Toshiba 320 GB external HARD drive make my very slow computer

Hello.

I bought this product a few weeks ago now, and every time I use it, it makes my computer go tp so slow to the point where I can't actually do something on this subject, due to the fact that everything becomes inadmissible. Also, the rate at which I transfer files to it is also very slow. Any ideas why and what I can do to speed things up a bit?

Thank you.

Hello

You suggested that the laptop becomes slowly during the use of the external HARD drive.
I guess that transfer you a data from the HARD drive internal to the external USB HDD.
I think that it s not very rare, that the laptop runs slowly during the transmission of the data.
It depands on the program that runs in the context of the operating system.

I put t know which interface you use USB2 or USB only, but data transfer depends on the interface.

  • 320 gb External Hard Drive - now detected as Cypress device

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba 320 GB external hard drive and it seems to have developed a problem. Instead of being detected correctly when I turn on the drive Windows tell me that his device detected a "Cypress AT2LP RC42" and he wants to install software for it (which it does not so find).

I know that this isn't just the OS because I have two OS on my machine and while it used to work fine on the two I now get the same behavior on them. Other that the drive does not appear in "My Computer" or in the "Disk management" part of the "Computer management" console

Anyone know how to fix this?

I must also say that I had only this when I got a 160 GB Toshiba drive.

    [Edited by: admin]

I googled around, and it seems that you really need a driver for this external hard drive to HARD drive. You should check the Web site of Cypress.

The other option is to download the DriverWizard Windriver jungo.com 8.0. This application creates .inf files. Cypress AT2LP RC42 source code should be integrated.
For EXAMPLE, you can create a clean driver .inf file. Try to install it on your device.

  • Toshiba 500 GB external HARD drive is no longer detected - after only 1 hour

    Hey,.

I finally got my Toshiba 500 GB external hard drive delivered today. I had no problem setting up and to turn my laptop on, it immediately recognized and I started to transfer things for her.

However, I accidentally stood on the USB cable to the HARD drive and disconnected. I plugged it in, but my computer did not recognize.

Nothing I've tried has worked, always, the laptop does not recognize the hard drive.

Please help, I've only had the one hour thing, and it already does not work! I really hope that I have not only lost £56...

All advice is appreciated, thanks in advance.

NEW: My father just tried plugging the HARD drive in the desktop PC is on the ground, and as soon as the USB when it is in the port, you stop the computer... causing him to lose a lot of important business email, he wrote. It starts the computer, the USB and you stop again... and this has happened 3 times until he gave up. What on Earth is wrong with this thing? I've never heard of a USB cable, stop a computer permanently, or a hard drive that does more after an hour of use...

The USB port on the HARD drive may have been damaged and may be causing the PC detect a short power.

You can try another USB cable? If it is not the cable, then the HARD drive should be sent to a Service Center for repair or replacement.

Had a project done using first items 11 (the file exported and posted on youtube).  All the media files and PRE files associated with this project were located in the same folder on an external hard drive.  Got a new computer, responsible for first 11 elements (which of course doesn't recognize not all previous projects because it is a new installation) and now cannot open the original project to make some adjustments (connected to the external hard drive of course)...  Even tried to open the last saved auto program as well, no luck.  Just get a shell of the original project, but no real media file is passed in. Then get a prompt asking you where the file "rendering-3090026..." (20 More digits) is located.  Looking for C drive and external hard drive without success. Help!

Which operating systems are involved - old and new?

The external drive has the same drive letter on the new computer as it did when it was used on the other computer?

Where are the video preview and the old led, Audio preview files compared to new? See Edit Menu/preferences/Scratch discs?

Are all the place where is the file... messages just to render files? If all are for rendering files, what happens if you click ignore for their

messages? Can you enter into the project and render it again if necessary and proceed with the project?

Please see the bulletin. With the above information, we will decide which way to go? It seems that a media disconnect situation has developed in

  • External Toshiba 320 GB of HARD drive cannot be recognized on Powerbook G4

OK, if I get a new external hard drive and it will not pop up on my desk. It is a portable external hard drive (320GB) of Toshiba USB 2.0.
It has a blue led that lights up when I plug it into my powerbook G4, but other than that, I can't find any recognition of it on my computer.

The other day before this one, I bought another brand, and it was the same result.

    Any ideas?
Where can I check the settings of 'visibility' (right term?)?

Also of note: I have a printer that plugs into USB and it works very well. Also I have an iPhone that works very well with the computer and another (independently operated) external drive that works.

Is it possible that I would need to remove the software for the other drive? Doesn't seem likely, but I'm at a loss.

Thanks for reading and for any help!

I don't use no matter what mac operating system, so I can't tell you if there is an option that makes the HARD visible disc.

But you do not have any disk utility?
Or does first be formatted to HFS file system?

And what software use to the other drive?

Sorry, but these are only rough thoughts, as I'm really not familiar with these operating systems.

  • Disk Toshiba 320 GB external hard takes 3 minutes to go to the top

In 2006, I bought my external hard drive Toshiba 320 GB, USB 2.0. IT worked fine until a week ago. Whenever I want to use it, I turn on with the switch at the rear of the car. The blue light turns on and then... nothing.

After a few minutes (it varies between 3 and 10) the drive suddenly makes a noise (it turns upward?) start and the drive is recognized by Windows. I use Windows XP Service Pack 3. A few times when I also turn on my second external drive it als gets automatically recognized, sometimes not.

Once it is recognized, the drive works perfectly without errors.

I looked in the event viewer of windows, without errors or warnings there. When I restart Windows, the drive is not recognized immediately (also takes about 3 minutes). I tried ending task assignment to see if there was programs 'blocking' of the reader, but it would not help.

Does anyone have any advice for me I can try more? Or perhaps had the same problem and solved somehow?

    Hello!

Have you plugged the HDD on the same PC or laptop as before?
As Akuma has said, try it on another PC.

If you have another USB cable that you use to test.

    Good bye

  • Toshiba ph3100u-1exb external Hard Drive will not stay On

    Hi all.

I recently bought a Toshiba ph3100u-1exb 1.0 TB external hard drive. It works fine, but the problem that I am running is that it does not stay on for more than a few minutes. I don't know that its a kind of function, but if there is a way to turn it off, energy saving, I would have the accessible reader at all times, I use the information stored on it a little.

When he died, I can always press the power button to bring it up, but I would like to have it on all the time. Is it at all possible to do? A setting on the drive, or even within Windows?

I have the player hooked up through a USB cable, this PC is a little older and does not use for hard drives-eSATA cables.

    Hello

In my opinion, the HARD drive must be checked with different computers and different OS (Vista, Win 7, Win XP). If the external HARD disk doesn't work using different systems and computers then it s definitely a HARD drive problem.

I have 2 different external drives a HARD drive died and I had to replace it.
In my opinion, if a HARD drive starts to malfunction then it s mostly a hardware related issue and there is nothing to replace the defective drive

  • Clicking on Toshiba 1 TB external hard drive

Bought my external hard drive Toshiba Canvio black 1 TB in July, and a few days ago I heard / felt continuous clicking. I've been more than prudent with my drive, never give up, tilting ever and never disconnect when the light flashes. Somehow I could possibly revive? Sometimes after I have unplug it and plug it back, there is no clicking for an hour and my files are readable, but then he starts up with the clicking again

    Hello

You should be troubled if the HARD drive starts making strange noises.
It could be a first sign of a HARD disk crash.
On the other hand, my HARD drive clicks also but not always it happens sporadically
I couldn't find a reason for this, but I created some backups to be on the safe side.

I think that you must back up the data too.

What should I do to use the hard drive full?

500 GB is the ability, now its GB full but only 256 and the rest I can't fill, I get a message 'not enough of free space.

Thanks in advance for you're help!

    Luka

That's the problem with the file system of your external hard drive,
Check your external hard drive file system.
    -Open my computer
-Right-click on your external hard drive
    -Select Properties
-written to see if it is the file system FAT32 or below this (FAT or FAT16)
you will need to format it in NTFS. Why? I'll explain later.
-to format your external hard drive, right click on the external hard drive.
    -Select format
-in the file system drop-down menu, select NTFS
    -Choose the quick format
    -Press OK

After the process is finished, you can now copy the file.

    EXPLANATION:
This happens because the FAT family of file system have the 4 GB limit only (if I'm not mistaken) in the 1 file size.
NTFS have much higher than that, but I forgot how big it can manage 1 file. ^. ^
but it will be far from 8 GB.
