Toshiba Canvio 5 TB carving UBS ports

Hi, I bought this unit two weeks ago and I have a real problem with an intermittent fault. I tried to reduce the issue down as much as possible, but just when I thought that I solved it, he did it again.

Basically I use the drive as my storage drive for synchronization of the box, 360cloud, onedrive, drobbox, google reader and the location for my portal for recorded tv and plex media storage. And my system backups.
Things seem to start but then as soon as Acronis True Image 2015 runs to back up my system, it starts but little time after 15-25mins (this cut just one out to 11.27 GB) in the backup, the USB port will cancel followed by my usb port mouse, my dongle wifi port.
I checked the power management settings and they are not to disable usb ports when it is idle, hhds etc will not be closed after x time being idle. I ran acronis true image with all my cloud storage synchronization off, plex and media extender Portal off the power. I even stopped things as process lasso and kerish doctor and my internet security off, but he always does.
I tried on windows 8.1 and windows 10 and its does on both and also tried on a windows xp laptop. On the xp laptop, it has not cut off the ports, but he could have done if used for more.
After a short time, a few minutes after closed ports it tells me that the last device that I have connected malfunctions, but he does not recognize the USB so cannot reload the reader, each time I have to restart the computer, which is not very sure that without the usb ports, I have no mouse or keyboard to restart windows without using the reset button on the case! Even if I remove the devices and then reinsert them ports seem dead, nothing is picked up until I restart the machine.

Without the drive connected everything works fine if its something to do with the drive

I'm stuck. I need this sorting ASAP because I need to access the files I put on the disk regularly.

I hope that there is an easy fix as the drive back would be very embarrassing that I need the data off the drive before it is replaced and I don't have another drive to do.

I think it might be a problem with the power supply of the USB port...

The USB 2.0 port common provides only 500mA

The USB 3.0 device needs 900mA

That's why I recommend you this HARD disk to connect to two USB 2.0 ports using the USB Y cable

Data storage, for example when I use it to watch a video file off and then it start immediately again to go back... It can happen to the breast of a movie 20 times and it is very annoying because you never know when the judgment will happen...

    How to fix this please?

    Hello

In my opinion it is not very easy to say why the external HARD disk automatically turns off while watching a movie. But this issue does not seem that there might be something wrong with the settings or software.
Of course, some tools are available and installed on the HARD drive as the NTI Backup Now EZ software but I n t think that this could affect the playback of the movie. However, this software supports and automatic backup function and you can change how often your backup intervenes (hourly, daily, weekly, etc.). So try to disable this setting for testing purposes.

Fact is that this 3.5 HARD drive must be connected to a power adapter and HARD drive supports the USB 3.0 interface but it s backward compatible with USB 2.0.

I put t know what are the USB ports you have used for the connection of HARD drive, but I recommend you test all the USB ports taken in charge by the PC.

Last but not least, it could be possible that there is a hardware problem simple HARD drive

I (full) support for 2012 and used, it can time.

Now, it has suddenly stopped appear on my PC, sometimes showing message saying "device not recognized".
About 2 months ago I bought a new PC with windows 8 (previously 7).

All others under a new external storage devices works fine
I also have 593400-a 500 GB 08/11 that work very well.
also DTP110 1 TB 07/13 and DTP110 1 to 07/14, plus 3 more other make also works very well.

Thanks for your help and advice

Each HARD disk belongs to "wear".
What does that mean? Well, sooner or later each HARD drive is going to die... and in most cases, these questions appear suddenly and are surprising.

This HARD drive is a device of simple plug ' n play... This means that you have to connect it to the USB port and it should work...
If this is not the case, the unit may malfunction and usually it is not repairable.

  • Toshiba Canvio fail to mount after a month

    Hi guys,.

I have Toshiba Canvio 3T (HDWC130EK3J1) and it worked fine for a month. Now, it will fail to mount.

I read on some forums that it could be a power issue. I have USB 2.0 and perhaps need a "cable Toshiba y." I do not understand if I was using just a week just why I would need a cable in 'Y' now HARD drive.

I have not any other computer with USB 3.0 to check if it's the power-hungry drive is the "real problem".

    I have iMac
    Mac OS X 10.9.5

    Any help or ideas?

    Thank you!

    I forgot to add...

Toshiba CANVIO does not appear in the disk utility... at all. Not on the desktop, or utility disk. Many worked yesterday, displayed on the desktop with the other two drives ext...

I've tried different USB ports too. I can hear the disc running when it is plugged into my Mac. The light is too much but does not appear.

I read the Toshiba site we on this product and I have TONS of bad reviews... many people call a reminder. Very disappointed to read of a supposed good Toshiba brand.

  • Toshiba Canvio USB external drive does not work well

I hope this is the right forum for this question
Please help me with my external hard drive, Toshiba Canvio usb e05a032bau2xk.

It worked fine, but not now.
My OS is win xp, sp3, home ed.

The Toshiba drive is more steady and is almost impossible to work with now. I checked with Device Manager that says the drive is working correctly.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, cleaned and Defrag the disk (when I was able to access) but it works still very badly now!

What else can I do to find out what is the problem with this Toshiba drive and return it works reliably?

    Thank you

  • Toshiba Canvio 3 TB on the State of the extradition

How can I make my Toshiba Canvio 3 TB on extradition State?

    I deleted the partitions!

You have deleted all partitions and don't create all backups in the past?
Well, I guess that you will not be able to recover these new partitions :(

Of course, you can create other new partitions on this external HARD drive but unfortunately, the content is lost.

  • Toshiba Canvio 3TO HDD - does it support Win XP

I'm looking for clarification of a new Toshiba Canvio external (3.5 in.) 3 hard to office, I bought Saturday in Zurich.
I see on the area (under the heading - operating systems) new systems are listed. The only not listed is Windows XP.

Yes, I know, that as April last Microsoft does support more XP, but as a supporter of the tech, I am also aware - through various publications of the computer industry, tech support Web sites and newsletters online (at least) that all over the world, probably more than a third or more of the computers use even the XP operating system.

As I support technician private (which most cover newer systems) I have (since last spring) 30 + people I support who have decided
stay with XP for a while. (I intend to support all the of them until my retirement at the end of this year).

The last external Toshiba I bought (back up their data - last summer - listed for XP on the side of the box. A new does not list it. My question is, of course, (before I open the new Toshiba box) hardware will work fine with XP.

I fully understand that their corporate point of view no matter what manufacturer of HD would not care claim no responsibility for the data via an operating system supported 'more '. And I quite accept it... and this responsibility for data.
And I guess, basically, that's WHY a company would prepare the list is no longer an abandoned operating system.

But I just wanted to ask (as mentioned above) if someone could give me a tip as to if this new WILLINGNESS of HD work with data on a XP computer.

Thank you, in advance, for any info or advice...
    Mike

But I just wanted to ask (as mentioned above) if someone could give me a tip as to if this new WILLINGNESS of HD work with data on a XP computer.

You take on this HARD drive?
3 TB Canvio desktop external hard drive Toshiba

As noted on the page Toshiba; It is a plug ' n play HDD and Win XP is supported.
This means you don't need drivers in order to use this HARD drive... so I wonder why this HARD drive should NOT work under Win XP computer...

You are right; Microsoft ended in own support of Win XP but in my opinion there is nothing to do with the use of this HARD drive...

  • Toshiba Canvio single 2 TB external hard drives

I purchased 2 Toshiba Canvio Simple 2 TB external hard drives (there is a 2 weeks and last week one - same products). I found a disk hard fact "beep" sound sometimes (not always) when it is connected to the computer, but the other a dose not make any sound. Could you please tell me if it is defective and needs to be replaced? Thank you very much for your help.

Fact is that during the process of reading and writing the HARD disk head movement could create some noise but it's hard to say if more loud noise seems to indicate a HARD drive problem...

I think that if you know not all this noise, get in touch with the dealer and ask for help...

  • Rename the Toshiba Canvio 2 TB

I'm on a Toshiba Canvio external HARD drive 2 TB on my router (Fritz! Box 7490) as a NAS drive.
Unfortunately the disc always presents itself as "TOSHIBA-ExternalUSB3-0-01" in the navigation tree.

So far, I have not found a way to rename the device for example 'media '.

Could someone tell me please how to do this.

Simple change of name in Windows Explorer does not work. Must have something to with a disc HARD name provided / delivered by Toshiba.

    Thank you for your support.

    Hello

The renaming of the option that is available and provided by the Windows Explorer is not to rename the external HARD drive, but the storage name will be changed only in Windows Explorer.

To be honest I don't very well if you can change the HARD drive name that appears in the menu of the fritz m box.
However, perhaps you could try to use the clean or clean all commands on a selected disk to remove all its partitions, MBR or GPT volumes and any information hidden on disk MBR sector.
    Details here:

But use it at your own risk!

  • Toshiba Canvio Desk 4TB not recognizesed on TV

    Hello

I replaced my Station D3 3 to (I broke it...) with Toshiba Canvio Office 4 TB and I had a question. Why does not not on my tv (Samsung LE40C530)?

My TV recognizes HDD - s only up to 2 TB, so I split the drive on two partitions (I did the same thing with db station and it worked perfectly...) but still it does not work, TV will not change even with media player when the player is connected, nothing...

I tried everything, changing between TPG - MRB, different size of partition, different cables... but nothing seems to work.

Then, I missing something here or is my brand new Toshiba Canvio Office 4TB just incompatible with my TV... I hope as the first but...

    Help, please!

It is a HARD USB 3.0 drive.
The TV supports the new USB 3.0 standard?

I guess you should clarify that with your TV manufacturer support.

  • Toshiba PX1173E - 1PRP USB 2.0 Port Replicator II windows 7 drivers

Hello, I can, t find windows7x64 drivers for my Toshiba PX1173E - 1PRP USB 2.0 Port Replicator II. I find the driver for win vistax32, but it's not work.

    Hi Michel,.

The point is that 32-bit drivers will not work on a 64 bit OS and you can get all the drivers on the Toshiba page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

But it seems that there is no 64-bit available driver and you can use t Port Replicator II with 64-bit so far :(
Maybe Toshiba going 64-bit in the near future

  • Missing UBS port

I have a laptop HP G-61. One of my work as a UBS port. I recently looked at the UBS port and they are absent.  My notebooks is still under warranty.  Had this laptop for a year now.  What must I do to fix this problem.

    Contact HP.

Replacing the motherboard is the only way to replace the ports. A cheaper work around is to buy and use a powered USB hub.  Note that the cost of repair would be excluded from the warranty, even within the warranty period.

    Best regards

  • My toshiba canvio basics3.0 1.0 TB will not back up my toshiba computer

I have Toshiba Z830 CORE i7 with windows 7 & I'm trying to go back to Toshiba Canvio Basics 3.0 1.0 to external hard drive, but the custom of the computer recognize the external device. He appears in the devices, but is not recognized when you try to make the back upward. Is there anyone who can advise me how to solve the my problem please?

    Hi Sabine,.

This issue may be caused if drive letter is not assigned to the external hardware. Click on Start/Control Panel / Management/disk management administration tools/computer see if there is a disc shown. If it is not listed here, the chances are that it is not a drive letter assigned. If this is the case, do a right-click on the specified drive and choose to select "change drive letters and paths" one drive letter in those proposed and click ok. If that was the problem, it should now display in 'computer '.

This can also occur if the drivers are not installed properly. Try the following steps.

    (a) go to the Device Manager

    (b) find the external hard drive.

    (c) the right mouse click - Uninstall

    (e) restart the computer and plug the USB external hard drive and let it find and install the driver

    (f) try to backup, it should work.

Let us know the status of the issue. If you need help, please after return. We will be happy to help you.
