win7 Pro (64-bit).  I often use the command line, but when I press F1 to retype the characters from the previous command, the HP Support Assistant appears.

I don't want to remove the Support Assistant, simply disable it temporarily.

    Thanks, Terry

You need not turn off the HP Support Assistant.

To reuse commands already typed on the just command line use the arrow, not the F1 key key!

Whenever you type it will travel the already typed commands. Stop at that you need.

This keyboard thing is used BACK for years.

Firstly, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant using Microsoft 'Fixit' at the following link: this is particularly useful for correcting problems that may prevent resettlement on the machines running a 64 bit OS.

Please try to uninstall, download of the last being and resettlement.

  • Problem with the HP Support Assistant software

I installed on my computer HP Support Assistant.  I did an update from the software, followed all the instructions, rebooted my system, and now when I go to open HP Support Assistant, I get an error message: HPSF.exe has stopped working.  I went out on the web site, HP Support Assistant, reinstalled HP Support Assistant, again followed all instructions, rebooted my system and still get the same error message.

My understanding of this... There is a compatibility issue. The problem here is that HP Support Assistant, is dependent on the HPSF (HP Software Framework) that need Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 to run - but Microsoft released the .NET Framework version 4, which is not compatible with the HPSF.

Someone else may have a better answer, but it is the root of the problem, as I understand it.

Basically two ways to go here - wait until that HP or Microsoft publishes updates to play well together... or, .NET Framework 4 to remove and install version 3.5 - and don't let not Windows Update works back up to Version 4.

  • My documents and downloads are coded, and now the HP Support Assistant has stopped working

First my 'docs' have been encrypted, now my downloads are encrypted and the "Support HP sat down. ' 'stopped working', when I try to open it, it is"encrypted", the '

Recovery Manager"is also encrypted. Message is: 'looking', but do not get a reply box to tell me what the problem is.  Now I'm so frustrated!

    Help, please!

    Carolyn

    Hi Carolyn,

    1. what operating system is installed on your computer?

    2. have you made any recent hardware or exchange of software on your computer before the show?

    3. you receive an error code or message?

    4. what exactly happens when you try to open my documents and file downloads?

    5. have you well any type of encryption, or if you are aware of what it is done on your computer?

What version of the operating system Windows am I running? :

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/help/which-version-of-the-Windows-operating-system-am-i-running

Please follow the steps and the link:

    Method 1:

    Decryption of a file:

    1. Right click on the file you want to decrypt, and then click Properties.
    2. Click Advanced.
    3. Click to uncheck the checkbox encrypt content to secure data to decrypt the data.
    4. Click OK to close the Advanced attributes dialog.
    5. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
    6. If the folder contains files that it contains, the confirm attribute changes dialog box appears. You can choose to decrypt only the folder. But it will decrypt all the files currently contained in the file.

If you want to decrypt the contents of this folder, click apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files, and click OK , then check the issue.

If you are still having the same problem, follow the next method.

    Method 2:

I suggest to start your computer in safe mode with network and run Microsoft Safety Scanner because it might be an unwanted virus.

    Step 1:

Start your computer in safe mode with network and check the number: http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

    Step 2:

Scan your computer by using the Microsoft Security Scanner by clicking Download now:

    http://www.microsoftsafetyscanner.com/

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    I hope this helps.

  • What is the latest version of the HP Support Assistant?

After my last review, I got a message to download the most recent version.  I 6.0.5.4 and it lasted 7 hours and has not completed so I cancelled it.  There was a message to download the latest version of the wizard of support, but after looking online, I think that I have the latest version, so I wanted to check.

My computer is the laptop Compaq CQ61-410US

    Windows 7/64-bit

    Thank you...

    Hi Christine,

I just downloaded the latest program after unpacking and installation, it seems that the version is listed as 6. 1 12. 1 - Although at a different place from the previous link, the file version for this download is noticed here.

However, as your current version seems to have problems with the update to it, this may indicate that there is a degree of corruption, so I suggest "Fixit" Microsoft running on the link below and allows you to uninstall the current version.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

When finished, restart the computer and then download and run the latest installer.

    Kind regards

  • My "Get Assistance" function does not work on the HP Support Assistant, so I ask here.

I have a desktop p7 - 1067c and am having problems with some hardware. The CD/DVD drive does not read disks and some keys on the keyboard do not work.

I replaced the keyboard with a keyboard Dell (smart card) and now a different key does not work. I also rebooted the computer hardware drivers and the windows driver and still no change. My HP does not allow me to download the Dell keyboard driver.

Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do next? Is this a hardware problem?

    My warranty is still valid.

  • HP15-ac103na: HP Support Assistant on the new laptop

    Hello

I have a new notebook HP15 running WIndows 10, so I'm new to all this.

The HP Support Assistant icon appeared in the taskbar with a double exclamation point on it.  When I move the mouse over it, it says "Significant action", but when I click it, there is nothing I can do.  HP Support Assistant window is disabled by a screen of welcome in front of her, and the next in the Welcome screen button is also disabled.  So I can choose my preferences to update etc, but I can't turn them on or go beyond the Welcome screen.

Is it me, or is there something wrong?

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about the problem of HP Support Assistant and wanted to help.

You can try to download the latest version of this page and see if it works: HP Support Assistant. HP® Official Site

But if that doesn't fix it, why not just let HP repair at our expense!

You must contact the HP Customer Support directly so they put you in contact with HP Tech Support to see what they can do on the diagnosis and repair of your machine remotely.

I did recently, and HP technology was able to remotely access my PC on the Internet and to make the necessary repairs.

  • Need help with the Support Assistant for TouchSmart 310

I tried to install the latest version of HP Support Assistant manually by searching on the HP customer service and it removed the previous version first. Nothing happened thereafter. I thought it would open HP Support Assistant after agreeing to terms and policies, but he did nothing. When I click on the HP Support Assistant icon, I get "year error occurred" on the very top of the page.  I am not in a position to make changes within the program - everything is gray.

I tried unistalling tune but I get a message stating: Error 1316 - a network error has occurred trying to read from the file c:\windows\installer\hp support assistant.msi. I tried to look for this file and have not found. I even typed in the search and was not able to find it so I am not able to uninstall it.

I've had this computer for a year now and have never been able to upgrade to the latest version of HP Support Assistant within the program. I'd get what your computer does not meet the minimum requirements and so I left it alone. The reason why I decided to manually update was because I have problems with the E: drive. And from what I read on HP, to see if I have a hard drive failed, I would need to run tests using HP Support Assistant, but unfortunately, I am not able to do this since I can't access HP Support Assistant.

    I have HP TouchSmart 310-1125f. Windows 7 64-bit.

    Hello

It is good to hear than the detected "Fixit" and was able to remove the existing installation of HPSA such as what can many fixed some of the problems that can prevent a new version installation correctly.

First, even if you always have the latest installer HPSA, download it again from the following link and save it in your downloads folder.

    HP Support Assistant.

One when you're done, open your download folder, click with the right button on the Setup, select Extract 7 - zip, select the files and then click Ok.  Open the new folder sp58919 snippet and see you another installer called Setup - this right click and select new, 7-zip, select extract files and then click Ok.  Open the new installation folder, the installation application ( 4th down with a size of 249KO ) right-click and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.

Did the full install now and if so, HPSA does work properly?

    Kind regards
