to update / change to 8.1 windows vista recovery partition (old hardware DV9610EF)

Hi supports,

I have a HP DV9610EF computer was equipped with windows vista (2007), I upgraded from vista to win8 in 2013, without no problem, many thks HP.

Now, my question is the following:

In order to have a new computer, I want to know if it is possible to move the "(original vista) recovery partition" and rebuilt it with my WIN8, if yes how to treat?

Thank you very much for your support - Jacky de France :-)

Nice day.

Hello

It is not possible to reconstruct the OEM recovery partition using a different operating system.

8.1 win has a few available recovery options:

Create a custom Refresh Image.

Create a USB Microsoft recovery discto use when your PC does not start or your HARD drive fails. Note, you will not be able to access Recovery Manager from HP that you have upgraded from Vista to Win 8.1.

Create an image of Microsoft Systemon the external backup media.

Resetyour PC.

    Hello

    You can't do a recovery Partition.

    A recovery partition is copied onto your hard drive from the computer manufacturer at their factory.

    If you do not have to purchase recovery disc are to make sure that you do not have alreasdy have a recovery hard disk Partition?

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

    There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

    There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

    You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

    They should do this for a small fee.

    To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

    You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

    How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    "How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

    And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

    The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

    Ask them to the proper key sequence.

    And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

    Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

    If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

    Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

    If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

    You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

    Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

    And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    "How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

    And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Windows Vista recovery disc

    I can't load the Windows Vista recovery disks (3 in total).  The Recovery Manager has not opened.  I went up to step 3 only.  I guess the restore disc (CD 1) failed.

    Hello:

    Sometimes the recovery disks do not work for one reason or another.

    If you can still read all 25 characters of the Vista product key on the COA Microsoft sticker on the bottom of your PC, you can do your own Vista installation disc that should at least get an operating system reinstalled on your PC.

    Here's how:

    If you are in a fault light but rewarding you can do yourself if you can read your product key of Vista on the PC of 25 characters.

    You just download the 3 files you need on the link below and read all the instructions to create a Setup bootable DVD disk using imageburn.

    Do not take into account the part of the text in the first screen shot about "extract the files in the folder of Vista."

    The files were extracted already in this folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screenshot.

    The other thing I noticed is on the 4th page, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in me, and then the other codes already filled in.

    When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message on a WIM file, file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.

    I selected no, make the ISO file.

    It was not so hard to do. I burned both the disk of 64-bit and 32-bit disk in case I ever need them.

    I tested both of them on my hp dc7100 CMT PC desktop computer, they worked perfectly.

    When you enter the product key, he knows which version of Vista you have.

    After you install Vista successfully, you can then install the drivers for your PC and driver page support.

    Update:  This is the new link to your own Vista installation media.

    Click on the link below and then click on the link PDF Guide of reinstalling Windows.

    Follow the instructions on pp 295-297.

    The partition recovery on a computer is put in place by the manufacturer of the computer, and it is always better to consult before making any changes in there. It contains files that will help you to restore your computer in the event of a disaster. No one knows about the things inside the recovery partition better than your computer manufacturer. Read my response in the next for more details on this thread:

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to make the recovery disk/s of the recovery Partition in case of hard drive failure or System Crash, about what you are up and running again.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • Windows 7 recovery partition and Hp
    Hello! I have a Hp pavilion dv7 with a recovery partition. IM currently on family vista premium, but if I buy windows 7, the installation will remove the vista recovery partition? If so, what can I do to keep it?
    Please answer!
    1. When you install W7 that does not alter the recovery partition, unless you choose to do so.
  • Update the Configuration failed on Windows Vista when the computer was closed prematurely at sea
    My son turned off the computer before the update of configuration was complete.  It uses a Compaq Vista premium desktop computer.  The operating system will not load (it is stuck in a loop trying to reconfigure the old settings before the update).  We have tried to start in Mode safe mode and do a system restore.  The first available date is November 15, when the update occurred.  System Restore got the point to finalize and then jammed (lasted at least 4 hours).   Any suggestions other than a complete system to recharge?
    Hi DRoggeman,
    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Community Forums.
    I suggest you to do the Startup Repair to fix boot of startup problem and uninstall all updates you have installed.
    Reinstall or install updates for your computer by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
    To perform the Startup Repair, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc. If you do not restart your computer from the disk, the option to repair your computer will not appear.
    1. Insert the installation disc.
    2. restart your computer.
    Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the lock button, and then click restart.
    3. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
    Note
    If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
    4. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    5. click on repair your computer.
    6. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    7. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair can invite you to make choices as it tries to solve the problem, and if necessary, it may restart your computer, because it makes the repairs.
    Recently I received notice of update of the computer (where the sleep button turns red with the shield of Microsoft - so that when you click on it begins to install the updates before you shut down).     Despite the long waiting to install the updates that several "important" updates several times not to settle, which inevitably means that the next day that the computeer said that it has developed important to install...
