To connect to one router to another?

How can I configure my router (WRT54GL) wireless to connect to my wired router (BEFSX41)?    (I want to take advantage of the features found on the wired router). Static? How the wireless part would get an internet connection without running dhcp?

The first router is 192.168.1.1 with active DHCP. The internet port of the router first connects to the modem. The first router has an internet connection.

On the second router, unplug it from your network and connect one computer to one of the LAN ports. Then open the web interface at http://192.168.1.1/ on the main configuration page, change the address LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 and disable the DHCP server. Save the settings and unplug the computer.

Now one of the router LAN ports connect second to the first router. Do not use the internet port of the second router.

Now, all computers connected to the second router (wired or wireless) box access everything inside your local network and have internet through the first router. All connected computers can get a first router DHCP IP address.

    Hello

Can you connect to the router, if you disable WEP encryption?
In addition, WEP encryption is not safe and can be cracked in a few minutes, then you should choose another encryption WPA or WPA2.

In addition, I would recommend updating the driver WLAN. On the Toshiba site, you can find the most recent version.

What OS do you have? If you have Vista try disabling the WLAN card feature in Vista Power Management for energy savings.

  • Windows 7 Dell computer laptop connects to the router, but the internet connection is spotty/slow

I recently installed a new Comcast wireless gateway, which includes a built-in router.  My Ipod and Ipad work perfectly with this new router connection.  My Dell laptop, however, connects to the router without a problem, but it surfing the internet very slowly and sometimes can't access it at all.  The router connection remains strong during these periods of power failure, however.  I don't get online no problem when I connect directly to the router/modem with an Ethernet cable.  Network troubleshooting does not detect a problem, I have released/updated my IP address, and made sure I had updated drivers.  The issue still [persists.  Any input on what to try next?

    Hello Scot,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.

The description of the problem, I see that the Internet connection is very slow on the computer.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. We are here to help and guide you in the right direction.

Maybe there's a chance that some network settings, start services application or a third party or a security software restricted it to connect properly and is responsible for the internet connection is slow.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and see if it helps.

    Method 1

I suggest you try the procedure described in the following Microsoft Article and check if it helps.

Internet Explorer is slow? 5 things to try
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/Internet-Explorer/slow-five-tips-to-boost-performance

Warning: Reset the Internet Explorer settings can reset security settings or privacy settings that you have added to the list of Trusted Sites. Reset the Internet Explorer settings can also reset parental control settings. We recommend that you note these sites before you use the reset Internet Explorer settings.

    Method 2

If the problem persists, I suggest you to follow the steps described in the following Microsoft tutorial and see if it helps.

    Wireless and wired network problems

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/network-connection-problem-help#network-problems=Windows-7&V1H=win81tab1&V2H=win7tab1&V3H=winvistatab1&v4h=winxptab1

Why is my Internet connection so slow?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/why-Internet-connection-slow#why-Internet-connection-slow=Windows-7

    Method 3

If after performing more high question method persist, try to perform the clean boot and temporarily disable security software and then check the speed of the Internet.

Step 1: Perform the clean boot

Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us

Note: See "How to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as usual after a repair.

Step 2: Temporarily disable security software.

    Disable the antivirus

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attack.

    Method 4

Since then, the issue is not resolved by disabling the security software, Windows Firewall could be the next possibility. So, I suggest, temporarily, disable the Windows Firewall and check if the problem persists.

    Refer to the following steps:

    1. Press the Windows key + R, type firewall.cpl , and press ENTER.
    2. Click turn Windows Firewall on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. Click turn off (not recommended) Windows Firewall under each network location that you want to stop trying to protect, and then click OK.

    Caution:

You should not turn off Windows Firewall unless you have another firewall is enabled. Turning off Windows Firewall may make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers. You must reactivate as soon as you have completed troubleshooting.

For more details, you can see the article mentioned below.

    Enable or disable Windows Firewall

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

    Kind regards

  • Re: Wireless not connect / search for router - Satellite P305

Hey all, I hope that I can help.

As I come back from uni, my laptop has decided that its wireless won't work. When I scan, it cannot find the router in my house and the icon in the taskbar has a cross inside. When I plug my laptop into the router via ethernet, it connects very well then and the wireless takes over even the router, but as soon as I unplug the wireless dies again.

My laptop is a Toshiba P305 and has an Atheros AR9281 wireless card.
My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP1.

I know that's not the router, since everything else connects fine - my PS3, this old PC XP (so I do this thread), etc.

Sometimes when I start the laptop it finds my router (and a neighbor), but when I try to connect to it it says "Windows cannot connect to this network" and it simply disappears. Also sometimes I can connect to the router after that the Ethernet cable is disconnected, but it is limited to the connectivity (i.e. I can't get on the internet) and soon the tomb with the message "Windows has not received a response from the access point or router" and can not find yet

    What I've tried so far.

    -Restart.
-Leave the portable island for awhile.
-Switch wireless switch and turn it back on.
-Check I have the latest drivers for the card.
    -Reinstall these drivers.
-Check if the WLAN or other network services are disabled.
    -Restart some services.
-Disabling and then re-enabling the adapter.
-Physically sitting right next to the router and it still can't find it.
    -System restore
-Disable the WEP encryption on my router and use another method of security, even turn off security completely.
    -Reboot the router.

I have not had any problems with the wireless front, he has just started happening yesterday.

Thanks for any help/advice, I'm out of ideas.

  • How to transfer the contents of my Itunes from one PC to another?

    Hello

I tried several options that I found on the web, but no seem to work and my playlist are all empty?

I have the usual content in Itunes, music, games, memos, tones...

I would like to use Itunes as I did on my old computer to my new computer...

    Thank you

Migrate a library iTunes from one computer to another

These are two approaches that work normally to move an existing library to a new computer.

    Method 1

    1. Save the library with this trick of the user.
    2. Remove the old computer if you no longer wish to access content protected on it.
    3. Restore the backup to your new computer by using the same tool used to back it up.
    4. Keep your current backup in the future.

    Method 2

Connect the two computers on the same network. Share your folder from the old computer and copy the file whole iTunes library in the folder on the new. Yet once, remove the old computer so is no longer necessary.

These two methods should give the new computer, a clone of the library work which was on the former. What about iTunes is it is still the 'home' for your devices library you should not have problems with iTunes will erase and reload.

I recommend method 1 because it establishes a current backup for your library.

Note If you have iOS devices and that you have not reached your contacts and calendar all in all items, then you need to create a dummy entry in your new profile and iTunes expected to merge existing data from the device.

If your media folder has been separated in the main folder of iTunes, you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a library of portable split.

If you are in the unfortunate position where you're able to access your original library or a backup and then see recover your iTunes from your iPod or an iOS device to get tips on how to configure your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

    Hello

I guess that your laptop uses the map Intel 2200BG wireless.
You will find a lot of questions and problems with this card intel.
Mainly the graphics driver update will solve these issues.

  • Unable to connect to the router

-Please ignore this message: I did not wait enough to do the factory reset. It seems that launch a factory reset without waiting for 10 seconds only restarts the router.

    Hello

Today I tried to connect to my router (I do not use it for a few years) and it didn't work at all.

Initially, I plugged it in just 2 RJ45 cables: one for internet, one for the PC. The computer could not connect to the router (DHCP failed).

I then restored the factory settings and tried again: same thing, the computer could not find the router via DHCP.

I tried to force an IP address (IP: 192.168.1.5, mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1).

By forcing the INVESTIGATION period, I was able to connect to the router, but when I tried connect to 192.168.1.1 with admin/password, it wouldn't let me (bad password - don't forget I restored it to factory settings, several times actually). The address http://routeurlogin.net/ is not found (404) and I was unable to go on websites (404). A curious thing is, using this connection, I was able to connect to Skype (and send/receive messages), although the sites Web could not be reached from a browser.

I'm running out of ideas to solve the problem, but I suspect a hardware problem, so any help would be welcome.

    Yes he did.

I couldn't find an option to delete my message, otherwise I would have done it.

Simply said, the Wlan router signal is too weak and this causes disconnection
    I have some advice for you;

    -Update the WLan driver
-Card Wlan definition of control; You should go to Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab WLan card. You will find some options that allows you to change the standard WLan (802.11 A, B, G, etc.) and you can also check the WLan channel and improve the signal
    -Disable the Wlan Card saving

    Good luck
