TOC problem parent Webhelp

In Robohelp 10.

When I have more than 25 children OCD published in my Parent TOC projects:

When I display the parent TOC everything seems OK until I select a child OCD. At this point, the child project is displayed in a separate session of IE.

If I change the parent have say only 20 entries of table of contents of child, on the display then the parent TOC in Internet Explorer, the OCD child then open correctly in the same session of IE.

Any thoughs on the cause of this problem?

Best regards

Paul Ashton.

Hi Paul.

II don't think that the problem is the number of the child projects. Check the properties of the entire child Webhelp SSL and the properties of the window and they are all identical to the parent project. BTW, if 20 works OK you have already reduced the problem to one of the other 5, so it shouldn't be too hard.

  • Is the fix for the problems of WebHelp in RoboHelp versions 10 and 11 work when you access by using a Web server?

    I use RoboHelp 10 with the last fix of WebHelp.

    I copied files in the fix to the folder specified in the instructions, regenerated aid and tested my WebHelp on IE 8-11.

    Seen on the spot, the WebHelp output looks very good.

    Help is accessible by users of a web server, so I set up the output newly generated on our web server and tested the output and that's what I found:

    IE 8: Index and glossary are taking 3 or 4 seconds to load, which I guess I very well.

    IE 9: Index and glossary are taking 3-4 second to load. Index entries are too big and use a different font.

    That is to say 10: when you click a topic in the search pane, you get a blank page. When you click an entry in the Index, you get a blank page. After using the Index/Search and then go back to the content page, you get a blank page.

    That is to say 11: entry of Index are cut

    Has anyone else run these question? I can live with the questions about IE 09/08/11, but on IE 10 blank pages are unacceptable. If the fix is not resolved these problems or I do something wrong? Why the fix would work locally but not when accessed from a web server?

    Any info would be much appreciated.

    Hello!

    I use RoboHelp 9. When I try to generate the main provision (WebHelp), my books and subjects are not. The contents, Index, search and glossary are (even if nothing happens when you click on them), but the rest of the screen is empty. I've included a screenshot.

  • Problems generating WebHelp output using RoboHelp X 5

    Hello

    I have been using RoboHelp X 5, build 606 since the last 2 weeks. I am facing problems with the generation of the WebHelp output, when I generate and publish the project, it does not give me the Index and table of contents. I took over the project from another author, and when I compare the new published folder help with his previous work, I see some missing files. Could someone group please help me solve this problem?

    Thank you!

    Two options from this information.

    1] is the D drive partition on your hard drive or a network drive? The RoboHelp projects must be executed from your hard drive.

    [2] the most likely is that HR is not properly installed. When the left anterior author was uninstalled and reinstalled HR using your login? For X 5, it must be installed using your login? Also, you need local administrator rights both to install it and use it.

    My guess is that it's all to do with X 5 having not been installed with your login and you have local administrator rights.

    This will lead to another problem. X 5 can no longer be activated. The solution that is on my site. See extract of 100.

  • TOC problem, dots and page due to the exhibitor/index number

    I have a few titles in my book ends with a character exponent or index. When I create the table of contents, points (tab) and the page number for these titles are written in address/subscription.

    I tried to create a syle of specificity for the character of the exhibitor/index, but these are inherited in the table of contents.

    I also tried to break the link to the style, specific character, however, the problem is that the entire title lost its reference to style and is not printed in the table of contents.

    We solved this problem in configureing the paragraph style that we used to tab (points) and the number in the table of contents to have only the Normal Position. This way we had set up every title that has the subscription.

  • TOC problem; search boxes and lost key words

    I inherited a Robohelp X 5 project that was originally started by someone very familiar with these types of programs, then finally ruined by someone who knew nothing about them or the content. I spent most of my time to rewrite and update content using X 5, then upgraded to 7 this morning. I learned a little about the program, not obviously not enough. I am sure that these are things that I screwed up, because they worked before; but I don't know what I did or how to fix it...
    First, the table of contents are built, with books and the pages are in the order I want. Books are likely linked to a page-, so that when a user clicks on the book, it is by default a particular page, and from there they can move to other pages in the section. However, when I check the results, you must click on the book, then click on the individual page for the page to open.
    Then I "lost" the search for the Index fields and keyword search. When I look at the skin, they appear, but when I discovered the project, they aren't - lists index and keyword appear in the place the boxes.
    If anyone can give me any advice on what I should do, I would really appreciate it.

    Hello

    If you click on file > generate a main page layout, you should see the first of a few dialog boxes different you can interact with. Dialog boxes that all the different parameters of order for the creation of the WebHelp. That's what Peter was referring to his post. One of the options govern the operation of the WebHelp Navigation. Your choice is between an Applet Java and DHTML. It seems that if your configuration is either using "Pure HTML" option or you have activated the option "Section 508".

    Does that make more sense?

  • Fix for the problems of release of WebHelp with IE 11 breaks search

    I use RoboHelp HTML 9 and you had problems with WebHelp generated in IE 11. The table of contents was completely empty and the 'Search' tab was going well, but have not worked. Everything worked fine in Firefox. After much research online and experimenting in these forums and elsewhere, I was able to get the table of contents to display properly in IE 11 (and Firefox), but the fix caused the Search tab to stop functioning in accordance with this other forum post RH9 Webhelp search function does not work properly.

    I need to have BOTH COT and research displays and works correctly but in order to get the table of contents displays correctly I had to change the preferred Format "Pure HTML" and, according to the above-mentioned position setting, it's what messes up the search function. is there a solution that will enable the TOC and research work properly?

    Here is a summary of the steps I took to get to this point:

    • Tested WebHelp output of two different projects myself so that the startup project Salesbuilder - all would display or function properly in Firefox but not in IE (empty TOC and non-functional research) 11.
    • Find a "patch" for RH10 exactly the problem I have experienced with RH9 but wasn't able to find a version for RH9. Since the patch included only 2 files (whutils.js and whver.js), I saved these files in the RoboHTML\WebHelp5Ext\template_stock directory and replace them with the new.
    • Regenerated one of my RoboHelp projects - still does not work in IE 11 and now does not work in Firefox either!
    • Tried to turn on mark of the Web but this did not help and did not allow for opening PDF that is necessary for one of the projects, I turned it again.
    • Change the preferred Format setting "Pure html" instead of "DHTML" and the table of contents displays and worked properly in 11 IE and Firefox! Hooray!
    • Celebrated for 10 seconds until I clicked on the "Search" tab and see the input box filled with letters of the alphabet with other random letters, words, numbers below. It looks almost like an index, but none of my projects using an index and I've not generated one or the other project.
    • Found the post mentioned above which States that the solution is to change the preferred Format of DHTML, but when I do this I am back empty TOC and look clean but non-functional search!
    • I have now deleted the search the output of one of the projects tab, it is not really necessary, but I need to find a solution for this for my other project.

    Two of my projects are run locally - it is documentation that is distributed on a CD release and the other is CSH, which is loaded on the local server with the software for which it was created.

    Note to administrators: Sorry, but I posted this in response to a previous post , summary, Index, & Research do not appear in the generated... help -then perhaps it should be removed from this thread to avoid confusion.

    There is an official fix for RoboHelp 9 IE10. But who is unable to solve your problem. If you PM me, I can send you a pre-test to fix IE11 on RH9 to see if it works in your situation.

  • How to call from c# webhelp

    I don't want to seem too simplistic, but I spent at least 2 hours, try calling webelp c# files, without a bit of luck to all. All I ever get is three beeps my computer soon, and the Internet Explorer browser never show at all. Here is some basic information:

    I read all the documentation, from beginning to end.

    (On WinHelp_4) I've compiled the project CSH_CS (csharp version) and am able to call my simple file WinHelp RH (Dummy.chm) very well, using the main url "c:\\Docs and Settings\\etc\\RoboHelp 6.0\\Dummy\\! SSL!\\WinHelp_4\\Dummy.hlp ". A = 1 MapID is required in the CSH test dialog box so that my help file load. This support my help since the little thin CSH test window.

    (On WebHelp) After obtaining the WinHelp_4 version to work, I went from the main exit to WebHelp in the section layout SingleSource and specified that HR must create a subdirectory (HTMLHelp) to store the WebHelp files. I regenerated the project and read the resulting output to web successfully using the view results or the main layout view toolbar HR. So I think my help files are ok. But... I can't get the WebHelp to display in the CSH test dialog box, no matter what I try.

    Currently I use roughly the same main URL in the c# CSH project: "c:\\Docs and Settings\\etc\\RoboHelp 6.0\\Dummy\\HTMLHelp\\! SSL!\\WebHelp\\Dummy.htm ". I do not add a window > main at the end of the main URL. No matter if I use a 1 MapID or is empty. It doesn't matter if I choose to Index, search, etc. Any combination of things, the help file does not appear. The file exists - if I double click on the file Dummy.htm, file charges help immediately in Internet Explorer.

    If my help files seem ok, and the CSH_CS code seems ok (at least it works with WinHelp_4). All I have changed is the path to my help file. (Oh, and I tried to point a *.htm example existing in the directory examples of HR, with the same results - just a few clicks little IE (probably to say "There is a mistake somewhere").)

    Could someone give me exact instructions on what I could try to solve the problem? I would like to know the specific syntaxes for the use of windows and MapIDs in my URL string too, if you know. Here's what I think they are:

    URL = "Startpage.htm" - to load the complete help system
    URL = "Startpage.htm > main"-to display in a particular window
    URL = "Startpage.htm < id = 2"-to display mapid 2

    Thanks for your help

    Well well, another hour and a bit further. Now I can view WebHelp to c# through the RoboHelpAPI (although it seems unnecessary, because of the bugs and problems in the CSH_CS example program and web IE browser window popup). First, here's the code that displays the system WebHelp (high-level, in a stand-alone instance of IE browser)

    Try 2
    int cmd = CRoboHelpAPI.CSH_DISPLAY_CONTEXT;
    CRoboHelpAPI cHelp = new CRoboHelpAPI ();
    int ID = 1; context ID; the number is not serious at all
    foobar string;
    foobar = "C:\\my pathname\\RoboHelp 6.0;
    foobar += "\\Dummy\\HTMLHelp\\!" SSL!\\WebHelp\\Dummy.htm ';
    string second = foobar;
    cHelp.RH_AssociateOfflineHelp (foobar, second);
    cHelp.RH_ShowHelp ((int) this.) Handle, foobar, cmd, ID);
    return;

    From RoboHelp_CSH_CS.cs:
    the reset command
    Switch (NCommande) {}
    case CSH_DISPLAY_CONTEXT:
    Note that I commented this line--it is allowing it to "work".
    It is also why the number of the ContextID above is not serious - we ignore it.
    strHelpURL += ' # '.
    break;

    From RoboHelp_CSH_CS.cs:

    public static IWebBrowserApp
    GetBrowser () {}
    for (int nIdx = 0; nIdx)< 2;="" nidx++)="">
    try {}
    If (m_cExplorer is nothing)
    m_cExplorer = new InternetExplorer ();
    If (m_cBrowser is nothing)
    m_cBrowser = m_cExplorer (IWebBrowserApp);
    I had to add this code myself, because the browser does not
    visible by the example of program Adobe CSH_CS.cs. A defect,
    in the example program, for sure.
    ==> m_cBrowser.Visible = true;

    So to summarize, if you set the example CSH_CS code (1) to make the visible browser and (2) ignore the number the contextID, the code in this ad will display your WebHelp system in a new IE window, with the usual framework of TOC on the left and the topic on the right window, in a main window. But wait... There's more...

    IE POPUP WINDOWS

    The example above in the code under the direction of the case for CSH_DISPLAY_CONTEXT. The code added a few extra characters to the URL to tell the browser to display a specific page, rather than just the start page. Similarly, branches CSH_DISPLAY_TOC/INDEX/SEARCH code also adds characters to the URL, to tell the browser to display a specific page in the help system.

    The problem with all this is that IE treats all these single page displayed as a pop-up windows and blocking them. That is why in my original case at the top of this announcement I only heard a few clicks (and did not) when I tried to display my WebHelp. I saw nothing because the browser was not made visible by the code. I heard the two double clicks (click-click, click-click) because IE "emits a sound when a window is blocked.

    So there is probably a collision of major policy on user workstations if your c# application tries to display web pages specific to WebHelp. If users want to block the popups for web surfing in general, they are unable to see specific pages for WebHelp and vice versa. Ugh.

    A possible workaround is to say 'Always show popups in separate tabs' (in Options/general/Tabs/settings). I tried this setting and then uncommented my code blocks CSH_DISPLAY_CONTEXT/etc. As expected, all of the characters added on the forced URL pages display, which meant that IE the treated as pop up windows and pressed new tabs.

    So what you're actually seeing is

    (1) a new instance of Internet Explorer has become visible,

    (2) the path to the help system (more control characters listed in the appendix) is shown on the first tab (in my case, file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/kkkwj/My%20Documents/RoboHelp%206.0/Dummy/HTMLHelp/!) SSL!/Webhelp/whcsh_home.htm#ID=2). It's weird, because the main URL I fed in to the API in the above code was "C:\\...path\\Dummy.htm" (with a the ContextID parameter 2 =). I have no idea how my Dummy.htm was changed to whcsh_home.htm by the API. Go figure. I guess the switch takes place if characters appearing in the annex are found on the end of the URL, and the switch is made to support the context somehow ID.

    (3) the desired page is displayed in a separate tab in Internet Explorer.

    My conclusions are:

    (1) adobe should solve their examples to save the people all this headache. They must fix the code, making the visible browser and provide a nice documentation about what the secret syntaxes are for characters added)

    (2) the argument with the pop-up windows is not worth. So I will call my higher level help system all the time and give up the usefulness of context-sensitive help. It's too much problem with WebHelp. (Of course, context-sensitive help works very well with the old WinHelp_4, but WinHelp_4 has other limits.)

    A long process to debug this. Adobe fell from short on this one. But I hope others can use my ads here in a time of need. (Thanks to Adobe for the forums and for a quick response Peter.)

  • Problems with the help of Flash output

    Hello there, hoping to get some tips on a few topics with RoboHelp.

    We just started deployment FlashHelp here and have met a couple of snags. I use RoboHelp version 6, the version of Flash player 9 and have the Flash authoring software (if necessary), but this is the MX 2004 version. We need IE 6 and Windows XP Pro.

    Question 1

    In a project of FlashHelp (generated), when, on the Index tab, if I use the search box to find a word index, shows the following error: "a script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly." If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. You want to stop the script? "If I DO NOT give up the script, the computer is still slow. If I said to go there and to abort the script, Internet Explorer crashes.

    I asked our in-house web team and the Flash development team to examine the issue of the index, and they discovered something strange. The index is broken only if the index entered word begins with the letter has that ever happened to someone else? We tried several projects on multiple boxes (computers), and the results have been very inconsistent. Sometimes it breaks, sometimes not, but ONLY when the index entry starts with an A.

    Is there something I can change in the code anywhere to prevent that from happening in the first place? Alternatively, is it possible to change the skin to completely remove this entry from the index? It is not necessary to our process to have him there, as long as the index entries are there with the scroll bar.

    Note: We just use the default Flash skin - no changes.

    Question 2

    One of my latest projects to help is contextual. When called in the application (F1) displays the appropriate heading. However, the table of contents displays always the default book - it develops not to correspond to where the user is really help.

    Even more strange (for me), the table of contents works very well for the pages and books of first level and second level. However, something third-level or deeper, the table of contents is behavior as described above - the book of the default home page.

    All books are books with links (topics), so what matters. Also, I tried to build the project as WebHelp and had the same results - the table of contents still would not automatically fill when it is called csh of the application.

    In all other respects, things seem to work very well.

    I downloaded the trial version of RoboHelp 7 and had the same problems.

    Thank you very much!

  • Merged project hyperlinks does not

    I know there are other topics on it and I went through them and the external link to the support site for Peter. I must be totally miss the train on how to correctly configure cross project hyperlinks.

    I use RoboHelp x 8.

    I have a "parent" project that will be using generic GUI on a platform of multiple products.

    There will be several "child" projects that contain the definitions for each of the products.

    Right now, we have only a range of products for this platform (with details to follow).

    I have the following source structure:

    Parent project (user reference)

    -Project of the child (vector of securities)

    I have the following generated WebHelp structure:

    Parent of WebHelp

    -mergedProjects

    -The vector of securities

    I created a hyperlink of a parent to a child topic subject to test.

    I generates child assistance and parent in WebHelp format.

    The WebHelp parent has the file mergedProjects with the subfolder of the child inside.

    I published the WebHelp child in the subfolder of the child within the mergedProjects folder.

    When I opened the WebHelp parent, I can see and navigate the themes of childhood and they appear in the table of contents.

    I also see the index entries for the child of the parent WebHelp.

    Thus, it seems that all is well... but when I go to a "parent" topic, and click on a hyperlink to a 'child' toipc, I get the message:

    "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

    Here's how to set the hyperlink:

    In the parent section, I highlight text and click Insert Hyperlink

    I select the FILE option and go to the section in the source of the child project

    I select the heading of the hyperlink

    Once selected, the Link To entry field shows:

    .. / Securities/vector HPI_Volatility_Index_Metrics.htm

    When I update the hyperlink, I get the message on an external link, and then click OK

    When I look at the hyperlink in the source HTML of the parent topic, it looks like this:

    "' < a title = 'HPI Volatility Index indicators' href ="... / vector Securities/HPI_Volatility_Index_Metrics.htm ' > hyperlink < /a >

    Can someone direct me to where I went off the track on the establishment of hyperlinks project cross?

    As always, any help would be appreciated-

    Michael F Weart

    After a very long day, I have looked at only this but it looks like you're missing a level in the source projects.

  • With output window display problems Webhelp/Webhelp Pro

    Hello

    I created a few projects webhelp after being informed by our team of QA and development projects I created HTML5 format were not compatible with 1.) old versions of IE [specifically the 7 and 8 - posted another discussion on this in the last couple months, tried the patch of shiv without result] and 2) the control used by the program to display a HTML file, mounted on a given device [iOS] - what I have said, this is true for iOS 7 and it is supposed to be a new version of IOS control 8 which supports the HTML features. But we are not there right now (still need to support iOS 7), by application QA/DEV, so I created the webhelp projects to see if these work and display better on devices.

    I noticed some display problems when I generate and view webhelp output. Initially, the books in the table of contents are cut off and I have to resize the TOC pane and drag the bar to scroll at the bottom of the viewport to see. But when I do this, the button of the search field in the toolbar is cut. Also, the initial vertical scroll bar displayed on the right side of the window apply to the entire window. In other words, I can't use it to scroll upwards or downwards in the displayed topic. Again, I have to resize the overall window or drag the scroll down bar all the way to the right, how I can see a partial 'hidden' vertical scroll bar for the window in the topic.

    The Properties window to create/edit a dialog box window for webhelp and webhelp pro provides much in the way of personalization or all that I can see related to these questions.

    Can anyone offer any suggestions on how I can get the window to display correctly?

    Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Sincerely,

    DH
