    Hi all

I bought a 1 TB Canvio Officeworks HDD Basics about 6 months ago, and it has been wayward more or less his entire life.

The USB connection is not and has never worked properly and was recently completely died on me, which means I can access is more data on the device.

I intend to pay, but I'd like my data on it.
    Contact Toshiba?

I tried to email them, but I can't work that the serial and model numbers are on this subject.
Also, I do not have the box, the drive came in or the original receipt would be this question if I am trying to return it?

I am sure that it is still in warranty and whatnot.

    Any help would be great,

    Louis

    > USB connection is not and has never worked properly and was recently completely died on me, which means I can access is more data on the device.

I googled for the 1 TB Canvio Basics HDD and it seems that this external HARD disk supports USB 3.0
The USB 3.0 standard generally provide 900mA power. The USB 2.0 standard provides power of 500mA.
If you have problems using USB 3.0 as part of a USB 2.0 device, I recommend you connect the HARD drive to 2 ports USB 2.0 USB with USB Y cable.

But if the HARD drive does not work in different USB ports (also connected to two USB ports) and then the HARD drive may be defective.

If the warranty is valid, the device can be fixed / replaced in warranty conditions. Of course you need a proof of purchase (receipt or something like that)

But to my knowledge such guaranteed conditions don t include the process of data recovery.
So in the event of disk failure HARD, the data is lost. :(

If you wish, you can check date get offers:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/services/data-recovery/

But as far as I know if you have not purchased this service before the disk fails, the rescue date procedure can be a very costly affair.

About 2 months ago I bought a new PC with windows 8 (previously 7).

I also have 593400-a 500 GB 08/11 that work very well.
also DTP110 1 TB 07/13 and DTP110 1 to 07/14, plus 3 more other make also works very well.

Thanks for your help and advice

Each HARD disk belongs to "wear".
What does that mean? Well, sooner or later each HARD drive is going to die... and in most cases, these questions appear suddenly and are surprising.

This HARD drive is a device of simple plug ' n play... This means that you have to connect it to the USB port and it should work...
If this is not the case, the unit may malfunction and usually it is not repairable.

  • Toshiba Canvio Basics HARD drive does not appear in my computer

    Hello

I have a HDTB110AK3BA - Toshiba 1 TB Canvio Plus Portable Hard Drive for storage 3.0 Basics and the computer will allow it to connect, but it does not appear in my computer / pc is in Device Manager thought but not my pc

Please help and Windows 7 or windows 8.1 PC do the same thing.

    Hello

I found the description of the product of this external HARD disk:

    Product features:
    • USB 3.0 - powered portable add-on storage.
    • Voltage of bus capable USB, no need for AC adapter.
    • Easy to use with no software to install.
    • Adapts to large digital files with spacious storage capacity.
    • Protect your drive (internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology).

    Specifications
    • Capacity: 1.0 TB
    • Interface: USB 3.0
    • Transfer rate: up to 5 Gb/s
    • Speed: 5 400 rpm
    • Average access time: 12ms
    • Cache buffer: 8 MB

It is a HARD USB 3.0 drive. No doubt the HARD drive is not recognized correctly in windows exploerer due to the low power.
The USB 2.0 port common feeds only 500mA. The USB 3.0 device must be able to 900mA.
Therefore, it would be advisable to connect this 2 ports USB 2.0 HARD drive with a USB Y cable

  • Missing in ext HDD PH3100U-1EXB Toshiba backup software

I just bought a Toshiba 1 TB ext HDD PH3100U-1EXB and have only been using it on a USB 2 connection.

I am running Windows 7 on a computer and Windows professional XP on another machine. I have copied files to and from the drive successfully, but cannot access the virtual CD drive to try installing the backup.

If I use Windows Explorer, I can not open the virtual CD drive.
How can I get the backup/restore software?

Is there a way to reset the CD player to access the software?

    Thanks for any help.

I'm having a similar problem. Shortly after that I backed up the hard drive of my PC, the virtual CD cannot be opened by Windows and the virtual CD icon disappeared, although the partition still appears as another drive, but when I try to see it I get a message that Windows does not recognize, it's may be damaged.

  • External hard drive Canvio Basics 2.0 TB/To - device connection issues.

    Hello

    I recently bought an external hard drive and I can't connect my computer's hard drive. (Toshiba Canvio basics 3.0 - 2, 0 to/To - Usb 3.0 and 2.0)

There is a pop up message saying that the device has been installed, but when I go to 'my computer' hard drive does not appear.

Does anyone have suggestions on how this can be corrected? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Claire

I thought that I should add a little more information...

I tried to access the device on a computer, 2 notebooks, 2 TV and an Xbox, so it seems that the hard drive is the common problem.
In addition, the drive appears in device under disk drivers Manager and he said that the hard drive had no problem but I can not access the hard disk.

    Thanks again

  • My toshiba canvio basics3.0 1.0 TB will not back up my toshiba computer

I have Toshiba Z830 CORE i7 with windows 7 & I'm trying to go back to Toshiba Canvio Basics 3.0 1.0 to external hard drive, but the custom of the computer recognize the external device. He appears in the devices, but is not recognized when you try to make the back upward. Is there anyone who can advise me how to solve the my problem please?

    Hi Sabine,.

This issue may be caused if drive letter is not assigned to the external hardware. Click on Start/Control Panel / Management/disk management administration tools/computer see if there is a disc shown. If it is not listed here, the chances are that it is not a drive letter assigned. If this is the case, do a right-click on the specified drive and choose to select "change drive letters and paths" one drive letter in those proposed and click ok. If that was the problem, it should now display in 'computer '.

This can also occur if the drivers are not installed properly. Try the following steps.

    (a) go to the Device Manager

    (b) find the external hard drive.

    (c) the right mouse click - Uninstall

    (e) restart the computer and plug the USB external hard drive and let it find and install the driver

    (f) try to backup, it should work.

Let us know the status of the issue. If you need help, please after return. We will be happy to help you.

  • Toshiba Canvio 3TO HDD - does it support Win XP

I'm looking for clarification of a new Toshiba Canvio external (3.5 in.) 3 hard to office, I bought Saturday in Zurich.
I see on the area (under the heading - operating systems) new systems are listed. The only not listed is Windows XP.

Yes, I know, that as April last Microsoft does support more XP, but as a supporter of the tech, I am also aware - through various publications of the computer industry, tech support Web sites and newsletters online (at least) that all over the world, probably more than a third or more of the computers use even the XP operating system.

As I support technician private (which most cover newer systems) I have (since last spring) 30 + people I support who have decided
stay with XP for a while. (I intend to support all the of them until my retirement at the end of this year).

The last external Toshiba I bought (back up their data - last summer - listed for XP on the side of the box. A new does not list it. My question is, of course, (before I open the new Toshiba box) hardware will work fine with XP.

I fully understand that their corporate point of view no matter what manufacturer of HD would not care claim no responsibility for the data via an operating system supported 'more '. And I quite accept it... and this responsibility for data.
And I guess, basically, that's WHY a company would prepare the list is no longer an abandoned operating system.

But I just wanted to ask (as mentioned above) if someone could give me a tip as to if this new WILLINGNESS of HD work with data on a XP computer.

Thank you, in advance, for any info or advice...
    Mike

You take on this HARD drive?
3 TB Canvio desktop external hard drive Toshiba
    http://www.Toshiba.com/us/accessorie...k/HDWC130XK3J1

As noted on the page Toshiba; It is a plug ' n play HDD and Win XP is supported.
This means you don't need drivers in order to use this HARD drive... so I wonder why this HARD drive should NOT work under Win XP computer...

You are right; Microsoft ended in own support of Win XP but in my opinion there is nothing to do with the use of this HARD drive...

  • Canvio Basic HDD - light flashes then stops

    Hey all.

A few weeks ago I bought a disc hard extern canvio basics, it worked like a charm.
Since yesterday it does really more, the LED flashes once or twice, then stops, whereas when I touch the case, in my view, that the drive is running. However, it does not appear.

is there a way to fix this?

    Ed

If the drive is not recognized HARD and does not work in different USB ports and computers, and then in most cases the HARD drive has developed a fault.
In most cases you can't remedy...

That's why I recommend that you connect the HARD drive to different USB ports and if possible to check the HARD drive as part of another computer...
If it fails, well the HDD is not OK.

  • Toshiba Canvio fail to mount after a month

    Hi guys,.

I have Toshiba Canvio 3T (HDWC130EK3J1) and it worked fine for a month. Now, it will fail to mount.

I read on some forums that it could be a power issue. I have USB 2.0 and perhaps need a "cable Toshiba y." I do not understand if I was using just a week just why I would need a cable in 'Y' now HARD drive.

I have not any other computer with USB 3.0 to check if it's the power-hungry drive is the "real problem".

    I have iMac
    Mac OS X 10.9.5

    Any help or ideas?

    Thank you!

    I forgot to add...

Toshiba CANVIO does not appear in the disk utility... at all. Not on the desktop, or utility disk. Many worked yesterday, displayed on the desktop with the other two drives ext...

I've tried different USB ports too. I can hear the disc running when it is plugged into my Mac. The light is too much but does not appear.

I read the Toshiba site we on this product and I have TONS of bad reviews... many people call a reminder. Very disappointed to read of a supposed good Toshiba brand.

Please help me with my external hard drive, Toshiba Canvio usb e05a032bau2xk.

It worked fine, but not now.
My OS is win xp, sp3, home ed.

The Toshiba drive is more steady and is almost impossible to work with now. I checked with Device Manager that says the drive is working correctly.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, cleaned and Defrag the disk (when I was able to access) but it works still very badly now!

What else can I do to find out what is the problem with this Toshiba drive and return it works reliably?

  • TOSHIBA StorE Basics 750Go - Partition problems

    Hello

I hope you can help me or point me in the right direction.

I bought this Toshiba StorE Basics 750Go v63700-b part number: hdtb107ek3aa a few days ago.
When I plugged into my USB port it came right after Windows & installed the necessary drivers.
I copied then over 200 GB of information.
    Everything worked very well.

My daughter was so taken and plugged into his iMac and she said Yes when Timje machine was asked if it was ok to initialize the disk. Well, she realized her mistake about 10 sec in the process.

So here's the question. Time machine wrote a new partition table on the disk, ergo not more fat or grease backup.

I'm trying to find out what was the preinstalled configuration partition of the drive when it is plugged. That way I can at least fix the partition table entries, type, size and so on. This will allow me to then use the recovery software to get the files.

I hope you know where I can find this information.

    Kind regards

    Momentum

You talk about this HARD drive externally. Right?
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/discontinued-products/hdtb107ek3aa/

Hmm, I guess it could be the NTFS file format.

But I m not very well if you'll be able to save the data after the file format changes.

  • Data storage 3.5 "Toshiba Canvio problem with permanent fade.

Since I started using the Toshiba Canvio 3 TB 3.5 "external data storige disc he found himself a strange faul which makes it difficult to use.

Data storage, for example when I use it to watch a video file off and then it start immediately again to go back... It can happen to the breast of a movie 20 times and it is very annoying because you never know when the judgment will happen...

    How to fix this please?

    Hello

In my opinion it is not very easy to say why the external HARD disk automatically turns off while watching a movie. But this issue does not seem that there might be something wrong with the settings or software.
Of course, some tools are available and installed on the HARD drive as the NTI Backup Now EZ software but I n t think that this could affect the playback of the movie. However, this software supports and automatic backup function and you can change how often your backup intervenes (hourly, daily, weekly, etc.). So try to disable this setting for testing purposes.

Fact is that this 3.5 HARD drive must be connected to a power adapter and HARD drive supports the USB 3.0 interface but it s backward compatible with USB 2.0.

I put t know what are the USB ports you have used for the connection of HARD drive, but I recommend you test all the USB ports taken in charge by the PC.

Last but not least, it could be possible that there is a hardware problem simple HARD drive
